Chapter 13
Rain On MeI took a deep breath before smiling once I saw the three boys.
“Yah, San, this is her?” One of the boys had his hair styled up, stared at me in disbelief, looking to Yoonsan for confirmation. I wasn’t sure if I should be offended or…
“Hyung, don’t be mean.” The tallest of the three scolded before smiling at me.
“Hello! I’m Go Hojeong. But you can just call me Hojeong oppa.” I couldn’t help but smile back, bowing to him.
“I’m Ha Sungwoon but you can call me Sungwoon oppa.” The shortest, he was around the same height as Yoonsan but they’re still taller than me, smiled. I smiled back, bowing to him as well.
“I’m No Taehyun but you can all me Kidmon oppa.” Kidmon? Okay, not going to question it. I smiled to him as well even if I’m still unsure about how I should take his comment.
“Hello, I’m Kim Eunjung. It’s nice to meet you all. Our home, is your home.” I bowed once more to them and the three sighed, causing me to shoot up really quick. Yoonsan let out what seemed to be an annoyed sigh and I heard him mutter “where are Timo and Junhyuk hyung?”
“San, how did you get so lucky?” Sungwoon oppa exclaimed.
“This arranged marriage turned out good for you.” Kidmon oppa nodded his head.
“I want an arranged marriage if it means I get someone as pretty and nice as Eunjung.” Hojeong oppa sighed. Um…okay?
“Kids, don’t scare Eunjungie and San.” I looked behind the three and saw a maid holding the door open for Junhyuk oppa and Moonkyu oppa. Junhyuk oppa was holding what looked to be a gift bag.
“Oppas!” I happily greeted. Junhyuk oppa came and gave me a hug before giving Yoonsan a hug.
“Timo and I lost at rock, paper, scissors so we’re the ones in charge of bringing a housewarming gift. We hope you two like it.” Junhyuk oppa handed us the gift bag. Both Yoonsan and I tried pushing the gift back, assuring him that they didn’t need to get us anything.
“Yah! As your hyung and oppa, you have to accept this gift. I am not taking no as an answer.” I looked to Yoonsan who just shrugged his shoulders.
“Okay hyung.” I held the bag while Yoonsan took out the decorative tissue paper. I let out a squeal at what was inside.
“Mickey Mouse!” I cheered happily when Yoonsan took out the Mickey Mouse head shaped pillow. I looked and saw another one inside but this one had a red bow to represent Minnie Mouse.
Both pillows were black and on the Minnie Mouse pillow, there was a red with white polka-dots bow between the ears. I was so happy about seeing the pillows that I didn’t notice the writing in the center of the two pillows.
“Uh, Eunjung, look.” I looked at what Yoonsan was pointing at and felt my eyes widen. On the Mickey Mouse pillow, in white lettering, it spelled out ‘His’ but in the Disney font. I looked at the Minnie Mouse pillow and saw ‘Hers’ written out in the same style. We looked at each other in disbelief before looking up at the grinning Junhyuk oppa.
“Don’t you love them? Timo and I saw them and I thought ‘they have to have these’ and I remembered how much you love Disney, Eunjungie so I knew they were perfect.
Timo tried telling me to not buy them since you two were staying in two different rooms at the moment but San, you can keep the Minnie pillow in your room and Eunjung, you can keep the Mickey pillow in your room. And when the two of you share a room, just keep your pillow on your side of the bed. They’re perfect!” Junhyuk oppa smiled. I looked to Yoonsan and knew that neither of us had the heart to give the gift back or disagree with Junhyuk oppa saying ‘they were perfect’.
“Uh, thank you, hyungs. They’re…great.” I nodded my head, smiling. A maid walked by and took the gift bag and decorative tissue paper from us, leaving us with the pillows and would you look at that, we were holding our respective pillow.
“Anyways, where’s Sooyoung noona? It’s been a while since I saw her.” That got the attention of Kidmon oppa, Hojeong oppa, and Sungwoon oppa.
