Forever Young

A Daydreamer's Tales (Taengsic one-shot collection)

“Just go talk to her.”

“No way!”

“Oh come on we all know you have had your eyes on her since we walked in. She is totally your type!”

Jessica practically shoved her friend Tiffany off her seat, “It would just be creepy.”

“Oh and you not eyeing her out like a stalker isn’t? Just go up to her...go go! She is leaving now!”

Jessica looks over but quickly looks away and whispers, “She is coming this way.”

Tiffany smiled widely, “Don’t hide your face. You are making it even more obvious.”

“Ah hem...” Both Tiffany and Jessica looked up shyly at the girl now hovering over their table, “Umm I know this might be out of blue but I think you are beautiful.”

Jessica’s face turned extremely red as she mumbled, “I think so too.”

The girl giggled, “Well I am Taeyeon. Would you like to have maybe a date with me?”

Jessica started to squeal with excitement internally but she managed to keep her face neutral, “I would like that.”

Smiling brightly, Taeyeon whipped out her phone, “Great! Can I have your number? I have to go somewhere now but I can call you later?”

Tiffany didn’t even let Jessica react as she took the girl’s phone to type in her number, shocking Taeyeon and causing Jessica to glare at her, “That’s her number. I will make sure she is there for the date.”

“Ah thanks?” Taeyeon was really confused at the very assertive friend, “What is your name?”

“J-Jessica...”

“Ok. See you later Jessica!”

Tiffany and Jessica watched as the shorter girl left before Tiffany started shaking the poor brunet in excitement, “She likes you too! Wow you hit the jackpot!”

Biting her lower lip, Jessica wanted to do a happy dance with all the butterflies in her stomach, “That...was unexpected.”

“Is not. You are totally hot! And she...she is your type too. It was meant to be Jess.”

“Ugh I will screw it up. You know how I am when I really like someone,” Jessica groaned in frustration.

“I know you get nervous but try to just have fun. Like you are having a date with me.”

Jessica grimaced, “I really don’t want to picture you when doing romantic things.”

“Only on the date part. Not the after date stupid.”

“I hope so...she really is beautiful.”

--------------------------

Jessica turned around for the ninth time making sure there wasn’t a single wrinkle in her dress, “Jessica you are making me dizzy with all that twirling.”

“Does it look ok?”

“For the tenth time yes! God you are like gifted with the ability to make every outfit look amazing.”

“Aww you are being sweet sis.”

Krystal blew a kiss, “Always am.”

Just then the doorbell rang and Jessica stood frozen, “Is it time already?”

Krystal looked over at the clock, “I think so. You want me to get it?”

Jessica rushed over to her vanity, “No no. I got it.” Smacking her lips together with a fresh coat of lipstick, Jessica reached for her bag and rushed over to the door.

“Hello.”

Jessica gasped at the beautiful bouquet of roses, “Wow. These are amazing.”

“I didn’t know what you liked but I thought roses could make any girl look even more beautiful.”

“Any? Seems like you have some experience wooing girls.”

Taeyeon laughed bashfully, “A few.”

Jessica reached behind to put the roses on the side table, “So where are we going?”

Taeyeon walked the girl to her silver Bentley, “Somewhere nice. I hope you like sushi?”

Jessica’s eyes lit up, “I love it!”

“Great! I know the best place for it,” Taeyeon opened up the door for Jessica to walk in.

Jessica noticed how considerate Taeyeon was, not to mention the girl seemed to be rather wealthy. Was this girl a little too good to be true?

-----------------------------

“Spill. You had me up all night wondering how the date went.”

Jessica was still in lala-land reminiscing, “Perfect.”

“Details! I need details!”

“Tiffany I don’t know where to start. She just was...was seriously perfect.”

“Well where did she take you?”

“Neo...that new Japanese sushi place.”

“Neo? Isn’t that the like super exclusive Japanese Sushi bar? Is she like rich?”

“She picked me up in a Bentley so I think so.”

“Wow...what does she do?”

“Private contracting for the police but I don’t know how that made her so rich.”

“So she is a police officer? Maybe she is corrupt and takes bribes!”

“No no! Just consults with them. Maybe it is an inheritance. She is too polite and charming to be corrupt.”

“Well how am I supposed to know? I didn’t meet the girl.”

“I am sure you will. We already planned our next date,” Jessica said shyly.

“Omg! Congrats! So did you kiss yet?”

