Chapter 55
Rain On MeAuthor’s Point of View
Eunjung couldn’t find it in her to fight against the man holding her after she heard the gun be fired and Mushu’s whimper. She couldn’t process the fact that they just killed her dog. Her baby, they killed her baby. Eunjung didn’t hear what the two men were saying or if they were even talking to her. Why was all this happening to her? All she wanted was to live a normal life with Yoonsan and Mushu, go to school and continue her education. That’s it, that’s all she wants so why is she being kidnapped.
“Trent, grab her and take her to the room. Make sure to lock the door.” The man holding Eunjung order when Trent stopped the car.
“Why can’t you do it, Dylan?” Trent asked, opening the door anyways. Dylan, the man who had grabbed Eunjung, handed Eunjung to Trent.
“My legs fell asleep.” Dylan said, flinching when he moved a little. Trent rolled his eyes and grabbed Eunjung. He grumbled something about how his step-brother used his British accent to get what he wants as he walked away with Eunjung towards a worn down house.
Trent put Eunjung in a room that was probably used as a bedroom during the house’s prime but it’s been years—Trent liked to say centuries—since the house has been lived in by anything over than stray animals. Trent noticed how when he gently pushed—she was a lady and should be treated as such—Eunjung into the room, she didn’t move from the spot that her body had stopped at.
“Uh, are you okay?” Trent couldn’t help but ask, hand on the handle incase she tried to make a run for it. He didn’t need Dylan to yell at him for almost letting Eunjung escape. When Eunjung didn’t make a noise or any indication that she heard him, Trent couldn’t help but worry. He yelled for his brother and ran out the house to find Dylan barely climbing out of the truck.
“Quiet down! Do you want people to hear you?!” Dylan said with a hars whisper.
“Dylan, I think something’s wrong with the girl.” Trent exclaimed. Dylan let out a groan.
“What did you do now?” Dylan pushed past Trent and stormed into the house. He called back to Trent—who was following him closely—to ask what room he put her in. Trent moved to the front of Dylan so he could lead the way and pointed into the still open bedroom.
“Why the hell is it still open?! She could’ve escaped you bloody idiot!” Trent didn’t seem fazed by his outburst as he was still worried about Eunjung.
“She won’t move and won’t speak! Do you think we broke her?” Trent wondered. Dylan let out a sigh. He loved his step-brother, he really did, but it was hard to keep his patience when dealing with him sometimes.
“Move, let me see what’s wrong.” Dylan walked into the room, Eunjung still hadn’t moved from her spot, and when he placed a hand on her shoulder to turn her around to face him, Eunjung snapped out of what ever she was in and screamed, batting the hand away and scrambled to the farthest corner in the room. She stared at them, eyes wide with fear as she tried to make herself smaller.
“You fixed her!” Trent grinned as he tried not to laugh at Dylan who was obviously startled by Eunjung’s reaction.
“Whatever. I’m going to get some food. Stay here and keep an eye on her.” Dylan ordered before walking out of the room and out the house, back to the truck.
Trent closed the door, not after looking one last time at Eunjung. When the door closed and Eunjung heard the lock click, was when she finally began to cry. She hugged herself as she sobbed, the fear of never being able to see Yoonsan or the rest of her loved ones again and the sadness of losing Mushu finally sunk in fully and all she could do was cry.
“Yoonsan, I’m sorry not listening to you. I brought this upon myself. I’m so sorry.” She repeated as she cried. Trent had been listening on the other side of the door. He was going to ask her if she needed to use the restroom when he heard her cries. He didn’t understand Korean so he didn’t know what she was saying but it didn’t take an idiot to figure out that she was sad.
Dylan came back to the house with bags of McDonald’s and found Trent sitting at the foldable table they had put in the kitchen.
“What the hell are you doing? You’re supposed to be making sure she doesn’t get away.” Dylan put the bags on the table and crossed his arms.
“Why did we grab her?” Trent asked, looking at Dylan with sad eyes.
“What do you mean? You know why, because we were paid to.” Dylan stated.
“But why?” Trent pushed the question.
“I don’t know why! Why don’t you ask her?!” Dylan exclaimed. He was too hangry to deal with his brother.
“Good idea!” Trent shot up from his chair and ran to the room. Dylan could only sigh and shake his head.
Eunjung hadn’t moved from her spot in the corner except to sink to the floor and sit. She hadn’t stopped crying either but she was sobbing as much now. Eunjung let out a small scream though when the door slammed open. Trent flinched at her scream and quickly apologized for scaring her, causing Eunjung to furrow her eyebrows. Why did he apologize?
“Hey, so I was just wondering why my brother and I got paid to kidnap you?” Trent wondered.
“Damnit, Trent! I didn’t mean for you to literally ask her! I was being sarcastic.” Eunjung heard Dylan’s voice get louder every word until he was standing next to Trent and it was then that she finally noticed his British accent.
“But you said-“ Trent got cut off by Dylan.
“Sarcasm, Trent! Sarcasm! Now let’s go eat, I’m ing starving.” Dylan tried to walk away but was stopped when Trent grabbed his arm.
“What about her?” Trent pointed to Eunjung who just watched the brothers interact.
“What about her?” Dylan deadpanned.
“Isn’t she going to eat?” Trent wondered. Eunjung sniffled and wiped at her eyes to get rid of the still falling tears just as Dylan glanced at her.
