Belated birthday celebration...or not.

You Found Me

here is one chapter before i go on break. i'll be having exams for the next 3weeks, so i wont be updating so often. Stupid college, i have exam almost once a week =.=

The streets were still empty. Shop owners were only starting to open their stores. The sun was already bright. I could see my own shadows as I hailed a cab. I told the cab driver my address when I got inside.

It was only 9am. Hana suggested we all go for breakfast but none of the boys could wake up. So I decided to go home.

Well, part of the reason why I left it’s because I really couldn’t face Jin Young. The thought about last night made me blush. I can’t believe he tried to kiss me.

And I can’t believe I kissed him.

“Oh! I didn’t expect you to be home early!” Mrs. Kim said when I walked into the kitchen.

“Well, I’m home!” I said, hugging her.

She motioned me over to the counter. “There’s milk in the fridge, I’ll make you breakfast.”

-

I tossed my hand bag on the floor and changed into some comfortable cloths. I just got home from lunch with my parents and some of my father’s friends.

I the TV as I lay on my bed, flipping from channels to channels. Just then, my phone rang.

“Hello?”

“Hey.”

Jin Young.

“H-hi.”

He laughed. “Are we gonna talk or keep saying hi?”

I find myself laughing too. “Yeah. Wassup?”

“You’ll be free at night, right?”

“I guess so. Why?”

“Yah.” He said. “Don’t tell me you forgot what I asked you yesterday.”

Yesterday? Oh, right. We’re supposed to go out.

“Where do you want to go?” I said, trying not to sound like I’ve forgotten about it.

“Hmm….Do you have a place in mind?” he asked.

I shook my head, even knowing that he couldn’t see me. “Nope.”

“Okay. I’ll come pick you up at your house?”

I sat up. “No don’t come.”

“Hmm? Anything wrong?”

“M-my parents….”

“Ahh…. Got it. How about I wait for you at the bus stop?”

“That sounds better.” I said.

“Okay. I’ll text you about it.”

Instead of replying, I yawned.

Opps.

I heard Jin Young laughing over the phone. “Are you tired?”

“A bit.”

“Alright, go get some rest. I’ll see you later.”

“Okay. Goobye oppa.”

“Goodbye, Mia.”

-

I button up my coat as I walked down to the second floor.

I knock on my father’s study room softly.

“Come in.”

I opened the door. He was reading some documents as I walked in.

“Hello dear. Oh, going out?”

I nodded.

“With your friends?”

I nodded again.

“Glad to know you have some friends.”

Is that supposed to be a good thing or bad thing?

“Y-yeah. So…. I just wanted to let you know I’m not having dinner tonight.”

“Okay, no problem dear. Don’t be home too late.”

“I won’t.”

He nodded. “Good, now go have fun.” He smiled.

My father smiled. It’s been a while since I saw him smiling.

I met my stepmother while walking out.

“Out again?” she scoffed.

“Yes.” I said, putting on my boots.

I ran out to the gate before she could continue criticizing me.

I spotted Jin Young standing at the side of the bus stop with his hands in his pocket.

I walked up to him and tap on his shoulder. He turned around and smiled.

“Hi.” I said.

“Hello.” He said.

I nodded.

“Are we really doing this again?” he asked.

“Sorry.”

He laughed. “You’re wearing skirt.”

“Can’t I?” I said.

“No no, it’s just, well, new.”

“I wear skirts in school too you know.”

“Ah..” he nodded his head. “But, this is the first time you’re wearing it outside the school.

Don’t blame me for that. I just want to look pretty in front of you.

“Do you need help?” he asked. “What’s in that bag?”

I held up the bag I was holding. “Happy belated birthday, Jin Young oppa.”

“Aish, you don’t have too.” He said, taking the bag. “But thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” I smiled shyly.

“Can I open it?” he said.

“Of course.”

He opened the bag and took out the present.

“Red scarf?” he said, looking at it.

