Escape

~Kyoung Mi’s POV~

“Kyoung Mi!!!!”

My eyes widened when I heard someone hiss my name. My heart thudded against my chest as the worst thought came into my mind: Appa.

I stopped in my tracks, expecting appa’s hand to pull my hair and drag me out through the front door, but instead, I felt a small, soft hand squeeze my shoulder.

“Ha Neul!” Jaejoong cursed under her breath. “Don’t you dare scare us like that again!”

“Hey! I’m just trying to help!” Ha Neul smirked at her brother. “Where are you going anyway? Han Ku ahjussi’s outside.”

“We’re gonna drive around town.” Jaejoong said. “It’s convenient if ever ahjussi rushes in and tears the house apart.”

“Stroll around town, eh?” Ha Neul raised her eyebrows.

“Wae?” I asked.

“Didn’t you think that he might check DBSK’s dorm if you’re there?” She directed at me. “Or maybe he already did.”

“Oh shoot.” I did not think of that. Maybe that was the reason why my dad had the idea that I was in Lee Jun’s house. But how? He knows that Lee Jun left me years ago. Why would he suddenly think that I’d go running to his house?

“Should we go home first?” Jaejoong asked me.

I just nodded and let him pull me out the back door. We ran behind the bushes to avoid being seen by appa. I was glad that ahjumma planted a lot as if she was planning of having her own greenhouse.

“Where’s your car?” I asked Jaejoong as, gripping his hand tighter as I felt my legs getting stiff. “Why did you park so far away?”

“So you wouldn’t see it.” He answered. “I drove you here, right? You didn’t know about me yet.”

Finally, I saw his car. It was parked at a neighbor’s abandoned lawn and was covered by a tall bunch of grasses.

“Come on.” He carried me bridal style and put me inside the car. You ask why? So that the grass won’t make my legs itchy. Sweet, huh? Hands off, he’s mine.

I rolled down the window and looked back to where appa and ahjumma were still arguing. I smiled as the wind blew my hair back and the scent of morning dew reached my nose. “Ah, I miss the morning smell.”

I heard a chuckle from inside the car and felt a hand on my back. “Didn’t you miss me more?” Jaejoong asked.

I laughed and sat back on my seat. He was staring straight at the road and surprisingly, there was a hint of worry in his eyes. I knew in that instant that he was thinking about me.

I reached for his right hand on the steering wheel and gripped it tight. He looked at me with questioning eyes, but I just gave him a smile and kissed his cheek. “You know it’s awesome how you can drive with one hand without looking ahead.”

“And you know it makes me go crazy when you stare at me like that.” He whispered in a low voice. “I missed you, baby sunbae.”
