I was allowed a few days to relax before my mother and Mrs. Yoon got serious about the planning. I wanted to spend those days with Yoonsan, the both of us relaxing as much as we could before the stressful planning started but he was out with Colette if he wasn’t working. I’m still not sure how I feel about that or her. I was beginning to worry about that it was because of something I did, that caused him to act distant. When he was home, he would close himself off from me and I wondered if it had to do with the note from Kangjun that I had found in my blazer pocket after Yoonsan and I got home from my graduation dinner.

I had taken my blazer off first, tossing it onto my bed when a folded paper fell out, landing on the floor. I had seen it when I bent down to take my heels off.

“Oh, what’s this?” I had picked up the paper, unfolding it.

“Eunjung,

I’m a coward for going about it this way, but it’s the only way I really know how now. I like you, a lot. I’ve liked you since the beginning of the school year but never knew how to approach you. I had been so intimidated by you and how smart you were and who your family was, I just didn’t want to look or say anything stupid. But, when I finally talked to you, I saw that you weren’t at all what I thought. You were funny, kind, and of course, smart. You are so much more, but I don’t have enough paper to tell you it all. Every morning, I would wake up, promising myself that I would confess to you that day but in the end, I would chicken out. When I finally got the guts to tell you how I felt, I found out you had a boyfriend already. I’m not surprised though, you’re perfect and any guy would be lucky to have you. I just wish I had been that guy. But, enough of that. I’m not staying in South Korea for university. I got into Harvard, I’ll be going to the States. I don’t know when or if I’ll ever see you again but I just wanted to tell you, how I felt. To get it off my chest. I hope this doesn’t ruin your relationship with your boyfriend, he seems like an okay guy. I hope you have a great life and achieve your dreams, whatever they may be.

I had been so confused about the letter and when I texted Edward, he called just to say “I knew it!” Yoonsan had found the letter by mistake and since then, he’s hardly spoken to me. I had been tempted to talk to Sooyoung eonni about it but knowing her, she’d go directly to Yoonsan and force him to tell her why he’s acting like that and I really don’t want that to happen incase he gets even more upset. So now, I only have today left to relax and my only ally in this whole mess isn’t talking to me. Why did my life have to be so difficult?

I was in the garden, watching a movie on my laptop when Edward had called me. I jumped, the loud ringtone scaring me before pausing the movie and answering the phone.

“Eunjung, you need to get a hold of your man. Now!” I sighed, closing the laptop.

“Hi Edward. It’s good to hear from you. My day has been going good, how’s yours?” I sarcastically said, setting my laptop next to me on the tree swing.

“Eunjung, this not the time for sarcasm! I just saw Yoonsan at the store, laughing with a girl that isn’t you, or Sooyoung, or Nayoung. What the is he doing?”

“Eddie, he has no obligation to me. We’re only together because of our parents. If he wants to hang out with other girls, it’s fine.”

“Oh, so he can hang out with other girls and your fine with it but when you get a confession letter from a guy who’s not even in South Korea anymore, he can get upset and not talk to you? What the ?”

“It’s fine, Edward.”

“Nope, not going to have it. I’m going over and we’re going to go out and have fun. Show him that you don’t need him.”

“I really don’t need him though.”

“Shut up. I’ll be there in half an hour.” Before I could even protest, Edward hung up. I let out a groan, dropping my head back. I just wanted to stay home and act like a bum.

“Might as well go and shower.” I heaved out a heavy sigh, grabbing my laptop and getting up from the tree swing.

By the time I was showered and ready, Edward had showed up with a few unexpected guests.

“What are you guys doing here? Not that you’re not welcomed, it’s just unexpected.” I looked to Edward for answers who only shrugged his shoulders.

“Don’t look at me. I ran into them at the door. You ready?” I nodded my head.

“We wanted to hang out with San but he’s not answering his phone or replying to his texts.” Sungwoon oppa said.

“Yeah, so we thought we’d come and see him.” Hojeong oppa smiled.

“And if he’s asleep, wake him up.” Kidmon oppa smirked.

I smiled an apologetic smile. “I’m sorry oppas, but Yoonsan isn’t home.” Their jaws dropped in unison and I couldn’t help but giggle.

“He has a day off and he’s not home?” Kidmon oppa exclaimed.

“Is out getting food?” Hojeong oppa wondered.

I shook my head. “He’s out with a friend.” Sungwoon oppa scoffed.

“What friends does he have that isn’t us?” He snickered.

Edward looked up from his phone. “Friend my . That girl likes him. I’m telling you, Eunjung, you need to get a better hold on your man.”

“Are we going to go or not?” I really didn’t want to hear Edward call Yoonsan “my man” again.

“What about them?” My poor oppas, looked so confused by our conversation.

“Ah, right. What if they come with us? The more the merrier?” Edward shrugged his shoulders.

“Sure, why not.” I smiled.

“Oppas, do you want to hang out with Edward and I?” The three smiled, nodding their heads.

“You’ll probably be more fun than San, anyways!” Sungwoon oppa laughed.

