Growing Up

Drawing the Line

3 years later

It was just a matter of time until Soa decided to major into children psychologt when she entered university. Having always enjoyed languages and being quite proficient in English, she decided to become a language therapist and translator for children, and had been over the moon when the university in question had given her a 50% scholarship. Time flew by and flowers withered and bloomed, but did little to change their relationship. Although their schedules didn’t permit them to meet regularly, she decided that it was better than nothing, and sacrifices had to be made sometimes. The only thing that comforted her was the fact that no matter how much time they spent apart, it felt like home the moment she stepped into his arms and embraced his frame against hers. This was where she belonged, where she had her place. With Hoseok by her side, her heart was at peace and there was no way she’d ever question her identity when he was at her side.

When she started an internship at a primary school as a psychologist, Hoseok had permanently taken the dance teacher’s spot, and it overjoyed him when his cousin decided to get him off work earlier in order to attend his schedules. Luckily enough, since the Soa’s primary school students were also Hoseok’s apprentices, she’d catch a glimpse of him going into their classes every week. If he finished early that day, he’d always come over to visit her at her desk and they’d relish in that small amount of time where no words were needed, only the warmth of his hand against hers, thumb running along the back of her hand.

They had never really talked of marriage throughout all the years they’d been together, which was why it came as a surprise when one hectic Friday – the day just before their anniversary- when she had been busy putting clothes into the laundry basket after a long day at work, she’d heard the door click open which signaled his arrival. Friday was the only day of the week where both of them could have the night off, and they’d usually spend it by watching movies or playing video games against each other, as well as use most of these cuddle sessions.

She was so concentrated in putting the right amount of powder in the laundry machine that it she hadn’t expected his arms snaking around her waist. He placed his head on the back of her shoulder with his lips grazing slightly at the exposed skin as a sign of hello, and Soa had to do everything in her power not to sigh in bliss.

“You’re back early,” She noted.

She felt his head nod against her back, and continued on with pouring the powder and placing the packet back onto the shelf. He was silent, heart beating amusingly fast for someone so still, and for a minute she had been concerned, “Is something wrong?” she asked, not too sure of the situation and not having glimpsed his face.

Silence was the only thing that answered her. Blinking in confusion, she was about to turn around when he didn’t permit her to. Instead, his grip tightened and in the blink of an eye, had taken her hand into his huge palms before slipping something in her finger.

Soa looked down at the glinting silver band wrapped around a small, encrusted diamond shimmering at each slight flicker, and fell open.

Was that- what she thought it was?

Her brain was wiped blank for a few seconds, not really knowing how to react at the ring that decorated her phalange. The only thing she could do was stare at it so intently it was a miracle she hadn’t burnt it to ashes yet, and when realization dawned, she felt her pulse suddenly jump through her body as her heartbeats accelerated. The heat moved up towards her face and flushed over her cheeks like paint spilling over paper.

The sudden burst of emotion within her chest was enough to render her speechless, clogged up with the unknown words overwhelming her unspoken feelings.

Behind her, the boy said nothing, only tightened his grip and hid his face in her back, for fear of whatever reaction he was waiting for.

“I-“ Her breath caught and she gulped; biting her lips so hard it imprinted marks, “Hoseok, what is that?”

Still, no words left Hoseok’s lips as she kept staring at the wall before her not really seeing anything at all. Her gaze kept alternating between fluttering back to the winking diamond and the wall in a slight daze. Not believing that it was actually happening, her index finger traced the outline of the ring and held a breath when she felt the cold and smooth texture of the metal come into contact with her skin. It might just have been a mere object to anyone else, but to her, it meant the world.

Finally, after a long stagnant pause, Hoseok shuffled and pressed his lips against the tip of her ear:

“Will you marry me?”

His whisper was soft feathers gracing her skin, dropping down octaves she seldom knew existed, and with so much intensity of emotion, of affection in his tone that her eyes watered. Was he really asking her? Or was she just dreaming? Could this be just her and her stupidly wild imagination running in all directions away from sanity? But no, the ring on her finger was so tangible it was impossible for it not to be real.

Marriage.

Marriage, with Hoseok.

Being married, finally settling down and living her life with him forever, until death did them apart.

She was totally ready for that, and in the depths of her heart, had always been.