“Not yet. We ate and she dropped me off at home. She was very very considerate.”

“She sounds sweet Jess.”

Jessica reached over for a piece of clothing on the rack, “So are you going to help me here to find another outfit?”

Tiffany pulled the garment out of Jessica’s hand and pulled her out of the store, “I think we are in the wrong place.”

“What? They have nice stuff there.” Jessica followed her friend but nearly had a heart attack seeing where the girl was taking her, “No no no. She won’t...I wouldn’t.”

“Oh come on. Seal the deal Jess!” Tiffany smiled wickedly as she managed to pull the reluctant girl into the lingerie store.

-----------------------------------

“You know you are spoiling me again.”

Taeyeon laughed a bit, “With a girl as beautiful as you, I need to impress.”

Jessica snuggled closer to the girl as the cool night air caressed her body. Luckily, Taeyeon brought a second jacket for her to wear as they rode around the town on the horse drawn carriage. When Taeyeon proposed the idea, Jessica couldn’t help but feel like the luckiest princess in the world, “This is a bit over the top but I love it.”

“I could give you so much more Jessica,” Taeyeon turned her head to look Jessica in her eyes, “I want to give you so much more as my girlfriend...”

“Are you asking for me to be your girlfriend?”

With a gentle smile, Taeyeon held up her hand to caress Jessica’s soft face, “Will you be?”

Already lost in Taeyeon’s eyes, Jessica couldn’t hold back any longer to seal her lips with Taeyeons’. Taeyeon held her close as she smiled into Jessica’s acceptance with a tender kiss. It wasn’t until the carriage hit a huge bump did the girls separate from their heated moment.

A little while later, the carriage stopped near Taeyeon’s car and Taeyeon helped Jessica out before paying the driver, “Did you want to go somewhere else? Or I can take you home.”

Jessica looked over Taeyeon’s car to see that they were next to the river, “Did you want to go for a short walk?”

Taeyeon reached down to weave their fingers together, “Let’s go.”

Jessica looked up at the lights illuminating their paths, “Taeyeon?”

“Humm?”

“I feel so lucky...you almost seem too perfect for me.”

Taeyeon smiled widely and squeezed Jessica’s hand, “And here I thought I was the lucky one.”

Jessica laughed as she nudged Taeyeon a bit, “But really...you are charming and are somehow extremely wealthy for your age. Not to mention...”

“Beautiful? Except for the money, I think the same for you.” Pulling up Jessica’s hands, she kissed a few fingers, “Don’t think about all that stuff though. Someday my wealth will go away or I won’t be able to charm you like I did before...I want you to still be by my side even if I had none of that.”

Jessica turned to see Taeyeon’s face contort into a mix of pain and worry, “I want you to feel the same for me...eventually.” Jessica laughed, “We just started dating but it seems like we are looking towards forever.”

With a bitter smile, Taeyeon put her arm around Jessica’s waist to give her a back hug, “I thought about forever the first time I saw you even if it might not be possible.”

---------------------------

“You look like a girl who just broke up than a girl who just hooked up,” Tiffany said as she rolled around on Jessica’s bed.

“I think we are moving too fast.”

“I don’t know. I think you might be thinking about it wrong. Maybe she only confessed it was love at first sight. A bit romantic if you ask me.”

“I felt that spark with her too...almost like love at first sight but things without a foundation will eventually fall. We hardly talk about each other.”

“Ah you are watching too many HGTV house building shows Jess. You and her are not houses.”

Jessica picked up the magazine Tiffany threw off the bed and started to look at it absently, “I don’t know if we know enough about each other yet. I could like her now but as we get older, maybe she will get sick of me...”

“Or find out you are a slob, an idot...”

Jessica threw the magazine at Tiffany’s face, “You are not helping.”

“Well what am I supposed to say? It is like you want this to fail! If she is nice and the whole package...just be happy! Say you are the luckiest girl in the world because you know it is true. Don’t dread on the bad because then you will only think of that.”

“Maybe you should meet her Tiff.”

“Oh you are ready for the best friend to kick in for approval?”

“Well you know I can’t date a person who can’t be friends with you too.”

“Don’t worry. I got your back girl. Just set up the meeting and we will meet. I want to get to know this girl better too. If you keep smiling while texting her...”

Jessica put down her phone to stick out her tongue at Tiffany, “I could be talking to Krystal.”

“Oh please. You and Krystal would rather yell at each other on the phone than text. Also why would you two be texting while you are in the same house right now?”

