Epilogue: That's what makes love so beautiful

Drawing the Line

NOTE; VERY VERY LONG CHAPTER AHEAD

Hani sniggered as she crept up behind her boyfriend’s back, knees bended and ready to pounce when he least expected it. He was completely immersed in the art of writing messages across the milky foam of the coffee cup, and would definitely not suspect anything behind him. Namjoon was the type of guy that barely took into account his surroundings whenever something would amaze him. He’d only focus on whatever took his breath away. Although this habit was quite a safety hazard to him and his surroundings, for once she was glad he wouldn’t suspect a thing. She lost count of the amount of times she heard him telling her about when he narrowly avoided an accident because he hadn’t given any attention to his environment.

She planned on getting her revenge on him this time. He was always scaring her at the most focused moments. Once, she’d even resulted with a crooked line across her eye, and for that she had sulked for days on end. This time, he’ll be the one with a ruined work, and Hani didn’t feel one drop of remorse for the coffee cup about to go to waste. If he had the audacity to waste that much eyeliner, then surely she could ignore the value of some mere coffee beans. He was unaware of her schedule finishing early, and when she entered the café, she made extra attention as to silence the waiters outside that they shouldn’t say anything to their boss before she slipped into the main kitchen.

She took one step forward, hearing him mumble nonsensical nothings to himself, and took a deep, silent breath. Then she lunged forward.

Namjoon swiveled around and clasped her hips so fast that she gasped. Looking up at him with utter shock, fell open at his quick reflexes.

“How?!” She cried out in frustration. Her plan had backfired upon her, and she was not happy about it.

Namjoon shook his head in response before pushing her slightly back, “Do you think I’m deaf? I hear you just fine”

“Yeah but how?! I was so silent I could’ve been a shadow!” She stomped her foot in annoyance. The man’s eyebrow shot up and he pointed at her feet.

Hani felt like slapping herself when she realized that she had indeed been wearing heels. Well, that was smart, she thought to herself when humiliation washed over her face. Her lips turned downwards at the edges before she huffed and turned away, hiding her embarrassment by blindly starting to prepare another cup of coffee.

Namjoon laughed softly, his husky tenor vibrating throughout the room, “that’s cute”

“I thought I had you for a minute” Hani grumbled to herself, though loud enough to reach his ears.

He finished his own cappuccino and slid in on a saucer, passing it over to one of the servers waiting by the kitchen. He turned around only to notice Hani’s form bent over the cup, tongue stuck out between her teeth while her fingers shakily tilted the jug of foamed milk. A smile danced across his face in amusement. No matter how much Hani claimed that she was a master at this, her creations were far from beautiful. They were always crooked and a bit too messy to be served to customers, but Namjoon loved them. The squiggly lines of imperfections are what he wanted to see, not the things everyone could see upon the surface. Hani was a fashion icon, was veneered by a lot of teenage girls and boys alike, but they didn’t know this side of her, that vulnerable side, the human in her. And that was what Namjoon cherished the most.

His big hands came around hers, stabilizing the grip on the jug. Hani glanced up at him from the cup, “I’m fine, I can do it”

“Here,” He guided her silently; keeping his dexterous grasp on her wrist and controlling the amount of power she was putting into her movements. One needed to be fragile and gentle with coffee, and granted Hani was definitely not either of those qualities. No matter how much of a girl she was by dressing up and acting feminine when people surrounded her, he’d always find solace in her clumsy and awkward side whenever they were alone. He found these rare moments the most beautiful in her, because then she acted as if she was her own, and not trying to prove anything to anyone else.

“You’re doing all the work” She complained and tried pulling away at his grasp while not spilling the milk. He rolled his eyes and pulled her closer, hand going round her hip to pin her in place, “You’re going to spill it all over you”

“What are you doing?” Hani grimaced at the now deformed picture they had made due to too much movement, “look, it’s deformed now”

“That’s cause you’re holding it too tightly” his fingers brushed over the underside of her wrist in an affectionate manner.

“This is too hard” she gave up after some time, and Namjoon chuckled at her childish behavior, taking it away and removing the milk so that the decoration could be done once again.

Hani plopped herself at one of the kitchen counters, not bothering to hide the fact that she was staring openly at her boyfriend’s very broad back and strong shoulders.

“Do you know that there’s going to be a school reunion soon?” she said when the thought popped into her mind.

“A school reunion?” he leaned over and she admired his firm appreciatively.

“Mmhm, it’s this Friday evening” Hani plopped her head in between her hands, “it’s for all the alumni’s of our school’

‘Cool’ he turned momentarily to catch her stare, and she quickly looked away so as not to get caught, ‘are you going?’