Slowly, as if comprehending the situation, her head dipped down one time into a nod, not trusting herself with words yet. She felt his breath halt for a second, body stilling completely, before with a swift movement, he turned her around so that she could finally gaze at his face.

His eyes were burning with a brightness that could outshine the stars twinkling in a night sky, and his mouth drew back into a genuinely breathtaking grin that blew her heart away. Leaning his forehead slightly onto hers, he murmured a soft ‘thank you”

She perceived the hopes of their future in his eyes; a dimension holding their own constellations and dreams of what might become of them, and when she noticed how much space his orbs was filled with that happiness to share with her, opened on it’s accord to let out a muted sob. She was overwhelmed by emotion crashing through her body, running through her veins and pulsing in between her heartstrings.

Their wedding was a simple and intimate one, but that didn’t mean it had engraved itself inside the depths of her mind. Soa knew she’d never forget that special day where she sealed the vows and became his wife. It was weird, calling her Jung Soa, but the thrill of seeing the marriage papers and their initials at the bottom claiming their bond for life got a shiver to trace it’s finger down her spine. They managed to buy a larger penthouse not very far away from where Soa had lived at first, and since both were very nostalgic to leave Soa’s flat behind, they’d decided to buy a bigger, more spacious one that reminded her of it. At least the memories of what had been her sanctuary would still linger there, in that similar flat, although not identical.

Some might have wondered what happened to the rest of the individuals in the story. It was found shortly after their marriage that Saerim and Mr.Kang had had to move away due to his business, away for good in Japan, where they’d start a new life over there. When Soa had heard, she didn’t know whether to be relieved or remorseful of her actions, she hadn’t even gotten the chance to exchange goodbyes, but according to Hoseok, it had been for the best and the better. After all, she had to look forward, not backwards.

Chohee and Jungkook on the other hand had started renting out a flat just underneath their’s, and the coolest thing about this arrangement was that whenever the boys weren’t home, the girls managed to have some girl quality time filled with giggles and laughter. Chohee had decided to go into a Karate Major, her passion of fighting stronger than ever, though her boyfriend was the most worried one out of the two whenever she’d return beaten up and exhausted. Jungkook on the other hand followed his dreams of being an artist, taking in an Arts Major and graduating with a full degree before opening his own studio. Soon after, the boy received a proposal to work on a movie production as the décor and performance designer in which he was ecstatic to participate in. Soa was grateful to both of them and in most particular Chohee, for she never knew what would’ve happened if she had stopped the girl’s advances or friendship. Where would they have been now? But the latter had become one of her bestest friends, with whom she shared every single detail of her life. It was amazing how much they clicked, and yet, still left Soa somehow puzzled. It was good and refreshing change from what she had experienced before, because she knew that Chohee wouldn’t ever turn her back on her. She had proven it once; there was no need for more validation.

Soon after graduating, Namjoon was hired to become an editor of a publishing house, but that didn’t mean he stopped there. He opened up his own coffee shop after that specifically made for writers and poets, and he himself worked for days on end when work was slow on his novel series, where the first book had already been released. It was quite popular in their country, and Soa could be no prouder of his success. On the other hand, Hani was scouted by a modeling agency and was successfully leading a good life filled with photo shoots and catwalks. She was far from being one of the tops, but she did have a large fancafé that was growing day by day. They continued dating even through her busy schedules, and found happiness in each other’s comfortable presence. It was like they were made for each other, as even when no word was exchanged, one could possible feel the electricity binding those two individuals.

At last, it seemed as if things started falling into place, where they belonged.

Rain was pelting hard on the windowpanes when Soa’s eyes fluttered open, lazily taking in her surroundings with a dim, hazy mind. The wind was hissing in harmony outside, the air having a melody of it’s own with the rhythm of raindrops splattering onto the roof above. Everything was so normal and in place that it didn’t occur anything bizzare to Soa before her gaze had fluttered down only to stay there, maroon orbs wide and open with shock. Ever since they’d bought a flat together, they decided to buy an even bigger bed that could fit both of them, and although she had been one heck of an embarrassment the first night they had to sleep in the same space, Hoseok had comforted her that he would never even hurt a single strand of hair on her head, and had kept his word until last night.