“Sooyoung noona is here?” And with that, the three took off running towards the kitchen and you could hear them yell out ‘Noona!’ when they saw her.
The four of us followed but at a much slower pace.
“How has everything been for you two?” Junhyuk asked.
“Everything’s been good so far.” Yoonsan answered, me nodding my head in agreement. Junhyuk oppa grinned, patting the both of us on the head.
“That’s good to hear. Continue to take care of each other, okay?” Junhyuk oppa then pulled Moonkyu oppa—who’s yet to say something since he got here—and they went into the kitchen.
“I like your friends so far, they’re fun.” I told Yoonsan right before we entered the kitchen.
“Really? Give them some time, they’ll start getting annoying.” I laughed, shaking my head. The only time I’ve hung around other people within a group, was when Edward would invite me places with his friends—it was rare for me to go because my parents wouldn’t let me out a lot of the time—or school group projects. Other than that, if I’m with a group of people, they’re six and under and then the workers of the daycare.
When Yoonsan and I got into the kitchen, we saw Hojeong oppa, Kidmon oppa, Sungwoon oppa, and Junhyuk oppa crowding around Sooyoung eonni who was trying to finish cooking. Each one was vying for her attention and it reminded me of kids trying to get their mom’s attention. Moonkyu oppa sat at the counter with his phone. It looked like he was recording the scene.
“Taehyun, I swear on this kitchen, if you don’t stop tugging on my shirt, I’m going to beat you.” Sooyoung eonni didn’t even look up from the vegetables she was chopping. Kidmon oppa continued to tug on her shirt but let out a yelp of pain, pulling his hand back. Sooyoung eonni looked like as if she hadn’t moved but the sound from the slap was evidence enough that she had smacked his hand.
“Keep it up, the rest of you, and I will show no mercy.” Sooyoung eonni finally looked up from the vegetables to give the four boys a warning glare. They all scrambled away from her, crashing into one another and other things in the process. It looked like something from a sitcom and I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Snacks are on the table. Go stuff your face with that and leave me alone so I can cook dinner.” Sooyoung eonni shooed the guys out of the kitchen, shooting me a wink when she looked at me. I giggled, feeling like me and her were sharing a joke that only the two of us knew.
“Oppas, come and eat something. I’m sure you’re all hungry.” I gestured for them to follow me and as I began to walk away, I felt an arm go around my shoulders, causing me to stiffen and before I could look over at who it was, I felt another arm go around my shoulders.
“Eunjung, how has our San been treating you so far?” Kidmon oppa was on my right.
“Is he treating you good?” Sungwoon oppa on my left. I relaxed when I saw it was them.
“If he ever does anything bad, you tell us. It’s our job as his hyungs to make sure he behaves and acts proper, especially with a nice, pretty girl.” I smiled awkwardly, unsure of how to respond.
“Uh…thank you, Sungwoon oppa, Kidmon oppa. I appreciate your kind gesture.” Kidmon oppa ruffled my hair before him and Sungwoon oppa hurried to the food that was laid out a bit earlier to hold them over until dinner was done.
“Eunjungie, where’s Edward? Is he coming by later?” I jumped a little, glaring at Junhyuk oppa who grinned at me.
“What? Did I scare you? Aigoo, still easy to scare, are you?” Junhyuk oppa laughed, wrapping an arm around me and pulling me close to him.
“So where’s Edward? I was looking forward to seeing him. It was funny watching him and Timo.” Junhyuk oppa chuckled.
“He won’t be able to come, oppa. He was asked last minute to help the day care plan their winter fair. But he says hi.” Junhyuk pouted a little.
“Aw, and I was hopping he’d be here. The others don’t believe me about what happened between him and Timo.” I giggled, shaking my head.
“Well even if he had come, he promised to not start anything with Moonkyu oppa.” I hugged the pillow close to me.
