"What if they don't like me?" I sighed for the tenth time this morning and rubbed a hand over my face. Today is the day that I'll be meeting Jungkook's family and to be honest I don't know what to expect. I've been worrying about it since last night and if it wasn't for Jungkook I wouldn't have been able to get any sleep. "Minji, they'll love you. Trust me." He chuckled and plopped down on the bean bag. “Now go get ready or we’ll be late.” He rested his head on his hands and smiled at me.

I jumped up and made my way to collect my clothes and towel. “The frustration!” I groaned while tucking my underwear underneath the folded shirt. I’d be horrified if I dropped that on the way to the bathroom. “You have nothing to worry about.” Right when I was about to turn around two arms s their way around my waist and pulled me into a tight hug.

“Okay?” Jungkook whispered into my ear and planted a light kiss on my cheek. He tucked my hair behind my ear and kissed my cheek again. “Stop worrying.” He mumbled and rested his chin on my shoulder. “I’m just really scared.” I admitted and held onto his hands and pried his arms open and faced him. “I can’t mess this up.”  

“You won’t mess it up. You’ll do fine.” He smiled and hugged me tight. “Alright, I’m going to go get ready. You can let go now.” I chuckled and pushed him a little. “Stop worrying, okay?” He smiled and pushed me towards the door. “Yeah, you better get ready they’ll be here in two hours.”

“JungJung hurry up, please!” I banged on the bathroom door. I knew he should have went in before me since he takes forever and his family is about to arrive in ten minutes and I don’t want to be the one who opens the door because the word ‘awkward’ will be written in red on my face.

When he didn’t answer I grumbled and went back into the room and paced back and forth. My hands are visibly shaking and my knees feel like they’re going to give up on me. I feel like there’s a giant bubble that continues to grow larger every second inside my body and my heart is banging like crazy in my chest.

Minji, you have to do this. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this.

The doorbell echoed through the whole house and it’s like my lungs forgot that they had an important job to do and my heartbeat doubled, no, tripled, no, it’s about to explode.

I can’t do this

“Minji! You open the door I’m all wet!” Jungkook yelled from the bathroom. This is exactly why I told him to hurry up ten minutes ago. I quickly sprinted out the room and knocked on the bathroom door. “Wish me luck.” I said and walked down the stairs feeling like my heart is going to explode in my chest.

The doorbell rang again leaving its sound lingering in my ears. I held onto the cold doorknob and took in a deep breath. “Let’s do this.” I whispered to myself. I twisted the doorknob and opened the door revealing a woman just a few inches taller than me and next to her is a man who towered over the two of us just like Jungkook.

“Ah! You must be Lee Minji!” Mrs. Jeon smiled brightly and pulled me in for a hug. “It’s nice to finally meet you!” She squeals and tightens her grip around me. “Honey, I think you’re squeezing the life out of her.” Mr. Jeon laughed and gently pulled her off of me. “Sorry.” He showed off his smile which was just like Jungkook’s.

“Come in, come in.” I smiled and bowed as a sign of respect and shut the door behind them. I quietly cheered myself for keeping myself so calm and natural without Jungkook having to do it for me. I followed Mr. and Mrs. Jeon into the living room and sat across from them on the couch.

“I’m so glad you were able to find time to come and spend the day with us despite your busy schedules.” I smiled and tried to hide my thumbs because I knew I had this habit of twiddling them when I’m nervous. “Of course we’d spend the day with our son’s future wife.” Mrs. Jeon piped up which caught me off guard. I opened my mouth a few times trying to figure out what to say.

“Omma, I think it’s too early to say that.” Jungkook walked into the room with a towel hanging on his shoulders. “Jungkook!” His parents yelled and hugged him. “I missed you too.” Jungkook laughed as he wr