Although they had been married for quite some months now, they still hadn’t gone all the way mainly due to the lack of time and tiredness. He might have controlled himself if she hadn’t so, but on the other hand, they had returned home quite tipsy from a party late at night, and were both under the influence of alcohol; not drunk enough to blackout, but enough to arouse the right hormones at the right time.

As the girl gulped and dragged her eyes back down to the figure lying on her bosom, she noted Hoseok’s ruffled black hair and the peaceful way in which his face was tilted to the side, ear pressed against her wildly drumming heart. His hands were wrapped around her waist so tightly it might have been considered scandalous, and their legs were intertwined like vines over a bark tree. Oh, it might have seemed totally normal, but not when she felt his skin at every single spot their bodies came into contact. It was flesh against flesh; warm and real and smooth to the touch, igniting soft tingles of warmth all over her body. Her heartbeat quickened as she bit her lip, feeling the all-too-familiar blush settle over her cheeks like pale rose dust. She felt like squirming and hiding away at once from the compromising position, and her brain was ticking like time bombs with her scattered, panicked thoughts. The confident and bold Soa from the night before was merely reduced to an innocent maiden in the morning. She suddenly gasped upon remembering a familiar scene flash before her eyes, knocking the breath out of her lungs.

“H-Hoseok” Soa’s moan came out as a breathy whine when the man’s thumb brushed delicately over her exposed , hardening against the cool air of the room. His mouth compressed to her neck, he led some more and bit back a chuckle at the continuous sounds emitted from which she tried so hard to restrain by biting the inside of her cheek. His hands slowly traveled along her torso down to her waist before curling his fingers over the material of her jeans, squeezing slightly in anticipation. The girl’s own hands worked on ing his shirt, shaking slightly from the inexperience and nervousness. She wished he hadn’t seen and yet Hoseok knew too well, chuckling softly before grabbing her hand and pressing the tip of her fingers against his mouth. He kissed them lightly while watching her with a soft gaze, “Are you scared?”

She shook her head no, but no matter how much she lied, he could read her as easily as an open book, and partly because she was shaking like a prey standing in front of it’s predator.

“Soa” he drew her name like a caress, cupping her cheek, “we can do this another time-“

“Are you really going to be like this now?” Soa cut him off with a mumble, looking at him straight in the eye. One might have been intimidated but he found it quite hot, to be honest. It was so rare that Soa’s feline femininity came into play, and he was even more surprised to find her arms weaving around his neck and drag him down to her, kissing him like her life depended on it.

Soa’s face was flaming red, and it didn’t help matters when she felt Hoseok’s head move slightly. She held her breath, hoping against hope that maybe he was in too deep of a sleep to notice the change in her heart beats, and sighed in relief when he was still again. There was a dull sensation in between her legs and she thought that maybe it would be better for her to get out of bed and freshen up in order to compose herself before he could gain consciousness and mercilessly.

Biting her lip, she started heaving herself up in a sitting position when the man’s grip tightened at her middle, drawing her back and heaving a contented sigh. Great, Soa thought with annoyance, how the hell was she supposed to get herself out of his grasp if he was going to hug her like a gigantic pillow

She tried again, this time moving with firmer strength, in vain. He tugged her down and did the unthinkable that caused her to blush to her toes. He nuzzled his nose into the space between her s while Soa bit back a gasp.

Was he doing this on purpose?! She felt like screaming.

“Good morning”

She squealed in shock, before looking down to find Hoseok smirking at her, chin between her s, “I presume you slept well?”

“G-Get off of me!” Too embarrassed beyond words, the girl managed to grab a pillow to hide her face, pressing her nose adamantly in the fluffy cotton just to avoid his teasing orbs. Hoseok only chuckled in amusement, hands rubbing circles on her back and keeping his eyes on her hidden face so that she felt the intensity of his stare.

Soon enough, she peeked out from underneath the pillow and snapped out a soft “What?”

She said it so viciously and in such an annoyed tone that he couldn’t resist bursting into laughter at her reaction.

She was even more embarrassed, burying her face into the pillow and groaning, “Stop it!”

“I didn’t do anything” he replied, hands traveling up her sides and brushing against her s lightly before returning back to her hips, keeping them in a firm grasp so that no escape was available.

She gasped at the sensation of his palms all over her body, struggling to keep her sanity that was on the brink of running away, “I’m serious, get o-off” she tried acting cold and authoritative, but it did little to deter him for he crawled upwards and dipped down to drop a kiss at her collarbone.