“Sure, why not? We’ll probably meet the guys, Soa and Chohee there. It’s a pretty good opportunity to catch up with them”

Namjoon chuckled and turned his attention back to the cup, “Well, I do see the boys on a weekly basis”

“I haven’t been able to see the girls at all since I’ve returned” a sigh escaped her lips at the thought. She had just returned from a big modeling audition in Los Angeles just a week ago, and had been too knocked out that they’d given her a week off.

“What time is it?” He wiped the edge of the jug once he was done and admired his work with satisfaction.

Hani’s hands suddenly enveloped his waist while her head pressed against the strong muscles of his back; “I think it’s six in the evening, if I’m not wrong”

“Then we’ll go” He looked back at her face, which was buried in his shirt, as his hands grabbed at her own at his waist, “hey, get off”

Hani’s whine almost melted his heart, “Why~”

“It might look unprofessional” He liked her touches, just not at work and especially not when anyone could barge in on them at work. Plus, he wasn’t really much of a cuddler, which was an issue when Hani adored cuddling anywhere and everywhere.

“You’re so cold” She grimaced before pulling away with a pout on her face. He inwardly frowned since he was always a lost man with her cute facial expressions, and right now was exactly what she felt like doing.

“Aish you” his arm reached out to ruffle her hair amiably, “You’re not helping”

“What, I bet you’re trying so hard to resist my charms right now” she continued following him around as he started cleaning up the workspace, ignoring her face and her whines at his best.

“What charms?” he snorted while looking away.

“Then why aren’t you looking at me?” She egged him on a she followed his footsteps and practically glued her hip to his like a puppy following it’s master, “Because you’re scared. Namjoon’s scared that he’ll crack, because Namjoon likes cute things-“

“Be quiet”

“-Because deep down Namjoon just loves it when I’m making cute faces, he just doesn’t want to admit it. You don’t want to admit it, you’re such a coward, Namjoon’s a coward-“

She didn’t get time to finish her line before the man whipped around and grabbed at her chin, kissing her deeply. She moaned when his tongue ran over her lower lips, but before she could part them and welcome his strong muscle, he pulled away teasingly. A whine fell from her lips but Namjoon shook his head and flashed her a dimpled smile, “Nu-uh, you’ll get all the kisses you want back home”

‘Fine” She mumbled, “I’m going then”

“Yes, you do that”

“I’m going right now!” She called out, looking at him like a kicked puppy, “I’ll be waiting!”

“Yeah, yeah”

“Namjoon?”

Sighing, the said man ly to see her throw him a very bright smile followed by an aegyo, “Saranghae!~” before sauntering out of the door.

“Seongsaengnim ~ Is this your boyfriend?”

Chohee embarrassingly waved the two girls off back to their places. She had been in the middle of a Karate class with primary school students when Jungkook just had to come over and interrupt the session. She instructed them to stretch and prepare themselves before going over towards her boyfriend, who had a successful smile drawn onto his face. She felt like slapping it off, as she had told him numerous times that he shouldn’t come bothering her when she had classes.

And here he was, having the audacity to smile.

“I told you to stop interrupting my classes” Chohee scowled when she walked up to him. She didn’t want to go any closer; for fear that he’d smell the sweat rolling off her body. Self-conscious about the fact that she had nothing under her Karate Gi (special karate costume), she crossed her arms over her chest in a protective stance and made sure to send him a glare, one that Jungkook didn’t even bother getting scared of.

“Is it so bad that I wanted to see you?” Jungkook replied with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

“You see me everyday” She deadpanned. Sometimes, Jungkook could be so stupid.

“So? So what?” before she could do anything else, his arm shot out to grab onto hers and he pulled her over. Chohee panicked, pressing her hands against his chest in an attempt to push him away. But they were feeble underneath the stare he was giving her, it made her knees shake with nervousness.

“Y-Yah! I’m in the middle of class! You can’t just-“ He caged her in his arms and smiled triumphantly. He started talking as if nothing was wrong and that there weren’t any faces looking over at the two of them curiously. Obviously her students had heard her protests, and Jungkook only sent them a wave in response. Chohee had some work cut out for her trying to explain how she seemed so weak at his touch, and he couldn’t be any happier.

“There’s a school reunion on Friday. I got a call from the secretary. All alumnis are invited. You’re coming, aren’t you?”

“You-You” She struggled against him, feebly punching his arm, “You came all the way here just to tell me that?!”

“Why can’t I?”

“Because it’s stupid! You could’ve phoned!”

“But then I wouldn’t get to see your cute face, or your student’s reactions for that matter” he leaned in so that their noses brushed, watching how her eyes suddenly froze on his lips, “You’ll have to answer a lot of questions when you get back, seongsaengnim~”

“Jungkook! Yah!” she finally kicked him in the gut and the boy released her with a soft groan. Throwing her boyfriend a glare, the girl huffed with anger pulsing through her face as if a volcano was about to explode, “You’re so damn annoying!”

