Chapter 67: Space Between Dimensions

KO One Re-Live

Da Dong sighed as he in Yu Tang into another Snap Trap Card. She had jumped out of nowhere and wounded his torso pretty badly. But he was quick enough to dodge her second attack and quickly pull out another Snap Trap Card to capture her. It had happened all pretty quickly and Da Dong didn't even know how long he had been wandering the airship. He knew it was midnight when he snuck out of his house, but who knew how long it had been since then? He yawned as continued to walk down a wider passage. Although he was tired, the desire to find his friends gave him the energy to continue searching.

After a while, he found himself in front of a heavy door with a glowing red light seeping through the gaps between the doors and the walls. Curiously, he pushed it open and walked into a large laboratory. It was dimly lit but Da Dong could see lots of equipment, tubes and large glass cylinders. Amazed, he closed the door behind him and walked deeper. He stopped at a large desk with notebooks opened on messy pages of writing, with pens lying still in a disorganised fashion, with a test tube rack holding test tubes with chemicals inside. "Is our enemy some sort of scientist?" he muttered, flipping through the notebooks.

The notebooks were filled with words he didn't understand and there was alot of scientific information. But then a profile page caught his eye. "Jiang Yu Yan," he read aloud, looking at a picture of her that was pasted on the corner of the page. He read through all the information about her and after a few moments, the notebook slipped out of his hands and hit the floor. "No... that's not true..." he whispered blankly, with his eyes frozen in shock. It took him a while for all the information he read to sink in. When it did, he pulled himself out of his daze and planted his eyes on a screen.

Again, his eyes widened after seeing the security footage of his friends in real time. "The enemy knew we were here all along?" he said, nervously, "Then he could attack us at any moment. , we have to escape!" He looked at the small rectangle in the bottom corner that spied on Xiao Yu and he gasped when he saw Yu Yan's father sitting next to his unconscious form. "Xiao Yu!" he muttered, leaning in to have a closer look. He saw Xiao Yu lying on the floor unmoving, but then suddenly Xiao Yu sat up. His face was a pale white and fear was present on his face. He watched Xiao Yu become an emotional mess and then saw the little colour in his face drain away when he saw Yu Yan's father.

Almost at the same time, the sound of glass shattering entered Da Dong's ears, causing him to tear the page on Yu Yan out of the notebook quickly and shove it into his pocket. Bravely, he ran over to see where the noise had come from.

Yu Yan, who was asleep inside a glass chamber, suddenly woke up. Even though she was blind, her eyes shot open and her sudden awakening exerted a bit too much force so the glass that encased her cracked almost everywhere. Her breathing was uneven and sweat was beginning to form on her forehead. "What... was that?" she whispered, "I'm blind... how could I have dreamt?" she muttered, thinking about what she had just seen in her mind. Me and that Ding Xiao Yu...? That's impossible.... Her heart was beating quite quickly and because of that she was anything but calm.

"Yu Yan?" Da Dong called as he approached her. He saw her body surrounded in some sort of chemical-like jelly and several wires were feeding in and out of her. He wiped off the horror from his face to try and think clearly about a way to get her out of there.
Yu Yan furrowed her brows, "Wang...Da Dong?" she replied slowly, "What the hell are you doing here?"
"I've come to take you back home," he responded, looking up at her.
Does this guy think I was kidnapped? she thought, "What... happened?" she asked cautiously.
"Lots happened, it's all too much to explain," he told her, "I'm going to find a way to get you out of there, okay?"
"No, leave me alone," Yu Yan spat, "Go away."

Da Dong gave her a puzzled look, "Don't you want to go back with us?"
"Like hell I do!" she barked at him.

Da Dong then remembered the part on the notebook about Yu Yan's change in personality after being hit on the head. A light bulb then flashed in his mind. Without a second thought, he punched the already cracked glass chamber and caused it to break. All the liquids inside poured out and Yu Yan's body fell forwards, right into Da Dong's arm. "Wang-" she was cut off when Da Dong hit her on the head with quite a lot of force, knocking her out completely.
Hopefully that did something useful, he thought to himself as he detached Yu Yan's body from all the wires.

After carefully putting her on his back, Da Dong then explored the laboratory. He stared in awe at the glowing globe of yi neng that was shining in vibrant colours. "Is this all the stolen yi neng?" he muttered, placing his hand against it. As soon as his hand came into contact with the globe, an alarm sounded, causing him to jump backwards in surprise. Flashing red lights then flooded the room and the deafening sound of a siren sounded. Suddenly a small door in the corner of the room opened, revealing hundreds of clones of Yu Yan filing out. They were all wearing hospital gowns and had small plaques with codes on them around their necks. Da Dong's eyes widened at the sight of all the clones and he backed away as they approached him like mindless minions.

"Get him!" one of them yelled. Suddenly, they were all rushing towards him.
"," Da Dong cursed as he looked at the only Snap Trap card he had left. He bit his lip before holding onto Yu Yan tightly; this was going to be a tough situation to get out of.

