Guilt
Project ZeloYoungjae and Jongup stalked the room Jieun entered until she left. Youngjae called Himchan and got Yongguk and himself to come over. Youngjae had a small inclination that somehow, in some way, Yongguk had been involved.
"What's the problem, Youngjae?" Yongguk grumbled once he was nearly hauled into the hospital.
"Daehyun."
"What about him?"
"He's in this room." Youngjae pointed at the closed door.
"Why?"
"He had an injury, as you fine well know. Somehow it's gotten infected."
"Poor boy."
"Yongguk! I know you have some explaining to do. But I don't want to hear it. Go in there and do something. If for some reason you have to apologise, do it. We'll be staying here until you leave."
Himchan joined in. "Hyung, you said it yourself. A person is more open when they are vulnerable. They're brothers, so to speak, you might find something!"
Yongguk mumbled some form of insult under his breath but did as Youngjae said.
Inside the room, the ill boy lay curled up in his bed, shivering so violently you could hear his teeth crashing against each other, the sound grotesque against the deep, loud breaths he forced from his chest. Daehyun's face was painted a light eerie green and slathered in sweat, his soaked hair sticking to his forehead. His lips were now a tight white line of pain that showed blood red bitemarks that were otherworldly. Daehyun's purple eyelids shot open at the sound of the door clicking closed, showing how his face had become a wishy-washy blend of disgusting colours that all resembled some form of bruise or illness.
"Oh God." He gasped in between breaths when he saw Yongguk standing over him. "Please, don't hurt me again. I'm begging."
"I'm not going to hurt you."
"I'm serious. Take me to the police or whatever. Anything but this!" Daehyun reached down, wrapping his fingers around the tight gauze, trying to claw away the pain.
"Why would I take you to the police, Daehyun? What did you do?"
"Hacking into a legal document, kidnapping a kid or anything you want. Make something up!" His breathing got heavier and sweat began to drip on the pillow. "I should've gotten the police. I should've done something earlier. But everything I did, was for him. And this is how he repays me."
"How long have you known Junhong for?"
"We grew up in the same neighbourhood. I had been adopted since I was 3 and he used to come around to our place when we were kids. Obviously I was significantly older but he did. My mom used to cook for him and she loved him to pieces. That's why she adopted him, after his dad died."
"How did his dad die?"
Daehyun stayed quiet.
"What about his mother?"
"She died when he was born. He didn't have a mother, it's mostly why my mom cared for him-" Daehyun's grip tightened further as he unsuccessfully held back a scream of pain due to the searing wound.
"Um, I'm sorry, I guess.. For the leg."
Yongguk turned for the door after he felt he had overstayed his welcoming.
