Thud!

She didn’t even have time to scream out or open before J-Hope had fallen onto her body. She felt herself falling and awaited for the worst- for her head to knock onto the hard concrete floor and for her brains to spill everything. She would get a hemorrhage and would soon be found dead on the floor. Then, Hoseok would surely get arrested.

However, her head didn’t come into contact with the floor at all. Instead, a soft cushiony and less hard ground cushioned her fall. Her eyes flew open in shock and found themselves stuck onto the boy’s face that was millimeters from hers. Their noses were practically touching, and his dark breath washed over face and whiffed his delicious scent into her nostrils. She noticed that he had done on purpose to reach out and wrap her head with his arm so that she wouldn’t hit her head.

So it was his arm that pillowed her fall.

It was his arm that saved her head from bursting into small fractured pieces.

She took this time to look at Hoseok. Like really look at him.

His softly pointed nose; it was cute and rounded at the tip and enough to look squishable. If she reached out with a finger to poke it, it would surely flatten. His skin was fresh and clear from any zits, not even one small blemish although he did have small freckles splattered across his face. But it made him endearing without looking gross. His eyes were his forte; those orbs that could turn into a sweet eyesmile when he wanted to; like soft crescents of the moon appearing during the sun’s presence. But the feature of his face that striked her most were his lips. They weren’t large or plump or seductive, but Soa didn’t know why the small mole at the corner of his lip looked so attractive to her. It was a cute one that disappeared when he smiled. But right now when he was looking at her with the most serious look on his face, it was prominent, she felt like kissing it-

NO NO NO NO NO WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU ON ABOUT?! Soa’s thoughts were like a bursting cauldron as soon as the particular thought came over to her, and quickly she erased it as soon as it had come.

“Can you…um, get off me?” She wanted it to sound like a witty remark but what she thought it sounded and how it actually came out was like a murmur, a soft weak whisper like she had lost breath to something marvelous.

Still, the boy didn’t move or made any sign that he had heard. He had a kind of faraway look in his eyes. Soa knew he wasn’t on earth at this precise moment. He was watching her yes, his eyes were on her face –the blush was her face like flames- and yet she couldn’t decipher what was going on behind those maroon swirls, and she hated it.

Tentatively, like she was scared he would bite her head off, she reached out to tap his cheek softly “Hello?”

He blinked, and that was it. All the soft feelings present seconds ago vanished like thin air. His gaze was hardened steel when he met her eyes again, and with a grunt, he silently lifted himself off her and muttered a ‘’

Kimchi was wagging his tail at the sight of the two. The little bastard was enjoying the show, no doubt about that.

She almost cringed away when Hoseok grabbed a hold of her hand, hauling her up easily to her feet. The tingles of electricity present from his hand to hers was rushing through her veins and increasing her blood pressure. She quickly got out of his grasp and hid her hand behind her back, turning away so that he wouldn’t notice her blush. Hoseok being the ignorant Hoseok with no idea about the effect he had on her, crouched down with a surprising grin on his face as he beckoned to the dog.

“Hey boy” He cooed, motioning with his fingers “Come here, c’mon”

Kimchi got close enough for him to be able to his fur and scratch under his neck. The dog groaned in pleasure and started rubbing its body against the boy in appreciation. The smile on J-Hope’s face was so wide it could’ve broken his face in two, and Soa swore she had never seen this side of him; the vulnerable side, the soft and childish side.

It was cute.

The boy noticed her eyes fixated on his figure, and shifted uncomfortable while snapping “What?”

“What what?” She frowned. Damn, he was so mean.

“Stop staring at me”

“What’s your problem if I am?”

Hoseok smirked “Are you saying that you’re checking me out?”

That caused Soa’s skin to burst once again into that pink tone “What?! No, I-I’m not-“

“Dude chill, I was joking” He chuckled upon noticing her flabbergasted expression.

“Oh yeah, I’m laughing” More than embarrassed by his teasing, Soa only rolled her eyes and crossed her arms protectively over her chest in order to hide her curled fingers. Could she be even more embarrassing? A little bit more and the ground might just swallow her up.

“Since when is he here?” J-Hope asked her. She shrugged in response.
“I don’t know. I saw him on my first day” She counted on her fingers “That makes… 3 months”

“You didn’t eve bother calling an animal care center?”

“Why would I do that? They’d kill him after a week”

“Why don’t you bring him with you then?”

“I can’t”

His eyebrow quirked up in curiosity “Wae?”

