She was in my arms for a moment before she suddenly jerked away from me, “Stop saying all those things… Don’t come near me…” She kept shaking her head.

“Jung ah, I…” I inched nearer to her again.

“I said stop!” She finally shouted and with that, she turned and ran back into her room as she slammed the door loudly.

Defeated at her reaction towards me, I figured I should leave her alone for the time being.

Walking out towards the living room, I saw Jongin playing leggo by himself.

Chapter 33 - Chance

(Taemin POV)

“Hey! When are you back kiddo?” I asked as I ruffled his hair.

“I was here since umma started shouting at you, ahjummah told me to stay here so I obeyed, did you make her cry?” Jongin narrowed his eyes at me.

“Yes I think so… I am a bad guy, I made her cry…” I told him honestly.

“It’s okay, it’s not the first time umma cries. Sometimes, she was like that too, when we were in USA, then Kai appa will comfort her and then everything became alright again, so Taemin hyung, go and comfort umma…” Jongin nagged at me just like how Jung used to in the past.

“Will she listen to me?” I asked.

He frowned at me, “Do you need my help?” He asked.

I chuckled at his question, “What help can you offer you little kiddo?”

“I can go and say some nice things about you to umma, that is what I always did when umma was angry at Kai appa…” Jongin said.

Hearing Jongin kept calling Kai appa, I was a bit curious, “Do you always call Kai appa?” I asked.

“Yes, ever since I know how to talk, I have been calling him that. Kai appa is like my appa, always playing with me and taking care of umma and I.” Jongin praised Kai proudly.

A sour feeling crept up my heart as I went on to ask, “Do you know who your real appa is?”

Jongin shook his head, “Ani… Whenever I asked umma, she will only say she loves appa a lot but she has to leave him and she will keep apologizing.”

“Did she tell you why she has to leave your appa?” I pressed on.

“Taemin hyung, why do you have so many questions? Go and ask umma yourself, I want to play leggo…” Jongin said, annoyed and his annoyed face resembles Jung a lot and I can’t help but to smile at the sight.

“Okay, why not you tell me, then I will play with you?” I tried tempting him.

But he shook his head.

“Okay fine, then what do you want? Tell me and I will give you!” I said.

A smile appeared on his face as he beamed excitedly, “I want ice cream!” He clapped happily.

“Okay deal! I will get you one but after you answer me!” I said.

Having no choice, he continued, “When I asked her why, she will say sorry and told me not to blame her or blame appa, but as I grew older, I got more curious about my appa and I started asking her more often then umma will cry and sometimes get angry at me…” He pouted at the thought.

“Do you know why?” I asked again.

Frowning, he answered, “Taemin hyung! I am just a child! I don’t know a lot of things! But I know umma doesn’t like it when I talked about appa…Kai appa knew about it too so he also never mention anything about my appa in front of umma…”

After hearing all these, a weird feeling rushed through me, I took a closer look at Jongin and asked him again, “Jongin, you are 4 years old right?”

“Hmmm…” He nodded while continuing to play his leggo.

I couldn’t think properly and so I asked Jongin again, to try to get more information sorted out, “Did Kai appa ever mentioned about your appa before? Like talk to you about your appa? Have he?”

“Yes. Because umma don’t like me talking about appa so everything I will talk to Kai appa instead. He always told me not to blame umma because she has no choice but to leave appa, she didn’t want it either.”

“What else did he say?” I was determined to find out the truth.

And that was when Jongin said something that answers all my questions, “Kai appa said that my appa is a good friend of his and that is why he is helping him take care of umma.”

My eyes widened at Jongin’s words.
