Prom II

Drawing the Line

“If only you could be like other girls. You’re practically a man!”

He didn’t. He didn’t spit those words out of his mouth. Did he?

But he damn did.

Chohee marched right pas the front door and into the courtyard with a fitful passion of rage coiling and boiling inside her stomach. She was ready to explode at any moment, ready to tear someone’s head off and if one would come and step into her way, she would see to it that she becomes a murderer. She didn’t care anymore; the anger that was pumping through her blood was enough to remind her that someone that particular someone had set off a time bomb within her, and he was the cause of it especially.

Her fingers were aching to grab onto something; anything and hurl. Tears were slowly making way to her eyes and stinging her orbs. It wasn’t her fault that she wasn’t the same as the rest of them. She wasn’t a normal high school girl that loved talking about makeup and played with her hair and did all other girly things that women were usually interested in doing. Jungkook knew about her insecurity to it, her vulnerability into being different. It wasn’t something that Chohee had chosen for herself but it was only her nature, and yet since she had thought that her secret would be safe with him, he was the one to have betrayed her first by turning his own back on her.

He was running after her now, his cries echoing through the silent night and cutting through her heartstrings as exhaled a gasp of air from her lips.

“Chohee! Chohee wait, I didn’t mean it!”

She was too out of breath to run away and her dress wasn’t cutting her any slack either. Jungkook’s hand came to wrap around her wrist as he turned her to him. She made sure to clamp her gaze onto the ground before them so that she didn’t have to look up into those lying brown orbs filled with nothing but pity. Pity was the word she hated coming out of other people’s mouths. That’s all they could do; try and fake sympathy or just mock her in her face.

“Chohee,” that alto tone filling her ears sent shivers down her spine “I didn’t mean that. I just got too carried away”

She regarded the boy with certain malice in her eyes, not trusting him in the least. “You meant it, right?” she whispered softly “You meant every ing word”

“No” he didn’t even wince when she threw him a glare “I didn’t”

“Why then?” the girl only rolled her eyes in exasperation as Jungkook’s grip on her arm seemed to tighten slightly, like he was scared she was going to run away at any moment when it was impossible for her to do so in those heels. “There must be a reason it came out of your mouth”

For a moment, the boy said nothing. His eyes traced every pattern, every ridge and every feature of her face. All from the top of her hairline to the bridge of her nose down to her lips that were open and breathing from the run she had broken into earlier. Something seemed to change inside his gaze when he stared back up into her own brown irises, his own swirling with a mysterious mist that seemed to captivate Chohee, to urge her into gazing at him.

Then she realized just how much Jungkook had changed this past year; he was a man now. No more a boy. Even the look on his face had changed not to mention the muscles of his arms as he tightened his grip and pulled her slightly over to him so that she stumbled in his direction.

His voice had taken on another octave when he spoke next, and Chohee swore she had never heard anything ier.

“Because I’m frustrated,” he started with a growl and raked his other hand through his hair, messing the gel up but it didn’t matter because he looked even hotter “I’m angry, annoyed, irritated, I can’t stand it anymore. Because Chohee, I…”

But then the look was gone. His eyes had changed, and he threw her arm away like it had burned him. Chohee blinked in shock as the boy before her started pacing with his hands twisting through his black locks in frustration. Snorting in amusement and crossing her arms over her chest, she let her eyebrow tug up slightly and watched him. Somehow, she had guessed what he had wanted to say and part of her had wished that he did it quickly and coolly like a man would’ve done so. But no, Jungkook was by far the most chicken of boys she had ever met.

And she knew that was why she liked him so much

“You what?” Chohee asked dryly, halting Jungkook’s movements. His eyes widened and he bit his lip in nervousness, suddenly finding a great interest in the laces of his shoes.

“You what, Jungkook?” she made sure to repeat it very clearly so that the boy wouldn’t miss anything out.

It looked like all the fire that was burning within Jungkook’s inner core had disappeared, leaving him weary and not sure of himself. It was cute in a way, how his eyes kept darting from one place to the other and watching everything and anything but the girl in front of him. He was avoiding the subject and Chohee damn well knew it. That was one of his flaws; he always tried running away when an obstacle would present itself in front of him.

“I-I….I-I-I l-l-l-…..”

“I guess you don’t have anything to say then, too bad” She let a small smirk plant itself on her face and turned away, starting to walk back in the direction of the school when footsteps resounded onto the pavement behind her, before she felt arms suddenly wrapping themselves around her in a protective embrace.

She yelped at the sensation, and then blushed upon realizing the situation in which they were found. Jungkook….Jungkook was hugging her! Her!

