More Than Just Physical

Drawing the Line

Chaeryung scurried out of the kitchen with burning cheeks, feeling that she had interrupted a magical moment. She hadn’t known that they were dating! It was a very shocking site to see! She shook her head and her thoughts flew about in her brain, placing a hand on her heart in an attempt to calm it’s rhythmic, pulsing beatings. When she looked up again, she noticed a certain platinum blonde leaning by the living room doorway with an impassive, somewhat cold expression on his face.

“You don’t look fine” He grunted, pushing himself off the wall to stand in front of her.

Chaeryung blushed once more upon remembering what exactly had caused her to be this flustered, and even more since Yoongi had caught her a her worst, “I-I’m okay” She murmured, and unconsciously tucked her hair behind her ear in an action of nervousness.

She changed the topic by asking timidly then, “I-I didn’t know that you and Chohee were friends”

When Yoongi looked down at her and noticed her fingers twitching over the material of her sweater, he had a sudden urge to take her fingers into his and give them the warmth they deserved, as they looked cold and fragile-looking, so small, he mused to himself. He almost didn’t catch her sentence and had to process it once again in order to reply a gruff “Well now you know”

He winced inwardly and wanted to slap himself for acting so cold and mean to her. But instead, the opposite effect occurred for Chaeryung’s lips curled into a soft, timid smile, “I-I’m glad I got to see you again”

That took him by surprise and he raised his eyebrows. The girl only giggled and answered, “It’s been a-a while, h-hasn’t it?”

Oh, she was talking about not seeing him at school, what were you thinking? He cursed inside his mind, that she missed you? Yeah right. You have no chance with her buddy, nothing.

He only grunted in response, suddenly not really liking where this conversation was going. So he his heels back towards the living room where the movie was starting and muttered something along the lines that they should go sit and watch the movie. Chaeryung nodded and walked by him when he stepped aside so that she could go first, and nothing could have prepared him for a whiff of her scented hair that smelt like soft lilac and lavender, he felt like he was walking in a garden filled with those particular flowers, his nose crinkling impulsively for more.

Oh, if only he could just grab her and drown his soul in her sweet essence. If only.

“Yoongi”

This time, he whipped his head up at Jin, who sported a huge, -eating grin on his face. Nothing would have made Suga happier than to slap it off, maybe. There was a certain wriggle in his eyebrows and he knew that the older boy was definitely taking this to his advantage to .

“So, when do you plan on making your move?” Jin teased.

Suga closed his eyes briefly to calm himself, then re-opened them to glare at his friend, “ off”

“Well, if you’re going to be a coward about it, then better leave the chance to someone else,” Then he added something that caused Yoongi’s heart to drop, “someone like me”

“What?” He hissed.

Jin doubled over laughing at his expression, and went over to pat him on the shoulder to show that that he was only joking, “It’s a joke, dude. But seriously, she might not be the prettiest of girls nor the most popular but I can tell you, from how I remember it, Chaeryung’s purity did attract a lot of men”

“Are you done?”

“Yup, pretty much” Jin couldn’t resist but smile when he caught sight of Suga stomping his foot on the floor and ruffling his hair like a frustrated kid. He quietly slipped inside the living room and thought that hopefully this would be enough to trigger some kind of action from his part.

But knowing the guy, Suga needed more to spur him on, and that was to make sure that Chaeryung was interested in the first place. As his gaze focused on the said girl at hand, he quickly sat himself down next to her and caused her to stiffen uncomfortably for a moment. She was too cute to resist, Jin chuckled to himself when he noticed how suddenly her body seemed to tilt to the other side, where Chohee was sitting.

“Chaeryung-ah, are you seeing anyone lately?” Jin peered at her face.

“N-No.” The girl shrunk even further, being pushed playfully back by Chohee on the other side, who was well aware of Jin’s little plan and even gave him a thumbs up behind her back.

“I see” Jin nodded with a bright smile, “Do you have a crush then?”

