Deceit
Project ZeloYongguk swallowed what little of his pride that was left before entering. Upon opening that surprisingly heavy door, he found the boy propped up in the plush bed. No signs of pain, worry or stress. Something wasn't right. Zelo's face was flushed a healthy pink colour. He showed no signs of anyone who had tried to take their life. Nothing that Yongguk had ever seen before. And he'd seen it all. The sight was frustrating. However, he tried to put on a brave face. When push comes to shove, he had tried to take his life one way or another. Tried to draw out the lifeblood that kept him standing. To even taint the gift that was given and blessed to his parents, even if they were negligent towards that fact.
Zelo looked up and smiled a wide toothy grin.
"Hyung!"
Yongguk stretched his lips into a wary smile, biting on the back of his lip to fight back tears.
"Zelo-ah."
Yongguk sat on the bed with him and Zelo motioned for him to move his head that was in the way of the television he was mindlessly watching.
"What happened?"
Zelo didn't answer.
"Junhong?"
The boy stared straight at the blurry picture and listened to the distorted voice.
"Police officials state that they have new leads on the mysterious death of a local family man. A boy was identified to be the son and is now being searched for by the officers. Mr. Choi died from-"
Zelo turned off the TV set. "Can we not watch this?" Yongguk nodded, knowing that death is not the most compelling thing for an attempted suicide victim.
"Zelo, why?"
"I didn't want to be there." Zelo looked up at the doctor, his voice trembling and large eyes overflowing. "Not without you."
"Why me? I'm just your doctor."
"You're my hyung and I trust you. Not some half assed couple that can only feign sympathy. In some ways, we're alike." Yongguk gulped at the last addition.
"Why did you try to kill yourself?" Yongguk was losing his professional edge.
"I didn't."
Yongguk looked at the boy, highly confused.
Zelo jumped out of bed.
"Careful! You'll pull out your stitching!" He warned, the thick bandages around both arms. Zelo withdrew his hand to grab a glass of water from his dresser. Without warning, he threw it on the floor, watching it smash into many different shards. Yongguk stared at him, speechless.
"Give me your arm." Zelo commanded, fiercely. For some reason, Yongguk automatically agreed, not having the willpower to deny him. He ed his arm towards the boy, eyebrows raised.
Zelo pressed a shard a centimetre above Yongguk's wrist, dragging the glass across the expanse of flesh. Yongguk didn't look, but he felt nothing until a wave of warm liquid trickled down his palm.
"Does it hurt?"
"No." Yongguk answered honestly.
"Exactly." Zelo laughed.
"Wait. So you didn't try to kill yourself?" Zelo shook his head. "You've done this before?" Junhong nodded, absentmindedly trying to cover his exposed scars.
"Junhong is a good actor when he needs to be."