“Erm yeah. Is it okay? I mean, I never got a present for a boy in my whole life. And since its winter, I was thinking maybe a scarf is good, because I don’t see you wearing one. And red is your favourite colour, so I…..”

I stopped when I realized I was babbling.

“Y-yeah.”

He laughed and shook his head. “I like it.”

“Really?” I asked.

“Yes. You know what I think I’ll wear it now.”

He wrapped the scarf around his neck and smiled. “It’s warm.”

“That’s good to hear.”

“Hey, since the scarf is long, we can share it.”

“W-what?”

“Yeah.” He held out his hand. “Come here.”

“Are you crazy? How can we- oh bus!”

“Yah, don’t run away.” He said and chased after me.

-

“So….Where are we going?”

“Secret.” He winked at me and took my hand.

“Not fair.” I yanked my hand back and put it in my pockets.

“Yah, don’t be like this. Let me hold your hand.”

“I’m keeping it warm in here.” I said.

“Aish.” He pushed my forehead.

“The truth is..” Jin Young said. “I haven’t actually planned on where we should go.”

“Then I guess I’m going home.” I said, turning my back to where we came from.

“Yah.” He grabbed my arm and spun me around. I looked up and grinned. “Of course I’m joking. Let’s walk around again, like what we always do.”

He laughed. “Sure, but first…” he took my hands out from my pockets. “I will have to hold your hand.”

“I refuse.”

“Who ditch me last night?”

Dammit.

He grinned. “Good girl. Man, your hands are really cold.”

He looked around and then put my hand in his sweater pocket. “Let’s go.”

I could have asked where but knowing Jin Young, I’ll most likely to get a reply of ‘secret’ or ‘no idea’.

Jin Young stopped walking and opened the door of a shop.

“Oppa. Do you need something?” I asked.

“Not me. You.”

“Eh?”

I finally know what he meant when I found myself staring at a bunch of gloves.

“Pick one.” He said.

“I can’t.”

“Why not?”

“You’re still holding my hand.”

He looked down at the sweater pocket then up at me. “I’ll pick then.”

“Hey!”

He chuckled and looked around. “This is nice.”

“It’s black.” I frowned.

“Oh!” he reached for something on the top.

“Red!”

“O-okay.”

“Look.” he released my hand and held his scarf up. “Red and red. Like a couple.”

“I think I prefer the black one.”

Jin Young pouted while staring at the red gloves. “Well, I guess you could-.”

I snatch the gloves before he could put it back. “Give me that.”

I wore it and held my hands up. “Say, it does match your scarf.”

He nodded happily.

In the end he bought three pairs of different color gloves for me.

“You need to stop paying things for me.” I muttered.

He swings my hand as we walked. “You need to stop telling me that.”

I sighed. “Understood, Jin Young sunbae-nim.”

He stopped walking and looked at me. “Yah, what happen to oppa?”

I shrugged. “Just feel like calling you sunbae now.”

“Well, this sunbae orders you to call him oppa.”

I chuckled. “Alright, oppaaaaaaaaaa.”

He smiled and ruffled my hair. I fixed my messy hair as we continue walking along the streets, stopping from shops to shops.

By late evening, Jin Young brought me to a restaurant down the streets.

“We always come here for celebrations.” Jin Young explained as we sat down.

“Really? Is that why you brought me here? We should call the rest too.”

He shook his head. “If I wanted to I would have already called them.”

Oh, true.

After the waiter took our orders, Jin Young continued telling me how did celebrated their birthdays over the past few years.

I nodded and smiled as he got more and more excited about it, waving his hands as he spoke. I can’t help but to feel lonely at the thought about birthdays.

Birthday, I haven’t had a real birthday celebration for the past few years.

The food came after 15minutes.

Before I could eat, Jin Young stopped me.

“What?” I said.

“Feed me.”

“Eh?”

He grinned. “Birthday boy said feed me.”

“Sorry, your birthday was yesterday.” I fork my pasta and put it in my mouth. “This is good!”

He pouted and blinked his eyes rapidly.

Urgh, so hard to resist.