Ya Se, Lei Ke Si and Hong Guang scrutinised a wooden board that had a faded map scribbled onto it in white chalk. "This isn't as detailed as I thought it would be," Ya Se grumbled with a sigh. He put down the map and looked at his friends.
"What now?" Hong Guang asked as he slumped against the wall.
"We're trapped in some basement right? So we should be able to escape from the ceiling right?" Lei Ke Si responded, "As long as we go up then that should be fine."
"Well the ceiling isn’t too high up but even if we can make it up somehow, what about Ella?" Hong Guang asked.
"And how do we make a hole?" Ya Se added.
"Simple," Lei Ke Si smiled as put up his fist, "We blow a hole through the ceiling," he said as though it was obvious.

"Don't be as reckless as Egomaniac," Ya Se warned, "We don't have anything to protect us from any falling debris and how would we even get up there?"
"The two of you can create yi neng force fields and as for how to get up there..." Hong Guang smirked at Ya Se.
His smirk spread to Lei Ke Si and the two of them laughed evilly at Ya Se who looked at them confused.
Before he knew it, Lei Ke Si smashed through the ceiling and the next thing he knew, both Lei Ke Si and Hong Guang were using him as a ladder and climbed up to the to hole in the ceiling. Ya Se grumbled as he felt Ella's body being dragged upwards over his head. "This wasn't what I had in mind..." he grumbled.

Hong Guang smiled and lent his hand down to him which Ya Se grabbed onto. Ya Se was then pulled up through the whole by Hong Guang and Lei Ke Si. "Thanks," he grumbled, dusting off his hair and shoulders.
"You're welcome for being our ladder," Lei Ke Si laughed. Ya Se scowled, annoyed, until another voice came in.

"Hey, are you alright?"

Ya Se looked up from his kneeling position to see a hand extended towards him. He looked at the face of its owner and he jerked away in surprise.

"Hey Calvin, what's wrong?" another guy came in.
"Da Dong?!" the boys exclaimed looking at the other guy that walked towards them. They then looked at the other guy.
"Ya Se! Why is there two of you?!" Hong Guang asked as he looked at the two other people that looked exactly like Ya Se and Da Dong. Ya Se quickly got up and looked around to see that they were in a weird looking room that looked like a filming set in Zhong Ji Yi Ban.
'Calvin' looked at them all before poking Ya Se's cheek, "You must be my number one fan right? You even got surgery to look like me!" he chuckled.
Ya Se scowled and bat his hand away, "Who wants to look like you?! This is my natural face!" he yelled at him.
The Da Dong look alike put a hand on Calvin's shoulder, "Just let the fans have their fun okay? Look they're even cosplaying our characters, how cute is that?" he laughed as another voice came in but it was that of a female.
"Jiro!" A girl that looked like Yu Yan approached them, "The director wants you to film that scene with Yu Tong again, he said it could've been better with your ability," she informed, flipping through a script.

The boys looked at the title of the script she was holding and it was titled 'KO One 1.5: Re-Live' and then they realised that the several other people in the room were carrying a copy as well.

"Again? But Hebe, I'm so hungry!" Jiro whined as he followed behind.

“Jiro, I thought you liked everything to be perfect?” they heard Hebe ask.

“I do, but right now I’m hungry,” Jiro responded
Calvin then turned around to watch them leave, "Jiro, Aaron said he brought some buns maybe you could go find him before you re-film that scene?"
"I heard my name?" Another voice popped out of nowhere.
"Xiao Yu?!" Ya Se whispered in shock, watching these people go about their activities.
"Do you mind sharing your buns with Jiro?" Calvin asked, "He's pretty hungry but has to re-shoot that scene with Hebe."
Aaron nodded and reached into his bag before laying eyes on the boys and Ella, "Oh? Fans?" he asked, "I didn't know we were letting fans on the set today," he muttered.

"We're not fans!" Ya Se exclaimed, "Who are you people?"
Aaron smiled at him kindly, "Hi, I'm Aaron Yan and I play the character Ding Xiao Yu in KO One."
"Ding Xiao Yu?" Lei Ke Si repeated, looking at his friends suspiciously.
Aaron nodded and then pointed to Calvin and then over at Jiro, "That's Calvin Chen who plays Wang Ya Se and that's Jiro Wang who plays Wang Da Dong," he explained.
"Aaron Yan? Calvin Chen? Jiro Wang?" Lei Ke Si then gasped, "Fahrenheit?"
Aaron nodded, "Do you know us?"
Hong Guang eyed them all as he observed the filming set which looked like it was set in their classroom, "I think I know where we are..." he muttered, before dragging his friends to a corner, leaving Aaron smiling awkwardly at them.

"Where are we?" Ya Se inquired.
"Because we're in the Space Between Dimensions, things like this are common," Hong Guang began, "A similar thing like this happened with Xia Tian's mother."
Ya Se nodded slowly in remembering the story, "So this isn't real?"
"No one knows," Hong Guang shrugged, "But anything could happen. The space between dimensions are filled with demons and lost people who have become zombies. Keep your guard up, okay?"
"Maybe we should stick with them, they could help us," Lei Ke Si suggested, looking over at Aaron, Jiro and Calvin.
"Let's go then-" Ya Se was cut off when a lady in round glasses cleared in front of them.