“I love you too, Jagiya~” He winked back at her, watching her face flush adorably.

“Get lost!” Swiveling on her feet, she stomped back to her class. One look at her face already told anyone passing by that they shouldn’t start meddling with her, and that’s exactly what her class did when they noticed her coming back. They hurriedly made as if they had been stretching all this time when in truth, they were more than interested in Chohee’s love life; Chohee, the ice queen and the one that beat every single black belt’s she encountered. If there was one thing that would make her crack, then they definitely found it, her weak spot.

“Seongsaengnim, you have a handsome boyfriend,” one of the students chirped.

It didn’t aid Chohee’s face to cool down. On the contrary, it just flushed some more and she swore she felt steam about to explode from her ears.

“Can you introduce him to us some time?” Another student asked cheekily.

“No!” She snapped and pointed at the mats, “Who told you to talk?! Go do 50 press-ups, now!”

----------------

Friday came at long last. Ever since she heard about this group meeting, Soa had been over the moon. She wasn’t usually so attached to things like this, but this high school had definitely been one of the places where the best memories were created. She couldn’t remember how much time had passed ever since she hadn’t visited the place she literally grew up in, and now was her chance to relive those moments that were special to her, the moments that she held so close to her heart.

However, it wasn’t until this morning that Soa started feeling sick in her stomach. Hoseok had been out for the day, only returning in the late afternoon with tiredness seeping from his bones. His face was filled with tiredness, and lines of worry were etched at the edges of his eyes. Even through that, he had managed to buy one of Soa’s favorite coffee drink. The door clicked open and he slipped inside their flat, frowning when only silence replied to him. Where was she? He thought to himself as he placed his things on the living room table. Walking quickly towards the bedroom, he opened the door to find Soa’s back to him. The girl jumped in surprise at the sound of the door creaking open, quickly turning towards him with a somewhat guilty look on her face. He blinked when he noticed that she was only in her underwear, a smirk spreading itself across his face.

“What are you doing?” He murmured huskily.

Soa gulped down the saliva coating , feeling a bit more than shocked at his presence, “N-Nothing”

Then, realizing that she was in nothing but lingerie, her eyes widened into saucers and she proceeded to dash into the bathroom. But before she could turn around and make a beeline, she felt Hoseok’s hands lace themselves around her waist as his mouth came to a rest upon the back of her shoulder.

“You’re testing me,” Hoseok whispered onto her skin.

Soa shivered and let out a scoff, “I didn’t do anything”

“I bought you an Iced Latte” He replied while nuzzling the underside of her jaw.

Soa smiled, momentarily forgetting the embarrassing fact that she was indeed practically , “thanks”

“How was work?”

“Fine, the usual. I got to work with a girl who’s color blind” Soa’s breath halted when she felt a kiss upon the back of her neck. Hoseok’s lips. His hand moved away the hair tumbling down her back to her shoulder before continuing to pepper kisses over her over shoulder.

“That’s cool” He whispered, “Mine was pretty fun too”

He suddenly noticed how her hands were clenched around something, and a frown appeared on his face. “What’s that?”

“What?”

“In your hands”

“Nothing!” She replied a little bit too quickly. She pushed him away and ran to the bathroom before closing the door in his face. The man could only blink in puzzlement while pondering over her weird behavior. What was going on? He thought to himself, thinking of the possibilities of her acting that way, was she hiding something from him?

Nah, Soa wasn’t like that, not any more, he shook his head in haste. And anyway, if there were something bugging her, she’d come out of her private shell and share it with him, no matter how stupid it may seem. They’ve come to a stage where intimacy was the key. He could recite all her favorite food by heart, he could recognize the sound of her breathing anywhere, he recognized the sound of her footsteps and the smell of her clothes. If she weren’t prepared to tell him, then he wouldn’t pressure her into it, because she needed to take her time.

A moment later, she was back out with some black skinny pants and a loose white shirt while Hoseok took a bath and changed in more casual clothing. He gathered his things and tucked his phone into his pocket before seeing Soa pore over her mirror, mouth open as she tried to apply on some mascara on her lashes. From time to time, it was nice seeing her dress up, especially since she had never been one to shop till she dropped. Hoseok loved that feminine side to her as well, and instinctively his hand reached out to playfully tap her .

