#1. Temptation
NeffyShortiesToday I learn about temptation. It’s not necessarily a bad thing but maybe in this case, it bends to negative side, at least in my opinion.
Personally for me, relationship is sacred. From the beginning of getting to know each other, we build trust to a person we believe, then that trust develops stronger into faith that we hold onto in the future. It is a high-risk move, I must say. Putting your heart in the line is frightening and dangerous. If you give it to someone reckless, this fragile thing we called feeling will break to pieces till no more to ourselves.
The point is, trusting someone is a brave action.
Anyway, here’s the story…
I have a new team since I move to the new company. One of them is sick now. He’s having a high fever so basically he’s pretty much in pain all the time. Being far away from family in moment like this big time, but that’s the risk he has taken. Luckily, he has friends who care. We do whatever he wants. We have not known each other very well but under this circumstance, we become a family or at least friends he can rely on.
Anyway, I have another friend, she’s a caring person, I can tell. The problem is, to my sick friend, she cares too much. Too much – that I can say that she has violated her boyfriend’s faith. I mean, massaging him skin to skin – under his shirt? Sitting beside him way too close? Sleeping on the same bed at night?
What would her boyfriend think if he ever finds out?
They’d break up for sure.
We’ve talked to her this afternoon, half joking half serious, about him and her. She just shrugs it off, smiling and says there’s nothing going on between them.
Well, nothing for now, but what about then?
Moreover, she and her boyfriend are in long distance relationship and regularly fighting. Three hours away from each other compares to the constantly present person by her side that also happens to have a sweet mouth, how is that not threatening? Temptation is right in front of her nose. Sadly, she couldn’t see it.
I will not deny the excitement of exploring new things from a new person. It’s fresh, it’s raw, it’s naïve – it’s tempting. Been there done that, folks. Just imagine being in a brand new shoes and an old one. The new one is shiny, holding your feet a little bit tighter, it’d probably give you small cut here and there, but you don’t mind because it makes you happy. Then there’s the old one, it has loosened its grip, the cushion is not as soft as it was, although it still protects you, you’d prefer the new one.
What I’m saying is, the longer you know someone, you’d understand them for their good and bad, you’d adjust to them, you’d trust them that’s why you and them ease off. The flame is still there, burning as hot as before but in colder air.
