Vodka and Dancing

Th13teen

I sat on the window ledge. Since French windows are as wide as a door, it looked like I was sitting on the floor. I raised my head to look at Jungkook. His hand was still outstretched. I took it and he helped me up. He chuckled as he was amused at my barefooted glory.

Me: What?

Him: I think you need to put your shoes back on.

Me: And suffer.

Him: Maybe you still should. Your papa is coming over...

I peeked behind him and saw papa walking towards us. I smiled sheepishly. Taeyong looked amused as well. I smoothed my dress and tugged at Jungkook's sleeve.

Me: Back me up, okay?

Him: O..okay.

And papa reached us. He stopped a few feet away. Mr. Kim and Mr. Min were looking in our direction. They looked a bit amused and nudged each other.

Papa gestured for me to come near him. He did that "come over here" thing with his forefinger and I slowly walked towards him. I pulled Jungkook by the sleeve of his dinner jacket. He was chuckling to himself and dropped his head, to avoid papa's eyes.

I needed someone to back me up and he was the one near at the moment.

Papa: Yinzi, what is this?

Papa waved my strappy shoes with his hand in front of me. I grinned.

Me: My shoes.

Papa: Why did you take it off.......in the middle of the...party?

Me: Well, I... I...

I tugged at Jungkook's sleeves harder and pulled him forward.

Me: My feet hurt already papa, right, Kookie?

I did my best to look pitiful in front of papa. LOL. Jungkook avoided papa's gaze, but he nodded as I asked him.

Papa: Put on your shoes. It's not proper to go walking barefoot, especially since we're at a party. Go and sit down if your feet hurt. Stop wandering around.

Me: Yes, papa.

And he gave me my shoes back. I hesitantly put it back on and walked slowly to the nearest chair. Jungkook followed me and sat on the chair beside me. He shifted in his seat and faced me instead of the dance floor.

Most of the people have gone to the dance floor. Some went to the balcony for fresh air and do chit chat. The businessmen and businesswomen had gone table hopping and talking with each other. The wives and husbands were either talking to each other as well, or at the dance floor. The children were nowhere to be found inside the ballroom. Well, most of them at least. Because among a few, I was one that stayed inside.

There was Jungkook, too.

And Taeyong, who had gone to sit on my other side.

I patted my knees in boredom.

JK: So, I can't dance with you, huh...

Me: Nope. Sorry.

JK: Bummer.

Me: Actually, I don't know how to dance.

JK: I should be the judge.

Me: Just believe me.

JK: You can take off your shoes first.

Me: And earn the ire of Wu Zun again.

JK: He won't see. We'll just stay here.

Taeyong coughed loudly.

JK: Do you need cough medicine?

TY: No, thanks.

JK: That sounded like dry cough.

He smirked at Taeyong.

TY: Yeah. But not as dry...as...your attempts...

JK: Hmmm...

TY: You do know what I mean, right?

JK: Of course. I'm not stupid.

Me: Both of you, shut up.

TY: I'm not doing anything.

JK: Right.

Me: If you don't shut up, I'm gonna leave.

Actually, I was kinda stressed. It sounded like they were on the verge of punching each other in the face. It was pretty obvious they were sizing each other up and testing each other's limits.

I rested my head on the table and huffed.

Jungkook poked my cheeks and laughed silently.

Damn his eye-smile.

I pouted and slapped his hand away.

He teased me more by reaching out a hand and pretending to poke my nape and my shoulder. I glared at him. I had to. If not, I would have hugged him.

Sheesh.

I faced the other way, forgetting that Taeyong was sitting there. He had rested his elbows on the table and was looking straight ahead. I peered at where he was facing. It was just a blank wall.

Weird Brat.

I ended up admiring his side profile. How his perfect nose accentuated his features and his sort of sleepy, piercing eyes.

Shut up Xiao Yi.

Why did I have to live in this year and age? I wanted to go back in time or in the future I would possibly not meet any one of the two.

To make matters worse, Taeyong seemed to have noticed I was staring at him. He turned his head slightly to look at me. He snorted when he saw me staring.

TY: Like what you're seeing so far?

Me: *flick his head and banged my head on the table*

I felt a flick on my head as well. Then a poke on my other side.

I felt like I was in those comic strip angel versus devil situations. Jungkook as the angel and Taeyong as the devil. Or was it the other way around? Nah. I was sure Taeyong was the devil.

I raised my head and looked at them one after the other. I raised both hands and pointed at each of them with each pointy finger.

Me: You and you, don't touch me.

Then I saw someone stand behind Taeyong.

The boss.

I bet he heard me saying "Don't touch me" to both of the boys beside me.

Mr. Soo Kui: Good evening.

Me/JK: Good evening sir.

Mr. Soo Kui: How are you enjoying the party so far?