With that, nothing could have prepared him for the small muffled squeak that died in Chaeryung’s throat while two red patches blossomed onto her cheeks. Her eyes were wide, as wide as a baby fawn’s suddenly caught in headlights, and it took everything in Jin not to reach out and pinch her cheek because she was just too damn adorable. He had never thought of Yoongi as one that would crumble under a naïve, pure chamr given that he himself was far from that standpoint, but seeing Chaeryung now, Jin might just understand how even tough Suga’s walls had crumbled.

“I presume that’s a yes” Jin continued with amusement filling his eyes, “so tell me, who’s the lucky guy?’

“J-Jin-ssi, I-I don’t-“ but then, just at that moment, Suga decided to join the said room causing her gaze to fall onto him moving towards a free space, and she looked away as quickly as she could, as if the mere appearance of the boy had burned her eyes. That fleeting movement though did not go unnoticed by Jin, and the older boy just smiled in response. He knew exactly her feelings towards Suga, remembered quite well how she’d cast him quick glances back when they had been in the same high school.

Yoongi hadn’t taken notice of her then, too wrapped up in his passion for music to really care about maintaining relationships. But now that he had entered the university of his dreams was the moment where he started to realize who exactly Chaeryung was.

Jin laid a sympathetic hand on the top of her head, and smiled softly, “It’s okay, I understand”

“H-Huh?” The girl peeked up from underneath her fringe and huge glasses.

“I’ll help you,” He nodded subtly in Suga’s direction, “you like him, right?”

“I-I-“ Not knowing what would save her boat, Chaeryung only lowered her head in resignation and nodded shyly, bangs covering her face and cheeks flaming up in shades of rose.

“She likes who?” Chohee suddenly chirped, bringing back to the reality that they were indeed in a public space, and unlike the rest of them who were too engrossed in the happenings of the movie, Chohee had decided that eavesdropping on their conversation seemed a little bit more interesting than a boring horror movie. Plus, she hated horror movies, not that she was going to tell that to Jungkook for she was pretty sure the guy would take advantage of that weakness.

Chaeryung’s head whipped around, gasping at her words and eyes widening like the world was about to end. Chohee just snickered and ruffled her hair, “It’s okay, Ryung-ie, I won’t say anything I promise. You trust me, right?”

The said girl definitely did not like the way this conversation was going, especially since the main subject of the oh-so-interesting topic laid only just seven feet away. Soon enough, they all turned their attention back to the TV and Chaeryung felt like sighing in relief. She was never one to like being the center of attention, and doing so just caused her to blush and become a stuttering mess.

But what she did not see, on the other hand, was how Suga’s gaze kept flickering back to her; subtle, affectionate glances that said more than he ever would.

“Omma” Was Soa’s first words when she caught sight of a familiar looking face sitting in the nearby coffee shop where she usually worked. But this time, Soa wasn’t here to take on a shift, no, she was here to see her mother. Her loving, beautiful and brave mother, brave enough to have walked away from that house that wasn’t really their house anymore but more like a cold-blood prison impossible to escape.

Hoseok’s hand around hers tightened so suddenly that she yelped, and when her gaze lifted to look at his eyes, the maroon swirls only reflected the nervous breakdown that was mirroring his thoughts. He was afraid and scared of her mother, she realized in a fleeting thought, just like she had been when it had been time to meet his father. Her fingers only tightened their grip on his own when she sent him a shy, timid but comforting smile, as if telling him that everything would be okay as long as he stayed just the way he was, because really, who could resist someone like Hoseok?

“See how I felt when I had to meet your father?” she murmured impulsively when they entered the shop and caught Mrs.Kang’s attention. The woman’s face brightened up like the sun peaking out behind a cloud on a summer’s day, and it appeared to Hoseok how similar they looked to each other. Soa had carried on Mrs.Kang’s beautiful bright smile, as well as the soft crease of her skin just like a dimple. He also remarked the numerous number of beauty marks that Soa had inherited as well, and he could not help but feel the strong motherly daughter bond they possessed.

