“Let’s give Ms. Park a round of applause.”  And I slumped back down onto my seat with my palms all sweaty and my copy of the book Snow White and the Huntsman nearly slipping out of my hands. Today I was just forced to read the part where they introduce a new character in the story; the huntsman.

It wouldn’t have been okay. I would have been fine with reading the story if I was normal and I didn’t have to worry about making characters come to life. It seemed as if my room had some sort of magic portal where characters from stories I read out loud pass through.

People always thought I was just extremely shy when it came to things like this but little did they know that I was just trying to not repeat the mistake of bringing something to life again. It’s not that easy to convince something—someone—That they came from a story book and that they’re now in the real world.

“Class dismissed.” Ms. Choi smiled and left the room. Thank God this day is over and I can just rush home and keep the huntsman from making my mother and brother from freaking out. Oh I haven’t told you? No one knows about this except Taehyung, my best friend.

I took my backpack and shoved everything into my bag. “Let’s go,” Taehyung chirped in front of me as he held his hand out to me. “This is bad,” I sighed and placed my hand in his. “I know,” He chuckled and led the way out of the building. “What are you gonna do?” He asked without sparing me a glance. “I don’t know,” I shrugged as I tried to think of the real huntsman coming to life.

“He seems pretty scary,” Taehyung said making me all nervous and scared. “Stop it you aren’t helping!” I hit him on the arm a little then went back to my plans. One of the reasons I hate bringing them to life is that they always end up in my room in the middle of the night without any—You got that right—clothes on.

“Can you lend me one of your shirts and shorts for tonight?” I turned to Taehyung who was rubbing his arm where I hit him just a few seconds ago. “Alright,” He said. Since his house was just two houses away from mine he decided that he’d come to my house later this afternoon with the shirt and shorts.

“Thank you so much!” I said before waving goodbye to him as he walked back to the direction of his house. Now there’s only one thing left to do: Wait for the huntsman to arrive.
