Chapter 62
Rain On MeA/N Double update! Read Chapter 61 if you haven't yet!
Author’s Point of View
Angie and Rani both stood in the middle of their living room, putting away files. Angie would occasionally stop and open one of the manila folders to read the information. After having done that a few times, Rani put down the file she was sorting.
“Okay, what is it?” Angie looked at Rani with wide eyes and it reminded Rani of a kid getting caught stealing from the cookie jar.
“Oh, nothing. I just can’t believe that this case is finally over.” Angie sighed.
“I’m glad it’s over. Crazy made our lives difficult.” Rani grumbled. Angie giggled before putting the file in a box.
“But it gave us a lot of opportunities. Like moving here, us becoming friends. You probably wouldn’t have met Junhyuk had we not moved here.” Angie listed.
“That’s true. I guess we can thank the crazy for something.” Rani said.
“What are you going to do now that we’re done?” Angie wondered. Rani scoffed.
“I don’t know about you but I’m going to South Korea to spend time with my tall baby. You?” Angie shrugged.
“I don’t know. More than likely go back home and spend time with my family. Meet up with old friends.” Angie explained.
“What about you and Mememon?” Rani asked. Angie merely shrugged as she stacked a box on a growing stack of other boxes.
“I don’t really know. I actually got asked out on a date by one of the police officers that did the chase with me. I guess being part of a car chase makes someone ier.” Angie giggled.
“But, I picked Mememon out specifically for you. You two look great together.” Rani couldn’t help but pout, causing Angie to laugh.
“Thank you for thinking of me but he also got asked out by one of our agents. It’s fine, Rani. Him and I are probably just meant to be friends.” Angie shrugged, not really bothered by how things turned out between her and Taehyun. Rani still seemed upset but decided to not say anything anymore. They needed to get everything packed away and sent back to the main office and write the final report for the case.
Eunjung’s Point of View
A week later, Yoonsan was allowed to leave the hospital. I sat on the couch in the room as he got dressed. I tried helping him but he ended up getting handsy so I made him change himself.
“Babe, I’m going to get something to drink. I’m thirsty.” I stood up from the couch and was leaving the room when I heard Yoonsan mutter “You’re not thirsty enough if you made me change myself.”
“Yah, I will put you back in a coma, try me, San.” I said before walking out the room. I found a vending machine close to his room and got two water bottles. I only got one water bottle out and the other one was stuck. I tried shaking the machine but it was too heavy.
“Aish! I don’t want to share with that punk.” I grumbled, holding the water bottle close to me as I glared at the machine.
“Here, let me try.” I looked and saw Dylan walk my way with Trent following close behind. I smiled and stepped out of his way. I greeted Trent with a tight hug while Dylan did something to the machine that caused my second bottle to come out.
“Hello again.” I grinned at them. Dylan handed me the water bottle but I pulled him into a tight hug.
“Hi Eunjung! How are you?” Trent asked when I let Dylan go from the hug.
“I’m doing wonderful, how about you two?”
“We’re great. We heard your husband woke up from his coma.” I nodded my head with a wide smile.
“He did and he’s doing perfectly fine. He leaves today so that’s good. He actually woke up on Christmas day so that was probably the best Christmas gift ever.” I informed them. Trent looked so happy while Dylan gave me a small smile. That’s probably the best I’ll ever see from him.
“That’s so cool! Oh, where did your ring go?” Trent got my left hand and saw that my ring wasn’t there.
“I uh, lost it. My mother-in-law is taking my husband and I to pick another one today.” Trent ahh’d before dropping my hand.
“Jagi, let’s…oh.” Yoonsan left his room and saw us. I grinned and waved him over.
“Babe, meet Trent and Dylan.” I had told him everything that happened while I had been gone and while Yoonsan was mad at first that they snatched me, he became very thankful afterwards about the fact that they tried to get me away. He was still a bit apprehensive about them.
“This is my husband, San Yoon.” Trent greeted him with a big hug, surprising Yoonsan.
“It’s nice to finally meet you! I’ve heard a lot about you. You shouldn’t be shy about wearing glasses though if you need them.” Trent innocently said.
“Jagi, you told him?!” I shrugged my shoulders with a small grin. “Oops?” He merely sighed before smiling a small smile at Trent and Dylan.
“It’s nice to meet you both. Thank you for helping Eunjung, it means a lot. If you two need anything, don’t hesitate to ask. My mom and I are very grateful to you both.” Yoonsan said. I could only smile proudly at my husband.
“Thank you but we won’t be here for that long. We’re driving to Phoenix tonight actually. A friend of mine wants to open a restaurant and asked me to work there as a chef.” Dylan informed us. Trent nodded his head with a smile.
“He’s finally going to be a chef, Eunjung!” He sounded so excited and I couldn’t help but smile as well.
“Congratulations, Dylan. We’ll have to make a trip down there sometime to visit the restaurant.” I told him. Dylan shrugged it off but I could see that he had gotten a little bashful.
“Whatever. Do what you want, I guess.” He muttered. I laughed before pulling him into another hug.
“Good luck to you both.” I said, letting him go from the hug so I could pull Trent into a hug as well.
“You too, Eunjung. And you too, San.” Trent smiled, Yoonsan smiling as well. Trent and I exchanged Instagram so we could keep in touch because I really wanted some more of Dylan’s mac n’ cheese and I know Yoonsan would want to try it as well.
