Chen:

On Thursday, I will turn 16. Wow. How time flies.

Papa had woken me up to get ready. We were going somewhere, he said. I hesitantly got up and went to get my towel. It was a Monday and we were excused from school. The school was informed by papa that we'd be moving out today. But as we were able to finish moving out yesterday, we had a free day today. Papa just let us have this free day. I think everyone was tired from the work we had yesterday.

I got the room with Chanyeol on the second floor of the house. There were five rooms on this floor, and two of which had its own toilet and bath. There was a common bathroom at the end of the hall, too. The first floor bedrooms, one had its own bathroom. There was also a common bathroom. I think there were six bathrooms in this house. Hmmm... I just wish that once our house was fully reconstructed, we'd have more than six bathrooms. God knows Sehun, Tao and Baek could use one bathroom each. LOL.

Lucky for me, no one was using the bathroom so I went in and took a bath. Outside, I could hear  Luhan ge's voice. He was knockin on Suho's room. He always woke up ahead of us. Well, almost always. I think me and Chanyeol woke up earlier than most people. 

Papa was supposed to leave for Hong Kong with mama Wu tomorrow until Friday. But as my birthday will be on Thursday, he'd be spending just two days there and be back home for my party. He'd be leaving for Thailand the next week, too. I wasn't really expecting papa to be present on my birthday. Last year, I was sick. He was also out of the country. My mom had called me to greet me. My mom was in South Korea and she was not able to visit me last year. I hoped that this year, she will come see me. But I doubted it. She had told me that she had started a piano school and she was always needed there. I think she was teaching students who are in musicals or theater arts.

I was happy for my mom. I never took it against her that she was not able to see me often. Last summer vacation, I spent at least two weeks with her, though. It was hard. This kind of set up was hard, but it was for the best. I couldn't ask her to live in China, because it would be awkward. Eomma still had a crush on papa, I just knew it. LOL. But I'm not going to push her to papa. It would be a major catastrophe. Now that I think about it, Kai's mom may still have feelings for papa. Hmmm... Don't you think so? The way she called papa Zun-ah... instead of Ah-Zun... Ahahahaha. Okay. I gotta stop talking about it. Just trolling you. :P

I went downstairs to the ground floor. Mama Wu was at the dining room having her morning coffee and her laptop in front of her. She had classes every Saturday to complete her medical licensure. Last Saturday, she asked for a leave of absence. Tao and Baek were also excused from their martial arts classes. Kyungie was already eating his breakfast. He looked at me with his owly eyes and smiled a creepy smile. I acted as if I was scared and went to sit at the farthest chair from him. He threw me a murderous look. I shot him a peace sign and grinned. Mama Wu didn't notice, so I was confident. 

I checked the dining room wall clock. It was almost 8 AM. My body was aching all over, actually. I thought I might have broken some bones and strained my muscles. Tsk, tsk. I wouldn't want to be a construction worker. Their job was hard. My body will collapse if I'd be asked to work in construction. I saluted them in my mind. They had a hard job and still they endured just to make our buildings. 

Anyway, I am sounding too formal. I'm not formal, at all. Ahahahaha. Papa appeared at the foot of the stairs holding a clutch bag. I saw Tao walking behind him. Panda boy was immitating how papa walked. I fought the urge to tell on him, so I focused on the food in front of me. I pulled the bowl of mixed fruits. It was Kyungie's style. He always prepared fruits in the morning when he had time. I liked to eat fruits in the morning, too. As I munched on a sliced apple, Tao sat beside me.

Tao: Hyung, did you know?

Me: Know what?

Tao: You're gonna get your student license today.

Me: Whoa? Sure?

I raised an eyebrow at him and then glanced at papa. Tao smirked and elbowed me. I looked away from him and stared at papa who nodded.

Papa: Yes, you are.

Me: Hmmm...you gotta be kidding me.

Papa: Zhongda, do I look like I'm kidding?

Me: No. Sorry papa.

Papa: You're turning 16 on Thursday. Time for you to get your license.

Me: Woot! Nae saranghae appa.

Papa: Nado, nado... We'll go around 10 AM. I'll just drop by the office first, and I thought to let you come with me, so I don't have to come back here just to pick you up.

Me: Understood, papa.

Papa: Alright. Don't go anywhere before 10. I think if we get there early, we can claim your license right away.

Me: Yes, papa

Suho:

Yes, it was Monday. We're not expected in school today. How to finish the filming today? I decided to ask papa's permission to have all of us go to school during lunchbreak so we can film our part for the MV. i just hoped J and Namjoon would be okay with that. After Luhan showed the video, I pushed him out the door and toward papa's room. 