“Do you really like the pillows?” Junhyuk oppa asked me. I smiled, nodding my head. I mean, aside from the awkward ‘his’ ‘hers’, the pillows were cute and I have a weak spot for anything Disney.
“Yes oppa. They’re adorable, I really love them.” I assured him. Junhyuk oppa smiled.
“Good, I’m glad. Timo wanted to get you guys a towel set but they were too bland. I knew how much you’d love these. Aren’t I your favorite oppa?” I laughed.
“Sure, Junhyuk oppa, you’re my favorite.”
Dinner went by smoothly when it was served. The boys shared stories (mainly embarrassing ones from Yoonsan) and I had laughed so much and so hard, that I could feel abs forming. Sooyoung eonni was even forced to come and sit with us. Kimon oppa had dragged her from the kitchen and sat her down at the table. She even shared some stories of Yoonsan. I was surprised to know that Sooyoung eonni and Yoonsan practically grew up together. It was nice seeing everyone laughing and sharing stories.
“Timo hyung, I bet there’s some embarrassing stuff about Eunjung. You’re her brother, now’s the time to share.” Sungwoon oppa laughed. I glanced over at Moonkyu oppa who had talked more than I think I’ve ever seen before. He laughed too at the memories and I couldn’t help but smile at seeing him like this, happy that oppa was able to smile and be free with his friends.
Author’s Point of View
Moonkyu had been talking to Junhyuk when Sungwoon made his comment about Eunjung’s embarrassing stories. He stopped mid-sentence.
“Yeah hyung, I’m sure Eunjungie has an embarrassing past that she wouldn’t want us to know.” Over the course of dinner, Taehyun had taken to calling Eunjung by Junhyuk’s nickname for her.
Yoonsan looked up from his food, curious to what Moonkyu might say. From what he’s picked up on from the disastrous dinner, Moonkyu wasn’t close with Eunjung. How long it’s been like that, he wasn’t sure.
Moonkyu was silent for a while, debating on what to do. On one hand, he could be the one to ruin the mood by denying to have anything embarrassing or funny from when Eunjung was younger. And on the other hand, he could swallow his pride and tell them something about Eunjung. Moonkyu was about to go with the first option when he noticed Eunjung looking at him, eyes curious. Of course she wouldn’t remember much, and he knows that Eunjung is aware of that. He found himself cursing in his mind before opening his mouth.
“When she was little, and saw Toy Story for the first time, she was scared that her toys would come alive while she slept so she put them in her closet every night before she fell asleep.” Moonkyu took a sip of his soda.
“Really? I did that?” Moonkyu simply nodded his head at Eunjung’s question.
“It got worse when Timo told you that putting them in your closet upset them. That the dolls got especially angry. You made the maids throw out your porcelain doll collection. You only kept the stuffed animals and Disney related toys.” Junhyuk added on, nudging Moonkyu with his arm.
“Awww, that’s so cute.” Sooyoung cooed.
“Hyungs, that’s not embarrassing, that’s cute.” Sungwoon pouted.
“Yeah hyungs. We want something that’s as embarrassing as San’s aegyo.” Yoonsan glared at Taehyun.
“Yah! Like your throat noise is any better.”
“That’s not embarrassing, that’s just weird.” Hojeong stated
Junhyuk laughed before speaking. “Whatever Eunjungie does, isn’t embarrassing. It’s just cute.”
“If you want embarrassing, Hye-“ Moonkyu stopped himself. Junhyuk shot him a questioning look. Was he about to say the name that he thought he was going to say?
“What, hyung?” Taehyun turned his attention to Moonkyu.
“Uh…nothing. I was just going to say, if you want embarrassing, you should hear about Yoonsan and when we dared him to ask out a girl we saw at the mall once.” Yoonsan groaned.
“Oh yeah! I remember that!” Sungwoon laughed.
“Why are these stories all about me?” Yoonsan whined, surprising Eunjung with how cute he looked and sounded. Very different from the awkward business man she’s known. How many sides were there to him, she wondered.
