Chapter 60
Rain On MeAuthor’s Point of View
Colette walked up to the front desk and asked the nurse for Yoonsan’s room number. When she was asked if she was family, she claimed to be his wife, making sure that her left hand was visible, showing off the extravagant wedding ring on her ring finger. The nurse gave her the room number and Colette was soon in an elevator, heading to the desired floor. She would smile at a passing person and tried to remain calm when she was in front of Yoonsan’s room. She took a deep breath before walking in and let out a little sigh at the sight of the body lying lifeless on the bed, being kept alive by machines.
“It didn’t have to be this way, San. It really didn’t and just know that I am truly sorry for hitting you with my car but I worked too damn hard for this to all go to . Some people have to give in this world while others take. Sadly, your giving while I’m taking. Kind of like trick or treating.” Colette pulled a syringe out from her purse and walked to the IV. She grabbed the IV line and put the syringe to it. Just as she was about to push the top of the syringe, a hand reached out and grabbed her wrist, stopping her.
“You know, here in America, we only trick or treat on Halloween.” Colette let out a shriek when Rani reached up and pulled the mask off her face, grinning up at her.
“Hiya Colette, long time no see. Remember me?” Rani sat up, revealing that she wasn’t even hooked to anything.
“B-but, how?!” Colette exclaimed.
Rani laughed, shaking her head. “Easy, you’re stupid.” Rani rolled her eyes like it was obvious.
“Bridgette Andrews, you’re under arrest for-!” Rani cursed as Bridgette reached out and scratched her face. Rani let go out of surprise and Bridgette took that opportunity to run.
“Oh no you ing don’t!” Rani growled out, jumping out of the hospital bed and chasing after her. She pushed whoever was in her way, out, not caring who it was. Rani lost Bridgette once but she sure as hell wasn’t losing her again.
Bridgette had gotten her phone out as she ran and called Keith, letting him know what was going on and to have the car ready to leave by the time she got there. She had turned the corner but was quickly tackled to the floor by Rani, smashing her fast against the floor and getting a bloody nose.
“Not fun when you’re the one hitting your face, is it?” Rani smirked as she pulled Bridgette’s arms behind her back. Bridgette was screaming so Keith could hear on the phone to drive away. Rani had enough of her screaming and swiftly punched her in the face, silencing Bridgette.
“Don’t you ever shut up? Bridgette Andrews, you have the right to remain silent, which I recommend you do. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford one, one will be provided for you.” Rani slipped the handcuffs onto Bridgette before hoisting her up. She reached down and pulled off Eunjung’s wedding from her finger. “I’ll take that.” She sang.
“Hope you have enough characters for the ladies at prison. They’ll love to make you their .” Rani smirked before shoving Bridgette away to another agent who took her away. She got her radio out and turned it on, tuning it so it reached Angie.
“Angie, get ready to go after a car. You know the liscense plate, right?” Rani waited for a reply, hearing static before Angie’s voice came through.
“I just saw it leave the hospital parking lot, I’m following it now with some police cruisers. It might get messy though.” Rani smirked a proud smirk, knowing Angie would be able to handle it. Didn’t mean she was going to tell Junhyuk about it though, poor boy was worried enough.
Dylan and Trent got to the hospital just as they saw Keith peel out of the driveway. Dylan let out a curse before following after the car. He noticed more cars going after it as well and he probably should’ve stopped but it became personal after Keith shot at Trent.
“Dyl, what are you doing? I think actual cops are following them now.” Trent wondered, looking back to see that cop cars were trailing after them, with the sirens on and everything. He also saw a car that looked something like a suburban mom would drive and it made him wonder how they were part of the chase.
“It’s personal, Trent. It’s personal.” Was all Dylan said before pressing on the gas, getting closer to Keith’s car.
The chase lead them all out of Washington D.C. and onto the open road. Eunjung would scream during every sharp turn, every bump, every car she heard slam on the brakes. She was scared for her life, so scared she didn’t feel pain when she was slammed into the side of the trunk her hit her head. She could hear someone demanding for Keith to pull over and she guessed it was the cops but she knew that he wouldn’t.
Angie expertly dodged other cars, keeping an eagle eye on Keith’s car with no concern for those around her. She was on a mission and she’ll be damned if she lost him. She took notice of a truck though when it past her and slammed into the side of Keith’s car.
“Who the hell is that?!” She exclaimed as she watched the two cars bump against each other. Angie gasped when she saw Keith’s arm stick out from the car with a gun and watched it fire at the truck. The truck got one last bump to Keith’s car before swerving off the road, Keith’s car swerving off the road as well but in the opposite direction of the truck. Angie had to put the truck in the back of her mind as she quickly swerved off the road, following Keith’s car who seemed like he was struggling to gain control but he soon did.
