Request #2. Hirin12 - (Kim Woo Bin/ OC) 150929 - 151017 (beta-read by purplewallflwer)

Scenerio: Woobin meets his first love after not seeing her for long. But why does he act cold towards her? Does it mean he doesn't love her anymore? Let's find out why~~

Your request was: Park Hee Yeon (OC) meets her first love from middle school, after tranfering to a new high school. Woo Bin have changed much since middle school due to family circumstances and Hee Yeon finds him difficult to deal with. Slowly they start to like each other again.

Kim Woobin, why did you change so much?

The thought remained even as you were searching for the school library on your first day transferring to Hirin high school. The high school was so extensive and large, it gave you a headache. Now you were stuck with a school map, how great. You knew your limits; you were bad at studies, you were clumsy at times and you were slow minded. You took a long time just to find the books you needed for the next class. Wearing casual clothes to school already made you feel left out, and now you couldn’t even find the library!

It was when the bell rang did you find the destination, but even then you were definitely late. You rushed inside and peeked at the library, there was no one in your sight of view, except for the book keeper. You bowed to her and saw her eyebrow raising from the corner of your eyes. You just smiled sheepishly and went in. The woman didn’t ask you anything, instead opted to stay quiet. You smiled for the lack of intrusion, hand lightly threading through the books in the shelfs. The library was bigger than your former high school’s.

You found the book you wanted but it happened to be placed in the top of the shelf. You pouted as you tiptoed. For a normal girl it wouldn’t be too hard but you were quite short (your friends gave you the nickname ‘mushroom’ for a reason) and you couldn’t even reach the tip of the book.

Footsteps were heard in the quiet library and you turned to your left. There a tall boy stood by. You grinned happily at the boy, waving at him so he could see you. You whispered carefully.

“Woobin! Help me here!”

You thought he would help you like he used to but you were wrong. He looked startled to see you at first but then his gaze turned cold. In a split second, he continued his walk to the opposite side.

“Hey! Kim woobin!” You whispered harshly. Woobin didn’t even look back until…

“I’ll tell the teacher that you bully the transfer student!” You thought it was in vain, but to your surprise, Woobin turned around and went straight to you-or the book to be exact- before reaching it effortlessly with his amazing height. He handed the book to you but avoided your eyes.

“Woobin! Don’t you remember me? We were…” you spoke breathlessly, before promptly shutting up when he sent you a dead glare. You never thought he was this scary. He left without saying anything.

“Lovers.”

To say that you were lovers was right, technically. You were so happy together and you were so sure it was love. Although you haven't kissed, you knew he felt the same as you at that time. You were so sad when your mother had to work overseas and brought you along with her, forcing you to leave Woobin behind. But in the third year of high school, her work was all done and since then you moved back to Korea, in Hirin town where you used to live, sure that Woobin was still there. At least you were right about that part.

You haven't received any recent news about him nor his family. You were curious and wanting to ask, but Woobin didn't seem like he would please you with answers. You were eager to find out why he suddenly changed his attitude to you in such an extreme manner. You needed to know the reason why. You knew you to ask someone.

When you got home, your mother was busy with her cookbook. She was always so hardworking in everything she did and you always felt proud whenever you saw her working, no matter if it's concerning works of other stuff.

"I'm home."

"Oh, honey. How is school?"

"It was okay. I made friends with some of the girls. And you know what, mom? I am in the same class as Woobin!" You sounded so excited that Mrs. Park chuckled.

"Talking about Woobin, he lives nearby too. I prepared lunch, let's eat."

"Maybe I should visit his house sometimes. I haven't had a chance to do so," You nodded at your own words, nonetheless sitting down and started eating the delicious lunch your mom prepared for you.

You were at the Kims' front gate. The house looked huge and elegant. You smiled when there was a voice asking through the bell.

"Hello? Who is there?" A voice you heard long ago now appeared like it was just yesterday.

"Mr. Kim! I'm Yeonhee! Park Yeonhee! Is Woobin home?"

"Ah... no dear. He's out with his friends." The voice came a bit late, slow and hesitant. Strange, you knew Mr. Kim pretty well. He wouldn't be sounding like that if there was nothing to hide. But you let it pass, because he might be busy at the moment. He was working at the same company as your mother so you knew how hard they had to work.

"Please come here and hang around with me and my son anytime later, Yeonhee. It has been a long time I haven't met you, dear." The man continued.

"Yes, Mr. Kim, thank you very much for informing me!" You replied happily. The man was so polite and gentle. You smiled at yourself, but wait...

"Ah! Mr. Kim! You said I could hang around with your family right? So why didn't you mention about Mrs. Kim?"

"Um... dear, I'm very sad to tell you that me and Mrs. Kim got divorced last month. Our relationship got complicated, and somehow we fell out of love". The voice came out quietly. Your eyes widened in disbelief. So that's the reason why Woobin turned out to be that cold? You knew Woobin really loved his mom, but why didn't he come to live with his mother? You were about to let out the question, but somehow you didn't feel like disturbing Mr. Kim anymore.

