Chapter Fifteen: Sora
Spectrum {[Apply Closed]}As soon as Sora got word that he, unlike the others, would be getting an extra day off due to him having to visit his family in Japan, he automatically messaged them to tell them the news. The nights before his trip, he told those whom he shared a room with what he would do in Japan with his family and how much he had missed them. He had talked to s who had taken time off (some more often than others) to see their families more frequently that he had. Sora had only been able to see his family on official holidays or birthdays, but that changed though as he and the other nine came closer to their possible debut. So, it was really only on very important holidays that he found himself returning to Japan.
At the airport, Sora kept chatting with his brother, which continued on the airplane until the stewardess threatened to take his mobile phone away. It bother him not being able to do anything for a couple of hours, so he cured his boredom through talking to his seat mate, weither the guy liked it or not.
He only fell silently on the plane as it came to a halt as it finally touched down in none other than Kanagawa, Japan – his birthplace and the place the rest of his family lived. Once the plane touched down, his seat mate was one of the first off the plane due to him rushing away from his seat – causing Sora to laugh quite a lot. After going through customs and gathering his bag, he moved with the mass of bodies from his plane to the lobby of the airport. He followed the little ocean of bodies out the doors and into where he knew there was a taxi waiting for him – sent by his brother. He looked at the license plate number on his phone, comparing it to the ones on the taxi’s, finally finding his after about half an hour of searching.
The taxi then took him home – a place he was eager and excited to be back at after spending so much time in Seoul, training and participating in the audition that had yet to come to its end. However, his excitement level decreased a bit as he walked into his family’s home to see that neither of his parents were home to welcome him back, however, his eleven-year-old sister was there happily awaiting his arrival with his twenty-one year old brother.
“Welcome back oppa!” stated Minjee, happily hugging her brother – who was even years older than her, “I missed you.”
“It’s good to be back and see you Minjee,” stated Sora, smiling happily towards the younger girl, enveloping her into a large ‘bear’ hug.
“It’s been so quiet here, even though you’ve been training for about five years now, I still haven’t been able to get used to how quiet it is around here,” stated Minjee, pouting towards her oppa.
“I take it that mom and dad aren’t around too often still,” Stated Sora, his siblings nodded – his hyung carried his bags farther into the home – to the male’s bedroom as his younger sister happily took his hand and started pulling him into the living room, so that the male could relax a little bit after his flight.
After a couple of hours of them just sitting around talking – well, more like Sora talking to his siblings about his hyungs and dongseangs in the trainee group and about the company and the intense practices he had been through as of late– his brother Yamato, who worked as a journalist, decided to help his brother by doing a practice interview with the male, since they both figured that the 94 liner just may be having to go through an interview in all due time – weither it be with the group or sololy, it would be happening.
“So, let’s start out with some basic questions first,” stated Yamato, looking at his brother – acting as if he was actually a journalist interviewing the male for a story, “We’ll start off with some questions that’ll hopefully allow the fans to learn more about you and then move into more personal questions.”
Sora nodded in understanding, humming – happy that his hyung was helping him with something that he’d probably have to do weekly, if not more frequently, if he gets into Spectrum.
“First question, what are you specialties in the group?”
“I’m one of the members in charge of singing and dancing,” stated Sora, answering the question smoothly and with ease – much to his brother’s surprise.
“What were your past training experiences like? Where you in another company before Top Media? If so, who and for how long.” questioned Yamato, asking the question despite knowing most everything about his brother – he knew that he had to get his brother used to interviews and to do that, that he had to be serious and act as some other interviewer – asking questions that he head people asking stars quite often.
“I was under Cube Entertainment, prior to joining Top Media,” stated Sora, “My first year in Cube was pure horror – prior to entering the company, I had never been trained to dance for so long. The nights had been tiring, but it was all worth it since it is my dream to be an idol and I even fought against my laziness. During my first few years of training, I never really talked to anyone – no one really talked to me due to me being a Japanese trainee. As for my experiences in Top Media, I found new friends in the company rather quickly since I was always the one who tended to make fun of everything, entertaining my friends that way.”
“Which was better your time in Cube or your time in Top Media?”
“Both were good times, I learned a lot in each company – however, I have to say I like Top Media better, since I’ve come so close to debut and because I’m not considered a ‘foreigner’ in Top Media, unlike Cube Entertainment, where I seemed to be outcasted because of my origin.”
Yamato smiled towards his younger brother, “Your interview skills have improved since last time – you’ve in no way stated anything that could possibly lead to a scandal, plus, you handled all the questions well – especially the ones including both Cube and your current company, Top Media.”
Sora smiled at his hyung’s words, thankful for the praise after hearing some harsh ones from his trainers and instructors within the company - plus he had sat through hours and hours of interview training in the company and at one time made it feel as if his head was spinning since he had to sit through so many hours of the boring class.