The lady turned towards Hoseok once she had embraced her daughter, “So this is the boy you were gushing about on the phone”

“No I wasn’t, and you’ve met him before,” Soa protested meekly while her mother came to embrace him on both cheeks, suddenly grabbing onto his shoulders and looking up to inspect him. He felt like a laboratory rat caught up in an experiment, and it didn’t help matters when her lips curved into a smile, “Well Soa” She said after some time, releasing him to tell Soa with shining orbs, “You’ve got yourself quite a handsome fish out at sea”

Soa’s blush rendered him soft with melted goo, his fingers ached to reach out and caress those beautiful scarlet cheeks of hers so bad he had to clench his hands into fists.

They sat down at the table and ordered their drinks, and as they waited, Mrs. Kang folded her arms across her chest and leaned forward with a certain mixture of mischievousness written across her face. It was enough to stir uncertain emotions flickering through the boy in hopes that he’d make good enough of an impression on her mother. After all, this might be the woman who will be waving goodbye to Soa at that altar. What am I thinking, he thought suddenly and mentally hitting himself twice in order to settle his thoughts into place, this was not the time to talk about marriage! They were still young, and had their wholes lives to think about it!

Plus, he wasn’t really sure whether Soa felt the same way; did she love him enough to be bound for life?

Well for the record, he did.

“For how long have you been dating now?” Mrs. Kang asked curiously, head nestled between her hands with her elbows on the table.

Soa fidgeted slightly while replying, “it’s been over 2 years, I think?”

“You think?” Her mother laughed, “Well Soa, I suspect that you guys don’t even know the data when you started going out!”

“W-Well, that’s-“ Soa stuttered, admitting that her mother’s statement was part of a truth she always tried remembering. Whenever asked the question, she would always be at loss with what to say, and come to think of it, they had never really celebrated their date anniversary before, so why start now? It was pretty normal not to either, was what Soa thought.

“The 17th of October” J-Hope stated casually.

Soa’s head snapped to the side to gape at her boyfriend. Great, she was the one losing points in front of her mother, just great.

“Well, now I know who’s the one who’s really into the relationship” her mother joked. Beside her, J-Hope flushed bright red while rubbing the back of his neck uncomfortably. But then, she added a “I’m very glad Soa has you, Hoseok-ssi. You look like a really responsible person. I was scared to let her out on her own after what happened, but it looks like she’s recovered pretty well, and I think it’s partly thanks to you”

He bowed cordially in response, “It’s nothing ma’am. Soa does a lot for me, as well”

Conversation flowed and everything was smooth sailing from there on as Mrs.Kang started speaking about Soa’s past and al the troubles she used to get into, while Hoseok laughed amiably and exchanged his own knowledge of the girl. Somehow, it didn’t really embarrass her much to find her loved ones discussing her personality just like talking about the weather on a summer’s day. The words that spilled from his mouth were nothing less than endearing, and she found herself in awe of the boy. The way he spoke about her really defined the limits of his affections, which looked like they were limitless. She watched him, gazed at his brown maroon orbs that sparkled with a tint of light whenever he grinned or described her behavior, looking amazed by his side profile and the words spilling from his lips.

But then, came the crashing bomb that they hadn’t been expecting in the least when Mrs. Kang leaned over with a mischievous glint and a playful smirk, murmuring softly, “So have you two done…it yet?”

As usual, being the clueless idiot, Soa only blinked in confusion before asking, “Done what?”

Hoseok on the other hand, was another story entirely. The tip of his ears turned bright red as he bit his lip and looked away as if the passing cars in the road beyond as if engrossed by their movement.

Mrs.Kang threw back her head and laughed out loud, “apparently, Hoseok knows all too well what I’m talking about”

One glance at Hoseok’s ears ablaze with red caused Soa’s confusion to heighten. “I-I don’t understand”

“The deed, have you done it? The one that the bees and the flowers do to pollinate?” her mother’s words echoed throughout her skull for a good five seconds before she caught on to their meaning, and immediately a gasp resonated out of her voice box before she bowed down to hide her face behind her curtain of hair. No wonder Hoseok had been blushing like he was hanging over fire stove!

