Chapter 27
The one I lost my first kiss to...Flashback continues
Hyukjae was dumbfounded by the totally unexpected reaction the older lady gave.
“I’m so happy! Donggie~ our son is finally gay!” Nari dreamily clasped her hands and showed her beaming, crooked smile.
“But umma, I don’t know if I’m actually gay~.” Donghae started whining.
“But you kissed this handsome boy!” she exclaimed.
“Twice.” Shindong slowly added as he finally took a seat on the couch. He gave up on calming his wife down since he knew it was futile anyways.
“Yes, twice! You have to be gay!” and her excitement was getting quite scary.
Nari then turned around and caught Shindong’s arms—of course, she made him stand up from his comfortable seat— and started jumping up and down. “I can finally sleep in peace. You remember how very obsessed I was with gays back in college. I always wanted a gay son. My hard work of hiding in our baby’s room finally paid off!” both Donghae and Hyukjae’s mouths were wide open due to the shock. Yes, she had officially lost her senses.
“I never found any sort of in my room.” Donghae was shocked yet confused.
“That’s because I always removed them before you could find them by accident just next to your mouse pad. Nari was never subtle about hiding them…” Shindong’s face was worth watching. It was crumpled beyond belief as he recalled the numerous times he sneaked behind his wife to remove those C.Ds.
Nari didn’t really mind her husband’s confession since by this way or that; her son had turned gay at the end.
One weird mom…
After somehow calming the short and hyper lady down, everyone took the seats on their comfortable yellow and brown couch and Nari excitedly claimed the seat next to Hyukjae and made Donghae sit next to the surgeon as well on his other side.
She began slicing the cake happily.
“So Hyukkie, why were you crying after that successful surgery?” I don’t really need to point out who that was.
Hyukjae nervously looked at the members of the crazy Shin family. Somehow, the very warm and jolly welcome and reaction—though crazy indeed— made him feel even sadder about his own past yet gave him the confidence of opening up to these people.
“It was back when I was in my final year of college.” He began. “I remember I was twenty-two, four years ago. I had always known I was not straight but I decided to come out of the closet then.” He added.
The whole Shin family was intently listening. “It was right after graduation ceremony that I approached my parents. They were very proud of me, very happy.” His face had a small smile as he recalled that day. “They had wanted to take a family picture with me in my graduation cap and gown with the diploma roll in my hands. Sora noona had specially come from abroad to attend my big day.” He paused. “After the family picture was taken, I told my parents that I was, still am, gay.” Nari handed him a glass of water since he had unconsciously started crying.
Our erted, gay, surgeon was a softy at heart.
“Umma and appa didn’t say anything. They were too shocked to say anything. But they definitely left the venue, leaving me behind and dragging Sora noona along with them.” He took a sip of the cold water from the glass he was holding.
“I clearly remember that day. I was very scared to go back to my home. It was nearing evening when I finally stepped my foot into my house. I entered the main living hall and saw my luggage was packed and kept near the stairs. I was confused.” Nari seemed to grasp the situation.
“I reached for my suitcase when dad climbed down the stairs with another red suitcase of mine. I was just watching him climb down those huge and posh stairs. He flung my suitcase lightly and it landed just a little away from my feet.” It was like Hyukjae was reliving that day.
“Out. That was the only word he said and looked away from me. I saw umma and Sora noona enter the living hall. Umma had that pitiful look in her eyes and Sora noona’s eyes were red which I assume was due to crying. I could see umma did love me. But that usual tenderness in her eyes was gone.” Another block of saliva was gulped by him, making his Adam’s apple bob up and down, as he continued. He was crying.
“I don’t remember bringing up a . Appa spoke out of the blue and shifted my attention from the females of the house, to him. ‘Yeobo, he will change. He will become normal again. He will like girls again.’ Normal? My mom’s words were like a stab to my heart. She didn’t consider me normal. ‘I have always been gay, umma. I have never liked girls in the other way. I have never gotten attracted to them. I have always liked guys and found them attract—’ and she cut my words with a hard and echoing slap. That was the very first time she had hurt me in any way. And she didn’t realize she slapped my heart along as well. I felt appa’s strong and rough hands engulf my left arm with force and then found myself stagger to prevent myself from falling since he pushed me out of the house and threw my luggage out a