We left the house, Kidmon oppa said that they all came in his car. There was a little fight for who got to sit shotgun between Sungwoon oppa and Hojeong oppa. Edward and I got into the back as soon as Kidmon oppa unlocked his car. He got into the driver’s seat, starting the car. It seemed like Sungwoon oppa and Hojeong oppa fought over the seat all the time since Kidmon was simply scrolling through his phone’s music library.

“Do you guys have anything you want to hear?” Kidmon oppa asked us.

“No, we’re good. Whatever you want to play is fine.” Edward answered for us. Just as Kidmon oppa selected a song, Hojeong oppa got into the front seat, looking pleased with himself while Sungwoon oppa got into the back, next to me.

“You cheated.” Sungwoon oppa pouted.

“You can’t cheat at rock, paper, scissors, hyung.” Hojeong oppa sang, putting on his seatbelt.

“They remind me of you and me.” Edward muttered, loud enough so only I could hear. I laughed, agreeing with him. Which one I was, I wasn’t sure, but Hojeong oppa’s and Sungwoon oppa’s interaction just now was similar to Edward and I.

“So, where to?” Kidmon oppa asked once everyone was buckled in.

We decided to go to an area with a bunch of different stores. Kidmon oppa had found a parking space and we got out the car, making sure that where oppa could park was legal and he wouldn’t be towed.

“Ahhhh, it’s such a nice day.” Kidmon oppa stretched his arms up to the sky before wrapping an arm around my shoulders, pulling me close to him which caused Edward to stumble since I had linked my arm with his.

“Eunjungie, you and Edward hyung lead the way since you two originally planned to hang out together.” I looked to Edward to see where we should go and he merely shrugged.

“Let’s just start walking and see what’s here.” I decided to say, looking at Kidmon oppa, Sungwoon oppa, and Hojeong oppa who agreed.

The five of us started walking in the direction of where all the shops were. Kidmon oppa still had an arm around my shoulders while my arm was linked still with Edward’s. Hojeong oppa had put an arm around Sungwoon oppa’s shoulders, poking fun at how he was taller even though he was younger. Sungwoon oppa glared at him but didn’t make a move to remove Hojeong oppa’s arm from his shoulders. While we walked, Edward would occasionally take a group selca or video of us walking or the area around us. We walked into the first shop we saw and looked around. That’s all we did for the rest of the shops and would occasionally buy something. It was a lot of fun and I found myself relaxing more than I probably would’ve if I had stayed home.

“You know Eunjungie, I’m sure you don’t remember this, but you used to call me Hyunnie oppa.” Kidmon oppa said randomly as the two of us stood side by side looking at some face masks. The five of us had entered a makeup store, mainly because Edward and I dragged them into it.

“Really? I’ve met you before?” I was confused. Kidmon oppa smiled, nodding his head.

“Mhm. You’ve met the three of us before. We didn’t know you as long as Junhyuk hyung and you only met San once but it had been a quick meeting. I doubt you’d remember him like you did Junhyuk hyung but you should remember the rest of us.” Kidmon oppa looked at me, a bit hopeful.

I tried racking my brain for any memory of them but found it difficult to do so. I sent him an apologetic look but Kidmon oppa smiled, ruffling my hair.

“It’s okay. I kind of figured. Sungwoon and Hojeong wanted me to mention something to see if you would. We’re just happy to see you had grown so well. If we hadn’t known that you were engaged to San, we’d probably would’ve thought it was a different Eunjung.” Kidmon oppa than walked away to join Sungwoon oppa and Hojeong oppa who were…you know, I wasn’t entirely sure what they were doing.

“Don’t look, but you won’t believe who’s here.” I began looking around, only to be smacked on the arm by Edward.

“I said don’t look!” He hissed.

“Well how am I supposed to know who’s here?!”

Author’s point of view

Yoonsan had been pulled into a makeup store by Colette who excitedly said that a model she works with highly recommended things from this store. Yoonsan had merely laughed, knowing that fighting against Colette wouldn’t get him anywhere.

“All these stores have been amazing! I’m glad you agreed to hanging out with me on my day off. I’ve really missed you.” Colette said to Yoonsan as she looked through different products. Yoonsan smiled, ignoring how his heart seemed to speed up a little with her words.

“I’m just glad you’re here.” Yoonsan admitted.

Colette grinned at him before turning her attention back to what she had been previously looking at.

“So…how’s the wedding planning going?” Yoonsan let out a sigh, feeling a small pang of guilt.

“It won’t start till tomorrow. My mom managed to talk Eunjung’s mom into letting Eunjung rest for a while before the planning started.”

“Oh? I thought your mom was all for the wedding and would have been planning everything now.” Colette giggled.

“Before, she would but, she’s gotten a soft spot for Eunjung, I guess. I don’t know.” Yoonsan shrugged.

It was silent for a while amongst them, Colette looking at different makeup products while Yoonsan just looked at Colette. They had been real good friends when Yoonsan was in France and Yoonsan had actually gotten feelings for her and was going to confess when his parents demanded for him to come back to South Korea. He wondered now if those feelings were still present.

“San, do you feel anything for Eunjung?” Yoonsan had been thrown off by her question. Where did it even come from? He didn’t even know the answer to it.

“Uh, I-“ Before Yoonsan could finish his question, a shout of panic came from the other side of the store.

“Eunjung!”