“Omma!” Soa tried to protest although her fire-engine red face did nothing to help matters at hand, “O-Of course we haven’t! What kind of question is this?!”

“Well you know, I thought since you’ve been together for quite some time…” the woman trailed off, shrugging slightly like it was no big deal, “and a lot of youngsters do it nowadays too, so casually.”

“W-well we didn’t, if that’s what you wanted to know” Soa managed to get her way through her stutters.

“Well, I don’t really mind” Mrs. Kang only winked back.

“Omma!”

“The deed, have you done it yet?”

Those simple seven words had been on replay in Soa’s brain ever since they parted, occupying her mind all the way home and even as she stood washing the dishes absentmindedly. It never seemed to have bothered her so much in the past whenever it was brought up, and Hoseok had even comforted her that he would wait until she was ready. But then she started thinking that maybe Hoseok really wanted to do it, although he never told her about it. Maybe he was just controlling his urges, never pushing too far for fear of suddenly losing the control he had over his hormones. He had never mentioned it again, and their maekout sessions never really lingered downwards no more than Soa’s collarbones. Sure, he had slipped his hand up her shirt more than once, but never touched anything more, that was it. If this was the reason why he held back, it all made sense how Hoseok pulled away after some time, and Soa felt a pang of guilt flood her heart. She shouldn’t, she was aware that he was willing to wait, but how much longer would she want him to? He never really based their relationship on their physical intimacy, and yet, it also brought to mind his more than a little lingering touch scorching her skin every time he’d hold her in his arms.

She needed advice, needed it badly.

Maybe Chohee would know what to do. She put down her unwashed dishes, momentarily forgotten before moving to her mobile and pressing in Chohee’s number.

After the third ring, she heard a click in the receiver and a voice replied, “Hello?”

“Chohee” Soa had uttered only a word, and yet it was enough for Chohee to frown at the other end of the line to say, “What’s wrong?”

She chuckled despite herself, “How did you know?”

“You never call for good news,” Chohee reminded her, “that, and the fact that you’re probably twisting the edge of your shirt around your finger”

Soa instantly released her hold on her shirt, “you know me too well”

The other girl chuckled, “So, tell me, what’s been bothering your pretty little mind”

The latter summarized everything from their encounter with her mother to her feelings of uneasiness, glancing towards the bathroom and making sure that J-Hope wasn’t going to barge in on their conversation anytime soon. The water was still dripping on the other side, so the coast was clear. As if being the accused of a crime, Soa turned back towards the kitchen and kept talking in hushed murmurs.

“So, you think he’s keeping this to himself?” Chohee finally concluded.

Soa nodded before realizing that Chohee wasn’t physically here, “Yeah”

“Well, why is it bothering you so much?”

“Because-“ there her finger went again, twisting it in the fabric of her shirt, “I don’t want him to feel like he has to hold back every single time”

“So in other words,”Chohee translated her words in such a way that she could imagine the smirk tilting her lips upwards, “you want him to”

“I-I” A blush blossomed across her face, “I don’t know Chohee, I just- I feel like he’s been waiting for too long. I also want him to feel like I love him as well”

“Well, if you’re scared that he doesn’t think that, just tell him how you feel”

“It’s not that easy”

“Sure it is. Here, “J-Hope oppa I love you” ”

“It’s not so easy-“

“Or is it more like, “J-Hope oppa, I want to have with you” ”

“Yah!” Soa felt like a teapot about to explode, “T-That’s too-“

“So which is it Soa?” Chohee teased, “The former or the latter?”

“I-“ she forced the words out of , out of her heavy heart, “I don’t know how I feel about the whole thing, b-but I trust him, I really do”

‘So in other words, it’s the latter?”

