Kyuhyun was crying.

He was crying like he had never before.

His heart was in pain.

That delicate little organ was in too much pain he could possibly describe.

There; in front of him on the white hospital bed, the love of his life was unconscious whose both the arms were bandaged and rested on the sides of that delicate body while the left leg was dangling due to being attached to the upper post of the bed in a sling. The once clear and beautiful face was now tainted with purplish marks covering almost the whole of the face.

Sungmin…

Kyuhyun felt like his heart was being squeezed by a tight grip of some invisible hand upon the sight.

His breathing was hitched as he continued crying in silence while being sitting on that same chair near the patient’s bed he had been on since the past two hours now.

He was currently alone in the room with Sungmin still unconsciously resting on the bed. Nari and Shindong were in another room of the same ward where Donghae was admitted. And no one needs to point out that Hyukjae was in the same room with his own lover as well.

Oh boy, that surgeon was the mirror image of what Kyuhyun was at the moment, if not worse.

I was on my way to my house after getting done with the day at the hospital and it was around six-fifteen in the evening when an unknown number started flashing on my cellphone that was standing on the cellphone handler. I clicked the answer button on the advanced steering wheel and waited for the caller to speak.

“Hello? Is this Kyuhyun-ah?” the voice resonated through the speakers and strangely, it felt kind of familiar.

“Doctor Cho Kyuhyun speaking. Who am I speaking to?”

I could hear the caller sigh from the other end of the phone. “This is Nari, Donghae’s mother.” Somehow, I tensed up. After all, she is like what one could consider Sungmin’s mother figure.

“How are you Nari-ssi?” I could feel the nervousness in my voice.

“Don’t worry about the formalities. What I’m going to tell you is very important.” She paused and I couldn’t help but get curious. “And don’t worry; I got your number from Hyukjae after Donghae informed me about Siwon’s address.” That last name in the conversation spiked up my curiosity even more. What has Siwon’s address got to do with her calling me?

“I’m listening.” is all I said.

“Sungminnie and Hae have not returned back from Siwon’s house yet and it’s been more than two hours now. I had a talk with Sungminnie at around six and he had said that he’d be leaving right after but I’m somehow scared and I’m not sure why do I feel this way. It’s been quite some time since I had that talk and they haven’t contacted me since then.” The information was sinking into my mind quickly. Why did Sungmin go to that bastard’s place to begin with? “Please, go and get them. I know it might seem weird as to why am I asking you to do the work when I can do that myself or force Donggie, but consider this as a favour from me to you.” Her last sentence caught me off guard despite her voice being frantic about the situation in hand.

“E-excuse me?”

“I know you are in love with our Sungminnie.”

And the air conditioning in the car might have gone bad because that could be the only explanation of why I’m sweating now.

“But worry not. I’m on your side.” And I’ve definitely gone crazy with that sentence of hers. “And I’ll do almost anything to get you two together.” Officially gone crazy…

I’m talking about myself.

She disconnected the call after telling me that she’d text me the address Donghae had texted her before going to Siwon’s place and by the time I was nearing the address, I noticed two injured figures approaching the sidewalk of the road.

That blonde hair and those now bruised but still beautifully sculpted m-shaped lips…

I could identify them even in the dark.

I could literally feel my heart leap out of my chest as I saw a completely messed up and broken Sungmin trying his hardest to balance an unconscious Donghae on his right.

It happened so quickly yet it felt like it happened in slow motion as I hurriedly got off my car after halting it and ran to Sungmin’s side to prevent him from falling. He looked at me with hazy eyes and soon lost consciousness in my arms as I held him tightly.

One would first take care of Donghae seeing that he was the most injured one out of the two but consider me selfish; I gave my priority to Sungmin.

I made Donghae lay down on the pavement, quickly gathered Sungmin in both my arms and ran to the passenger seat’s door next to the driver’s seat. After carefully securing his unconscious body on the seat with the belt and bending the seat a little backward so he could be in a sleeping position, I opened the backseat’s door and ran to Donghae to help him out. Doing the same to him as I did to Sungmin, I immediately made my way to SNU hospital.

It was all hazy to me how I ran the car over the speed limit, broke the traffic rules, finally arrived at my destination and picked Sungmin in my arms yet again and ran inside the huge building while screaming profanities and calls for help. Maybe it was shear dumb luck but Doctor Lee Soo Man was just about to leave the premises when I barged into the hospital like a maniac with a bleeding body secured tightly in my arms in a bridal way.

He hurried to me and when he realized it was Sungmin in my arms, he quickly called the ward boys and other emergency staff to help me out. When I saw the emergency staff take Sungmin away from my hold and put him on a stretcher, that’s when I remembered I had one more victim of violence in my car. I informed them about Donghae as well and they quickly provided him the required aid as well.

Doctor Lee was the one who had informed Donghae’s parents about the whole ordeal and no sooner, they rushed to the hospital with Hyukjae tailing behind them.

Nari-ssi was a crying mess and Hyukjae is originally an emotional cry-baby so maybe them both crying slightly affected me too because Doctor Lee; who had been sitting next to me on the bench outs
