Norae's POV

No matter how hard I tried each time I saw Kevin after I made my decision to break up with him, I could never follow through. He'd do something or say something that made me feel just awful. Yet, at the same time I felt awful lying to him like this. 

I was hanging out with Kevin and the guys one evening and Kevin brought out his guitar.

"Who wants to sing?" he asked smiling.

"How about Norae and you do a duet?" said Soohyun smirking.

"No, I couldn't....." I said. 

"Come on, just one song and then you can be as quiet as a mouse." said Alexander

A chorus of yeahs errupted from the guys. 

"Fine, just one song. What do you want to sing Kevin?"

"It doesn't really matter. How about you can pick."

"How about Nagging by UI & Seulong?"

"Okay, are you sure you want that song?" he asked with a confused expression.

"Yeah, I like that song." I said firmly.

"Here goes nothing" he said starting to strum chords on the guitar in an upbeat rhythm.

Stop coming home so late.

All the guys clapped at our performance together. 

"Wow! You're amazing Norae!" gushed Kevin when we finished.

"Thank you." I replied.

"Say, you want to get into the music business too right?" he asked.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"I heard from someone that there's going to be a few scouts from different companies, including ours, at this club looking for some indie musicians and soloists. Do you want me to get you a spot?" he asked.

'Wow this could be my big break! OMO!' I thought excitedly "You would?"

"Of course! I'd do anything for you." he said smiling at me. 

"That would be amazing Kevin. Thank you so much!" I said grinning ear to ear. 'I can't wait to tell Jay about this when I get home!'

Later that evening.......

Ring Ring "Hey Songbird! What's up?"

"Nothing much!"

"You sound excited about something, want to share?"

"How did you know I was excited about something?"

"Your voice gets higher when you're excited."

"Oh" I said with a giggle.

"So, what's your news?"

"Kevin's getting me a spot to play at a club, that's going to have scouts from different companies there."

"Wow! That's fantastic! Were you hanging out with him again?"

"Yes" I said sheepishly

"When are you going to cut ties with him?"

"Soon, are you jealous?"

"Who wouldn't be?"

"I'm sorry! He's just a friend now. Don't worry, I only love you."

"I love you too. When's the big day going to be?"

"A week from next saturday."

"What time are you playing?"

"Around 9:30pm."

"Okay, I'll be there!"

"Really?! You'll come?"

"Of course! I wouldn't miss it for the world Songbird. I want to see you spread your wings and fly."

"Awwwww you're so sweet Jay."

"You're sweeter."

"What are your favorite flowers?"

"Hmmm.....Roses. Why?"

"No reason." he said innocently.

"I should go to bed now. I need to get up and then I'll be practicing in all my spare moments."

"If you need any help or coaching let me know."

"Thanks Jay! I will."

"Sweet dreams Songbird."

"You too. I love you."

"Love you too. Bye."

The Audition night........

Kevin texted me a bunch of times while I was waiting backstage and his last couple were.

'Are you nervous?' -he asked

'Not too bad.' -I replied

'Best wishes! If you sing like you did with the guys the other day, you'll do well!'

'Thank you. I need to go now.' -I told him.

'Okay, Hwaiting!!!!!^_^' -he replied 

I took a deep breath as the stage manager motioned that it was my turn. I headed out on to the stage 'This is it! The day I've been dreaming of.'

The audience cheered loudly when I finished my songs 'This is what I was born to do!' I thought smiling widely as I took a bow. Jay was waiting for me backstage -how he managed it I don't know, but I was so happy to see him.

"You did it Songbird!" He said handing me a bouquet of red roses. He caressed my cheek with his hand and then surprised me with a kiss.

"Norea?!" I heard Kevin's voice and I pulled away from Jay. Kevin's voice broke as he stared at me with teary eyes. "Were you cheating on me?"

"I.....I was going to break up with you, but I could never find the right time."

"Oh," he said as tears started coursing down his cheeks. "Is that why you picked the song the other night?"

"Yeah." I said guiltily.

He came over and handed me the bouquet of cheery, mixed flowers he held in his hands "Well, I guess this is the end. Goodbye Norae." he said briskly walking away before I could say I was sorry.

"Well that took care of that." said Jay with a smile.

"Yeah." I said a little glumly that Kevin found out the way he did.

"Ms. Song is it?" said a tall man coming up to us.

"Yes, that's me."

"I'm the scout for the entertainment agency SidusHQ. We're interested in singing you on as a trainee in our company."

"Really?!" I said with wide eyes.

"Yes, you're an extremely talented singer and we hope you join our company. Here's my card. Call me on Monday for details if interested."

"Thank you sir!" I said bowing before he turned and left. 

"You did that didn't you?!" I said turning to Jay.

"No." he said innocently.

"Stop messing with me! You did didn't you?!" I cocked my head.

"I may have casually mentioned that an unsigned, rising artist of exceptional quality was singing at this club tonight.....and that there were several interested parties coming to watch you audition."

"You're the best Jay." I said hugging him.

"You deserve only the best Songbird." he said kissing the top of my head.