Jessica rolled her eyes, “so what if I smile when texting Taeyeon? She always has strange photos of herself to send me.”

Tiffany peeked over the magazine, “Such a dork...I think is good for a stick in the mud like you.”

“I am not lame!”

“Oh please. You tell a joke and the whole room goes silent. I bet if she told a joke, we would all need a new spleen from laughing too hard.”

“How would you know?”

“Well she managed to find a bag of unicorn farts cotton candy. Cruel humor is the best!”

“Whatever. You are still stuck with boring ol me.”

“I live such a sad life.”

“Hey!”

--------------------------

Tiffany and Jessica were waiting for Taeyeon at the café all three met the first time. It had been just over a month since Jessica and Taeyeon met and Jessica thought it really was time for Tiffany to meet Taeyeon officially, “What are you doing?”

“Rearranging the sugar.”

“Are you nervous Jess?”

Jessica finished arranging the sugar by color before taking a sip of her coffee, “With you bumming around this time? Yes. You know too many secrets.”

“Oh I am here to assess Taeyeon, not to dote on your colorful past. That can be saved for the next get-together,” Tiffany winked.

Jessica wanted to smack the smug grin off Tiffany’s face but Taeyeon’s soothing voice interrupted the friends, “Did you girls wait long?”

Tiffany stood up immediately and grinned happily, “Not at all. I am Jessica’s friend Tiffany”

Taeyeon accepted the handshake before sitting down next to Jessica and interlacing hands, “I hear lots about you. Jessica told me you two have been friends since you were like 4?”

“Yep! Inseparable.”

“Wow. Amazing to have friends that long.”

“What about you? Any friendships lasting that long?”

“Well...”

“Taeyeon is a loner. As far as I know her only friend is Ginger her little puppy.” Jessica interrupted as she patted Taeyeon’s lap.

“Ah yea...I am not used to making close friendships for long.”

“Oh really? Jessica tells me all these good things about you...I would have assumed you’d have many friends by now.”

“I think it is only cause Jess brings the good out in me.” Taeyeon reached down to lace their hands while looking over at Jessica lovingly.

Jessica was a bit embarrassed by the gaze so she occupied herself with her coffee, “Ah umm Tae I ordered a tea for you.”

Taeyeon looked down at the extra cup on the table, “Oh. Rose tea?”

“Yep. You know I swear Taeyeon is obsessed with roses. On our first date she gave me a huge bundle, several dates after she gave me one or two roses and here she is drinking rose tea.”

Taeyeon let out a small chuckle, “I didn’t even notice.”

“So you are wealthy, like roses and have a dog. Anything else I should know about Taeyeon,” Tiffany leaned in as if Taeyeon were to spill her entire life story.

“That pretty much sums me up.”

Tiffany rolled her eyes on the girl’s bland answer, “ok...although Jessica is too scared to ask you but how did you get so wealthy?”

“My money? I guess all from savings. I am a good saver. Although I do like cars...I splurge on cars every so often.”

“I feel like you would have to be my grandfather’s age to save that much with only doing consultations.”

“Ah well I did have different jobs before. Consultations are just something I do for fun mostly. I don’t really need the money per se.”

“Other jobs?”

“Of course. I have done all types of jobs like being a librarian, auto sales, real estate ect. I have maybe 10-12 certifications to do various jobs.”

Tiffany’s jaw nearly drop with Taeyeon’s experience, “And you are like 26? Jess’s age?”

“Err give or take a few years.”

“Wow Taeyeon you DO sound pretty amazing.”

Jessica couldn’t help but smile proudly at the praise her girlfriend was receiving from Tiffany, “She impresses me every date too.”

“Well Jessica likes surprises so I try to add something special into the next date every time.”

Tiffany scooted closer to the couple, “Taeyeon I normally wouldn’t steal Jessica’s partner but I really want to steal you away right now.”

Taeyeon knew it was just a joke and laughed while Jessica shot lasers at Tiffany’s head, “Don’t you dare Hwang!”

“Oh you know I wouldn’t but Taeyeon you do sound larger than life. I wish you both all the best although Taeyeon I hate to say you might have gotten a lesser deal. Jessica isn’t all that impressive...”

Taeyeon quickly squeezed Jessica’s hand to stop her from leaning over the table and strangling her so called best friend, “Oh I wouldn’t say that. Jessica has many qualities I like. I don’t think one’s professional life should sway my liking to a girl one way or another. If she makes me laugh or smile, that is much more important than a million dollar bank account or 5 Harvard degrees.”

