Preparations
A Wall In between
The weekend finally arrived and Myungsoo told me to bring my guitar over on both days. For the video we have to sing, we have to try and impress them as much as possible. I took my guitar next door and he started teaching me.
"Are you sure I'm allowed here?" I asked.
"Why not? He's gone anyways. It's not like I'll let him kick you out" Myungsoo said.
"That's good to hear" I sighed.
"Why you don't like him?" he asked.
"No no please don't get the wrong idea" I replied.
"Don't worry about it just continue with the chords" he said. I nodded and he taught me the chords needed to play the songs. Of course he played the main guitar parts while I played the minor parts in the background. Although I only needed to play a few chords, it was really hard to keep up with him. I needed more practice to get to the level I was needed at. Though it was hard to learn, I still managed to pull it off somehow. Like I mentioned I only needed to play a few chords in the background so it was fine. Myungsoo on the other hand perfected his playing to a bigger extent. This guy impressed me more and more with all the hidden talents he had. He might have a bad attitude but he is a fast learned I gotta say that. I put the guitar down and looked at my fingers, covered in marks I got from the strings.
"Tired already?" Myungsoo teased.
"Already? We've been practicing for more than and hour. My fingers are hurting" I complained. He showed me his fingers with no marks at all.
"I'm still fine" he laughed.
"Stupid that's because you're skin has hardened." I said.
"Okay lets take a break then. I'll go and get something to drink" he smiled and left. Geez he loves showing off. I looked at my fingers.
"That's what I get for not practicing.... Pabo" I said to myself. I remembered how good Myungsoo was. I picked my guitar up again.
"I won't lose to him" I said and started practising by myself. Bit by bit I improved and could play the chords faster and faster. I was interupted by a noise outside the door. I got startled and stopped playing and looked around. Myungsoo was standing there all this time.
"You may be stupid but I gotta admit, you are a fast learner" he smiled. His words made me smile.
"Really? You just complimented me" I smiled.
"Stop letting that get to your head and continue" he laughed. He held out a cup of hot chocolate. I took it off him after putting my guitar away.
"It took me some time to find the chocolate powder. Be grateful" he said.
"It's cold" I pointed out.
"So is my coffee. That's how long you were playing" he complained.
"Stop already!". We drank our beverages and put the cups away.
"How about we practice the actual song now and give your fingers a break?" he asked. I nodded without hessitation. He laughed and got up the lyrics for the song. We both read it a few times and decided to practice singing. It was much more easier than playing the guitar and I felt like I could actually do something properly for once. He got out his guitar and handed me mine.
"Now lets do both" he smiled. I hesitated to take mine but I still took it. We began playing. He started singing. It wasn't bad for the first try. It was actually really good. I continued playing the few chords I had to play. He stopped playing.
"You were meant to sing your lines now" he said.
"Oh sorry". He sighed and we started again. Again he started off with his lines and I started singing mine right after. He stopped playing again.
"You are meant to play the guitar too" he pointed out.
"Sorry lets start again" I smiled to which he sighed. He started off again. Still good as always and looked at me while he was playing. It was my turn now but I stopped playing. He stopped playing too.
"Huh? It's my turn already?" I asked.
"Where were you looking while playing?" he shouted.
"Again?" I forced a smile out. He didn't seem impressed.
"Okay I'll try to do it properly this time but don't look at me. It makes me nervous" I said.
"When was I looking at you?" he asked.
"While you are playing." I answered.
"Why would I look at you?" he laughed.
"You clearly did at the 'it's awkward calling us friends, instead let's call ourselves lovers part'" I said. I froze when I realised what I said.
"I looked at the clock and not you stupid" he said after staying quiet.
"Lets just continue. I'll do it properly this time" I said and got ready to play. He started singing and this time I made sure to do it correctly.
"It's pretty good. This should do for the second round auditions. Shall we record?" he asked to which I nodded. He went to his wardrobe and got out a camera. I looked at the mirror sorting out my hair and my sitting position.
"Instead of trying to sort yourself out, sort your guitar skills out" he smirked.
"First impressions count you see" I said.
"If thats the case we'll never pass this round with you" he laughed.
