Chapter 32

It's Me, Lee Jun

~Jaejoong’s POV~

I received a call from Ha Neul.

“This is it. You can’t escape anymore.”

I took a deep breath and went inside.

“Who are you?!” My mom screamed. I forgot that I had a surgery and that she didn’t know about it.

Luckily, Ha Neul came and held her back when she tried to hit me with a vase.

“Omma, omma, he’s oppa. He’s Lee Jun oppa.” She said.

“What the are you telling me, Ha Neul?! Are you crazy?! He looks totally different from your brother!!!!” Omma screamed.

“Omma.” I said. “It’s me, omma.” I lifted my hand and showed her the bracelet which Kyoung Mi made especially for me. It was the first time I wore it again after Kyoung Mi became our assistant manager.

“You?” Omma whispered. “How? What?”

We sat down and Ha Neul explained everything to our mom. Yes, Ha Neul knew everything. I looked around, trying to find Kyoung Mi, but not even a sound was heard.

Where is she?

Ha Neul finished explaining. My mom looked at me with a horrified expression.

“He did that to you?” She whispered. “He did that to you and Kyoung Mi?!”

I nodded. “I had nothing else to do. It was the only way he could accept me.” I paused. “I had to change.”

“And she doesn’t know?” She asked.

“She knows that he is Lee Jun, omma.” Ha Neul said. “But she doesn’t know that her dad is the one behind it.”

I nodded and let her talk.

“She’s hurt. She overheard you and Ha Ju oppa.”

I looked up when she said that.

“She thinks you did it on your own will. She assumes you did it because you think you’re not enough for her. She’s blaming herself.”

“I never wanted this.” I said.

“I know.” Ha Neul said. “I perfectly know that you love each other so much.”

“Where is she?” I finally asked.

“She’s in your room.” Ha Neul answered.

I stood up and walked up the stairs.

It’s been long, very long, since I last walked here.

I reached the second floor. I was just a few steps from my room, but I seemed to be stuck there. Myy heart thumped in my chest, full of nervousness.

What if she gets mad? What if she runs away?

I breathed deeply and walked to my room. The door was open and I had a view of our study place. My books were still there, even my school projects.

My old computer was in the corner and some of my most precious possessions. But the most important possession of mine lied on the bed. Kyoung Mi.

She was hugging the stuffed toy she gave me on my birthday, traces of tears still visible on her face.

“You’ve been crying again.” I whispered.

I found my spare glasses on the windowsill, so I wore it. I slowly felt Lee Jun come back again.

I sat on the bed and stared at her.

“What would you do when you wake up?” I whispered. “I don’t want you to leave me.”

Suddenly, a stack of books fell down with a loud crash. I quickly dashed to lock the door so omma and Ha Neul wouldn’t rush in.

As I was about to restack the books, I heard a groan. I turned around and saw Kyoung Mi sitting up and scratching her eyes.

I stood still, waiting if she’s notice me or not. She opened her eyes and looked at my direction.

“Jae?” She whispered.

“Kyoung Mi.” I walked towards her. She looked up at me.

“What—“

“Kyoung Mi, I’m so sorry.”

~Kyoung Mi’s POV~

“Kyoung Mi, I’m so sorry.” He said.

I looked around and realized I wasn’t in my room like I thought. I was in his room.

Tears built in my eyes and I started breathing hard.

“Kyoung Mi.” He took a step forward. “Don’t leave me, please.” He begged.

My tears fell when he started crying. He was in pain.

He knows.

“Kyoung Mi, let me explain. Don’t leave again, okay?” He cried and knelt on the floor beside his singe bed. “That night, you left because of what you heard. You left me.”

“I—“

“Please don’t leave. I never wanted this, Kyoung Mi. I didn’t want to lie to you.”
