“Park Jimin,” Ms. Song called out then scanned over the list on her clipboard then looked up to search the room; interrupting me from my little chat with Taehyung about what we were going to have for lunch. “Jung Hana,” then she settled her clipboard into the drawer of the teachers table as we both stood up from our desks and made our way towards her. “I want both of you to head to the library and pick out twenty copies of this,” She handed me a hardbound book which looked three inches thick and it made me cringe. “And bring them back here for the class to use next meeting.” She smiled then went back to correcting our quizzes.
Hana groaned a little as she took the book from my hands and scanned its cover. “This is the punishment for the both of you as you were interrupting my class last meeting with your obnoxious laughter.” Ms. Song smirked as she pushed her glasses up from the bridge of her nose. “Get going now. You only have an hour to find all twenty copies.” She flicked her hand in the air then turned back to her paperwork.
We quietly exited the classroom, making sure to shut the door behind us then advanced into the empty hallways. “I swear Ms. Song hates me.” I sighed as I tossed the book in the air then caught it. “She wants us to bring back twenty freakin’ copies of this three-inched, Jurassic and not to mention boring book back to the classroom in an hour.” Unbelievable. I mean, I’m fine doing something else as my punishment just don’t let me look for stupid books. “Have you read the book?” She asked without even turning to me. “Uh,” I twiddled with my necktie then turned away. “No, I haven’t” I mumbled then hugged the book close to my chest as I felt the heat starting to rise up to my cheeks.
“I bet she went to the library earlier and scattered the copies throughout the whole library. Knowing Ms. Song, when she says it’s a punishment it’s going to be legit and hard.” She chuckled sadly then looked down at the floor. Just thinking of how long we’re going to spend in the library to look for the same book made me shiver.
I pushed the glass door open and let her walk in before I did and I was immediately greeted by that irritating stench of books. I hate the smell of new books mixed with the disgusting smell of the old books. “At least we get to skip class.” She mumbled then went straight into the right wing of the library. “So, what’s our plan?” I asked her, expecting for some sort of game plan that would make this job faster. “Plan?” She turned to me with an eyebrow raised. “Yeah,” I nodded as I scanned through the many books neatly placed on the millions of shelves. “Do we split up or just go together?”
“Ma’am do you know where we can find copies of this book?” I asked as I placed the book on her table and she read its title then looked up with her pencil tapping on her chin. “I’m sure I saw a couple of those over there when I was fixing the books a while ago.” She pointed at the glass room. “Thank you,” I said then took the book and went back to Hana.
“M—Maybe we should split up.” She answered almost too quickly and she bit her lip then turned around. “I think it’ll be easier if we scan each shelf together. That way you can start from that side,” I pointed to the far left side of the shelf then turned around. “And I’ll start over there,” I pointed to the far right side then faced her once again. “Then, we’ll meet up in the mid