The day passed rather quickly after the interview practice, Sora had found himself talking to his siblings about: the whole audition, the other males he had met during his time in Top Media, as well as preparations for the final round of auditions. They talked and talked about life, both in their lives in Japan and his life in South Korea. Time had passed rather quickly, so quickly, they were surprised to see that it was dark when they heard the front door closing.
As soon as the door was opened and closed again, the trio stood up from where they were previously sitting and moved silently towards the door – all prepared to attack if it was some one that wasn’t wanted in the house. However, when they saw that it was their mother coming home late from work, they all froze – greeting the woman happily. Sora ran to his mother, automatically hugging her once she got into his reach – happy that she had come home to visit him, since he had honestly thought that she wouldn’t due to her work.
“Sora-honey, why aren’t you asleep?” questioned his mother, “It’s late and you have one final day here, I don’t want you to be tired tomorrow, plus this is your vacation – you should be realizing and catching up on all the sleep you’ve said that you’ve lost since the training got so serious.”
Sora looked up at his mother hummed, smiling towards her, “Alright, mom.”
“However, since you’re already up, let’s talk – it’s not every day I get to see my middle child,” stated Sora’s mother, hugging her younger son yet again.
As his mother said, the four moved back into the living room and began to talk more – Sora retelling his stories to his mother, which lead to his younger sister dismissing herself from the conversation to the go to bed since it was calling her. After his sister left, his mother changed the conversation to a more serious topic that Sora would rather avoid at his current, rather sleepy state.
“Sora, what if you don’t make it into the group?” questioned his mother, “There are six spots, and four aren’t going to make it. What if you don’t make it into the group?”
“If I don’t make it into the group, I’ll go back into training and try again for the next boy band,” stated Sora, “Whenever that is.”
Sora’s mother sighed, but nodded, “Work hard alright, I really would like to see you debuting now instead of in possible years.”
Sora smiled and nodded in understanding, smiling at his rather supportive mother – the said male happily kissed his mother’s cheek as the woman told him to get to bed.
The following morning,, he was a little disappointed when he woke up because his mother had left without saying good-bye to him – to anyone, however, the disappointment vanished because he had been expecting it, even though he didn’t like to admit to it he was.
The day was filled with talking to his brother and sister and spending time with him, Yamato had taken Sora and their younger sister out for breakfast and was later followed by lunch and dinner and eventually they got ice cream for dessert since the temperature was slowly climbing. The whole day he took selcas, being sure to send them to his group mates and putting it on any social networking site he was on. During his whole entire time in Japan, he spent his days with his brother and sister – who he had missed dearly since the beginning of his training and before they knew it, Sora had to return to Seoul to resume his training for the big showcase that was indeed the final audition.
Only just before he had to go, his father had contacted him, alerting him that he was waiting for his son near the pilot lounge in the airport. The employees knew Sora well, from the countless times he had been in the airport, they automatically let him into the lounge to visit his father – who they knew that he hadn’t seen in a good while.
“Sora,” stated the man, hugging his son upon his arrival at the lounge.
“Hey, dad,” stated Sora, hugging the man in response, a wide smile on his face – despite how sad he felt, he didn’t feel sad about seeing his father – in no way was he disappointed, it just was that he had missed his father so greatly and it had made him think about how scarcely he saw his family members, how little he had seen them due to his time training. He silently hoped that in the long run, the sacrifice would be worth it and that he would get into a group – weither it be Spectrum or some other group.
“How have you been?” questioned his father like every other time.
“I’ve been well, I was rather tired up until recently due to how harsh training has been getting,” stated Sora, “I heard that after we all return from our little vacations, the training is going to be getting even harder.”
The man hummed in understanding, “You all are nearly there though, just a couple of weeks before you finally who worked hard enough to get into the group and who gets their chance to debut.” Sora nodded, looking into his father’s eyes as the man continued, “Listen, I know I haven’t really been there, but I can guarantee you that your mother and I will be in Seoul to see you perform in the final audition – to support you as you face the final road block that stands between you and debuting.”
Sora smiled happily at his father’s words and prayed that they would be true, that he and his mother – hopefully his siblings as well, would all come to the final audition – where the tension would be the highest it had ever been.
“I’d like that,” stated Sora, looking at his father, who hugged him again as Sora’s flight back to Seoul was announced.
“I’ll see you later,” stated his father, pressing a chaste kiss to his son’s fore head, “Sora, message me when you land, also, take care of yourself, you don’t want something to happen to you when you’re so close to achieving your dream.”
Sora smiled and nodded yet again, hugging his father before forcing himself to get away from the said man, knowing that his father’s presence was going to make him want to stay in Japan, that it would cause him to miss his flight back to Seoul – which was the last one in the day, since he had wanted to spend as much time with his family as possible before returning to the competition that was slowly growing tenser as the showcase drew nesrer.
Here is Sora's (JoonieMoon) chapter, this marks eight out of the ten. The other two characters' chapters are currently in the process of being proof read, so the story will continue soon and soon six of the ten will be chosen (still have no idea as to whom five of the final six will be).
