19 - Holding on? Letting go?

The Endless War

Standing outside the door to Yoon Mi’s bedroom the next morning, Dae Hyun tried to listen and hear if she was awake.

Sensing nothing on the other side, he opened the door to see Yoon Mi still unconscious in the same position that Mrs. Kim left her in last night. Walking hurriedly over to her, Dae Hyun held her hand to check of there was anything wrong with her.

*Another problem of the heart…* He thought to himself after ensuring that all her vital organs were fine. Heading out to have a glass of blood, Dae Hyun was expecting to use quite a bit of his gift later and he could use the extra blood.

Bringing one up to the room, he sat by the side of the bed like usual and bent down so that their forehead would touch.

-

“I’m sorry Ji Yong…”

“What for Jagiya?” He smiled sweetly, breaking Yoon Mi’s heart further.

“Everything here is my imagination…Appa, Omma, Hae Yong oppa, Yoon Ji Unnie, you…In reality… you’ve all passed on and I’m all alone…” She said out loud more for herself to hear rather than Ji Yong.

Looking downcast “I see…I guess I couldn’t keep my promise to you after all…" Ji Yong said, holding her hands in his.

*How can his hands give off heat as if it was real? Can't we go back in time? Before all of this happened? While I could still hold you like this...* Yoon Mi stared at their hands blankly.

"Even if this isn’t real, Yoon Mi. Please be strong for me." Gently shaking her out of her own thoughts. "Continue living on, experience love like a normal person” He smiled sadly, remembering her initial fear of loving someone blood related.

Shaking her head vehemently “I hate this so much Ji Yong…” Yoon Mi cried, wrapping her arms around his waist. “I finally came to love you with all that I have but you’re not here anymore…” Burying her face into his chest, tears kept coming and she had no control over them. "I can't let you go Ji Yong...I can't...You're all I have left to hold on to"

"I love you Ji Yong...I finally do..." She whimpered, growing weak in his arms.

“Thank you for loving me Yoon Mi” He says softly into her ear. “You’re all that a guy could ever ask for” He hugs her tightly.

Staying like that for awhile, Ji Yong loosens his arms that were around her and gently pulled her away. “You can let go of me now” He said.

“I can’t…” Yoon Mi whimpered, not wanting to bid farewell just yet. Even if this was only in her mind, she would have wanted this to go on.

“You have to Yoon Mi. Vampires live for a very long time; I don’t want you to be alone throughout eternity because of me. Neither would I want you to join me in the afterlife either.” He looked at her sternly.

“Look at me Yoon Mi" He whispered, staring deeply into her eyes."When you’re ready...You must let go of me.”

Tears blurring her eyesight, Ji Yong used his thumb to gently wipe away her tears that spilled over.

As he slowly began to fade away, along with everything around them. Yoon Mi tried to cling onto him.

“Ji Yong!” She cried watching him fade into nothing, calling his name out repeatedly but to no avail. No matter how hard she had tried to remember him or imagining up her home. Nothing would come up.

It was as if her mind had finally acknowledged that he was dead. Refusing to play along in her fantasy world anymore after having its confirmation that Ji Yong is dead.

Knees giving way, Yoon Mi sat there staring blankly at the ground as the tears kept falling from her face.

Seeing the entire ordeal, Dae Hyun couldn’t help but feel bad for her.

No, he had never experienced this kind of pain before but it was obvious that a heart was broken.

“You’re lucky to have loved someone in that way before” Dae Hyun said as he seated in front of her.

Giving him a ‘what the hell’ look, “Can’t a girl grieve in peace?”

“Not when you’ve been unconscious for about ten hours.”

“What? It’s just ten hours! You’re treating it as if I’ve had my lights out for 10 days!” Yoon Mi exclaimed. *I can't believe this guy! Ten hours is normal! Ji Yong oppa even slept for a full 24hours and he was fine!*

“But between 10 hours and 10 days you’d rather be out for 10 days right.” Dae Hyun eyed her suspiciously.

"10 hours, 10 days or even 10 months or years, I don't care anymore! Can't you leave me until my tears run dry?!" Yoon Mi screamed.

"No. I can't" He answered her flatly.

"Why the hell is that?!" She gave him an incredulous look.

"Because my blood is running through you"

"What kind of dumb answer is that?! Then stop giving me your blood then!" Yoon Mi yelled at him.

"We both know what will happen if I stop giving you blood" Dae Hyun sighed.

"Well sorry for not being able control the spirits in my blood!" She snapped back at him in anger. "I didn't ask for all of this you know. I didn't ask for this damned never ending war for power and control" Yoon Mi didn't ask to be a Kwon and she certainly didn't ask for all this drama and pain in her life.

"But if you were given the chance to redo everything, would you still want to be a Kwon?" He asked hypothetically.

“I would have” She muttered as the question surprised her. Folding her arms and looked to the side, Yoon Mi thought of things that she would have done differently. Mainly how she would have loved Ji Yong more openly.

“Let’s go” He said, suddenly getting to his feet. “I’ve accomplished my mission”

“What mission?” Yoon Mi asked, not understanding the situation and what he meant.