Soa’s head snapped around, throwing him an exasperated and more than a little shocked face, “Yah”

“What” A grin spread across his face, “You have a nice ”

“Hoseok!” She blushed furiously. He only shrugged back, “And those pants aren’t making it easier for me”

The trip to school brought back memories. The familiar roads she’d forgotten about, the places they always hung out, the school gates that welcomed her were more than a bit nostalgic. She watched the rusted metal as they passed by, and thought of all the times they had to push it open when staying after school for projects and studies. It was older, decorated with amber specks of dust and mold growing onto the side. Once they entered, she reminisced the courtyard in which she was bullied, the courtyard where Hoseok hadn’t wanted to let her go during that new year…all those memories kept flooding at her back of her mind like a movie on rewind. It was a beautiful thing, now that she thought back. She should have cherished her school life a lot more, for those were times of innocence, the times where everything and anything could be fixed within a day. In the world of work, there was no getting out of whatever situation you dug for yourself.

Hoseok slid an arm around her waist when they started walking towards the gymnasium, where the opening speeches were to be presented. His fingers brushed slightly over her hip, causing a troop of butterflies to flutter against the inside of her ribcage. Even after all those years, that man’s touch melted her sanity and shook up the stirred feelings inside of her. Soa always felt as if it was the first time all over again at each touch he exerted on her skin.

“Do you think we’ll meet up with the girls that bullied me and stuff?”

J-Hope frowned then, “Who?”

“Haeryung and her group” Soa shifted uncomfortably at the mention of the said woman’s name. She wished that she didn’t see her, or it would just make the encounter very uncomfortable.

“If we do, then remind me to insult them as much as they did to you”

Soa giggled slightly at his aggressive behavior, reaching up to flick his forehead teasingly, “Don’t you dare mister. It’s been long, they’re probably grown out of that stage by now”

Once they entered the gym hall, Soa caught sight of familiar faces popping up to meet her, and although many hadn’t been close friends with her, it was nice seeing the people that had accompanied her throughout the last few years of her childhood.

“Soa! Soa! Soa!” Taehyung rushed over to her the moment he stepped into the room, gathering her up in his arms and squishing her against his chest. The girl’s squeaks of protests were muffled, although demanding at once that he let go of her.

“Yah! She can’t breathe!” Jimin pulled her away only to hug her again in a bone-breaking embrace.

She was rescued when Hoseok managed to pull her away, shooting his younger friends a glare that promised many things.

“Hyung!~” Taehyung whined like a baby, stomping his feet, “Give her back”

“Go get your own girlfriend”

“I do,” Taehyung’s lips shifted into a smile that made his eyes disappear, “She’s at home, resting”

“Mine’s at her mom’s place” Jimin said, “She’s pissed that she’s not an alumni”

“ to be you” Hoseok shot back while Soa nudged him hard in the ribs, hard enough for him to look down at her, “What?”

“Don’t be mean”

“I’m not” He puffed out his cheeks in annoyance, ‘they are”

“Hey guys!”

They all turned towards the familiar voice that shouted out a greeting, and weren’t surprised to find Hani and Namjoon walking up to them with interlaced hands. Jimin muttered something along the lines of “I never knew hyung would get someone like Hani”

“It’s been so long!” the latter practically threw herself at Soa and wrapped her arms around her in a tight hug. Soa returned it hesitantly, smelling the comfort she brought along with her familiar perfume and scent. It felt good to see Hani again, to talk to her again. They went way back.

“How have you been?” She asked, tossing her dyed curls to the side. Soa smiled in return, “I’ve been fine, pretty good. How was your trip?”

Jin joined them next, hands stuffed in the pockets of his coat and whistling randomly to a soft tune. Although Soa had never really been acquainted with the oldest of the group, she had to admit that without him, they’d never be able to be honest with each other. Jin was the standing pillar and seeing him now after so long made Soa bite her lip in order to keep in the tears of melancholy. “Hi Jin’ she managed, to whom the man responded with a gentle hug, just like a big brother would.

Then Chohee and Jungkook strolled in, always fighting like cats and dogs. If she and Hoseok usually played around with insults, then the younger couple practically held knives at each other’s throats.

“So he barged into my practice-“

Jungkook interrupted Chohee’s statement, “I didn’t barge. I just visited your practice room-“

“-When I told him that he wasn’t allowed-“

“-Your students told me I could!”

“-And even flirted around with them! They asked me for your name once you were gone!” Chohee’s eyes flashed with anger.

The group could only sigh in exasperation. Trust those two to always be at their best; fighting.

“I have a question” Taehyung piped up, stopping the two in their mid-argument. He almost regretted his decision when two heads whipped around to scowl at him with judging looks on their faces. Slightly taken aback by the fierceness pulsing through the atmosphere, he backed away while saying, “Do you guys still argue when you have ?”