“None of your business”

His thoughts flashed back to the time he had barged his way through her door without her consent, and he noticed that she had no parents around. Did it mean that she lived alone? Wasn’t she lonely coming back to this cold house? J-Hope couldn’t imagine going back to his own house without his sister to greet him; the only family member that he could trust and confide to. His parents were there of course, his parents had always been supporting his life from the moment he had been brought into this world, but the fact that they always compared him to his cousin just because Hoseok wasn’t the least bit interested in finances and Maths and further business studies caused the latter to feel worthless in his own household, where everyone else was good in academics.

“You live alone?” He asked tentatively although he already expected the blow she shot back at him.

“None of your business” she repeated, her eyes flashing with annoyance this time. He noticed another thing about Kang Soa; she wasn’t one to meddle with other people’s lives and kept to herself mostly. From all the times he came to bullying her, he didn’t know anything about her personality really, just that she could be a real when she wanted to. He guessed that she was kind to some degree since she got along with Jungkook, but then again they were of the same age, of course they would get along.

Plus, she didn’t have any friends apart from Hani. Probably because everyone stayed away from her the moment J-Hope took her as his target. The guilt hit him again.

Oh god, what had he done?

He stood up “Why can’t you reply like a normal person with a normal answer?”

“Does it annoy you?” She mocked.

He narrowed his eyes at her and curled a fist “Yeah, it does”

“Good” She spat and walked away before he ahd the chance to say anymore on his mind.
Well, didn’t that end well.

“Soa-ah!” Hani’s voice was the first thing that almost exploded Soa’s eardrums when she placed her phone to her ear. The latter put her phone away, stared at it for a moment in bewilderment before pressing it back to her ear with a sigh.

“Hani?”

On a beautiful Saturday morning, at 8:30 a.m. Her dear friend found the courage to call her.

“Ooh! You’re up!” She squealed. Soa closed her eyes with a soft groan and mentally screamed at herself for having even pressed onto that green button in the first place.

“What is it?” One would be a fool not to notice the slight edge of Soa’s voice.

“It’s such a beautiful day! Let’s go shopping!”

What. The. .

No way in hell! Soa screamed at the back of her mind. ing hell! Is she crazy?! The stores aren’t even open at this hour!

Sensing her reticence, Hani whined “C’mon Soaaa~ it’s so beautiful outside! Just go to your window!”

“Aniyo aniyo” Soa mumbled, already half-asleep.

“I’ll meet you in one hour arraso?! Let’s meet at the Lotte Young Plaza!”

“Do I really have to?”

“Yes! Come on I’m already dressed and all”

“Urgh, fine”

“Great!” Hani squealed “ Thanks so much!”

“I hate you’ was the last thing Soa replied before cutting the call to wake up thirty minutes later in a rush. Jumping out of her bed, she accidentally tripped onto her own blanket and fell face forward as her elbows hit the shelf next to her. a small cry lost it’s way out of her voice box when she hauled herself up wearily and muttered curse words at the said ornament. Damn furniture that had to be in my way, she cursed to herself as she rushed into the bathroom like a tornado on level 4.

Damnit! She rushed a comb through her hair, tying it back wildly with an elastic band while pouring herself a glass of water, downing it in one go. Then she snatched her bag from the coffee table, swiped her mobile phone and put on her shoes before she was on her way to the subway station.

When she exited the subway and arrived at the said destination, she caught sight of Hani waving hysterically across the road, and ran to her.

Her friend- unlike Soa’s disheveled and i-just-woke-up appearance- had dressed prettily for the event. A baby doll white top hugged her chest in all curvy places only to be tucked into a very puffy salmon skirt adorned with white polka dots and matching white sandals that gave her height a small boost. All in all, she looked like the pretty picture of a model found in magazines, and Soa noticed all the envious stares she accumulated, only to look down at her own worn out top, washed out jeans and sneakers to sigh. This was pathetic, she told herself, hitting her mentally with a hammer, how in the world am I ever going to walk alongside Hani while looking like this?

But it seemed like Hani didn’t mind. Instead, she said, “You woke up late didn’t you?”

Ruffling her hair, Soa guiltily looked everywhere but into Hani’s eyes, “No, what are you talking about?”

Hani slapped her arm, giggling “You liar! Look at your hair! Tie it again!”

“Argh fine” Soa reached out to smooth out her ponytail while following her friend to the café for breakfast. Hani made her way comfortably around each table and swishing to the counter, causing all male eyes to lay on her figure in a daze while female glares shot her down with jealousy.

