Siwon’s breath was caught in his throat the very moment he saw Sungmin walking into the cafeteria with the now blonde hair as he followed his preceptor from behind.

He was so caught off guard as he noticed those blonde fringes falling on Sungmin’s eyes that he had forgotten about confronting Kyuhyun to do what he had decided to do during the weekend.

Sungmin looked very conscious of his surroundings as he went to the food counter and this hadn’t gone without being seen by the both; Kyuhyun and Siwon.

“Sit with me today. I have to explain the calculations for the TPN preparations to you.” Kyuhyun said to his intern; who was still busy selecting what to eat, before he carried his tray of two club sandwiches and a cup of hot Americano.

Despite being ill at ease around his preceptor, Sungmin nodded in approval nevertheless.

There Kyuhyun left to go to a vacant table and here Donghae stunned Sungmin by running towards him and engulfing him into a firm embrace.

And three very jealous males clenched their fists tightly. I don’t need to point out who they are, right? Though Siwon and Kyuhyun had a legit reason to get jealous of Donghae, it was totally self-indulgent of Hyukjae to get jealous of Sungmin for being hugged and given attention by Donghae.

“Why does he give all his attention to his best friend and spare me none at all?!” he was whining to Kyuhyun as he took a seat next to Kyuhyun.

“Umm…Because you are basically too lame and a waste of time? Oh! How about trying annoyingly clingy and beaten like a dog around that ball of hyperactive energy called Donghae?” Kyuhyun sarcastically remarked back as he struggled to slice his club sandwich due to distractions around.

“Oh yeah, like you aren’t jealous of my ‘ball of hyperactive energy called Donghae’” he made those quoted apostrophe gestures through his two fingers on both hands, “as you quote, for being close to your serious crush.” Kyuhyun really did get a friend who could match his sarcasm well. I’m obviously talking about Hyukjae.

“But really, should I even be covetous of that brunette to begin with? He’s not really a threat to me.” Kyuhyun admitted. “He doesn’t even intimidate me as a rival.” he added. Sungmin was approaching their table along with the brunette who was the subject of their current discussion.

“Sorry, I got carried away with selecting my meal. And then the desserts were too tempting to not select any hence I ended up buying this chocolate mousse.” Donghae happily chirped and pointed at his bowl of mousse as he placed his tray on the table. Wait, why is he apologizing? “Oh! Hyukkie!” he happily exclaimed.

Kyuhyun chocked on the unexpected endearment and eyed his best friend who couldn’t control displaying his ugly —according to Kyuhyun— gummy smile and a deep shade of red on his cheeks.

“Since when did ‘Doctor Hyukjae’ turn into ‘Hyukkie’?” he sharply stomped on his best friend’s right foot from under the table.

“I…I don’t know either.” Hyukjae admitted. “But doesn’t it sound cute?” that ugly gummy grin —again, according to Kyuhyun— was back on Hyukjae’s even uglier — can’t he just stop calling him ugly?— face.

Sungmin had no other choice but to settle next to Kyuhyun as Donghae excitedly claimed the seat next to his Hyukkie.

Remember, Kyuhyun wanted to teach the calculations of the I.V. nutrients earlier hence he told Sungmin to sit next to him? It was nothing but an excuse to sit closer to the blonde.

And since Sungmin was sitting next to him, Kyuhyun’s normal club sandwich tasted even better than usual.

And the taste went bland when Siwon dragged a chair next to Sungmin, asking Donghae to scoot closer to Hyukjae —which made Hyukjae thank Siwon inwardly— and adjusted the chair next to Sungmin in much closer proximity and sat down.

“Sungmin-ah, you look really good with the new hair colour.” Siwon began and Kyuhyun couldn't help himself from turning his left hand’s knuckles wide as he clenched it into an extremely firm grip from under the table. He soon found himself eavesdropping at the two on his right hand side. He pretended to chew his sandwich nonchalantly, though if anyone were to have a microscope or a magnifying glass and observed his wide, curious auditory canals, they’d know that he was no way gulping that sandwich bite unflappably.