Me: Good. But...my feet hurts already.

JK: Err...good, sir.

Mr. Soo Kui: Taeyong, ask Yinzi to dance, will you?

TY: Didn't you hear? Her feet hurts already.

Mr. Soo Kui: You were not fast enough.

TY: That was not my fault.

And he stood up and walked away. The boss just grunted and patted my back before he walked away as well. Jungkook stared after the two. Then he shook his head.

JK: I think Taeyong hates his appa.

Me: They just don't talk to each other very often.

JK: Appa is strict, but I don't talk to him like how Taeyong did.

Me: What do you expect? He's a spoiled rich kid.

JK: I'm spoiled too, you know.

Me: Jinjja?

And he laughed.

JK: Yes. I pretty much get everything I want.

Me: Do you throw tantrums if you don't get what you want?

JK: No. I don't need to.

Me: Oh. Taeyong seems to be the type to throw a fit if he doesn't get what he wants.

JK: Do you want someone like that for the rest of your life?

Me: Uh...well...actually....I'm thirsty. Let's go get something to drink?

JK: You're avoiding my question.

Me: What question?

JK: Like I said.

But he didn't press it on. He stood up and waited until I stood up from my chair. I let him lead going to the fruit punch bowl. But when we reached the table where the fruit punch bowl was, it was already empty. The attendant who was there said they were still at the kitchens getting the refill. Jungkook asked if it was okay if we went to the kitchens instead and ask for something to drink there. The guy said it was alright and gave us the directions.

The kitchen was at the first floor of the hotel. Most of the restaurants were on the first floor. The ballroom was on the third floor. Most of the third floor were function or conference rooms and two ballrooms.

Jungkook walked slowly beside me. My feet didn't hurt as much as earlier because I was able to rest for a while. Nevertheless, I held on to his arm as he supported me.

Ugh. I hated walking around wearing heels.

He led me to the escalator at the end of the hall. Hua Chen and a guy was there, just before the escalator, flirting with each other.

Poor guy.

It was official. The Dongs were party crashers and gold diggers.

I smirked as we passed Hua Chen and the guy. She pretended not to see me and continued flirting with the guy. I heard her say with deliberation, "You're actually better looking than Wu Luhan."

Yeah, right.

I snorted at that and stepped on the escalator after Jungkook. I knew she heard me snort. I didn't care. Har har har. I knew she was bluffing. My Luhan gege was better looking of course.

We reached the first floor and Jungkook looked ahead for the kitchen door. Before I proceeded, I took off my shoes. My feet were starting to hurt again. Jungkook waited for me and offered to carry my shoes. We walked towards one end of the hall again and found the door to the kitchen. A guy in uniform came out of the double doors pushing a trolley with covered trays on top. He bowed slightly as he saw us. Jungkook asked him if it was okay if we go in and ask for some drinks. The guy nodded and pointed us in the right direction, before he wheeled the trolley away.

Inside the kitchen was total chaos. Because aside from the Soo Kui party above, the other ballroom had a party as well. And they were the ones who cooked for the in-house restaurant as well.

Jungkook and I walked farther towards the big freezers where they stored their cold cuts and seafood. There were freezers where they kept their fresh juices as well, ready to be served to the waiting guests. The cooks, chefs and assistants were busy, but they nodded as they pointed towards a fridge and cupboard where they kept the drinking glasses.

We walked over to the cupboard and got two glasses. Jungkook opened the fridge and, "Whoaaa...what would you like to drink?"

I peeked inside. There were cartons of juice concentrate and some fresh fruit slices.

Me: Can we get some of each?

JK: Hahahaha. Maybe?

Me: Yeah, I think we can.

I took a carton of juice and opened it. I placed my glass on the nearest counter and poured the juice. I asked Jungkook to get some slices of fruit and place it in my glass. He hung the straps of my shoes on his arm and went to get a clean fork from the cupboard and got some.

Cute.

LOL.

As we helped ourselves with the fresh fruit drinks, we heard something breaking outside a door. It was the back door of the kitchen. No one noticed or heard it except us. The people in the kitchen were busy with what they were doing. I gulped the last of my drink and nudged Jungkook to follow me towards the door. He took a last sip from his glass and followed me.

I could hear hushed voices from outside. I pressed my ear on the door to try hearing what the people outside were saying. Jungkook looked a bit worried and grabbed my arm.

JK: Let's go. I don't think it's safe to go out and check.

Me: Wait...I think I hear something.

JK: Let's just go.

Me: Someone's talking...

I pressed my ear harder on the door. Jungkook pressed his ear on the door as well.

"Someone might hear us."

"Shhh...Yixing. You're going to get us caught."

Yixing?

"You're the one noisy, Jin. Hey..don't touch that."