“How long is he going to keep going?!” Angie shouted in frustration. One of the officers who had been chasing after Keith as well informed Angie through radio that they had a helicopter on their way to help them. Angie was curious to how that would help but was excited to see first hand. Her questions were answered though when the helicopter showed up. Angie slammed on her brakes as she watched the helicopter turn and get into a postion so whoever was inside had a clear shot of Keith’s car.
“Holy crap! It’s a sniper rifle!” Angie watched as the officer in the helicopter shot at Keith’s still moving car, aiming for the engine. Angie noticed the other cars had stopped as well and were waiting until Keith stopped which he finally did. The helicopter hovered for a while before flying away. Angie and the other officers got out of their cars, guns up.
“Come out slowly with your hands up!” Angie ordered, in front of everyone as the officers slowly surrounded the car incase Keith tried to escape.
Keith got out of the car, arms up with his back to Angie. Angie gestured for an officer to grab Keith which they did, putting his arms behind his back as they read him his Miranda rights and handcuffed him. Angie walked to the car to look for Eunjung but became confused when she didn’t see her.
“What the hell?” Angie muttered until she heard banging coming from the trunk.
“Something’s in the trunk!” An officer yelled. Angie removed her gun again from it’s holster and had it pointed as she opened the trunk with caution. She put her gun away though when she saw frightened Eunjung cowering in the trunk.
“Ohmygod, Eunjung.” Angie breathed out, feeling relief flood her body just as Eunjung sprung up and wrapped her arms around Angie in a tight hug. Angie hugged her back just as Eunjung began to sob.
“You’re okay now, sweetie. You’re okay now.” Angie reassured. Another officer came and helped Eunjung out of the trunk, Eunjung still clinging to Angie.
“Eunjung, this nice officer is going to look you over for any injuries, okay. I have somethings I need to take care of and then you and I will go to the hospital.” Eunjung was hesitant about letting go of Angie but finally went willingly with the other cop.
Angie went straight to the patrol car that Keith was put in. The officer who had placed him inside noticed Angie coming and moved to the side when he saw the look in Angie’s eyes. Angie smiled a sweet smile when she saw Keith. Keith scoffed when he saw her.
“What do you want, midget?” Angie laughed a cold icy laugh before she reached into the car, squeezing his face with one hand and moving it side to side albeit harshly.
“Aren’t you just a cheeky little son of a gun!” Angie cooed, but an icy bite to her tone. “Don’t worry sweetpea, the inmates will take good care of you.” Angie shoved Keith’s head away, causing him to fall to his side in the car.
“Get him out of here.” Angie ordered before walking away. The officer slammed the door shut before getting in the car and driving away. Angie left the scene and walked a bit down the road till she found the truck. It looked like it had rolled over, considering how beat up it looked. Angie got her radio from her waist and spoke into it, reaching one of the officers who were near by.
“I’m going to need some officers out here” she gave her coordinates and described the state the truck was in, moving closer to the truck to see who was inside. She could hear a man with an accent calling out to someone and she got her flashlight out. Angie aimed it into the truck and saw a man in the driver’s seat, moving around while the man in the passenger’s seat wasn’t moving.
“Trent, wake up Trent.” Angie got her radio out again.
“Two passengers in the truck, one unconscious, injuries to both. Two ambulances will be needed.” She informed, putting her radio away after getting confirmation that officers and ambulance were on their way.
“Hey, I’m Agent Angie. I’m going to help you but you need to stay calm.” Angie gently spoke, handle on the door and ready to pull it open.
“You need to help my brother, please. He’s only 18.” The man in the driver’s seat sobbed, ignoring the blood coming from his head.
“I’ll help your brother but you need to stay calm, okay.” Angie looked up as she heard some police sirens along with ambulance sirens. “Look, help is here. We’re going to take care of you both, okay.” Angie yanked on the door handle, having trouble getting it open but when the door did open, it fell off the truck and landed on Angie’s left foot. She cried out but moved out of the way when the ambulances and police cruisers showed up. They got the two men out, the passenger had more urgency around him while the driver called for his brother. When the men were brought into their respective ambulance, Angie hobbled back to where everyone else was just as Eunjung was finished getting checked by and EMT that was called on scene.
“Eunjung, ready to go to the hospital?” Angie asked, helping Eunjung stand.
“Why the hospital?” Angie bit her lip, unsure if she should tell Eunjung about Yoonsan.
“I think it’d be better if I tell you once we get there.” Angie lead Eunjung to her car and helped her in before she got behind the wheel. The drive to the hospital consisted of Eunjung explaining to Angie what happened to her while she was gone. She told her about the brothers who were hired to kidnap her but ended up trying to help her escape.
