Chapter 10
The one I lost my first kiss to...The young pharmacist was in his house; sitting on his posh cream and black slot sofa while stacks of papers were messily arranged on the coffee table. He was brooding on his idiocy which he finally realized yesterday.
Kyuhyun’s POV
! What have I done! How could I have misunderstood him? I didn’t even bother to ask him. All I did was make assumptions and treat him unfairly! ! ! !
How will I face him now? How will I look in his eyes?
I was heading to one of my patient’s ward when I saw my intern Choi Siwon and your cute intern hugging each other. Then, why did Hyukjae tell that? Wait,
Choi Siwon…
I quickly fished out the report summary I had prepared last evening —with so much guilt, if I may add— regarding the cancer patients and immediately went through it, searching for Sungmin’s mother’s case report amongst the many and looked at the name of the doctor attending her case. I’m sure that Choi Siwon’s name is very familiar. It has to be. The name wouldn’t click in my head for nothing.
Doctor Choi Kiho… the renowned gynaecological oncologist…
But, there might be a possibility of him not being the relative of that medical intern. I can’t assume anything on my own anymore.
No one’s POV
Kyuhyun quickly dug his right hand in his pyjama pant pocket—it was eight in the morning by the way— and extracted his cell phone which was brought back to him by the nurse upon his not-so-polite request. He couldn’t bring himself to enter the room after discovering his huge fault.
He dialled his best friend’s number with alacrity and anxiously waited for the other to Just answer the damn phone, you moron.
A very groggy voice was heard from the other side of the phone and the pharmacist assumed that his friend,
The bastard is sleeping peacefully after igniting fire within me.
“Hey jerk.” Hyukjae’s sleepy voice greeted him tiredly.
“Bastard, do you have any information regarding your intern?” Kyuhyun immediately asked.
“Who?” his friend’s sleepy voice asked confused.
“That Siwon.” the name made the pharmacist groan.
“Oh. I just know that he’s the son of one of the doctors, and a hottie; if I may add but that’s beside the point. Why? Are you planning to hit on him now?” he could detect teasing in the other male’s voice from the other end of the conversation.
“I wouldn’t hit on him but trust me, I feel like hitting you, literally.” The taller male growled.
“When do you not? Anyways, I have a hangover so let me sleep like a dead log.” and the line went dead soon after. Oh, if only he knew his best friend was so willing to kill him for good.
“Useless -face.” Kyuhyun growled on his phone.
Should I call Doctor Lee and inquire? He asked himself. It was still early in the morning after all.
His sleep can wait, but my conscience can’t. And he finally heard the caller tone of his mentor’s phone go on.
“Hello?” he heard the very clear voice of the elder.
“Good morning Doctor Lee.” Kyuhyun politely greeted the other man on the phone.
“Kyuhyun-ah, you called so early in the morning. Is it something urgent? I was about to go for a morning walk.”
“Umm... Doctor Lee, I was going through the cases of all the cancer patients on the fifth and sixth floors and I came across one with last stage cervical cancer. The report says that the patient isn’t undergoing any therapy since she has only a month or more left.” the image of Sungmin’s red, puffy eyes made him feel horrible from inside, “I wanted to talk to her doctor regarding this.” he smoothly lied. Well, it wasn’t really a lie but wasn’t the complete truth either.
“I know that patient. I am assisting Doctor Choi on that case. You can ask me the questions you want to know the answers of from Doctor Choi instead.” He suggested. But that wasn’t the reply Kyuhyun was looking for. And he didn’t hesitate to turn down the suggestion either.
“I want to talk to Doctor Choi directly, if you don’t mind.” he politely declined. “I was wondering if you could g