“She got married to another man.” Mr. Kim continued as to break the silence. Your eyes turned even bigger, if that’s even possible. Poor Mr. Kim, he must have been having a hard time.

"I'm sorry to hear about it, I have to go home now. See you, Mr. Kim!"

You found yourself stuck in the middle of a mathematics question. It was a normal occurrence after all. You hated to admit that you were bad at math or any other natural science subject. But the fact cannot be denied. At times like this, there was only one person who was able to help you out. But now he wasn't with you anymore, and you couldn't even approach him as easily as you used to.

Woobin was done with his own set of questions and he was folding origami as always. Midway of finishing what seemingly like a bunny origimi, he suddenly stopped and looked up to meet your eyes. Panicked, you snapped your head rapidly and could hear some bones cracking.

"What's wrong, Heeyeon-ssi? You seem to not pay attention to my class? New students aren't exception you understand?" The teacher raised his brows at you. He looked stern. You lowered your gaze.

"Y-Yes, teacher, I'm doing it now." You said, trying to stay calm but you knew you could never solve the mathematics problems without Woobin's help.

"Teacher, may Woobin-ssi help me out with my math? Since he sits nearby and he's good at the subject..." You lowered down your voice when you caught Woobin's dead glare. You only realized the weight of the situation in hand when all eyes were on you.

The teacher approved of the request without as much as blinking, but Woobin didn't take it as easy.

"Why can't you solve this question? It's the simplest!" Woobin complained again. He had been tutoring you for one hour long and you just managed to solve two questions. You somehow feel sillier because your feelings for Woobin was creeping up again after two years not keeping in touch. Your heart was clenching, in a good way. You were sitting so close to him, his hand touching yours as he guided you to answer the questions one by one with a pen. You were so happy to be so close to him and inhale his masculine scent. His room still remained the same as it always was and it felt so familiar, like you never left.

"Hey, wake up idiot. Why is your face so blank? Why are you always being this way?" Woobin scolded you in a slightly harsher tone, breaking your train of thoughts. Your lips curled up in a thin line but you still flashed a smile at him.

“Until now you don’t know what I think about you?” You asked him sincerely and looked directly to his widen eyes. You felt kind of disappointed because you thought he was feeling the same all this time. So their relationship was just one-sided?

A very awkward silent took over. Both of you stared at each other for a while, his face turning pink for a brief moment before he shook his head and got back to the homework.

"So in conclusion, you can't use this formula, alright? You should use this..." He made circles around the formula you needed to use, then he looked at you for confirmation, looking handsome and wise at the same time. You could feel your heart thumping irregularly in your chest but you paid no mind to that. You nodded repeatedly and got back to the notebook.

It was 5PM when you finally solved all the homework. With Woobin's help, you could actually understand more. When you close your book and was about to say goodbye to Woobin, you noticed he was already sleeping. He was still sitting with his hand under his chin, his eyes closed. You chuckled quietly, not expecting you got the chance to see him like that again after years.

You stayed for a bit longer to watch him sleep, but you got kind of sleepy too, and without realizing, you fell asleep on the table.

You got up when someone patted your shoulder. Opening your eyes blearily, you noticed it was Woobin. You yawned and took a look around, glancing at the clock...

"It's eight already, why didn't you wake me up?" Woobin knocked your forehead for that.

"Stupid, how could I wake you up when I was sleeping too." Ah, right, you were the one at fault for falling asleep afterwards.

"Hey Woobin, I have something to ask." You started to feel nervous.

"What?"

"About your mother, I know you were close with her more than with your dad, but please don’t be mad at your mom…" Woobin cut your sentence half way with a harsh whisper.

"It's not your business." Woobin said, he looked annoyed and avoided your gaze.

"I know you are always stubborn, but listen to me. Woobin, it’s her choice, you can’t make her do whatever you want her to."

"Can you keep your opinions to yourself?" Woobin faced the other side completely, refusing to even see your face.

“Think about it, Woobin ah, your mom would have been sad because you didn’t approve of the marriage, so call your mom sometimes.” You sounded like you were commanding him, but you were just advising for a good cause. He didn’t bother to cut you off anymore, so you took it as a sign he listened to what you said. You smiled at him when he turned back, his face less tense than before. He always listened to you because somehow your advises helped him in many situations. You understood him the most after his mom.

The exam finally came to an end, and today the result would show up on the school announcement board. You needed to get high mark so that Woobin would continue to help you as he warned you that if you didn’t place  in the top 50, he wouldn’t bother to help you anymore. That was his only condition after your pleas of begging him to continue tutoring you.

When you arrived to the board, you couldn't even saw the top lines of the paper. You winced in pain when someone stepped on your foot. The boy probably didn’t see you because he was as tall as Woobin. You soon got pushed to the inner of the crowd. People pushing and stepping on your foot from all directions, but you held it in. You didn't want to cause a ruckus here.

