Arms Of The Angels - What If #1
NeffyShortiesAuhor's Note:
I am still working on all my stories. I just don't have enough time to do research on some things for the others. In the mean time, I'll post what I have here in my laptop. As the title say, What If. This storyline has nothing to do with the original one. Enjoy, people!
#1
Taeyeon woke up with a groan when her phone rang persistently on the nightstand. It was amusing how Tiffany didn’t even twitch through the noise. Her wife had gotten used to it by now. Because well, how could she not? Taeyeon’s damn phone rang almost every night, even when she was not the cardio surgeon on call.
“Hello?” Taeyeon picked up the call hoarsely.
“Taeyeon-ah?”
Wait, the voice was strangely familiar. Taeyeon narrowed her eyes to see the blazing screen more clearly; Daddy.
“Daddy?” Taeyeon sat up straight. Why did he call in the middle of the night?
“Is Tiffany asleep? I’ve been trying to reach her.” Taeyeon could tell he was nervous. There was also some indistinct beeping voice.
“Yes, she is,” she glanced over the sleeping bump beside her. “What happen, daddy? Is everything okay?”
“Mommy is having a heart attack. We’re on our way to hospital now. Paramedics are with us.”
“What?!” Taeyeon jumped from the bed. She quickly ran to the bathroom, afraid she’d wake Tiffany.
“I – can you please tell Tiffany? I don’t know what to do, Taeyeon-ah. It’s so sudden. She just passed out on me. I – I–” His voice cracked then he stopped talking. Taeyeon could hear the faint sniffing at the end of the line.
“Daddy, I’ll tell Fany right now, okay? Please keep your phone close. We will call you shortly. It’s going to be okay, daddy.”
“A – alright. Thank you, Tae.”
When she cut off the call, Taeyeon took a deep breath. How should she break the news? Tiffany had been under a lot of stress lately. This would weight more burden on her shoulder. But what choice did she have?
Taeyeon walked out from the bathroom slowly. Carefully, she sat at the edge of Tiffany’s side of the bed. She tucked Tiffany’s stranded hair away then caressed her cheek softly.
“Babe, wake up.”
Tiffany didn’t move.
“Babe, please wake up.” Taeyeon leaned in and kissed Tiffany’s forehead. “Wake up.”
Tiffany stirred a bit. She frowned at Taeyeon who kept on giving her light kisses. “Why are you awake?”
“I have something to tell you,” Taeyeon whispered.
“What is it? Can’t it wait till morning?”
“I’m afraid no.”
Tiffany sighed heavily, but opened her eyes nonetheless. “What is it?”
“Daddy just called me,” Taeyeon slipped her hand under the blanket, intertwined it with her wife’s. “Mommy has to be admitted to the hospital due to heart attack.”
“What?!” Gone all her sleepiness. “How?!”
“I don’t know. He has been trying to call you. I’m so sorry, babe.” Taeyeon pulled Tiffany in to a hug.
“T – Tae, I have to – I have to call him. P – please.” Tiffany stuttered. She was still processing, but the terror was rapidly approaching.
Taeyeon swiftly did what she told. She allowed Tiffany clutching her hand tightly. As Tiffany was done with the call, she cried heartbreakingly. Taeyeon didn’t know what to do except letting Tiffany wailed on her shoulder, comforting her in silence.
“I have to go. He – he needs me, Tae. He n – needs–”
“Shh, I know.”