"Idiot" I pouted. He set up his camera and came and sat down.
"Can't you do anything properly? Your fringe is in a mess." he said. I looked in the mirror to notice that my fringe WAS in a mess.
"I'll do it" he said and leaned over and started sort out my fringe.
"Better?" I asked.
"Much better" he smiled. I looked at the mirror and noticed that he did sort it out and didn't just ruin it even more.
"Okay lets start" he said. I nodded. We both looked into the camera.
"Hello I'm Lee Hyunsoo." I bowed.
"I'm Kim Myungsoo" Myungsoo bowed too.
"We are team number 28. We haven't yet decided on a team name" I smiled.
"What about your suggestion? Choco Milk" he asked.
"I thought you wouldn't like it" I said.
"It's fine lets use that" he smiled. I smiled back.
"Lets do a proper introduction" I said. We looked at the camera again.
"1,2,3" I whispered.
"Hello we are team 28" we both started.
"I'm Kim Myungsoo" Myungsoo introduced himself.
"And I'm Lee Hyunsoo. Together we are" I continued.
"Choco Milk" we both said insync and started laughing.
"We chose Juniels and Yonghwas 'Fool' to represent the first theme." Myungsoo said.
"In our view 'First love' is something magical and indescribeable. Someones first love will be love you cannot forget. This song expresses the feeling of first love with a happy, warm hearted and bright image showing love in the summer. Please enjoy our performance" I finished off and we got ready to play sing. We sang the song. I was nervous as I didn't want to mess up our recording so I focused. Myungsoo on the other hand was really relaxed and layed back. I came to realise that he tried to match the theme with his posture and expressions which I wasn't doing. I decided to smile throughout the song. I would occasionally turn to look at Myungsoo to see how he was doing while he would usually notice me looking at me and look at me which made me turn to face my guitar. I would sometimes catch him looking at me and keep my head down while smiling trying not to mess up. We finished recording.
"Thank you for watching" I smiled.
"We hope that you'll choose us" Myungsoo said. We both waved and Myungsoo turned the camera off. I let out a big sigh.
"Good job shorty. You managed not to mess up" he said.
"I'm surprised myself" I smiled. He got his laptop in order to send the clip off. We entered the website and opened the form. He uploaded the clip. We filled in the rest of the form with out Candidate number, names, ages, date of birth etc. We reached the end and there was a question. 'Why are you doing this auditioning?' I started typing.
"To-win-the-apple-mac-book" I said while typing. Myungsoo facepalmed himself.
"Idiot if you send that, they won't accept us" he said.
"What else do you want me to write? That is everyones clear objective right? And seeing TVXQ of course." I argued back.
"Well..." he couldn't argue back.
"Okay just make some emotional, inspiring speech up." I said while handing the laptop to him. He wrote a small paragraph saying things like 'trying out something new', 'being interested in music', 'wanting to have fun', 'trying to get closer to eachother' etc. We sent the form of after checking the grammar and spellings. I stretched and got up.
"Leaving already?" he asked. I sat back down again.
"Shall we watch the recording? We didn't watch it before sending it" I suggested.
"Sure" he nodded. He looked under 'My videos' on his laptop and found the recording and played it.
'Can't you do anything properly? Your fringe is in a mess' we both heared. Wait he recorded this aswell. Our expressions hardened after seeing the fringe sorting out part and the team name making up part. I also noticed that I looked at him too many times during the footage.
"Can't we get the video back somehow and remake it?" I asked.
"It's impossible to get it back" he said.
"Aish this is so embarrassing. You could have told me that the camera was recording the whole time. Besides you knew" I pouted.
"I forgot it was on the whole time" he said. I wanted to atleast get the video back and crop out the first bit.
"Nothing can be done now it's sent. We have to wait for the results" he said.
"We should have checked the video before sending it. Besides the deadline is this next thursday. We had so long left" I said.
"Whats done is done. We just have to wait for the reply" Myungsoo said.
"Aish it's still bothering me!!" I shouted.
"I'll be going then. We have homework to do" I smiled and got up. He dropped me to the front door carrying my guitar and I went home and started my homework.
We just have to wait for their reply....