“Fine.” I said.

His pout turned into a big smile as he open his mouth.

He recovers fast eh?

I coiled the pasta with his fork and shoved it into his mouth.

“Be gentle!”

“That’s how I eat.” I grinned.

He shook his head. “Now your turn. Say ah~”

What.

“Erm, you’re using your fork.”

“I don’t mind.” He said, leaning towards me.

I sighed and open my mouth. He gently put the food in my mouth.

“Mine taste better.” I said.

“Picky.” He said. “You have sauce.”

“Hmm?”

He took a piece of tissue and wiped my lips. I looked up at him as he sat back down. The way he looked at me, it’s so different from his usual self.

Suddenly I heard bells ringing. I saw a waiter holding a bell.

“Good evening everyone! Since it’s the weekends, we have a special game for all of you!” He said.

“Game?” I asked.

“Yeah.” Jin Young nodded. “They always have these types of things.”

“Now.” the waiter continued. “As you can see there are paper and pens on your table. I want each of you to take one and listen to my question carefully.”

Jin Young passed me a paper and opened the cap of the pen for me. “Thanks.” I said.

“Now, the first question. Puppy or kitten? If you choose puppy, write 1, if you choose kitten, write 2.”

I wrote 1 on my paper.

“Ready? Okay. Now add 3 into your first answer.

1+3=4

“Now divide your current number by 2.”

The question goes on and on. Some of them were really random, like which rainbow color you preferred.

“Why are we doing Math during the weekends?” I asked Jin Young. He laughed. “No idea.”

-

“And that’s the last question. Your answer must be in single digits.”

Jin Young looked at his answer. It was 1.

“That’s weird.” He heard Mia said. “I got 0. Did I count wrongly?” she asked.

“Maybe.” He said.

“Alright everyone, listen up. This is actually a psychology test.”

“For those who got 0, it means they had never been kissed before.”

He heard Mia laughing as she turned over to face him.

“What did you get oppa?”

“For those who got 1, it means they had been kissed before. For those who got 2……”

Jin Young froze, he wasn’t listening anymore. He quickly crumpled up his paper. But it was too late as Mia was already looking at it.

“Y-you got 1.” She whispered.

. He thought.

Mia was staring at his paper, or hands. “You got 1.” She said again.

Jin Young didn’t know what to do. He panicked when he saw Mia tearing.

“Mia.” He touched her arm.

“I erm, need to use the washroom.” She got up and took her bag.

Jin Young wanted to follow but decided to stay put, until he saw where she was heading to.

That isn’t the washroom, that’s the exit door.

-

I ran. I didn’t know why, but I just keep running.

When I saw Jin Young’s answer, I felt like my heart stopped beating. It’s like I couldn’t’ breath all of a sudden.

It’s just a stupid game, why was I so bothered about it?

I stopped running when I was out of breath. I squatted down and buried my face on my knees.

Why did I assume that he never dated before? That he never had any good memories with his ex? Of course, they liked each other. They were happy with each other. And they had kissed in the past.

I looked up when I felt a presence near me. I saw a pair of black shoe in front of my face.

“H-hi.” I said.

Jin Young’s hands were on his knees as he catches his breath.

“T-that, that was before I met you.” he said. I nodded and looked back down.

“Mia.” He said, holding my arm and pulling me up.

“I know.” I said, wiping my tears with the back of my hand.

He gently took my hands away from my face. “Don’t cry, please. It’s all in the past.”

I stared at my boots because I couldn’t look at him right now. “I’m sorry, I know it, but I..”

I know all this happened before he met me. My mind understands it, but the tears won’t stop. I feel so selfish. It’s like I want both now and the past of Jin Young all for myself.

“Shh.” He kissed my forehead as he my hair.

“S-sorry.” I choked.

“Don’t cry.”

He kissed my forehead again, then my cheek. I know he was trying to calm me down, but it made me cry even more.

He wiped my tears with his thumb as I held onto him.

Then, he did something unexpected.

He kissed me.

On my lips.