Her palms felt clammy with sweat, her body was tense and her heartbeat was beating like it never had before, she felt breathless but excited at the same time. Was this the effect of being in love? Did the turmoil inside her stomach normal?

“I-I love you!” He cried before burying his face in the crook of her neck in embarrassment, ears flaming with red as he gritted his teeth together. He couldn’t believe it, after all those years he was confessing to someone, and it had never felt so relieving before. A great weight got lifted off his chest, and all that occurred to him at this instant was the fact that Chohee’s scent had never felt and smelled so comforting before. He wanted to bury himself closer and hug her to bits.

A small smile spread on Chohee’s face.

“I love you too” She replied finally after a long beat of silence.

“What?” Jungkook blinked and turned her around once again, holding on to her shoulders “you’re kidding me, right?”

“No Jungkook”

“Oh my god!” Without any hesitation, he crushed her to his chest and sighed in relief “Thank god!”

Chohee laughed “Thank god?”

“I-I didn’t know that you l-“ He blocked onto the word and scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. “ I didn’t know that about you too”

“Well now you do”

Hani the hem of her dress and sighed once again. Hs ewatched everybody out on the dancefloor, girls giggling and the boys wearing embarrassed smiles as the couples twirled round and round in their own happy bubbles. She wanted to be happy as well, but no one seemed to have invited her to dance. She had denied the hand of a few unknown boys because the only one whom she wanted to see was out there with his own woman, hips slowly moving to the dance. It hurt to see them so happy, so filled with the joy she wanted to grasp with her own two hands. Soa looked the perfect picture of an innocent lamb as she looked up at her boyfriend and Hoseok took this chance to press a chaste kiss upon her lips. The jealousy coursed like lightning through Hani’s body and her hands proceeded to clench onto her dress in desperation and slight annoyance.

He didn’t even greet her a hello.

It hurt to be ignored.

Especially by him.

“Hani! You’re not dancing?” One of the queenkas suddenly screamed into her ear. When she turned, she noticed the whole group standing there with hands on their hips with their cups poised like ladies going to a tea party.

“No Haeryung. What about you?” She shifted her lips into a smile even though all she wanted was to scurry away with her tail between her legs. It just reminded her that she was utterly alone.

“Nah, I’m waiting for my boyfriend he went to the bathroom” she giggled in her fake high-pitched voice that made Hani want to gag.

“Ah, that’s good that you got yourself a date!”

“I know right! And he’s like, sooo sweet! Where’s your date?”

“I didn’t come with one. I prefer going alone” Hani forced a smirk onto her face “Don’t want to give those boys hope now, do we?”

“Hahaha you’re so funny!”

It wasn’t even supposed to be funny, Hani fumed behind her pleasant-like face expression. Sometimes, Haeryung could be such a .

But what about you? A small voice echoed inside her mind and nagged at her.

Before she could wallow herself in her own sorrow and find an excuse to ignore Haeryung who was at her side mocking someone else from the dance floor, a hand proclaimed itself in front of her, and she couldn’t resist gasping when she caught sight of the man standing in front of her with a slight grin on his face.

Namjoon, my savior, she thought to herself, allowing a soft smile to dangle onto her lips.

“Can I have this dance?”

She would’ve said no if she had been all alone. But the whole queenka group was watching with prowling, hungry gazes, and plus this was her chance to escape. She could get away from them! From Haeryung and her countless gossiping! So without another thought Hani reached out to slip her hand into his as they slinked onto the dance floor between the couples. Namjoon’s grip was strong and firm as his fingers lay over hers. He had long fingers, she remarked to herself, like someone who played the piano.  They could even fold in on hers if he wanted to, as her own were short and small. He turned her around when they reached the dance floor and placing one of her hands onto his shoulder and the other in his grip, they slowly started swaying back and forth to the music.

“I don’t understand you, Kim Namjoon”

He gazed at her with mild curiosity, “What do you mean?”

“You should’ve left me alone” She let him twirl her around.

“You’re seriously pushing me away when I’m trying to help you?” He asked as he clasped her hand into his again. They made a slow circle and seemed somewhat to stand out in the commodity of couples since they were the first not to be dancing so intimately.

“Help?” She let out a snort “What are you helping me for?”

“Helping you realize, isn’t it?” His gaze hardened suddenly “All your mistakes”

“If you think I’m going to apologise,” Hani didn’t hesitate to lift her chin upwards and gaze at him, as if challenging him to defy her, “Then you’re wrong. She deserves whatever she got”

“And do you think you deserve this for whatever you’ve done to her?” He challenged back with a clipped tone.