“Bye Eunjung, bye Yoonsan!” Trent called as him and Dylan walked away. We waved to them until they were gone. Yoonsan and I went in the opposite direction since Mina was picking us up from a different direction.
“Aish, this has been a long year.” Yoonsan sighed, wrapping an arm around me and holding me close. I had my arms wrapped around his waist as we walked.
“Tell me about it. It feels like a k-drama.” I let out a heavy sigh as we reached Mina’s rental car. She waved excitedly at us from behind the windshield before getting out and grabbing Yoonsan’s bag and placing it in the car. She greeted us with a hug before allowing us to get in the car.
“I’m so excited to finally see your apartment! We need to pick up Mushu from Angie’s and Rani’s house first though. They are such sweet girls, Junhyuk and Taehyun have a good taste. If only your brother, Eunjung, can have the same luck. Aigoo. I should set him up with someone when they get back. Eunjung, now, I hope you don’t mind but I asked Angie to take me to the jewelry store to look at rings-“ I jumped when Yoonsan caught her off with an exasperated ‘mom’.
“I know, I know but I listen, Angie helped me get an idea of what Eunjung would like and I saw the most gorgeous ring! Eunjung, get my phone and check in the gallery. It should be the first photo there.” I did as she said, feeling a bit anxious over what it could be. I mean, I know Angie was there to help but I hardly discussed rings with her so I wasn’t sure if she would know. I know that she knows that I dislike diamonds because we had a discussion about it. She didn’t like diamonds either by the way.
“Here, it should be-woah.” I allowed Yoonsan to take the phone so he could navigate to the picture better since I felt weird about going through Mina’s phone.
“What does it look like?” Just as I was about to lean closer so I could look at the picture, Yoonsan turned the phone so I could also look. I gasped when I saw the picture.
“I hope that gasp means that you love it.” Mina said. I grinned and nodded my head before realizing that she couldn’t really see me.
“Of course! It’s so beautiful!” And it really was. I think I actually fell in love with the ring.
“Do you want to go and pick it up now? I’m sure Angie wouldn’t mind watching Mushu for another hour.” Yoonsan suggested.
“Angie of course but what about Rani? And how are you feeling? Don’t you want to go home and rest?” I wondered. Yoonsan just waved away my concern.
“Rani is more than likely with Junhyuk so she’s fine and I’m fine too. Let’s go get a ring back on your finger.” I glanced at Mina who glanced back at me—she was at a red light so it’s fine—and we just shrugged.
“Jewelry store it is then.” Mina smiled, changing lanes.
We made it to the jewelry store and Mina quickly ushered us out of the car and into the store. I’m actually impressed by how easily she got found the jewelry store since Yoonsan and I both relied heavily on GPS. When we were inside, a sales attendant came up to us and it seems like she helped Mina with her last visit because they greeted each other like they were friends.
“This is my son, San, and my beautiful daughter-in-law, Eunjung.” I couldn’t help but stick my tongue out at Yoonsan over our introductions before shaking the sales attendant’s hand.
“She really loved the ring that I saw last time. Can she see it in person?” Mina asked and the sales attendant lead us to a glass case. I felt Yoonsan wrap an arm around my waist and pull me closer when we passed by all the cases. Guess it’ll take a while until he feels completely safe.
“Here is the ring.” The sales attendant took out the small—small compared to my first one but I wasn’t complaining—ring and handed it to Mina who handed it to Yoonsan and I. We both looked at the ring and I was amazed by how gorgeous it was, even more than the picture. The ring had three thin bands that had a little bit of space between them and they were held in place by a light pink pearl that was in the center of much, much, tinier white pearls. The band in the center was silver while the bands on either side were made of pearls. The ring was so beautiful and so precious and I absolutely adored it.
“Is this ring to your liking?” The sales attendant asked. Yoonsan looked at me and I merely nodded my head because the words had been taken out of my mouth.
“If you follow me to the register, we can do the payment and the warranty and you can take it today unless you need to size it.” I quickly put the ring on to see if it fit and was happy to see that it did. I took it back off and handed it back to the sales attendant. We followed her to the register and Mina was quick to hand over her credit card.
“Think of this as my Christmas gift to you.” Mina quickly said with a smile, cutting Yoonsan and I off from protesting her buying us the ring. We decided to relent and allow her to buy me the ring.
Once everything was done, the ring was placed inside a box and handed to me but Yoonsan quickly stuck his hand out, taking the box. I went to hit him and to take the box back but Yoonsan was getting down on one knee. He smiled up at me and held the now open ring box up to me, many of the customers and workers stopping to look at us.
“Eunjung, you have made me the most happiest man this past year. Even though we’ve had our ups and downs, we made it this far and I know we can go even farther. So, will you, Kim Eunjung, make me the happiest man on Earth by marrying me?” I really wanted to smack him but also cry and give him the biggest hug.
“Yah, you dummy, we’re married already.” I wiped away some tears that were escaping and began to reach for the box but Yoonsan pulled it back.
“You have to say yes to get the ring, that’s kind of how these things work.” Yoonsan said with a smug smile.
“Yes, you jerk, I will marry you. Now give me my ring.” I helped Yoonsan up and allowed him to pull me into a hug, everyone cheering and laughing while Mina cried, holding her phone up and recording everything.
“Just wait till your mom leaves, you’re going to get it.”