“Aww you are too sweet babe.”

Tiffany was also hypnotized by Taeyeon’s words, “You really are. Seriously though, if you want to break it up with Jess, just give me a call.”

Jessica couldn’t hold her anger back any longer and gave Tiffany one hard kick under the table, “Way to ruin the mood.”

Tiffany rubbed her sore leg and shrugged, “Well don’t let her go! She has me captivated.”

Taeyeon smiled at the two friends bickering, “At the moment, I only see Jessica. I only want to see Jessica...sorry Tiffany you are fighting a losing battle for me.”

Tiffany threw her arms up in the air admitting defeat, “Well I put my best effort in there. I really do hope you two can remain happy.”

---------------------------------

Taeyeon parked her car in front of her loft, “I really could take you home Jess...my place is a bit of a mess with work.”

Jessica leaned over from the passenger side to give Taeyeon a quick peck on the lips, “You have been to my place before. I want to see what your life is like too.”

Taeyeon smiled as she returned a quick peck on Jessica’s luscious lips, “Ok. It is messy though.” Getting out of the car quickly to help Jessica out of the passenger side, Taeyeon nearly tripped on the sidewalk before making it to her door, “the door my lady.”

Jessica smiled as she got out and walked towards the door, “I like the Victorian style in this neighborhood.”

Taeyeon nodded while fumbling her keys, “I have been here for a long time. Although my neighbors have changed from time to time, I really like it here.”

With the door unlocked, the two women walked in and went up the stairs. Taeyeon once again put a key in to open her door and finally letting Jessica into a secluded part of her life, “Wow...Taeyeon this place is...messy.”

Taeyeon laughed as she bounced around to pick up random folders and papers, “There is one chair empty...could you wait a while as I clean up this mess?”

Jessica giggled as she caught Taeyeon to give her a peck on her cheek, “This place is beautiful if you gave it some TLC.”

“If you let me go, I can clean this up quickly and make us dinner?”

Jessica smiled before sauntering over to the empty chair and watched Taeyeon clean up her messes. After some time, Jessica got bored so she got up to observe her surroundings some more. Making her way over to the fireplace, Jessica admired the detailed marble work and the little trinkets above the cold stone. Looking around some more, Jessica noticed that the place was filled with small items that could mean memories but there were no pictures; none of family or friends except a few cute photos of Ginger lining Taeyeon’s fridge.

The dog had been following Jessica around the house for a while now so the girl bent down to pet the black puppy, “How come your mommy doesn’t have any friends but you and me?”

The dog tilted its head and dashed away. Thinking nothing of it, Jessica shrugged and followed the dog into what was probably Taeyeon’s bedroom. Ginger went under the bed and reemerged with a small photo album. Jessica took it and was about to see what was inside, “Jessica? Where did you go?”

Looking for a place to hide the album, Jessica was swift enough to slide it under the messy covers, “Here!”

Taeyeon entered the bedroom with a questioning grin, “My bedroom?”

“Ah I just followed Ginger.”

Taeyeon laughed and wrapped her arms around Jessica’s waist leaning very very close, “Are you sure it wasn’t to hint on something else?”

Jessica let Taeyeon kiss her passionately because she had very little control when Taeyeon touched her like this. She even let Taeyeon lead them to the bed as they continued their hot lip lock, however, as Jessica’s hit the bed, she felt the hard object she just threw under the sheets. Quickly Jessica pushed the girl away, afraid she might get caught, “Tae didn’t you say you were going to start dinner?”

Taeyeon was amazed that Jessica actually remembered about dinner in the middle of their heated session, “Ah yea but...we could continue and then have dinner? Work up an appetite?”

Jessica pushed the poor girl off of her, “I am a bit hungry.”

Taeyeon sighed knowing she shouldn’t force the girl, “Alright. Make yourself at home while I prepare dinner.”

Jessica gave the girl an apologetic smile while watching the girl shuffle out of the room. With Taeyeon gone, Jessica fell onto the bed in relief, “Ah Ginger that was close.”

With curiosity creeping through her veins, Jessica reached under the sheets for the photo album. She knew she shouldn’t look in and she knew she would be invading Taeyeon’s privacy but she couldn’t help her fingers prinking at the edge of the book. Eventually it did open and Jessica was in shock.