Soa bit her lip, the words failing her at this moment.

Chohee sighed on the other end; “Don’t push yourself if you don’t want to. It’s your choice Soa, I think that he loves you more than just for the . Otherwise, he would’ve imposed it on you already”

She thanked her and ended their call; relieved to have somewhat let off some steam with the friend she counted on. But little did she know that upon turning around, she would find a more than confused and a little annoyed Hoseok standing behind her and leaning onto the kitchen doorway.

Soa gasped, “Since when-“

“Enough to hear everything” His eyes were hard and cold, but then softened when the girl flinched slightly. It was a moment before he sighed and pushed himself off the wall to walk towards the girl. Pressing his hands onto the edge of the kitchen counter, he trapped her in between his body and the table as he bent down to look into her widened eyes.

“Yah” His soft tenor caused a jump in her shoulders, and taking her bottom lip within her teeth once more, Soa gazed back at him bravely, although deep inside her knees were shaking like no other.

His mocha orbs were soft and delicate on her face, “Why are you even worrying yourself about that?”

Her heart felt like it was about to give up at any moment, “I just don’t want you to-“ her gaze slipped away from the intensity of his stare, “I don’t want you to feel like I don’t…love you”

“What did I tell you before?”

Her hands fisted themselves onto the material of her shirt in nervousness. Sometimes, Hoseok really was imposing and scary, especially when his voice dropped down so low she felt herself being swept off her feet. His raspy alto did nothing to deter the sparks of desire clinging to the goosebumps of her skin.

His hand caught her chin and tilted her head upwards so that they were forehead to forehead, no place to hide or escape from whatever feeling swimming through her pupils, “I told you I wasn’t going to do anything you don’t like”

He exhaled softly then, his other hand running through her locks, “I told you I wasn’t going to pressure you into something you’re not ready for”

Then, his palm cupped her cheek, the warmth of his skin traveling over to her already overheated scarlet flesh, “I also told you that I love you just because I don’t need a reason to love you, I don’t need the endless PDA, the endless sweet nothings, the -I don’t need them”

His thumb kept brushing over her cheekbone, in an attempt to qualm all the unnecessary battle prevailing inside her thoughts. Soa sighed before closing her eyes and suddenly resting her head on his shoulder, feeling the depth of his love going way beyond any boundaries she had imagined. Why was he such an understanding and patient individual? She felt like hitting her head with a rock for being so shallow, because obviously J-Hope loved more to her than just the shell she presented him.

“Just because everyone else does it, doesn’t mean we have to as well” He suddenly growled into her hair, “So whatever you’re planning in that little head of yours, you can forget it, alright?”

She decided that staying silent was better than any option she had at this moment, especially if she was going to make a fool out of her ego. Everything he had said; she’d known it before, just felt like she needed the reassurance once in a while, which was why J-Hope was here. But then, that would also be unfair of him, because he was doing everything in his power to make her as comfortable in their relationship, why couldn’t she as well?

She leaned back to look up at his face, bravely stating a “Don’t hold back on me”

Hoseok furrowed his brows, “What?”

“I feel it whenever we kiss” Soa continued while busying her fingers with his shirt a means of distraction, “You always pull away after some time, it’s like you’re scared of touching me”

Her boyfriend raised a brow and she couldn’t help but think how alluring that looked on him, her insides stirring with that all-too familiar feel. His hands, having once been placed on the counter, suddenly moved to grab her hips and lift her onto the counter, placing himself between her legs in such a swift motion that the gasp caught in Soa’s throat.

“Who said so?” He murmured darkly, one of his palms falling onto her thigh and slowly grazing his fingers in an up and down motion. The girl gulped and restrained the slight mewl threatening to escape . Meanwhile, his other hand wrapped around her waist in a firm grasp while slipping under her shirt to feel the warmth of her back. He pushed her towards him to catch her lips with his own.

With that, all her doubts were washed away, leaving only his lips throbbing inside her mind.