That was enough to produce blushes. Jungkook just turned and looked away, trying to make as if he wasn’t the one concerned by this question, while Chohee definitely blushed beetroot red and became a stuttering mess of shut up’s and ‘I’ll get you back later’.

Jimin managed to punch Taehyung’s shoulder. Hard. “Ouch!”

“It’s called privacy, you sick turd” Jimin mocked as the other held his shoulder in mock hurt.

Soa chuckled, having missed the small bromance between them. Indeed, all their schedules never matched up, and it was hard to even have a proper night out with everyone present. But this meeting here made up for everything they’ve missed out upon each other’s lives.

She absentmindedly felt Hoseok’s hand trail down to interlace with her own, thumb tracing circular patterns across her knuckles, and felt the slight queasy feeling tighten her inside. There was something that she wasn’t sure how to tell, and she feared he’d take it the wrong way. The secret kept eating at the lower end of her stomach, and in an attempt to ease that stress, she chewed onto her bottom lip with her teeth.

“Soa, what are you doing?” she felt Hoseok’s finger tap her lip suggestively, and she released her hold while looking down at the ground, mumbling a soft, ‘nothing”

He was about to ask her what was the matter when a series of shouts echoed throughout the hall. Of course, it was none other than their own group of friends who jumped up and managed to dash to the two individuals that had just entered through the door. Yoongi’s face was the same as ever, except with that pissed-off typical look scrunching up his eyebrows that they’d gotten used to. It was exceptionally visible when the youngsters were around.

“Yoongi hyung!” Jimin jumped into his arms and managed to make the older man stagger backwards. He pushed Jimin off, mumbling a series of curses before lazily pulling Chaeryung out of Taehyung’s firm grip.

The latter whined, “I was just welcoming her”

“She doesn’t need you to” Yoongi shot back, eyes narrowing viciously, as if trying to pass on the message that if Taehyung were to continue his ministrations, he’d be dead meat.

“They managed to hook up,” the excitement bubbled up in Hani’s voice as she turned to Namjoon, “You never told me about that!”

“I didn’t know it myself until a few hours ago” Namjoon replied.

“Yoongi got the guts to ask her out only when he managed to sign a contract with a music production company” Jin announced with a proud smile, “He told me that if he wasn’t going to get the contract then he didn’t even deserve to show his face to Chaeryung”

“Chaeryung waited all those years?” Jungkook questioned with a confused gaze, and Jin only shrugged back.

“She was head over heels for him anyway. It was like an unspoken word between the two of them. They both loved each other, but they never said it until Yoongi got what he wanted”

Hoseok released a chuckle, “That’s cute”

“You’re finding everything cute these days” Soa rolled her eyes. That was enough to regain everyone’s attention.

“Hoseok and cute?!” Taehyung guffawed out loud, “Please, I think I’d rather eat a live chicken”

“Yah yah, don’t forget that this isn’t the Hoseok you’ve known for so long” Jin wriggled his brows suggestively, “He’s whipped now”

“I’m not whipped!”

“Are too” Jimin stuck out his tongue playfully, to which the older man only glowered. If looks could kill, jimin would have been shot twice in the head by now.

Suga thought that this might have been a bad idea to come over especially when attention was on them due to their relationship. If it had only been up to him, he’d never have come particularly because he’d probably be too tired or lazy to get up from his bed. But Chaeryung had wanted to go, and so he wasn’t about to let her go off alone by herself, knowing that a few years ago numerous classmates had taken quite a liking to the girl. Looking down at the said woman that had blossomed but merely changed from the shy girl she was once, an affectionate smile danced across Yoongi’s lips.

“W—What is it?” Her hand went up to rub the nape of her neck out of self-consciousness.

Yoongi wiped off the stupid grin on his face and managed to tear his gaze away. God man, he felt like slapping himself, he needed to have more self-control. What in the world was going on with him whenever Chaeryung was around?

They were greeted by the others and out of instinct; Chaeryung cowered behind his shoulder as if he could provide her this consolation for her timidity.

“Hi Chaeryung!” Chohee smiled brightly, bounding over to the said girl with a huge grin on her face.

Chaeryung smiled in return. A timid, shy smile, “Hi”

“Oh my god, she is getting cuter day by day” was Hani’s comment that made her neck hot with embarrassment. She shook her head in protest, and yet this only resulted in Hani cooing at her.

Yoongi didn’t even bother hiding the glare he’d thrown at the latter, “Stop that”

Hani instantly retreated in mock solemn, “Yessir”

It caused laughter to erupt all around, but he merely cared. As long as Chaeryung was fine and wasn’t feeling disturbed by all their comments, Yoongi could stand them. But what he hated the most was the teasing. He knew for a fact that she hated all this attention and the funny mockeries and the cooing’s, yet she always had shut about it. Since she wasn’t going to take care of herself, then he’d gladly do it for her, because he couldn’t stand to see those unsure expressions plastered on her face.