Our room (me, Xiumin, Lay) was on the second floor, same as our parents, Xiao Yi, Chen & Chanyeol, and Luhan & Kai. The first floor rooms were Kris, Baek, Tao's and Sehun and Kyungie's.

Luhan: What are you pushing me for?

Me: We need a distraction for Chen. We can't go filming today if we're gonna be stuck in here with him. Our best hope is for papa to take him somewhere.

Luhan: Somewhere for what?

Me: I don't know. Just come up with something.

Luhan: Like what?

Me: Like buy him a gift in advance?

Luhan: Okay?

We stopped in front of papa's room. We waited for a bit before knocking. Papa opened it and we stood there unmoving. Papa raised his eyebrows questioningly.

Luhan: Zao an, pa.

Papa: Zao an. What brings you here?

Luhan: I'll go straight to the point. Uhm. We want permission to bring the younger kids to film for the surprise MV.

Papa: Including Chen?

Luhan: No, of course not.

Papa: Alright. I'm taking him to the PSB to get his student license. If we're lucky, we'd be able to get his license today after the written exam and road test.

Luhan: Excellent!

Papa: Is that all?

Luhan: Yes, pa. Uhmm... The Mins and Kims are helping us on the MV,so we can only go during lunch break.

Papa: I'll take care of that.

Luhan: Thank you papa

Me: Thank you, papa...

Papa: Hao

And he told us to get ready for breakfast as he walked out of their room and towards the stairs. We nodded and we went to wake the others up.

At the breakfast table, the topic was Chen getting his student license. Baekhyun, who was the recent one to get his license, told Chen that the best way to pass the roadtest was to go slow, and to park properly. 

We acted as if there was nothing unusual. I sent text messages to each of my brothers and Xiao Yi. I just made it look like I was checking my facebook. When the others saw my text, they replied and acted as if we didn't plan on doing anything today. I stayed up in my room, while the others lounged by the pool at the backyard. They were getting the feel of the pool, because we would be spending at least five months in this house.

At around 10 AM, papa called Chen inside and asked him to get his stuff ready. He looked nervous, but we cheered him on. We were positive he'd be getting his student license today.

Kris went outside to wait until they were out of sight, then we all got ready to go out. We said goodbye to mama, who was now sitting at the sofa and reading a book. She told us to take care and be back safe. We had told her that we probably will have lunch out, because of the Mins and Kims' schedule.

I texted Namjoon that we'll meet them at the school cafeteria. Luhan had suggested we film the MV at a nearby park. We didn't wanna disturb the peace and quiet in school. I'm sure if people will see us filming something, we'd attract too much attention.

Anyway, we already attracted attention as we entered the school cafeteria. It wasn't lunchbreak yet, but some students were already there, having early lunch as their schedule permitted them. We ate lunch first while we waited for the Kims and Mins. When they arrived, we waited for them to have their lunch. Luhan told Namjoon we'd be filming at the park and Namjoon agreed. He didn't have his Chinese license yet, neither Jin and Yoon Gi or J, so we offered to have them ride with us. Luhan drove the Sienna and Xiumin the Odyssey. Papa already gave the permission for using the family cars.

We were followed by curious gazes as we went out the cafeteria and to the parking lot. Some of our schoolmates I heard talking in hushed voices, "Oh my god. It's like the fusion of looks and talent." I couldn't help but chuckle. "Wu...Kim...Min...Oh my God bless our school."

"Isn't that Jin? Kim Seokjin? They're friends with the Wus? Whoaaaa..."

"Kookie! Jungkook!"

"The Min brothers from South Korea, right? Their dad's an associate of Mr. Wu... I heard they own the new restaurant in downtown Fengtai."

"Where are they going?"

"I hope Kris gege notices me. I was hoping they'd come to school today."

"What? Kris will notice me."

"Noooo... Luhannnn..."

"I go for the soccer boys. Luhan and Xiumin..."

It went on, even as we got in the cars. I knew my brothers and the others heard those. Xiao Yi was looking from side to side as she eyed every girl who giggled at us. I couldn't help but grin. Little sister can be possessive. It was cute. LOL. And then we went on our way to the park.

