Dear diary,
This day was rather an eventful one. Jin asked me out. Well, he asked to meet up at that coffee shop we used to go to in freshman year. I honestly can’t wait and my heart is pounding in my chest. I hope everything turns out well because I’ve waited so long for this and I’d do anything for it to finally come true. Tonight is the night.
Youjin
“Mom, I’m going out.” I practically ran down the stairs; excitement rushing in my veins. I didn’t even spare her a glance as I made my way to my shoes and tucked my feet in them. I guess it’s normal for a teenage girl to be all warm and giddy at the fact that her crush just asked to meet up. “Be back before ten,” Mom called as I heard the soft sizzle of the smoking dinner from the kitchen. “I will,” I nodded even though I knew she couldn’t see me and dashed out the front door.
Jin had just called me this morning, a Saturday, and asked if I was available which I said yes to and he quickly asked if I could come meet him at the coffee shop at six in the evening. My breath hitched as the last word rolled off his tongue. It seemed as if I was in a dream that heaven made only for me to enjoy until he cleared his throat and asked if I was still there then I gripped onto the hem of my shirt and choked out a quiet ‘sure’ and hung up.
I know it’s kind of rude and mean to say this but I’ve heard that Jin and his y girlfriend finally broke up after episodes of yelling in the hallways and silent sobbing in the bathroom stall and I can’t be any happier. It just seems so unfair that she, a spoiled brat who only cares about herself, gets to have his heart when I was the one who was there by his side ever since before high school and before puberty hit him like a tank and became popular.
Suddenly, my phone started vibrating like crazy (like my heart) inside my coat pocket and a shiver ran up my spine as a selca of Jin popped up from my screen. He insisted that he would take a picture of himself for his contact in my phone and I objected but I was secretly thankful that he insisted because that way I have a picture that Haemi (his ex-girflriend) hasn’t seen.
I swiped my screen and pushed the phone against my ear. “Hello?” His voice echoed through the line and I fisted my hand against my mouth as I tried to hide the smile that quickly formed. “I’m on my way,” I said and looked right and left before crossed the street. “I’m actually just five minutes away. Are you already there?” I asked and quickened my pace a little as a sudden urgency rushed through me. “I am,” He sighed quietly and I’m late. “But it’s fine, you don’t have to hurry. I just arrived anyway.” I could hear how his mood changes through his voice.
I laughed a little and hung up then tucked my phone back into my pocket. I could see the bright signage of the coffee shop illuminating the dark as people huddled together walked down the sidewalk as they enjoyed the end of November breeze which set a good start to the Christmas season—My favourite season.
Brushing off the snow from the soles of my boots onto the maroon carpet, I scanned the place for that face I’ve been expecting all day. My heart skipped a beat when my eyes scanned over that familiar mop of dark locks that was quickly hidden from my view as he put on a gray beanie over his head.
“Hey,” I chuckled as I slipped into the seat next to him. He looked up from his coffee then smiled with his eyes turning into cute lit