“Well, I presume life has been pretty damn good for the two of you” Namjoon said, “Congrats once again hyung, for that contract”

“Thanks” Yoongi’s lips twitched slightly upwards.

“Hyung’s going to be a popular producer!” Jimin fake-fanned himself and Taehyung laughed at his antics, “He’s gonna meet loads of famous people like Arianna Grande and stuff like that”

“Ew no” Jungkook’s nose wrinkled as he turned to his older friend, “Please don’t hyung, go ask Taylor Swift’s autograph instead”

“Jungkook, I think it’s still early to be talking about international productions, don’t you think?” Yoongi chuckled when confusion swept across the younger’s features. He sighed, “Nevermind”

“Hey, do you guys want to go and visit the school before the speeches start?” Jin proposed. A series of ‘yes’s and ‘okay’s followed as they moved towards the main corridors that would bring them to their classes. Yoongi was about to follow when he felt small, lithe hands slip into his. He turned with furrowed eyebrows only to catch sight of Chaeryung’s head looking down at the ground while shyly hiding her face into his shoulder. He suppressed a smile, but couldn’t help the tumbles and cartwheels his stomach was igniting.

“What are you doing?” he asked her, who was still hiding her face into the material of his shirt.

“What?” She looked up at him. He almost lost breath at the sight of her eyes. They were sparkling with vulnerability behind those frames. He looked away when it became too intense, for fear of the effect she had on him. It was amazing just how one single look from one single individual could result in him being a writhing mess.

“Nevermind” He cleared his throat and pulled her forward so that she collided into his chest. She looked up in surprise, eyes wide with shock before he took this chance to wind an arm around her waist.

They were practically alone in the open corridor, with no one to disturb them. Yoongi wasn’t a fan of public displays of affection, and he was glad for the silence, glad that the only thing he could hear was the sound of their breathing and the erratic heartbeats drumming through her chest.

“Yoongi-“ He shushed her, placing his forehead onto her own and relishing in that soft, familiar scent he’d gotten so addicted to.

“Sorry I just-“ he cleared his throat. His brown orbs flickered upwards to her face, before looking down again. He had acted upon instinct, and that instinct had been from Chaeryung’s presence. “I just felt like it”

A giggle bubbled up from her lips, “What?”

“Stop laughing” He grunted, feeling the blood creep up the back of his neck and knowing that it would be obvious if he blushed due to the pallor of his skin. That made him even more embarrassed.

“We should get going, or they will ask for us” He didn’t want her to pull away, but that could wait till they got home. As they started walking again, his hand brushed against hers before he grabbed onto it. Fingers sliding between her own and squeezing slightly, he looked away when he felt her probing stare. He had never been a fan of sweet, intimate gestures like handholding, but if it was with Chaeryung, then everything was worth it. For her, he’d do anything.

That laundry closet.

That damn laundry closet.

It was as if it happened yesterday, for Soa could remember every little speck of detail, every little touch of intimacy, and the first time they had both given in to that addicted feeling of love. Her feet led her inside before she could stop them, and she gazed at the corner where they had sat, her on his lap, practically making out in the dark. God knows what would have happened if they had continued. She remembered how her senses went on overdrive every time his hand slid over her skin, every time he’d kiss her breath away. It was a miracle she hadn’t passed out, because his kisses were like poison, killing her by taking all his sweet time to endure the pain.

“This brings back memories,” Hoseok noted. When she turned, she could see the screws in is mind rolling like a movie they’d put on rewind, gaze stuck to the wall where he’d pressed her against, where he’d laid his hands on the most sensitive parts of her body in an attempt to make her give in to the roaring desire inside her ribcages, like a storm of waves bucking over a cliff.

She nodded and hoped that the blood hadn’t already accumulated in her cheeks yet.

“Now that I think back to it, I don’t think it there’d be an ‘us’ if not for Taehyung’s plan” Soa murmured, deep in thought.

Hoseok looked at her, “That’s true”

“I wonder what would have happened”

“We wouldn’t be married, that’s certain”

She was suddenly aware of his hand at her waist and his breath at her ear. Looking up, his eyes were dancing with a melody only she could decipher, and she could see affection swimming through the maroon swirls.

“I never told you how beautiful you looked that day” His whisper sent an electrical dance along her spine.

She chuckled, “Okay?”

“I never told you how beautiful you look now”

“Hoseok, why so cheesy-“ she started teasing him, but then when she felt his eyes darken with a serious air, worry bloomed inside her chest. Was something wrong? Had she done something he wasn’t happy about? If it was about the overcooked spaghetti of last night she’d forgotten to throw away…

“Is there something you’re not telling me, Soa?”