THURSDAY: D-Day

Luhan:

"Hi everyone! Dajia hao! Annyeong! I am here in front of you because I'm supposed to give a speech or something. Uhm...ahahaha. Alright. Why can't I be serious orz. Anyway, as the unspoken oldest Wu, I was given this task. Now, it's been spoken. Hahaha. Lame joke, Luhan. Anyway, we know that we had endured some not so good issues the past few days, but there is a reason to celebrate. Our Jongdae is 16 today. And he's finally got his student driver's license! Yay! A milestone in his now 16 years. Chen, don't stop making milestones for yourself, and for us of course. Because whatever you do, we will be behind you every step of the way. That's what family is for, right? And to celebrate his 16th, we have prepared something for him. I don't know if he had an idea we were doing this, but I think he was unaware the whole time. Hahaha. Chenchen, please watch this..."

Everyone was listening to me now. Games were done, as it was the first part of the birthday party program. Tao and Kai the game masters. It was almost lunchtime and reggae music was playing in the background. As it was a pool party, most people were donned in swimsuits and slippers. The prizes were given to the winners of each game. Mama sponsored all the prizes, namely: movie tickets, gift cards, gift bags, and a polaroid camera for the best in pool outfit.

Suho acted as MC, but before we announce it was time for lunch, we prepared to show the surprise MV. He gave me the mic, as he told me that I should do the honors because I was the oldest. OTL. Chen's classmates and friends were there, the Kims and Mins, some of papa's colleagues' kids. Some of our friends were there too, as Chen invited them.

I nodded on cue at Lay, and he pressed the play button. Our MV started to play on the screen. We had set up a projector screen in front of the makeshift stage by the pool. Chen looked surprised as he saw papa and mama included in the MV. He even laughed when he saw Mr. Kim and Min jamming with the rap beat. Everyone was laughing and swaying to the Happy Birthday rap that Namjoon and J had created.

I think it was one of the best birthday surprises we have ever done. Everyone at the party sang along, even after the MV was shown, they kept chanting the chorus. Chenchen blushed and hugged us one by one. 

Chen: How did--? When did you guys...?

Suho: That's a secret.

Chen: Thank you guys...so much. OTL. Don't make me cry.

Kris: Big girls don't cry. Hahaha

Chen: Shut up, hyung.

Lay: You gotta thank Namjoon and J for this.

Chen: I know. Whoaaa... You guys.... Really...

Me: Wait! That's not all. Since I'm done with my speech, I think it's just fitting that my brothers and little sister say something for Chenchen. Right? Okay, here you go Xiumin..

Xiumin: Whoaaa... I don't know what to say. Uhm... Chen. Uhm... The food was excellent. Hahaha. Kidding. No, not kidding. Kyungie and Lay did a good job on that Japanese stuff. Anyway, back to my speech for Chen. *clears throat* You're 16 now and you know what they say, sweet 16. Wait, that's for girls. And you're a boy. Hahaha. I can't seem to be serious today, too. But like Luhan said, we're here for you, man. Always got your back. As your hyung, I'll try to be a good example for you. I think that's good enough, right? Kris...

Kris: Congratulations. Happy birthday. May your wishes come true. Okay, I'm done. Here you go, Suho.

Suho: Yahhh, Kris ge. That was lame.

Kris: I'm not lame, just so all of you know. It's just not my style to give long speeches. I don't wanna make you cry people. Especially the birthday boy. But, kidding aside, Jongdae...Jongjong... Ahahahaha... Thank you for the free concerts at home, neh? Ahahahaha. Alright. I'm good. Snow White, your turn.

Suho: Oh my God Captain Shang. Don't mind him. Anyway, orz...stop it. I can hear you, Kris ge. This is humiliating. Ugh... Why can't people take me seriously orz.

Kris: *grabs micrphone* Snow White, say your speech now. Don't ask for people's sympathy.

Suho: Excuse my sha ge (silly brother). Chen, we might be saying the same things right now, but know that whenever you need someone's help, I'm  here for you. Everyone of us, you know that. You're one step closer to adulthood, so make the most of your time being 16. Hehehe.

Lay: Zhongda, I wish you won't troll us anymore. You and Baekhyun really get on my nerves sometimes, so I kinda have backup plans to have my revenge on you two. On a more serious note, I wish you the best of health, so you won't get sick on your birthdays in the future. I also wish you reach your dreams...especially that concert that you keep imagining. Heheh

Chen: Hao... I will, ge.

Baekhyun: They have said what I wanted to say. So I just want to tell you to follow the hyungs. *grins wide* I'm your hyung, so you have to follow me.

Chen: Okay...?

Baek: I'm serious, Jongjong.

The guests were laughing now. Some of them were chanting "Jongjong" and "Baixian" and raising their hands.

Chen: Don't bully me on my party, hyung.