“Angie, is there anything you or Rani could do to keep them from going to jail? They were only doing it because they were paid but they risked their lives to try and help me.” Angie let out a sigh.
“I’ll see what we can do, okay. It might be difficult though but we’ll try.” Angie promised. They got to the hospital and Angie helped Eunjung out of the car and the two walked into the hospital. Angie took her to the floor that Yoonsan’s room was on, Eunjung still not knowing what had happened to her husband. When they got to the waiting room closest to Yoonsan’s room, Angie allowed Eunjung to walk ahead.
“Eunjungie!” Eunjung found herself enveloped into a giant hug by Moonkyu who was joined by Junhyuk, Taehyun, Sungwoon, Hojeong, and Edward.
“We’re so happy you’re safe. We were so worried.” Junhyuk cried, Eunjung crying as well. Angie stood off to the side and watched the scene before noticing someone else sitting in the waiting room who she recognized as the driver from the truck. He was watching the scene as well with a look that was a mix of sadness, happiness, and relief.
“I was so scared I’d never see you all again.” Eunjung sobbed. The group hugged for a while before Eunjung pulled away. She looked amongst their faces and also in the waiting room.
“Where’s Yoonsan?” The six guys got a sad look, Edward looking at Angie. She mouthed to him that he hadn’t told her and Edward sighed.
“Eunjung, sit down.” Edward took Eunjung’s hand and sat her down, sitting next to her.
“Eddie, where’s my husband?” Eunjung asked. Edward took a deep breath, still holding Eunjung’s hand.
“Eunjung, Yoonsan, he’s…he’s in a coma.” Eunjung let out a choked gasp, remembering what Colette had been screeching about yesterday.
“He went to talk to Colette and something happened and the doctors don’t know when or if he’ll wake up.” Edward pulled Eunjung into a tight hug when she began to cry. After some time, she asked to go and see him and the group took her to Yoonsan’s room. Angie stayed behind so she could talk to the other man.
“Hey, I’m guessing your Dylan.” Dylan looked up at Angie who approached him and nodded his head. Angie smiled a small smile before sitting next to him, wincing when she had moved her foot wrong.
“I couldn’t recognize you earlier because of the blood. How’s your brother?”
“He’s in surgery right now.” Dylan quietly said. Angie nodded her head before speaking.
“Eunjung told me what you two did and I want to thank you. She’s a good friend of mine and I know everyone is thankful.” Dylan averted his eyes at her praise.
“It’s nothing. I can see that she has a lot of loved ones. I’m sorry about her husband. I hope he wakes up.” Dylan awkwardly said. He noticed Angie wince again. “What happened to your foot?” Angie shrugged it off.
“Your truck door fell on it but it’s fine, I’ll be fine. This isn’t the first time I’ve injured this foot. Anyways, I want to assure you though that my partner and I, we’re going to work on keeping you and your brother out of jail but, can I ask why did it? Why did you accept the money from Keith?” Angie asked with a gentle tone. Dylan was quiet and seemed like he wouldn’t speak up.
“Please, Dylan. This could help you and your brother.” Angie pleaded.
“Our parents died when Trent was a freshman in high school. I had already graduated so I got guardianship over him and we moved to Maryland to be closer to some family from his dad’s side. They stopped wanting anything to do with us though when I beat up his uncle because he would talk down to Trent. He’s a real sweet kid and just wants to go to college and the money they were going to pay us would help him get through college. I just wanted the best for Trent and I tried to keep him out of this but that bloody idiot is so stubborn and follows me around everywhere. You don’t have to try to keep me out of jail but please do whatever you can for Trent.” Dylan begged. Angie sighed before patting Dylan’s knee.
“We’ll try our best, Dylan.” Angie said just as a doctor came with bloody scrubs.
“Here for Nicolas?” Dylan stood up instantly. “How is he?” Dylan asked, the doctor gave him a tired smile.
“Your brother is doing fine. He’s asleep right now because of the anesthesia but he’ll be fine. If you like, I can take you to his room.” Dylan nodded his head before following the doctor. He called back to Angie as he hurried away.
“Please do what you can for my brother and tell Eunjung that we hope her husband is okay! Also, you should probably get your foot checked.” Angie nodded her head, assuring Dylan she would before walking to Yoonsan’s room. When she got to his room, she saw Rani and Edward outside, looking in. Angie looked into the room and saw Eunjung sitting at Yoonsan’s bedside, everyone else behind Eunjung.
“Let’s hope the wakes up because Eunjung won’t be able to handle it if he doesn’t. And don’t think I didn’t notice you limping.” Rani sighed as she looked at Eunjung sob over her husband.