Suddenly there was a hand grasping yours and pulled you out of the crowd. The familiar scent and rough palm instantly made you smile in happiness. Woobin wiped your tears as his eyes focused on your face. You felt safe and protected. You smiled brightly even though you knew you looked like an actual idiot.

“What the hell, Yeonhee? You cried?” Woobin sounded worried. Without releasing his hold on your hand, he turned his gaze to the board, eyes searching from the header to the footer of the paper. He sighed and turned to face you again, his face looking apologetic.

“Don’t cry on little things like this. It makes you look like a little kid. You are not one anymore.” You widen your eyes, instantly knowing you received an unwanted result. This time you felt your eyes watering rapidly and the tears started to stream down your cheeks. In no time at all, you were full on sobbing.

“H-hey!” Woobin quickly pulled you out of the school yard and to the lawn.

He guided you to sit down. You sat on the grass, your head dipping low and your hands trying to hide the mess that was your face.

“Alright, I’ll tutor you okay? What’s the big deal? You can always ask for someone else’s help!” His voice was harsh but reassuring; and you stopped sobbing.

“You're the only one that can help me. I don't want to let anyone else know how stupid I really am." You whined, not noticing the smirk creeping on Woobin's face.

"No big deal. Just... don't cry, okay?" Woobin wiped your tears again, his hands were rough yet so gentle at the same time. He chuckled after awhile.

"Placed 51st huh, pretty much an adversity huh". You laughed along with him. You were a bit surprised of the result. You were happy enough to be placed #51. It's the highest position you have ever ranked so far. But it was ridiculous because you were basically just one rank below target. So close yet so far.

"I didn't cry because of the result though. I was too short to even see the rankings." You spoke out, chuckling a bit.

"Yeah? So why did you cry?"

"My feet..." The forgotten pain from before creeped up again and you found yourself whining and made a pained expressions as if you wanted to gain his sympathy.

He sighed but couldn't help but to let out a little laugh. He then carefully held your face with his hands.

"Don't cry okay? You want some candies?" Woobin stood up and was about to leave, but you grabbed his pants with a pout on your face. You were not originally this immature, but with Woobin you could be unexpectedly childish.

"Please don't leave." You must have looked like a lost puppy, but Woobin didn't seem to mind that.

"Alright. Let's stay here for a bit longer, class is in 5 minutes."

As you two settled on your seats, you started to remember about the talk last week.

"How is your mom doing? Don't tell me you still haven't called her?"

"I forgot to tell you, I've called her and she accepted my apology. She also apologized to me too. I never expected that would happen after two years of no contact. She was still the same. It's all thanks to you, Yeonhee." He continued. You smiled and opened your mouth to say something to him, but he cut you off again.

"I have been ignorant ever since you left me. I felt so empty and lonely because the only one I was closest to wasn't there for me in the hardest period of my life. I was selfish, and I didn't even tell you so you didn't know a thing. I was acting like a jerk and treated you as if it was your fault but it was not. I'm sorry, Yeonhee." Woobin explained in a calm tone, and that was the longest he had ever talked to you.

"I'm sorry, Woobin ah, I only have my mom with me. My dad passed away so we had to stick together time to time. I couldn't stay with you."

"It's okay, I understand you now."

Now you were hearing someone talking about the prom. This school was a bit luxurious, thus proms were held every one month for students to enjoy the school's cultures and such. But finding a partner was hard for you. You didn't enjoy anyone else's company besides Woobin, but he didn't seem to like you back.

"Woobin, who will be your partner for the upcoming school prom?" You asked with a sliver of hope he would say 'no one'. But that didn't seem to be the case.

"About that, I've picked Minah up." Woobin answered, his eyes watching you carefully.

"Ah.. I understand." You said, trying hard to hide your disappointment. Your heart deflated a bit. Woobin seemed to know what was in your mind.

"What is it? Are you jealous?" He said in a joking manner.

"Yes! I mean... no... I mean..." You murmured, stuttering every so often as you avoided his gaze.

The next thing you know, Woobin hugged you in his arms and murmured something to your ears.  You thought you might have heard wrong, but you believed it wasn't a dream.

"I picked up the queenka of the school after my true queenka showed up."

Chapter 62: * screaming intensifies * this was just so GOOD!!!! I loved it so much. I was giggling and laughing so much >_<
you really managed to write the characters properly. (like they didn't felt OOC as you feared) and I guess you did some reasearch on them as well with the dorm and MC thingy xD
Also, are you an NCTzen? Because of Mark + Haechan's real names being the gays in the drama xD That made it funny as well.
And I love the fact that the open secret is that Minho is gay. I mean.... that guy really is a CONFIDENT GAY. We stan.
You really portrayed Hyunjin's feelings and struggle so well and like, when Minho was worried and asked "so you just dislike me", I was like: oh no my boo, my poor heart.
But all in all this was so cute and I just loved it soooooo much. I really need you to write more Hyunjin x Lee Know hue hue hue
Thanks very much for writing this and not giving up halfways xD Hopefully you open your requests someday again!

And don't worry you can convert the story, I don't mind it! :)