“Fine but if she runs away, you’re getting her.” Dylan grumbled, prompting Trent to grin before going over to help Eunjung up. Eunjung had become so confused over their interactions that when Trent held a hand out to her, she just grabbed it and allowed her to help him up. Weren’t kidnappers supposed to be mean and tough, she thought.
Eunjung pulled the chair out that Trent stopped her in front of and noticed how close Dylan and Trent sat. As if she would run though. She doesn’t know where they are or how long it would take for her to get to find someone who could help her.
“Here’s a burger. There’s more if you’re still hungry or something.” Dylan said as he dropped a burger in front of Eunjung. Eunjung gently took the burger and mumbled a ‘thank you’. The three ate but Dylan and Trent were the only two that talked. Eunjung was on auto-pilot as she ate, to the point that she bit her hands, crying out in shock.
“Doesn’t know how to eat a burger so why the did they pay us for this?” Dylan grumbled as he handed Eunjung a napkin.
“Who paid you?” Eunjung asked even though she had a pretty good idea.
“Some guy named Keith and a girl…what was her name, Dylan?” Trent turned to his brother.
“Colette or something foreign like that.” Dylan answered, grabbing another burger from one of the paper bags. Eunjung let out a heavy sigh, trying to fight the tears that she felt coming.
“Your dog is really pretty by the way.” Trent had noticed Eunjung’s watery eyes and decided to try to start conversation to hopefully distract her.
“Was pretty.” Eunjung corrected. Trent tilted his head to the side.
“Was?” Eunjung looked up at Trent, eyes hard. “You killed him.” This prompted Trent to shake his head.
“No I didn’t! I shot at him but I didn’t shoot him. I made sure to not hit him.” Trent assured.
“What?” Eunjung gaped. So her Mushu wasn’t dead?
“I mean, we were told to kill him but I can’t kill a dog.” Trent said. Eunjung looked down at her hands, finding it difficult to see the sad look in Trent’s eyes. She noticed the ring on her finger and felt a surge of hope.
“How much did they pay you?” Eunjung looked at Dylan who she assumed was in charge between the two. Dylan choked on his burger, not giving Eunjung an answer but that didn’t stop Eunjung.
“This ring, I can promise you is worth way more than what they paid you. Let me go and the ring is yours. I won’t tell anyone who you two are and will just mention Colette and Keith! Please.” Eunjung begged, surprising Trent and Dylan.
“But isn’t that your wedding ring?” Trent wondered. He had assumed it was a wedding ring but he didn’t really know.
“Yes but my mother-in-law and husband will understand. The ring doesn’t have the same meaning to my husband and I since we didn’t pick it but that doesn’t mean we won’t be married if I give you this ring. My husband and I aren’t materialistic people and my safety means more to him than this ring.” Eunjung pleaded, hand on the ring, ready to take it off.
“You’re married?!” Dylan exclaimed just as the front door opened.
“I hope you two did a good job or else you won’t get paid.” Eunjung visibly tensed when she heard Keith’s voice. Keith came into the kitchen and smiled, letting out a laugh when he saw Eunjung sitting at the table.
“Well, isn’t this just lovely. Hello, Eunjung. Long time no see. I’m really sorry about your arm but you brought that injury upon yourself.” Keith grinned, causing both Dylan and Trent to look at Eunjung’s casted arm.
“You won’t get away with this, Keith. You’ll get caught and you’ll be put in jail.” Eunjung said, trying to sound strong but she knew her voice waivered a little.
“Oh don’t worry your pretty little head, Eunjung. Everything will work out fine.” Keith smiled.
“No. You and Colette will be caught and I’ll get to return home to my husband, Yoonsan and him and I will continue living our lives while you and Colette rot in jail.” Eunjung put emphasis on the word ‘husband’ and felt a bit of satisfaction when she saw Keith’s smile fade away. The satisfaction was short lived though when he stormed over to her and grabbed her arm above her cast, yanking her up from her chair.
“You two leave. I need to talk to her alone.” Trent and Dylan exchanged looks, unsure but Keith noticed their hesitancy. “Now!” And the two scrambled to leave the kitchen. They stayed near by though so they could listen in on the conversation.
“I thought you were smart, so I guess you would’ve learned from the last time but it seems that you haven’t. I don’t like to be humiliated, Eunjung. We can go about this whole situation the easy way or the hard way and it all depends on how you treat me.” Keith’s tone sent fear through Eunjung’s body but she wasn’t going to show him that.
“Screw you.” Eunjung spat out before spitting in his face. Keith wiped the spit off his face and Eunjung wanted to grin at the disgusted look on his face but instead, Eunjung let out a cry of pain when he slapped her with so much force that she was ripped out of his grip and was now on the floor.
“You brought this upon yourself, Eunjung. Remember that.” Keith growled. He bent down and grabbed Eunjung’s left arm to yank the ring off and tossing it away before storming out of the house not without ordering Trent and Dylan to take her back to the room.
Trent and Dylan scrambled back into the kitchen. They had witnessed the whole scene and found themselves pitying Eunjung. Trent quickly scooped up a now crying Eunjung and brought her to the room, assuring her that Keith was gone and she was safe for now. Dylan ran a hand through his hair and let out a heavy sigh. What the hell did he get him and his brother into, he wondered.
A/N Woooo...loving where I am in the story and how I portrayed the kidnappers. Trent ended up kind of like Peter Tork from The Monkees but how he's portrayed in the show, The Monkees. It's an old show from the 60s but is very entertaining XD Idk how that happened...but my hands took over! XD