Yah!” She yelled into the pillow, still too embarrassed to look at him in the face. Chuckling some more at her cute reactions, the boy continued to pepper a bunch of butterfly kisses along her shoulder up to her neck, emitting a slight groan from the girl, muffled by the pillow when another image flashed behind her eyes.

Moans kept spilling from like a waterfall when the man kept biting and at her inner thigh, so dangerously close to her core while his fingers moved up and down to caress the skin there. As he drew away, Soa was about to sigh in relief when he suddenly skimmed his fingers in between her legs, causing her to mewl at the heat pulsing from the center and calling out to him tantalizingly. He couldn’t help himself from biting his lips and gulping down the saliva at the perfect picture she presented.

Slowly, Hoseok slid down her underwear and threw it to the side, gazing at her dripping core as if he was a painter gazing for the first time at his masterpiece. He leaned over before pressing his palm against her , surprised when she moaned out loud; a real moan, too spontaneous for it to have been held in.

He was the reason for all her sinful sounds, and would gladly be the only one to make her sound this way, feel this way.

A smirk played over his lips and his tongue lashed out to her.

Soa moaned in ecstasy and squirmed, her senses going on overdrive at his touch and wanting to get away by squeezing her legs together, in vain. He parted her legs firmly with his hands and continued his ministrations, tongue darting in an out occasionally while the girl thrashed beneath him, fireworks exploding behind her eyelids and blood pumping to that region and warming her up, heating her body on fire in places she never knew existed before.

“Soa” he murmured, lips unconsciously turning into a pout when she kept hiding her face from him. His leg slid in between hers and the girl gasped at the friction of his skin against her own, feeling the soft jolts of electricity run up and down along her nerves and causing sparks to alight beneath her eyelids.

He peered over the barrier stopping him from relishing in the blush she was surely sporting over her cheeks, “why are you even hiding?”

“Because’ she replied.

“Because what?”

“Just because!” She squirmed into the pillow and he sighed, knowing full well why she didn’t want to look at him in the face. Apart from his boxers, he was fully exposed and so was she, except that the main difference was that Soa had literally no clothing, and that was the reason as to why she couldn’t face him watching her body although she had willingly given herself to him last night.

Spotting his white shirt at the edge of the bed, he grabbed it along with her and with his other hand, threw the pillow away to see a red-faced Soa gaze up at him with an adorably confused and horrified expression on her face. She was about to open and say something when he didn’t give her the time to; lifting her up and passing his already half buttoned shirt over her head before buttoning up the rest so that she wasn’t as exposed anymore.

Then, taking a hold of her legs, he slid her underwear up to her thighs before lifting her hips slightly for it to fit. The girl only stared, perplexed and more than a little taken aback by his surprising actions. He might have been a y beast last night, but his sweetness would always throw her over the edge.

“Feel better?” he mumbled as he pulled her against him again and nuzzled his nose into her neck, one hand curling around her waist to bring her closer while the other dropped onto her thigh and started a slow, sensual massage.

She nodded mutely, flushing a darker shade of red, ‘T-Thanks’

Hoseok chuckled despite himself, “And yet, you were the complete opposite last night”

“S-Shut up!” she looked away, “I was drunk okay? Stop judging!”

“Oh I’m not” a smirk slid onto his face when he nuzzled her cheek with his nose, “I’m just stating the truth”. His legs tangled up in between hers and she couldn’t help but feel his hardness against her thigh, blushing all the more when the realization of it hit her in the face.

His hand shifted to the soft skin under her shirt (his shirt), travelling up and down dangerously close to her bosom, “Cute”

“Stop calling me that!”

“Cute” he repeated and pecked her lips. Soa pulled her face away and made a face, hiding the butterflies but knowing that he could still sense her drumming heart.

His mouth found hers again, tongues tangling together as he momentarily sent her off to another planet. Her muffled gasp caused the boy to smirk into the kiss as his hand lingered dangerously close to her chest. She stilled in his arms as if any other movement might kill her.

“H-Hoseok…ah~” She couldn’t finish her sentence when a mewl strained through , impulsively arching her body towards him when he shifted his lips to her ear and nibbling slightly on the edge.