Baek: It's not bullying. You know that papa gave us responsibility over you, younger ones. So, I think it's just best that you follow what we say, so there will be no trouble.

Chen: You're scary, Baek. Ugh.

Baek: Ahahahahahahaha *slaps Chen's back*

Chen: Owwwww!!! That was your gift?

Baek: If you say so... Hahahaha

Chen: Thank you orz.

Chanyeol: *raps* Well special treats will come throughout the day. I heard a rumor ain't been hugged they say. If there's something in your life that you don't want to miss, it's a birthday...huggggg *hugs Chen* I can't say much, because the hyungs already said everything.

Kyungie: Me either. Can't say much. Except maybe, I wish you'll stop benig immature now, hyung. I'm serious. Really. Please give me peace of mind, even if it's just 30 minutes. *smiles creepily*

Chen: Whoaaa...don't give me that look, Kyungie-ya.

Kyungie: I'll haunt your sleep if you don't stop bugging me, hyung. I mean it.

Chen: What a birthday wish...

Kyungie: I'm not done yet. *chuckles* But even if you bug me always, you know I still love you, hyung. I love you all. I just think that since you are older now, you'd start being mature...especially if I'm within 5 meters. *laughing silently*

Chen: You want me to take you seriously, yet you are laughing at me. Deal.

Kyungie: Kamsahamnida.

Tao: I'll give you half my food stash as my birthday gift, hyung. And more adventures to come! Jiayou!

Chen: No long speech, Zitao?

Tao: I promised I won't make you cry.

Chen: Haoba.

Kai: I'm glad I don't share a room with you anymore.

Chen: Wha--why?

Kai: I have peace of mind now. Hehehe. Happy birthday hyung. You are old now. LOLOLOLOL.

Chen: Jongin...I'm not old

Sehun: You are old, hyung. You're one of the oldies now.

Chen: ......

Sehun: Nevertheless, happy birthday! I'm still taller than you. So I wish you get taller this year. *grins*

Xiao Yi: I deeply apologize for my brothers, everyone. They just can't seem to behave themselves. But that's what make them special to me. *smiles sheepishly* Chenchen oppa, happy birthday. Even though you make me cry sometimes, I still wish you a happy birthday. 

Sehun: I know how to behave.

Xiao Yi: Okay, you do.

Tao: I know, too.

Kai: And me...

Xiao Yi: No, not you two.

The maknaes were starting to have a verbal sparring on the stage, so I grabbed the mic from Xiao Yi and herded them off the stage. I gave the mic to Chen to say his thank you speech. Papa was silently clapping at the back with mama.

Chen: I don't know how to start. Actually, let me start by saying thank you all for coming to my party. I've always wanted to have a pool party eversince. Thank you papa for allowing me to have this party. Also to mama Wu for helping out with the prizes for the games. Eomma is not here with us, but I've already talked to her via video call. Thank you eomma. Even if you are not here, you still made me feel special. 

         They say that 16 years is the turning point in the Wu family. To be honest, I'm not ready to grow up yet, but I have to. Thank you to my older brothers for being there to guide me, when papa or mama is not there. Thank you for the maknaes. Even if I get t obe such a troll sometimes, you still forgive me in the end. Hehehe. Xiao Yi, being the only girl in our family always reminds me that I'm supposed to be an older brother who will protect you anytime. I love you all. I'll try my best to be a good 16 year old kid. Hehehe.

          By the way, the MV was awesome. I was amazed at how you were able to convince papa to dance and rap. Hahaha. Special thanks to Namjoon and J hyung for that. It was really, really awesome. I was not expecting it. Especially being able to convince papa....and mama Wu... to..uhm... ahahahah... rap along...and dance. Hahahaha. Sorry. LOL. I just can't help but laugh. It was funny. Papa, duibuqi. But it was hilarious. Ganxie ni, papa...mama Wu. Wo feichang ganxie. Mr. Kim and Min... Even Mrs. Kim... Kamsahamnida for appearing in the MV and for doing something like....that... Ahahahaha. Okay. Sorry. Hahaha. I'm just so happy. I don't wanna cry, so please let me laugh. *bows, but still laughing*

          Okay. I'm done. Ahahahaha. Thank you all. I think it's time for lunch? The buffet table is open for everyone to..uhm... attack. Hahahaha. Just don't eat all the cake, okay? Save some for me. I'm the one celebrating the birthday today. Okay....and three....two....one! Time to attack!

Hi! This is just part 1 of Chen's birthday party chapter. This may be a short one, because I couldn't put it all in one chapter. There are a lot of things going on at once. It's making me dizzy. LOL.