“What is this?” Page by page Jessica saw a variety of girls who she thought resembled her almost exactly except the clothing from each photo looked dated. As she paged through to the last page, Jessica came to the final picture that looked to be Taeyeon with a girl that Jessica thought would have been her twin. Looking closely, Jessica noticed a date on the photo 1859, “There’s no way...maybe these are relatives of Taeyeon’s or something...but they look exactly alike...I look just like this girl too.”

“Hey Jessica are you allergic to...” Taeyeon quickly ran over when she saw the album Jessica was holding, “What are you doing with this!”

Jessica was shocked Taeyeon raised her voice but she already knew she was in the wrong, “Sorry...I didn’t mean to...Ginger found it.”

“These are my private things!” Taeyeon hugged the album closely.

“Taeyeon...who were those women? W-why do they all look like me?”

“T-that’s not the point...you shouldn’t be going through my things like this.”

Walking closer to the mumbling girl, Jessica placed her hand on Taeyeon’s shoulder, “Taeyeon. Who are these women?”

Taeyeon looked down at the dated album, “M-my...my...” Shaking her head, “you wouldn’t believe me even if I told you.”

“I can try to understand.”

Taeyeon looked up into Jessica’s eyes and saw the sincerity behind them, “Jessica I have a secret...a huge secret.”

Jessica slid her hands down Taeyeon’s arm to interlace their hands, “Taeyeon I want to know about you. You lock yourself away from me all the time and I am more than ready to be let in.”

Taeyeon pushed Jessica on the bed so they could sit side-by-side. Opening up to the last page Taeyeon pointed at the women, “This is me and my wife Sooyeon. We kept it a secret because two women weren’t allowed to be intimate in the 1800s. She died shortly after this photo was taken from sickness. I can’t explain it but ever since, I never aged. Jessica I am over 180 years old.”

Jessica was at a loss for words and of course she thought Taeyeon was crazy for a few seconds but there was no denying that the woman in that picture looked exactly like Taeyeon, “W-what about the other girls in the book?”

Taeyeon laughed as she paged through the book, “They were all girls I was seeing. I wanted Sooyeon back so bad and I thought if I dated girls who looked like her, maybe just maybe that would be my Sooyeon.”

“Like reincarnation?”

“Yea...but I don’t think any of these girls were her.”

Jessica could see the pain in Taeyeon’s eyes, “Sooyeon...she looks just like me.”

Taeyeon nodded, “To tell you the truth...I think you look almost exactly like her. On occasion I nearly said her name instead of Jessica.”

Jessica chuckled, “You know I have a secret too.”

Taeyeon looked up in surprise, “You are 180 years old too?”

Jessica shook her head, “No...but if you called out Sooyeon I would have answered. That is my Korean name. Sooyeon Jung. Since I lived in America most of my life, I just let people call me by that name. Only my parents still call me by my Korean name.”

Taeyeon’s heart raced, “So...you are Sooyeon?”

Jessica reached up to caress Taeyeon’s face, “Yes...I may not be the same Sooyeon as you knew in 1859 but I still want to be your Sooyeon.”

“You believe me?”

“Well I may be a bit gullible but these photos...I don’t think I can deny these. However if I grow old and you remain young, I wouldn’t mind. I still love you.”

“You love me?”

“I didn’t get to tell you before but I do. I love you Taeyeon. From first sight, to the first date, our first kiss until now...I fell for you over and over again.”

Taeyeon leaned in to give Jessica a tender kiss, “I love you too.” Jessica smiled as she felt familiar sparks guide the kiss until Taeyeon ended it with a peck, “Thank you for believing me.”

Jessica leaned back to caress her face but her hands went to outline a wrinkle as Taeyeon smiled, “Did you always wrinkle here?”

Taeyeon quickly got off the bed to look in the mirror, “I am not sure.”

Jessica went behind Taeyeon to give her a back hug, “I hope I am as cute as you when I get wrinkles too.”

Taeyeon leaned her head back on Jessica’s shoulder, “You will be forever young in my heart love.”

“As in mine.”

Chapter 7: Damn, well like many others, I'm sure we all have our opinions on cheating... I don't think I would be the type of person to forgive such an act, but then again, context matters. I'm sure Taeyeon feels very strongly about love, which is why she's forgiving. Jessica's line "i can hurt her and not feel bad about it" hits hard, though. I think maybe they need to try out polyamory or swinging lol.