Soa pushed him back, unable to deal with all the mixed emotions that were raging inside of her; from the tingles to the electrical sizzles running up and down her spine. But as she leaned away, the boy moved forward, mouth not leaving the patch at her ear so soon and his hand teasingly brushing over her .

“W-Wait, yah” her protests were covered once he molded his lips to hers, shutting off her protests.

The girl, knowing that he wouldn’t stop if he continued, reached out to fondle his ear to restrain him. It startled him, for he suddenly threw his head back and groaned in appreciation.

He breathed in and out shakily, their gazes locking as he reluctantly gave up, ‘okay okay, I’ll stop’

Satisfied, Soa let him scoop her in his arms with her head on his chest, feeling the soft beatings of his heart calm her down from her blush and own racing heart.

When he murmured once again, his lips were pressed to her temple, “Does it hurt?”

Soa paused. Well, she hadn’t really felt anything, but for him to ask it in such a straightforward way…. she buried her head in his chest in response, meeping slightly.

Hoseok’s brow rose, “I don’t understand that language”

She mumbled incomprehensible words, muffled against his chest and he sighed before shaking his head and tilting her chin upwards. His maroon orbs were glinting with amusement and affection, both emotions causing her heart to swell in happiness, “It’s fine” She mumbled, “I haven’t really tried walking yet”

“You better get used to it” He answered so casually and with such a poker face that she looked over at him up in alarm, like a dear running through the headlights, and he couldn’t help but chuckle at her wide adorable orbs.

He started playing with her hair, twisting a lock around his finger absentmindedly while they stayed in a comfortable silence, hearing the rain beat down on the window panes in a soothing lullaby and cherishing this moment they had alone, together.

But then, Soa’s thoughts quickly jumped to the fact that they were in the middle of the week, and that her job would be starting in- her head turned to catch a glimpse of the clock: 7h already!

“Oh ” she cursed and moved away from Hoseok, unfortunately feeling his warmth disappear as she slowly got to her feet. Her boyfriend only blinked and frowned at her in confusion, scratching the back of his head, “Where are you going?”

“Work starts at 8 o’clock” She turned with an amused face “ I’m going to be late”

He groaned, “screw work, come back here” and would have snatched onto her waist if she had not moved away just in time, only to feel her legs collapse underneath her as she sprawled onto the floor, her core throbbing with a weird sensation that stopped her from walking properly. She gasped at the foreign feeling, blinking before biting her lip and trying to heave herself up.

A pair of arms wound around her waist to pull her to her feet, “Here, I got you”

Hoseok’s chest pressed against her back, the girl leaning onto him for support as she waited for the throb to go away and chanting a string of curses in her brain. How could she be so careless?! No, how could she have known that it would have resulted this way?! For god’s sake, how many times had they done it last night?!

Unfortunately, the first round was the only thing she could recall in the dimness of her alcohol-induced thoughts last night.

His mouth slid against her shoulder, “See, I told you not to go”

“It’s all your fault” she didn’t hesitate to shoot back, annoyance dripping from her tone. His lips twitched as he laughed before sitting back onto the bed and pulling her over into his lap. Soa rolled her eyes but let him have his way, knowing that he had already won this battle due to his strong grip around her middle that wasn’t about to let go so soon, and also partly because deep inside of her, she really didn’t feel like going to work at all.

As her hands came to a rest upon his chest, she noticed just how much it was defined and well-developed, causing her to stop and stare. Oh sure, she had seen him chest- several times, but had always had the decency to turn around or not stare for too long, as she felt embarrassed by even doing so. Now that it was shoved into her face, how could she not notice? The more she looked, the more she felt her breaths turning shaky with self-control, because goddamn, he had a fine body.

“You’re drooling”

Those two words were enough to snap her out of her daze, “No I’m not” she scoffed and averted her eyes, hand unconsciously reaching up to to see if he was lying.

Hoseok sniggered, “It’s on the other side”

She frowned and let her thumb brush the other corner of her lips, “There’s nothing there”

“Here,” he sighed before leaning in with his hand crawling up to the nape of her neck, “I’ll wipe it”

That was what he said, before she felt his mouth crash down onto hers. She wondered whether this was how all her mornings were going to be, from then onwards.

She could only wish for the best, because there was absolutely no way she’d let anyone come and ruin it all.

She was finally happy, because of him.