That's my brother's name. I looked at Jungkook. He looked back at me and mouthed, "That's your brother...and my brother?"

"Because you don't wanna touch it, so I will."

Oh my god. What were they doing?

Touching?

What?

I turned the knob without hesitation and pushed the door open. Jungkook was startled and almost stumbled forward. He still had his ears pressed on the door.

The door led to a narrow balcony and stairs going down to the back of the hotel. Lay was standing in front of Jin, with his hands on his hips. Jin was crouched on the floor and picking up what looked like glass splinters of a vodka bottle and a wet floor. Some drinking glasses were on the floor. They must have put it down after the bottle broke.

The two were startled when I opened the door.

Lay: What the actual fu- Oh...Xiao Yi..

Jin: Kookie! What are you doing here?

Lay: Where are your shoes?

Jin: Go back to the party, Jungkook.

From the looks of it, they were trying to smuggle a bottle of vodka from the kitchens through the backdoor. They were probably going to get themselves drunk tonight.

Me: You were trying to smuggle vodka?

Lay: No.

Jin: Yes.

JK: Hyung...

Jin grinned at his younger brother. Then footsteps were heard coming up the stairs. Kris and Yoongi appeared at the top of the stairs.

Kris: Oh.

Yoongi: You two got busted?

Jin: Nehhh...

Kris: Xiao Yi, don't tell papa.

Lay: Or we will all be dead.

Jin: Kookie-yah. Shhh...

My brothers were going to get drunk?

Me: Why?

Kris: Just taste, okay. Go back to the party. Anyway, we won't get any because these two chose this time to break the only vodka bottle we could smuggle.

Lay: Sorry orz.

Yoongi: We could try and get another one.

Me: No!

I stood in front of the door.

Kris: Where are your shoes?

Jungkook raised his hand, carrying it for me.

Kris: Put your shoes back on. Now.

Me: My feet hurt.

Kris: There are glass splinters, Wu Yinzi.

There was my full name. Of course, I needed to put my shoes back on, otherwise, I'd be carried off back to the party. Kris ge wouldn't hesitate to carry me if I didn't obey.

Grrrrr...

To make matters more trivial, I saw Xiumin and Luhan appear on top of the stairs, behind Kris and Yoongi.

Okay. So all of the oldies were in on this one. That's why they weren't at the ballroom anymore. They had their own agenda.

Where was Suho?

"What's taking you so long?"

There he was. He just appeared behind Luhan.

Suho: Oh. Busted.

The oldies didn't push through with their plan to get wasted the whole evening. If I was not mistaken, the oldies had asked papa's permission to stay for the night at the hotel; Suho and Lay, included. And I bet Wu Zun had given his permission because he trusted his sons to do the right thing. Even behind his back.

Jungkook had sideglanced his Jin hyung the whole time as we "journeyed" back to the party. I think he wasn't expecting his hyung to try drinking, as well. Jin kept chuckling to himself as he saw his brother eye him with suspicion.

Then an idea hit me.

I had something I could use to blackmail the oldies. It could come in handy in the future. I smiled victoriously.

Luhan: Why are you smiling like that?

Me: Oh, nothing.

Luhan: Don't even think about it.

Me: I wasn't thinking about anything in particular.

Xiumin: What is that thinking something about?

He clearly wasn't paying attention.

Me: Nothing, oppa. Just excited to give you your Christmas gifts tomorrow. You're leaving on Sunday, right?

Xiumin: Yes, we are.

Luhan: I'm not going anywhere, Yinzi.

Me: So, you don't want me to give you your gift yet?

Luhan: I.... Yeah. Let's wait until Christmas for that.

I knew he wanted to say something else, but he didn't.

Back at the party, most of the boys were back in the ballroom. Chanyeol had led Baek, Chen and Kyungsoo to the roofdeck because they couldn't earlier. Chen and Kyungsoo had to sing two songs each, by popular request form the guests. Baek refused to play another piece, saying he just prepared one and his fingers were tired.

LOL.

Tao, Kai and Sehun now sat beside mama at the head table. They seemed to be playing a card game. Walking over to their table, I saw that it had Chen's initials stamped at the back of each card. I sat down on one empty chair.

Chenchen and his precious playing cards. It was his precious Silver Monarch playing cards. I think he brought it anywhere with him. Papa had given him the cards three birthdays ago. It was not easy to get those cards and some were sold online on eBay for almost $300.

Jungkook sat beside his eomma who was talking to mama. The other boys were just standing nearby, talking amongst each other about whatever. I unhooked the straps of my shoes and let it slip off. I raised both legs up and hugged my knees.

Yeah. I forgot I was still at the party.

Beep!

That was my phone. I had a little sling purse where I kept my phone. I took it out and checked the message.

"Yinzi, put your feet down."

