Nightmare
A Wall In between
Today was a good day!
I fell asleep. I had a bad nightmare. A ghost chasing me up the stairs. The stairs got longer and longer and steeper and steeper. They got smaller and smaller and I got afraid I was going to fall into the gap. When I looked down there was nothing. Just dark empty space. I looked behind. It was a murdered woman with blood all over her face and a creepy smile. Her eyes were big and she didnt have any pupils. Her hair was black and messy. She wore a white rope covered in blood floating on the floor. He had a knife covered in her own blood in her hand wanting to kill me with it.
*I will kill you*, I heared over and over again.
"No leave me alone", I moaned.
The stairs got smaller and smaller. I started sweating and I was shivering in fear. My castophobia came back. The stairs became even smaller seeming that it would soon get impossible to walk on them.
*I will kill you*, I heared again and again.
"Leave me alone", I moaned again. I ran more and more. Suddenly the stairs dissappeared and I fell down into the emptiness.
"NOOOOO", I screamed. My body jerked and I woke up from my sleep. I looked around and breathed quite heavily. I looked at the clock. It only 5pm. I got startled when I heared someone bang against my wall.
"Yaah are you okay?", I heared someone say. It was Myungsoo.
"Yes", I answered still in shock.
"Nightmare?", he asked.
"Mhm", I let out to tell him that he was right.
"Mind sharing?", he asked. I couldnt answer since I was still in shock.
"Do you want to go out for a while? To take a walk of course!", he asked. I still didnt answer. "I will ring the bell so open the door".
After a while I heared the door bell ring. I went and opened it. It was Myungsoo.
"Yo mind taking a walk?", he asked. I shook my head showing that I didnt mind. I left the house and closed the door behind me. We walked and reached the park.
"Want to walk around?", he asked. I nodded.
"Come on you can talk!", he said. He grabbed my hand.
"Look noone can do anything if you have someone as handsome and strong like me with you", he said. I smiled.
I finally looked up to notice the sky being clear but it was so dark. No clouds but so many stars. Arent stars normally a symbol of hope.
"So mind sharing?", he asked.
"Well I had a nightmare.", I started. He was listening.
"I ran up these stairs which kept going on and on. The stairs were in empty space, there was darkness underneath. I was followed by this female ghost who treatened to kill me", I continued.
"You were scared of the ghost?", he asked. I shook my head.
"I wasnt scared of the ghost. The stairs got smaller and smaller. My castophobia probably kicked in. Although it may not sound scary to you, the idea of being trapped in a small space is really scary to me. I probably got affected by that.", I said. He nodded.
"You should probably go to a psychologist before your phobia gets worse", he said in a worried voice.
"I'm fine though. See", he let go of his hand and skipped around to show him I was okay.
"Do what you want but you should get it checked before something happens", he said.
"Yeah yeah dont ruin my mood today!", I demanded. But inside I was scared. I knew this was something I cant get rid of. Something that will haunt me for the rest of my life. Something I shouldnt share with others. But for some reason, although he is really rude and egoistic, I'm glad I have Myungsoo who listens to me. Someone I could count on. A friend(?) I think.
I walked at the front with Myungsoo behind me. I stopped and turned around.
"Hey Myungsoo! If there is something you need to talk about with someone, you always have me. Just wanted to let you know", I said while smiling. It was the least I could do. We took a few more walks around the park and went home.
"Why dont you come over? My mum cooked already.", he asked.
"Are you sure? I eat a lot!", I asked.
"Yes I know. You can since you havent cooked yet.", he said. I laughed.
"Good Evening Everyone", I said before entering. Both Monsoon and their mother greeted me. But today I saw another face. A tall man in his late fifties. Some of his hair is silver already and he is wearing glasses. I entered the house and looked at him who looked back at me.
"Oh thats my dad by the way. You havent met him yet have you?", Myungsoo said.
"Oh. Good evening sir I'm Lee Hyunsoo, your neighbour. I'm in the same class as Myungsoo. Nice to meet you.", I said while bowing.
"Good evening", he said back. He didnt seem to talk much. He reminds me of Myungsoo.
"Our father has a lot of oversea trips all around the year so he comes and goes a lot", Monsoon explain.
"Oh I understand. Its the same with my dad. He went a few weeks ago but still isnt back.", I said.
"Why dont you come in and talk dear?", their mother said. I nodded and walked into their living room to sit down. Myungsoo, Monsoon and their father sat opposite me. I felt awkward. Their mother walked in.
"Why Hyunsoo dear dont you feel well today? You normally talk a lot.", she asked. I giggled.
"Thats because I have yet to think about something to talk about", I joked making her laugh. She went back to the kitchen.
"So you are in the same class as my son?", their father asked. I nodded. He seemed intimidating. Seems like Myungsoo took after him while Monsoon took after their mother.
"Thats the girl who made us dinner a few times. I told you dad", Monsoon said. "Thats also the same girl who Hyung took out today.".
Now I felt really awkward. Myungsoo signalled Monsoon that he will be dead if he said more.
"Whats your current rank?", he asked.
"Pardon?", I asked.
"Your rank in school", he said.
"Third.", Myungsoo answered for me. He stared at Myungsoo for a while.
"I'm not impressed with you Myungsoo. Your performance dropped from first to seventh. Dissappointing", he said. I looked down.
"I will do better next time", Myungsoo said hopelessly. He then got up and went upstairs.
"Sorry Noona. He isnt usually like this. He is stressed with his work.", Monsoon explained. I nodded. Their mother soon brought food to the table and we all ate.
"Isnt your father going to eat?", I asked.
"He is probably asleep. Mind your own business and eat your own food", Myungsoo said. Whats up with him? One moment he is nice the next he back to normal.
"Dont worry he will eat later", Monsoon smiled. I just kept eating and finished . Their mother packed me some food and gave it to me. I thanked her and bowed. She smiled. I went back home.
"Myungsoo why dont you stay with her until her mother comes home?", their mother suggested.
"No its fine.", I said.
"No no its alright. It will make me worried leaving you alone", she said.
"Dont worry my mum will come soon. Besides I will go to sleep after a shower anyways so I will be fine", I smiled. I soon left.
What a strange family!