She attempted to keep her heartbeats from going into a staccato rhythm, eyes looking everywhere but at the individual in question. She took a shaky breath and finally looked up to meet his gaze, “I--…is there?”

He didn’t seem satisfied with her response, continuing to gaze at her with so much intensity that she felt like squirming. He pulled her closer, before his hand went to his back pocket and retrieved a white thin object.

There were two lines drawn across the monitor.

It read ’pregnant’.

When he spoke next, his voice was dark and rough. He was angry, “When were you going to tell me?”

She flinched back and bit her lip. , he wasn’t supposed to find out this way, how could she have been so reckless? “I didn’t mean to-“

“Or were you not going to tell me at all?”

She opened to speak, and then closed it again before lowering her head. They stayed in silence for a while before she managed to mutter some incomprehensible words that Hoseok couldn’t decipher.

“What did you say?”

“I was scared” She was speaking to the floor, too ashamed to look into his eyes. Those eyes that made her so vulnerable, “I didn’t know how to go on about telling it to you”

Unbelievable. Hoseok felt like laughing. He had married her for a reason, and that reason was partly because he loved her. The other part of him dearly wanted to make a family, with her, because he couldn’t imagine creating small miniatures of their own with someone else. How could she not understand that after all these years, he still loved her and would never leave her? She acted as if he was a monster about to erupt at any silly mistake, and granted this was definitely not a mistake.

Her hair was falling into her eyes, her newly cut bangs hiding the expression of her face. Slowly, so as not to scare her off, his fingers reached out to tilt up her chin. When her brown orbs fluttered up to meet his, he swore he felt his heart skip a beat and roll away. The love he bore for this woman was the kind of love that would never be replaced, no matter where he was, no matter how much they were apart and most importantly no matter how many times they’d get into arguments and fight it out.

Her eyes were filled with struggling emotions; emotions that made his heart ache. There it was; that nervousness, the uncertainty, the fear. How could she even think of that?

His hands reached out and grabbed onto her shoulders, lowering his head so that their eyes were in direct contact.

Soa felt her heart stutter.

“Why did I go out with you?” he asked in a whisper.

She stayed silent, before realizing that he had been waiting for an answer. Her lips trembled with the words, “I-I…B-because you liked me?”

“Why did I like you?”

She took her lip in between her teeth, “I don’t know”

“Do you know why I married you?”

Only silence was the reply.

He leaned in closer and she felt their noses touching, “Do you know why I love you?”

She shook her head very adamantly this time, and he breathed out a frustrated sigh.

After a moment of brief silence, his hands moved up from her shoulders to her cheeks, cupping her face in his huge palms and bringing their foreheads together. He ordered her to look into his eyes and nowhere else, before speaking again.

“I love you because you’re just you, Soa. Not anyone else. I married you for that same reason, and yes I do want a family with you. What made you think that I wouldn’t accept the baby?”

Suddenly the air was too stagnant to breathe. Soa chewed on her bottom lip for a while, and then murmured, “It’s not the fear of you not accepting the baby…”

“You--” He hesitated and his heart could have stopped beating at this moment, “don’t want kids?”

No no! Nothing like that” she grabbed onto his forearms to calm her raging mind, “I’m just…scared” Her eyes were wide with panic, “I’m scared

She was practically chewing her lip off at that moment, unable to look at him in the eye and unable to process the thoughts raging in his mind at her statement. Sure, women are happy when they fell pregnant, it was a miraculous feeling, the feeling of having someone’s life inside of you, you apparently felt like you owned the world, which was what numerous articles said about pregnancy. But Soa shivered every time she read them, every time her eyes would skim over the procedure and how much it hurt when the nine months were over. More importantly though, was what came after that. Would she be a good mom if she herself had never really been through a great family life? Would she be able to cope with her kids and instruct them the good and the bad?

“Hey,” her eyes shifted back to his and she felt his breath on her face, almost enough to wash all her inner conflicts away. The warmth of the skin of his forehead onto hers provided a protection she marveled in.

“We’re in this together” a small smile danced across his lips and curled them up, eyes twinkling, “Trust, right?”

Slowly, as if his confidence in the promises he made regenerated her hopes and dreams, Soa nodded in understanding before she mirrored his smile. It was gentle and very vulnerable, but it was a smile nevertheless, and J-Hope lost breath to see her.

It felt like falling in love all over again, and he didn’t mind how many times his heart lost beats when he took in the sight before him, even if it killed him from so many emotions swelling through his chest.