They weren’t dancing any more, practically standing there staring at each other and trying to shoot each other down. If one was to look at them now, they might have been mistaken as a couple fighting. But it was far from it, and Hani gritted her teeth together in irritation. She didn’t need all this useless drama, and Namjoon was making it harder for her to move on from the guy she liked the most by bringing up the past again and again.

“I just…” Looking away because his stare was making it difficult for her to think, she bit her lip in annoyance, practically grinding her flesh with her teeth. She gulped down a sudden wave of emotion that washed over her, “I just wanted Hoseok to stay. Hoseok…he understood me, he loved me when no one did”

Namjoon only regarded her coolly “You’re selfish to think that he would love you forever”

“Stop it!” Suddenly, all the patience was gone. Her voice had rose up a notch, and if it hadn’t been for the loud music everyone would’ve surely stopped and stared hard at her. She pushed him away with all her might and managed to stumble back a few steps from him, “Stop butting into my business!”

“Then stop having delusions” He snapped, finally giving in to his own frustration, “Stop thinking that he’ll come back. Can’t you see how happy he is with Soa? Can’t you leave them alone?”

“I can’t” She let out a small sob, “I can’t let her have him! If she does…then…then I can’t live anymore!”

“You’re such a drama queen” Namjoon hissed.

“Shut up! What do you know about me?! Why are you criticizing me when you don’t know my own story!? Are you really sticking up for that little ?!”

“And what if I am?”

Letting out a laugh at his answer, she only shook her head in response, as a smirk appeared across her face “You’re really naïve, Namjoon”

And she walked away once more, leaving him with more questions than he has started with.

Soa would’ve skipped back home if she had been all alone, but since Hoseok had threatened into kissing her to death if she wouldn’t agree to him accompanying her, then she had had to comply. But that didn’t mean that her mood was wasted. She was rolling across the moon, zooming past all the planets and twirling through the stars. The night had been magical, just like she imagined prom to be, and her 14-year old self couldn’t possibly stay aloof and hidden this time. It was like a fairytale; something that would only happen to very good-hearted people and Soa had never felt so lucky in her own life. Granted, she had never felt so lucky about having Hoseok. She promised to herself that she would never ever take him for granted, because he was part of the cause for the 360-degree change in her life.

And she liked it.

She was almost too happy that the big bag slung over Hoseok’s shoulder had went unnoticed by her, and it was only when they had reached her doorstep that she blinked twice at him.

“I’m staying over”

It wasn’t even a question or a mere proposition. It was just a flat out statement that Soa couldn’t deny. For a second, she gaped at him with her jaw falling open.
“What?” She didn’t bother hiding the bewildered look in her eyes “No, you’re not”

“Who says?” He furrowed his brows. His frown is cute, she noticed absentmindedly.

“I am”

“I’m still staying over” A smirk proceeded to dance across his lips like a Cheshire cat playing with it’s prey, and Soa was confused whether to take it as dangerous or just playful.

“No you can’t” She put both hands upon his chest and pushed. Hard. It didn’t even faze him, Hoseok knew what was waiting for him because this was Soa for god’s sake. He only chuckled because it was adorable the fact that her strength was as weak as a small mouse trying to get away.

“Why not?” He suddenly jutted out his lower lip into a pout, and she had to blink twice. Did he just…she was appalled as to how he could be so y and mysterious one moment then the next act like a ing cute baby, it was confusing to her especially when her she couldn’t keep her concentration focused.

“B-Because…” She took a step back when he leaned in closer, invading her personal space “I-It’s w-wrong”

“What’s wrong?” Hoseok raised a brow “I was just going to innocently sleep on the couch and innocently watch TV. Were you perhaps…thinking of something else?”

That’s it, he was so teasing, and she wanted to hurl something at him for thinking so ersely. Of course she had to think of the possibility that he would take advantage of the situation, but not because she didn’t trust him.

On the contrary, she didn’t trust her.

“And anyway, we already slept together once, twice won’t make a diff-“ She clamped a hand upon his mouth with a warning glare on her face, to which he rolled his eyes in reply. Silently, she opened the door and proceeded to the bathroom without looking back at him because she knew that he had won the battle. He was going to sleep here tonight whether she liked it or not.

Running her hand under the cold tap water, she took a hold of her brush, squirted some toothpaste and started brushing her teeth boredly. It wasn’t long before the door creaked open and Hoseok took his place beside her, brushing his own teeth.

They looked like a married couple, Soa realized. A dusty blanket of rose settled onto her cheeks with the thought hanging in the back of her mind, and she quickly spat out the foam and washed so that the boy wouldn’t notice her red face ablaze with the fire burning within her chest. He’d probably about it, she thought to herself.