“Getting you to stop crying.” He looked at her eyes; they were swollen and puffy but most importantly dry.

“Whatever” Yoon Mi huffed, silently hating Dae Hyun for interrupting her grieving marathon...

But thinking how he had dragged her back into consciousness before, a second feat shouldn’t be too hard.

-

Pulling away, Dae Hyun staggered to the chair he prepared for himself. Feeling completely exhausted even though the day had just begun. Wanting to grab the glass of blood, he realised he couldn’t because his hands were shaking from over exertion of his gift.

Struggling to remove his mask, Dae Hyun took deep breaths as he tried to steady his hands. Holding the glass gingerly, they trembled still but he knew that it would be better if he took some blood.

Hearing rustling of bed sheets, Yoon Mi was finally awake.

Eyes closed, with a painful expression on her face “I don’t know if I should hate you or thank you” her voice wavered.

“Thank me then. It’s easier than hating me.” Dae Hyun said pointedly as he set the glass on the table.

Opening her eyes, she quickly sat up and stared at him, ignoring the dizziness that she felt from getting up too fast. “You’re talking…without your mask…”

Rolling his eyes “You don’t remember me yelling at you the first time I gave you blood?”

“Things that night was blurry to me” She looked away dejectedly.

“You can remember every single moment of the past but you can’t recall the present?” Dae Hyun’s eyes turned dark in anger.

Suddenly very scared, Yoon Mi edged to the other side of the bed. Grabbing her wrist and yanking her to him. “Ah!!” She yelped as she collided against him.

“I get that you lost something important, Kwon Yoon Mi." He said, gripping her wrist so hard that she was wincing in pain. "But don’t ever forget that you need to keep your eyes forward. The road is ahead of you. Not behind.” Dae Hyun’s voice low and menacing.

No matter who it was, there was nothing he hated more than those who did not value in the now.

Those who does not treasure the time that they have with important people around them.

He thought that it was self explanatory from someone who had lost all her family members. That she should be treasuring the present with what she had left.

Letting go of her, he put his mask back on and left the room.

Releasing a breath she didn’t know she was holding, *I always seem to get him mad…* she thought, hugging her knees to herself. *Is it that bad to remember the past clearly? Is it bad to hold on to the only thing that’s left of my family?*

Bathing and taking the usual routine after a fair amount of time had passed, Yoon Mi left her room to look for another room in the house. One that she had forgotten about until now.

Opening the door with a rusty creak, the room was open and spacious. Lined up with cupboards, easel, paints, brushes, palettes, oil pastels and paper on one side.

Setting up an easel and a canvas; Yoon Mi took the things she needed and hesitantly set the brush to the canvas. With each passing , her techniques came back to her.

Thankful that the months of not drawing or painting had done any damage on her, Yoon Mi painted for hours on. Using up numerous canvas and different kinds of paper.

-

“There you are” A voice came from the doorway.

Not moving or turning to see who the voice belonged to. Yoon Mi simply stared at what her hands had created.

"We've been looking for you" He said as he walked in.

Seeing the girl who was surrounded by paintings and drawings, he went over to her who remained motionless, staring at the painting of the scenery.

Her hands were still on her lap but shaking from the abuse of having to paint and draw so much within the past six to ten hours.

“Enough” He said gently, taking away the palette and brush that she held in her hands. “You need to take a break.”

While her gaze remained on the floor “No…” She shook her head, causing heavy tears to stream down. “N-no...I-I…”

“Shh” He shushed, kneeling down to get to her level. Looking into her eyes “it’s okay” he whispered, gently her head. “Everything is going to be fine”

Shaking her head again “I-I feel li-like I’ll lose h-him forever i-if” she said in between sobs, placing her hands on him to steady herself.

“Shh…” He said, moving her arms to go around his neck. Easing her to rest against him. “You need to rest Yoon Mi. Forcing yourself won’t help you now.” He said soothingly, her hair easing her to sleep.

After awhile, noticing that her breathing became slower and more regular, he proceeded to lift her from the stool.

Walking towards the door, a flash of blonde whizzed past the door which screeched to a stop a few seconds later and the footsteps pounded back.

“Wow” Zelo stumbled to a stop by the door, taking in all the things that Yoon Mi had done. After his eyes were done wandering the place, he saw his hyung with Yoon Mi in his arms. “Hyung, you fou–” Zelo stopped in mid-sentence as he saw his hyung mouthed him to be quiet.

Nodding in understanding, Zelo kept quiet and waited for the rest of the guys to show up.

Anneyonghaseyo~

This is quite a sad chapter isn't it?

But I couldn't help but add a hint of cuteness with our maknae Zelo into the chapter. Along with the gentle moment with whoever HE was.

Can you guess which Hyung it is?

Haha~ BECAUSE Zelo is the youngest!!!

It could be anyone!

Cause he technically has to call everyone Hyuuuunngg~ *Remembers B.A.P Diary where cute Zelo sings the hyung song XD*

I won't post the next chapter until I see guesses on who it could be XP

Hee Hee, I'm mean aren't I :D

Come on and make some guesses~ Chapter 20 is already written and is depending on you to see the virtual light of day~

with lots of love,

Violynn :P