The silence was comforting and reminded her of all the times he’d been there for her, all the times he’d hold her in his arms and give her whatever she needed. He always gave and gave without asking for anything back, and she was glad that the small life she was holding inside of her at least made him happy. If she couldn’t give it back, then at least there was still this small miracle that could satisfy him. She always thought that she couldn’t match up to his needs, to his standards, but the man was smiling at her, at the gift he was receiving from her, and that was what made her happiest.

“I love you,” she blurted out loud before she could stop herself. Shocked at her sudden spontaneous revelation, she clamped a hand over and pushed J-Hope away, eyes wide.

Hoseok chuckled deeply, “That’s cute”

She huffed and looked away, “Shut up”

“For what it’s worth” He caged her in his arms once again and hovered his lips over hers; brushing them lightly against each other “I love you too”

Before she could do anything else, the man was on his knees and had grabbed onto her waist. He pulled her over, so that his gaze was right on her stomach. Gently, his fingers reached out to lift the hem of her t-shirt, and with a tenderness that Soa found fascinating, he leaned over to brush his lips against her navel. The embarrassment was slowly getting to her face, crawling towards the back of her neck, and yet she felt this bursting bubble of happiness at his own joy, his own overflowing feelings that caught up to her. It was a beautiful sight to watch indeed, the J-Hope that once held such an ice-cold heart. It was hard to make a link between those two individuals, and she couldn’t be more proud of what he’d become today.

“Hey there, baby,” He cooed softly, his breath hitting her stomach. She squirmed slightly, but he restrained her from stepping back with his arms around her waist.

Soa gasped when she felt his mouth peppering soft kisses all over her stomach, “Hoseok—“

“Mm?” He teasingly nuzzled her stomach, taking in the scent of her skin and already imagining the small life growing inside. His eyes flew up to meet her gaze filled with love, and he grinned. It felt like the stars had alighted the blackness of a night, and she found herself smiling back.

She wound her arms around his neck, and bent down to press a kiss atop his head.

She was glad to be here, more than glad to have told him in this particular place, the place where the line was destroyed, that line between love and hate.

And boy, had she been glad when he did.

Because between love and hate, there was a very fine line.

One should know when it should be crossed.

And look where it got them.

They were finally happy, they finally made it; their happy ending.

And another chapter would start, another happy ending would emerge. There will be the ups and downs, the fights and endless arguments, but with Hoseok, she thought that it was all worth it, because they understood each other, they knew that they needed each other even when they tried to deny it. They sacrificed and compromised and let themselves go, and more importantly, they trusted; truly, madly, deeply, from the bottom of their two scarred souls.

And that’s what made their love so beautiful.

Drawing the Line is officially over! /insert exploding fireworks and missiles in the background, BOOM!/

Well, where should I start?

This has been one hell of a good ride, and I can't be grateful enough to all the people who've stopped by and taken a second look at my story. It isn't anything special, I agree that it is cliché, and that there are loads of other better fics out there, and yet, you guys managed to stick around long enough to see the last chapter of this fanfiction. I'm so happy and so so overjoyed by the amount of love it got during the whole thing, and I hope that you guys have enjoyed this as much as I did :)

At the start of this story, I really hadn't any clear idea about what the story plot was going to be like, all I knew is that I needed to do a Hoseok fic because my bae is too underrated, and every time I'd search his fanfics, very few came up. So I decided hey why not? And then, due to my experience with all BANGTAN's videos, I know that he's the happy virus, the moodmaker, the 'hope' of the group, and for once wanted get rid of that tag. And that's where everything started I guess :)

The message I wanted to convey throughout this entire fanfiction is indeed the idea that love is greate and wonderful and just filled with flowers. I guess that being a realist, I knew that love wasn't just about butterflies in the stomach and all the good things, but also the bad as well. I hoped that I managed to convey this throughout their relationships, especially HobiSoa and NamNi :) That what's more important is not just love in itself, but what comes with it; the trust, the faith in each other, and the sacrifices they all have to make.

Once again, I thank you guys, EVERYONE, for having read my story, for having commened and put down their opinions, whether good or bad. I'm so ever grateful that I got to share something I love doing with all of you, and the fact that you guys kept commenting on each chapter really made my day every single time. What's best about a story are the comments emerging about the plot, the questions, the curiousness of it all, and it was wonderful seeing you all dig into your minds trying to guess what will happen next :) I hope I didn't disappoint you all with the ending, I wanted to end it on a happy note with many more promises to come, and who knows? Maybe there'll be a spin-off or another additional chapter, who knows? ;)

As much as I'm not ready to let the four characters that have grown in my heart, all good things must come to an end, and I'll keep on writing more Bangtan Stories, so if you want to check them out :) !

THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST.

I love you all.

I wouldn't have made it this far without you.

Love, nutmeggu.
