#2. Better
NeffyShortiesIt was the first Halloween she had to spend apart from her best friend. The fact that it was Taeyeon’s favorite celebration day made her a little bit more blue – bluer than she had ever been since she left home. The girl was constantly in her mind. She wanted to call but she couldn’t. Taeyeon had said it loud and clear.
“You go on your way, I will go to mine. You and I are better off separated for now.”
Tiffany was angry – moreover she was disappointed. Was it really that easy for Taeyeon to decide that? Didn’t she remember what they had gone through together? Did thirteen years mean nothing to her? Of all people, Taeyeon was the last person she’d ever imagine to let her down this way.
She’d hate Taeyeon if she could.
However, she couldn’t. She had tried. It didn’t work.
One thing left to do – just pretend Taeyeon didn’t exist, or whatever they had was never real.
Thus, she didn’t bother to find a dress for this special occasion. Her cousins and friends were going to a party their mutual threw. She decided to stay home. Too much memory of Taeyeon would kill her.
Her phone on the nightstand lit up. She observed the device for a while, contemplating whether she should look at the text or not. She was so exhausted with the constant schedules and meeting people. It felt like she had to start everything right from the beginning. The night was still early but she planned to sleep it away.
The phone lit up again.
She sighed then grabbed it. “Yul?” She whispered. She tapped the screen as it showed the text. Wanna hear Taeyeon’s new song? Her eyes lingered on that sentence. She wrote and composed it by herself, came another text. I know I shouldn’t record it. But I think you want to hear it.
Her heart raced rapidly. Despite of everything that had been happening for the past month, Taeyeon never failed to make her proud. Her passion in singing was amazing. But self composed song was something different. Taeyeon didn’t really have self-esteem to do that before.
Tiff?
Her fingers moved hesitantly on the screen. Sure.
Your smile still lingers on my mind
I can’t erase it oh I can’t erase it
A great wound in my chest, it longs for you
Oh it longs for you
It will never be easy to forget what you and I had gone through together
Oh you and I
I have not heard anything from you
Now we are only a memory
One thing you need to know, babe, my love for you will never die
Taeyeon’s voice took her breath away. The melody was beautiful. Did Taeyeon really compose it by herself? Did she write the lyric? Did she talk about her? Tiffany clenched her jaw tightly. If it were indeed for her, then Taeyeon had not moved on. What the hell did she do to them?
She was about to type thanks when another record popped up.
“The song,” a pause. “It’s for her, isn’t it?”
“Is there any use should I deny it?”
“The fans will probably straight up know the person you address wit