It was Luhan. He was watching me two tables away. He deliberately blocked papa's view. Papa was talking to the boss and another gentleman. Luhan had stood in front of papa so he won't see me.

I immediately put my feet down and slipped my feet back to my shoes. But I didn't strap it back in place.

Beep!

Now what?

I already put my feet down, please.

I glared at Luhan. But he was no longer looking at me. I checked the message.

"I'm still waiting for that dance."

I looked up and straight at Jungkook. He smiled at me with his fingers doing the V sign.

"You have to drag me away from my chair."

"Okay. Wait for me."

"NO!"

"Hahaha. Just five minutes."

"What's with you and dancing, anyway?"

"Dancing is one of the expressions of the heart. It doesn't matter if you're good at it or not, as long as you love to dance. It doesn't hurt to learn a step or two, to be honest."

You had me at hello.

"Fine. Five minutes."

"Okay. Wait up."

He stood up from his chair and walked over to me. I had to properly strap my shoes again. He just smiled while he waited. He reached out a hand and I hesitated to take it. Because this was it. I was going to dance.

I didn't want to.

I'd be in close...no. Closer proximity with him. I couldn't handle that. Yet, I stood up and took his hand.

Shivers.

Him: You're cold. Relax.

Me: Easy for you to say.

Him: I'll take care of you, okay. Don't worry.

Me: Good luck with that.

Him: You should start trusting me.

Me: Right.

And he led me to the dance floor. Well, a little way off, so we were almost near the wall. Hahaha. I bet he didn't want the oldies to see him dancing with me. He had let go of my hand and was now standing in front of me with the giggles.

Right. Go and giggle some more.

It was awkwardly funny. I had to giggle too.

His head was bowed down slightly and I could see his mouth form into that side smile. I just stood there in front of him, waiting.

Me: I think we're dancing now.

JK: No. Hold on. Let me take a deep breath.

And he looked sideways for a few seconds and heaved. He smiled some more and his lips in nervousness.

Put that tongue back in your mouth, juseyo.

He cleared his throat and awkwardly reached out his hand to hold mine. He bit his lower lip as he chuckled and placed a hand on my waist. I had to stifle a giggle too. I counted one to five before I placed a hand on his shoulder. He was already holding my other hand.

We both burst out laughing, but didn't move.

Awkward.

Me: Okay...So, what now?

Him: We wait for the music.

I didn't notice there was no music. The couples on the dance floor were swaying to imaginary music. Then someone went to the piano and played a song. It was that song from Rascal Flatts. Then someone sang along to it.

Bless the Broken Road.

.

Jungkook took a deep breath as I did. Then we both laughed again. I think the music got the best of our giggles. We awkwardly danced to the song while laughing. It was supposed to be romantic.

Wait. Who said it was supposed to be...

..romantic?

I was lying to myself. I knew I was waiting for this moment. I let myself get lost in the moment. I knew it was only for a few minutes. It was just a matter of minutes until someone from the oldies see me.

I risked a chance to look at Jungkook.

He was staring at me.

JK: You lied.

Me: Huh?

JK: You definitely know how to dance.

Me: It's pure luck.

JK: I'm lucky.

Me: Hmm...

He titled his head a litte and narrowed his eyes a bit. Then he smiled.

Aw, shucks. Stop it.

I had to look away. And when I did, I saw Luhan walking towards us.

Ooops!

I quickly withdrew my hand away from Jungkook's shoulders and pulled him away from the dance floor, going back to the table. I muttered as he looked at me quizically as he let me drag him across the dance floor going to the head table.

"Jail warden coming."

He had to look around for the "jail warden" and mouthed an "Oh" when he saw Luhan in the middle of the dance floor now. The deer gege stood with one hand on his waist and his other hand wagging a disapproving finger at us.

Luhan caught up with us.

Luhan: You two. What do you think you're doing?

Me: Dancing.

Luhan: You're technically still grounded today, did you know?

Me: No...

Luhan: Go sit down. Now.

And he faced Jungkook.

"My sister is not yet allowed to date."

Not yet.

Not yet.

Yay!!!

Me: I'll tell papa about the vodka. I don't think Suho and Lay ge are old enough to drink yet.

Luhan: Ugh! I can't believe my own sister is blackmailing me!

He wagged another disapproving finger at me and...

"Fine. Just for tonight. Do whatever you want. NO. Not whatever. But...gaaahhh...I meant, enjoy the party."

And he walked away. Defeated.

I smiled victoriously and winked at Jungkook.

Yes, I did.

JungYi finally had their first dance. And Luhan lost the war....for once. LOL. xD  Anyway, I hope you liked this chapter with the vodka and all. Hahaha. → 사랑해요! ♥♥♥ 我愛你們!吴愛你們!