“I’ll have a white chocolate Macchiato please” the server clumsily typed in her order. She turned to the other girl who was busy cowering behind her in embarrassment. she surely looked like a peasant next to this goddess.

“Um, an iced Americano” Soa mumbled.

They paid for their drinks and Soa followed Hani to the toher side where the seats were much more private, only to stop in her steps upon seeing familiar pairs of faces stand out amongst the red velvet sofas that adorned the setting.

Soa almost dropped her coffee in surprise “Wh-What-“ she babbled, not even making sense of her words at this moment.

Jimin, Namjoon, and Taehyung blinked back at her before flashing sheepish smiles.

“We knew that you wouldn’t come if we told you we’d tag along” Jimin chuckled at her baffled look, wanting to reach out and squeeze her cheeks for the expression on her face was so priceless.

“B-But-“

“Close your mouth princess” Namjoon reached out to press her chin upwards. “Or you might catch a fly”

Soa’s attention snapped back to her friend who only blinked at her innocently with an apologetic look. “Mianhae, Soa” Hani giggled.

She didn’t mind at all, not at all that BTS were present although Jin was missing because of his need to buy groceries, Jungkook being grounded and Suga having to babysit his neighbour’s kid, if it weren’t for him.

Yes, Jung Hoseok didn’t even acknowledge her presence, whoop-dee-ing-doo.

“Oppa! Let’s go to that shop!” Hani didn’t hesitate to drag Hoseok away from the group as soon as they exited the café. Soa could only watch with half-interest when he suddenly turned to glance back at her, as if saying something that she had to frown to comprehend. Unfortunately, the moment lasted for such a short time that Soa didn’t have time to actually understand what was swimming in his brown orbs, before he disappeared out of sight with Hani’s hand on his arm.

“Well, that’s a very nice way of ditching us” Jimin commented, scratching the back of his hair as they walked together “Hani’s always been a bit possessive”

“You guys…what’s Hani’s relationship with you?’ Soa blurted out and clapped a hand over in haste, eyes full of panic “I-I’m sorry I didn’t mean it that way. It’s none of my business-“

“Yah, why are you so stressed?” Taehyung bumped shoulders with her. “It’s just us”

“She’s been our neighbor since forever, if that replies to your question” Namjoon commented.

“Oh! Fried fish!” as soon as they caught sight of food, Jimin and Taehyung begged their hyung for money, which gave them with a roll of his eyes. Soa couldn’t help but admire Namjoon for his comforting aura. He seemed so scary yet so calm at times, she feared of his mood, but she learned soon enough that he wasn’t like that at all. He was a calm, a very down-to-earth and sweet guy when you got to know him, with his sometimes exploding facial expressions and hyper activeness that caused many to fall down from their seats from too much laughter.

Soa admired his leadership skills. She wishes she was that fruitful and mature.

“You guys don’t seem to like her very much” She admitted when the two kids were busy choosing their flavor. The older boy only shrugged and looked at her with a look of amusement on his face.
“Is it that obvious?”

“Well it’ not like we don’t like her” Jimin came back with his mouth full of food, offering a piece to Soa. She tentatively took a bite and let the piece of meat melt on her tongue. It felt good especially since she hadn’t eaten all morning, and had momentarily forgotten her appetite when she spotted the BTS boys. “It’s more like she’s kind of annoying”

“OH hey!” V suddenly waved “Isn’t that Haeryung?!”

“Yah!” Jimin hit him across the head “We don’t talk to her, you prick!”

“Oh!” Taehyung tapped his chin “That’s true”

“Idiot” Namjoon commented.

“excuse me, can I pass?”

an unfamiliar voice spoke behind them, and the group let the stranger go through while bowing in apology. However, when Soa lifted her eyes, she found Chohee- the girl involved with Haeryung’s clique, the silent one- staring back at her with not hate, but something more like sympathy and pity swimming at the border of her eyes.

“Be careful” she murmured, almost like a whisper that wouldn’t have been heard by anyone else but Soa.

She blinked when Chohee walked away.

I know this looks like a short chapter but it's actually 2500 words :P Usually my chapies range from 2000-3000 soooo :P.... Hope you guys liked this update! Omg J-Hope and Soa, HOBI SOA SHIP IS SAILING GUYS IT'S FREAKING SAILING THE IS COMING CAN YOU FEEL IT?! This chapter was quite boring in itself, but keep tuned onto the small details because it will all come in later. it might look useless to add this scene but seriously, it's worth it in the end :) And of course hoped you like the interaction between hobi and Soa, aren't they the cutest?! :D <3