Going back to her room, she closed the door and started changing into her pyjama. The night had been long and her feet ached from too much dancing, but she was happy. Happy that she could experience it with someone she loved dearly. Speaking of love…J-Hope had never told her face to face that he loved her. She was aware that he held deep affections for her, and already she was a blushing mess every time she was near him, god knows how she would react once the boy would say those three words. Still, it would’ve been good for it to come out of his mouth once in a while.

But Hoseok was a cold person; someone that didn’t show his feelings that easily and she understood him. She wasn’t going to pressure him into doing anything if he didn’t feel like it.

She was in the middle of putting on her shirt, her body bare to the slight cold when a voice froze her movements, “What the ing hell-“

Hoseok closed the door with a bang before Soa could see his face, which was burning a dazzling shade of red. His breath was coming out in soft pants and his heartbeat was racing against the minutes. My god, he thought to himself as he grabbed onto his black locks and pulled, my ing god. She was hot in those undergarments; even in they were plain black. He wasn’t about to deny the turn-on it was for him, but it was so wrong! So so wrong to think that way when Soa’s mind was only one of an inexperienced 14 year old’s. He wasn’t about to take advantage of that, ever.

But that body…those creamy thighs…that stomach he wished to pepper with kisses…He clenched his knuckles till they turned a deathly white.

He decided that sitting onto the couch and switching on the tv would be a good distraction, and so he did. But not even the sweet voices of Apink singing to “Mr Chu” were enough to pry his thoughts away from Soa’s body. Rubbing his temples, J-Hope tried in vain to force him forget about everything.

It was a while before the sound of the door was heard opening again. Slowly and tentatively, Soa sat down next to him while keeping at a distance. She too had been traumatized by the event.

She had even brought a pillow that she hugged to herself in attempt of protection. I wouldn’t work against him and she knew it damn well.

“Yah” He leaned over and pressed his face against her shoulder, feeling her stiffen for a moment before hesitatingly relaxing. “You smell good”

“I always smell good” She snorted snobbishly.

He rolled his eyes “that’s what you think”

“I don’t think I know so-yah!” He pulled her into his lap in a swift movement and before she could run away, entangled his arm around her middle so that her legs parted on each side, her knees pressing onto the sofa.

When he looked in her eyes, they held a somber nervous light, like she was scared of something happening. But he wasn’t about to lose control of himself, not when she wasn’t ready. It hadn’t even crossed his mind to even go beyond the boundaries he was given.

Twirling a strand of hair around his finger, he whispered to her “I’m not going to do anything you don’t like, Soa”

Upon hearing those words, her body relaxed slightly, only to stiffen again when he placed a hand at the back of her neck to bring her closer to him. The heat coming from his body was extraordinary, impossible, almost burning her. He smelt like mysteriousness and darkness and chocolate mixed all at once, like a drug she was addicted to sniffing. His thumb brushed over her neck to push off her hair off her shoulder as it tumbled down her back.

Her hands turned into fists and crumpled up his t-shirt.

He pressed a soft kiss onto her lips. Then another, and another.

The kisses only got longer, harder, and deeper.

It seemed that with every kiss, Soa got more and more confidence, practically leaning upwards to meet his mouth as they danced along and passed secret messages to each other. His hands travelled down slowly to cup her derriere, eliciting a small whimper at the back of . Hoseok groaned in response and slid down to her neck, to her collarbone where he led onto the new patch of skin that appeared to him. A small mewl fell from Soa’s lips and unconsciously she squirmed upon his lap, rubbing her warmth against his own. The action only caused him to le more aggressively, nicking and biting at her collarbone while she relished into the sounds he made, showing her approval by curling her hands around his arms and squeezing.

Before she even had time to think, the boy had lifted her up in his arms- his hold still on her - and brought her over to her room. He threw her onto her bed and crawled in right after.

Panic started rising inside her chest, “H-Hoseok,  Y-You said-“

He kissed her softly this time before throwing the blanket upon them and twisting their limbs together. “Let’s sleep”

That had taken Soa by surprise.

But then her eyes narrowed into slits “I thought you said you were sleeping on the couch”

“I changed my mind”

She turned away from him to lay on her side, but he backhugged her and pressed her against his chiseled chest. Her hair at the back of her neck stood on end when his breath rolled over her. it felt like electricity was coursing through her body and pumping her blood so that it was beating like one of a hummingbirds.

“Your heart’s beating so fast” he remarked as he kissed the back of her neck softly, leaving an electric tingle there.

“S-Shut up! Pabo Hoseok” She scoffed.

Chuckling, the boy leaned over her and kissed her cheek softly, “Sleep now”
