Chapter 23
The one I lost my first kiss to...It was past midnight on Saturday —or is it Sunday since it was past midnight?— and Sungmin was peacefully asleep when Donghae shook him gently but continuously and woke him up. Sungmin stirred off his sleep groggily and walked off to the common washroom to do what Donghae had requested of him, without even registering the absurdity of the request from the other since he was too drowsy to cogitate.
Stepping in front of the washroom after unconsciously switching the light on, he mindlessly started washing his hair and soon enough, Donghae entered the lavatory and started shampooing Sungmin’s hair as the latter fell back to sleep in his standing position. Some skills Sungmin has…
The slightly cold water running down his face from the washing of his hair that now the brunette was doing for him caused Sungmin to wake up from his slumber for real and as he squinted his eyes on the mirror hanging above the basin, an extremely loud, eardrum bursting
“Aaa~” yeah, shrilling screech echoed throughout the house.
Did I tell you that Shindong tumbled off the bed, successfully kissing the floor in the process?
And did I tell you it was because Nari had kicked him off the bed on impulse on the impact of the shriek?
No? Now you know anyways.
“What happened to my hair?!” Sungmin was panicking as he examined his now blonde hair. Yes, Donghae had dyed Sungmin’s hair blonde.
“The dye looks good on you.” Donghae was admiring his work on Sungmin’s hair and mind you, his hands were clasped dreamily.
“Why did you dye my hair, Donghae?” Sungmin was on the verge of tears and as soon as he finished his question, Nari and Shindong appeared in the washroom with panic-stricken faces. Nari had been tightly clutching a big mopping stick in her palms by the way.
“Nari-ssi~ my hair.” Sungmin had started to bawl.
Nari softened at the sight and placed the mopping stick next to the door. She looked at Donghae’s smiling face and then at Sungmin’s watery eyes.
“Aigo, come here.” She said and took the now blonde in her embrace.
Shindong sat on the seat of the closed commode and fell back to sleep.
“Donghae-ah, why did you do this to Sungmin-ah?” she faked a stern tone.
“It’ll be easy to spot him in the hospital now.” Donghae beamed at his own explanation.
“Hmm. You heard that Sungmin-ah? And why are you upset? You look beautiful!” she exclaimed as she stretched her hands on his shoulders while stepping back to observe him better, examining his hair as she threaded his wet hair with her fingers. “Oh my God! You have to dry your hair or you’ll fall sick!” she added as she realized his hair was still wet.
“But I loved my original hair colour.” Sungmin’s lips were sticking out and forming curls up and down respectively. Pouts loved his m-shaped lips, alright!
Nari guided Sungmin out of the washroom as an awfully hyper Donghae followed them from behind. Seriously, why is he so hyper at two in the morning?
Shindong was left forgotten on the toilet seat however…
Nari made Sungmin sit on her plump seated black dressing table stool and started drying his hair after plugging the device into the socket.
She was internally celebrating her son’s work. For once, he did something worth his sugar. She loved the feeling of Sungmin letting go off the pain of losing the most important person in his life, by noticing distractions around him.
“Now off you go and sleep. We’ll have to visit a hair salon to fix your hair and see that this boy—” she pointed at her son who was busy jumping on his mother’s bed, “didn’t destroy any poor strand of hair on your head.” she happily commented as she turned off the dryer. “And stop moping. You really look beautiful!” she added as she pinched his chubby cheeks from behind him.
“But I don’t want to be called beautiful! I’m a guy! A male! I’m supposed to look handsome!” Donghae was giggling at his best friend’s tantrums as he paused his jumping.
“We can’t change anything now, can we?” Nari had that teasing grin. She lightly chuckled at Sungmin’s pouting face and hugged him once again.
“I want to join the hug too!” Donghae excitedly jumped off his mother’s bed and ran towards the two.
“Come, my five year old son.” She was laughing heartily and a very similar-to-zombie Shindong crawled —yes, literally crawled— into the room and managed to plop his body on the ruined mattress.
Nobody really minded him.