"Fans aren't allowed to be beyond this point, please go outside," she said sternly, pointing over at the distance, "Unless you are with the actors then you are not allowed to be on the set."
Hong Guang apologised briefly, avoiding her hard gaze as she looked very scary.
"Ah Tina," Jiro hurried over to them, "Don't scare away our fans! Let them stay, we'll be off for the day soon anyway," he smiled brightly at them and Tina sighed reluctantly.
"Okay Jiro, but if they cause any trouble I'm afraid you will have to take responsibility," Tina informed.
Jiro put his thumbs up, "You got it! You're the best, thanks Tina!" He grinned before turning to the group, "Come on, you guys can get a sneak peak of a cool fight scene!"
He then led them away into another room that looked like the living room where Da Dong had encountered Yu Tong.

"What are your names by the way?" Da Dong asked them as he led the way.
"Wang Ya-" Hong Guang nudged Ya Se which caused him to stutter, "Uh... Da Ye!" he babbled awkwardly.
"Da Ye! Nice to meet you!" Jiro beamed and then looked at Hong Guang and Lei Ke Si, "What about you guys?"
"Leng Lie," Lei Ke Si responded firmly.
"Jin, Nan Feng Jin," Hong Guang replied before pointing to Ella, "And she's uh...Xiao.... er... Xiao...?"
"Xiao Xiao?" Jiro chuckled, "Nice to meet you all! But are you sure Xiao Xiao is alright? She looks quite sick. You don't look too good yourself Jin," he added.
Before Hong Guang could reply, they heard the director call Jiro. He quickly apologised and headed over to the set.
"Hey guys, come over here!" they then turned around to see Aaron gesturing them over to a couple of chairs where he was sitting, "Let's watch him from here okay?"

Jiro put on his Zhong Ji Yi Ban blazer before getting into position whilst the group watched him intently. As soon as the director yelled "Action!" the acting commenced.

Jiro got into a battle stance and pointed a dragon tattooed pan at Hebe. Ya Se looked at Aaron curiously, "Why isn't it glowing?" he asked.
"So you've seen KO One?" he asked, surprised, "The yi neng is just computer graphics, we need to film the scenes then add it in later," he explained.

"Don't make me fight you Wang Da Dong, just surrender willingly and I'll have mercy on you," Hebe said her line as she pointed a sword at Jiro.
"What is your father's plans?" Jiro asked, "And how are you all related to Yu Yan?!" he asked her.
Hebe laughed, "You should care more about yourself rather than that girl. Death is just around the corner for you," she replied before taking a swing at him slowly.
Jiro blocked her sword using his pan and spun around to block her several attacks.
"You're the ones doing the yi neng muggings right?" he asked breathlessly.

"Why is everything so slow?" Lei Ke Si muttered.
Calvin then sat down next to them with a bottle of water, "We do the fight scenes slower than shown on screen then speed it up," he piped up, "It's too make sure none of the actors get hurt."

The director then shouted "Cut" and Jiro and Hebe began rehearsing their busy fight scenes. After a few minutes, they filmed the fight scene.

"Wow," Ya Se muttered, interested in the scene they were filming.
"Okay Jiro, on the count of three, pull Hebe towards you!" The director called, "1....2....3!"
The boys then watched Jiro pulled Hebe towards him and then they pretended to fall backwards onto a blue mat. As they fell, they burst out laughing.

"Hebe! You bashed your head on my chin!" Jiro exclaimed, rubbing his chin as he laughed.
"I'm so sorry; I tripped over your foot!" Hebe apologised as she chuckled, "Are you okay?"
They then spent the next couple of minutes re-filming that scene from different angles without the mat.
"Okay Jiro, it's time for your fake tears," the director said as an assistant came over to Jiro with some drops. Jiro put a few drops of the salty liquid into his eyes to make it as though he was crying and then he got into position with Hebe. Eventually, the scene was completed and the actors were getting ready to go home.

"Da Ye, Jin, Leng Lie, do you guys want our autographs or a photo together?" Jiro asked as he came out of his dressing room in his normal clothes.
"We'll pass," Hong Guang replied, "But thank you."
"Ah that's alright, it's pretty late now. You boys should head home," Calvin entered their conversation.
"If you come by tomorrow, you might find Chun as well. He has some scenes to shoot tomorrow," Aaron explained, wrapping a woolly scarf around his neck.
"We'll see," Ya Se replied as they watched them leave the set.

However a few moments later, they returned but were wearing different clothes. "It's a brand new day!" Jiro stretched his arms with a grin, "The sun is out and I feel really excited about filming!"
"You're just happy because you only have to work for half of the day," Chun laughed, walking into the classroom with them.
"Hey, you guys are still here?" Calvin asked, staring at the group who were standing in the same positions they were in when they left them.
"You know them?" Chun asked and Jiro nodded.
"They're our super fans!" he exclaimed.
"Hi..." Lei Ke Si said awkwardly, feeling a little confused.
Noticing his facial expression, Hong Guang leaned over to him, "This part of the Space Between Dimensions distorts reality so time doesn't exist," he whispered and he slowly nodded.
