Chapter 68- Church with the Perry's

Letters to U-kiss

Mary's POV

I decided to let Hana sleep in, even though I knew she wanted to go to church with the Perry's, because I know she'd be feeling not so good this morning. Kris and I had agreed last night that we would go to church to let the Perry's know what had happened, and I left a note for Hana so she wouldn't panic.

"Hey gorgeous!" said Kris smiling as he sauntered up to me as I waited in front of the cafeteria.

"Hi" I said smiling.

"How was Hana?" asked Kris.

"She was sound asleep when I took some breakfast food up for her, so hopefully she gets a good rest."

"Yeah, let's hope we don't see Matt today or I'm going to give him a piece of my mind."

"I hope not too- I don't want you to get in trouble."

"I'll be good, I promise!"

"You better Mr., shall we grab some breakfast?"

"Yes madam!"

We ate a quick breakfast together and then walked to the Perry's house. They were waiting out front when we got there.

"Hello, hello!" called Mrs. Perry as we approached.

"You must be Kris?"said said Mr. Perry as he extended his hand to shake Kris' hand.

"Yes sir, it's great to meet you both." he said as he shook Mrs. Perry's hand.

"Same here! Where's Hana?" asked Mrs. Perry peering around looking for her.

I looked at Kris, and he nodded at me to explain. "She had a bit of mishap last night."

"Oh no! What happened?" asked Mrs. Perry.

"Her ex-boyfriend was at a birthday celebration she went to, so he drugged her and her."

Mrs. Perry had covered her hand with before taking her hand away to speak. "Is she okay? Where is she? How is she now?"

"She was sore and a also little groggy from the drug he gave her last night, but she checked out okay at the hospital so far -we're waiting on test results to make sure he didn't give her anything form his discourtesful act yesterday. Hana was sleeping soundly when I left this morning, so I didn't want to wake her this morning."

"The poor dear, I'm glad she's okay so far, but if she needs absolutely anything have her let me know immediately." said Mrs. Perry.

"That goes for the both of us." said Mr. Perry.

"We really appreciate it and we'll let her know." said Kris.

"Are you two still planning on coming to church with us?" asked Mr. Perry.

"Yes, if you'd still like us to?" said Kris.

"Absolutely!" said Mrs. Perry.

"We told Hana that we'd come get her for lunch if she was feeling up to it, if that's okay?" I said asking Mrs. Perry.

"That's great, but I have a better idea -Let's bring lunch to her!" she said with a grin.

"Ooooooh that is a good idea!" I said hopping up and down.

"Ladies, we need to get moving or we'll miss the whole service." joked Mr. Perry as he and Kris stood smiling at us two. Me and Mrs. Perry laughed before linking arms and discussing our plans.

Kris' POV

I was so happy that Mary had agreed to still go to church with the Perry's without Hana. We had been studying the bible together a little bit, and it seemed like she was starting to understand some things better than she had. I still was learning myself, but I was understanding so much more with every day.

I had been excited to meet the Perry's too. It was hard not to be excited from the way the two chattered on about it the past few days. I wish Hana had been able to come, but we both thought it was in her best interest to rest.

Mr. and Mrs. Perry were exactly as described and she reminded me a little bit of an older version of Mary -she was bubbly, easily excited, hatching out scemes, and her style of dress, although age appropriate, was not lacking in color. I couldn't help, but smile at the two of them interacting with each other chattering over lunch plans.

"She's a nice girl." said Mr. Perry nudging my arm.

"Yeah, she is."

"I can tell that you care for her a lot."

"I do, I just wish I had realized that before I had played with her heart last year."

"It looks like you two are doing okay now though -right?"

"We're getting there."

"Mending things carefully takes time, especially when things were in shambles before."

"True, you speak like the voice of experience."

"In a way yes, but probably not exactly the same as you. A few years before we got married, I found out I had cancer. Me being a fool decided to try to spare her the pain of dealing with it, so I broke up with her and told her I never wanted to see her again. I'm pretty sure I shattered her heart -we had been best friends since we were kids and for me to tell her off was probably the cruelest thing I could have done."

"You obviously made ammends now though."

"That we did. I made my parents keep it a secret from their family, but one day she found out everything accidentally overhearing a phone call by mom with her relative. Her face when she came tearing into my hospital room was furious and I'm pretty sure she would have beaten me up if she hadn't started sobbing. Long story short we slowly made ammends, I got better, and we got married a couple years later, so God worked it all out in his time and not my time."

"Very true, I'm hoping God will work things out between us or help us move on if that's his will."

"That's a good attitude to have young man -that will help you out a lot through the years."

"Thank you sir, I'm still learning, but I've learned a lot just in the past 6 months alone."

"Ah, that's right. Hana had said you were newer to God's family."

"Yes, sir."

"Well, if you have any questions, I'll try to answer them the best that I can -you can drop the Sir too Kris, it's making me feel old! Call me Carl"

"Thank you Carl!" I smiled.

"You're welcome Kris. We're here!" he said announcing to mainly Mary and I, before we headed up the stairs into church.

"I wish Hana could have come today." Mary said.

"We all do, but hopefully next time -Lord willing of course." said Ellie leading the way behind Carl to some seats. I snuck a glance at Mary sitting down and I wondered what was going through her head. She seemed lost in thought -maybe worried about Hana mainly, but it was hard to tell at times with her. 'God, I hope this message will speak to Mary in a way that she can let go of whatever is holding her back from a relationship with you. Amen.'
