Chapter 30: Development

Lu Han's POV

Every bit of ___'s friends' questions waged myself from wanting to leave. Not because they were annoying, but rather formidable. Just from whenever they talk to me, their gazes give off a feeling as if they were the one who's authorized of ____. Like mothers who's completely protective over their only daughter.

I mean, it wasn't like I was dating her, It was only decided from consternation.  

Even while we were eating, I could sense that I was being observed. And without even thinking, I was actually trying to displine myself infront of these 16 year olds.

When I made eye contact to Hana, a grin suddenly appeared on her face "So Lu Han ssi..What did you like about our ___?" she asked with a wicked stare.

When she asked that, I was suddenly intact with my own thoughts.

I could lie and tell her that I liked everything about ___, but I seriously had nothing I could say. I need to like her in some way that doesn't seem so foolish. 

At first, I thought that she hated me since she didn't even look at me nor looked comfortable around me. From the months that I've known ___, her movements just suggests that she's a pretty concealed person. 

Why am I thinking about this too much?

"I like--"Before I could finish, At once, the sound of a phone call rang.

"Oh!" Ji Eun yapped and pulled out the ringing device from her pocket and answered it. Everyone watched her as she was taking the call, saying 'ne' then pausing, then another 'ne' and so on until the call ended.

"Umma wants me to go back soon" she said with a sigh

"Oh jinjja? But it's only 2 pm" Hana gasped with her eyes widened.

"She wants me to dye her hair" Ji eun said rolling her eyes.

"Well, I guess we should head on now" Hana mumbled, disappointed. The girls both stood up from their seats and so as ___ "Let's do this again next time then?" ___ suggested.

The girls eyes shifted towards me and smirked "Of course, we still need to interview him"

Oh my god.

Moments later, we went with the girls and left the shop. But we were only able to walk them not even half way, since they had to take a different route.

Soon after, ___ and I were finally alone as her friends already fleed away.

Walking through the streets, was busy as usual since its the weekend. There were tons of cars as taking up the space of the road and I kept ___ close to me so she won't get into any accidents Well she's an accident prone.

"Omo~ you two~"

a high and squeaky voice called. When I turned over my shoulder, I found myself standing infront of a lively looking ahjumma, who was wearing clothes of a 12 year old. "You two should come by our coffee shop, today's our grand opening! and it's made for young couples like you two" she handed a pink flyer. 

"Oh I don't know.. " ___ replied shyly. "And we're not really dating"

 When I took a scan outside the shop, just from looking at it, the theme of it was intensely designed for couples, no wonder there were lots of people.

"Eyy~ come on! are you married then?"

"Mwo!? we're too yo--"

The ahjumma giggled and bumped her elbow to my shoulder "if you buy any of our muffin you get a free coffee" She beamed a cheeky smile.

___ was looking really uneasy, she was probably hesitating because of me. She looked like she really wanted to go. 

"Why not? it won't hurt to visit the place right?" I shrugged and went in without hesitation.

Narrator's POV

When Lu Han walked in the coffee shop, you were a bit befuddled from his sudden decision

"Go on in~" The old lady insisted and lightly pushed you forward. From the woman's force, you stumbled and landed on the boy's back causing him to stumble forward. The boy turned to look at you and right away you bowed repeatedly "I'm so sorry sunbae!"

He furrowed his eyebrows at you, tilting his head to the side. You bit your lip and closed your eyes shut, preparing yourself for his comeback. "Yah!" You were startled.

"Didn't I tell you to call me oppa?"

You fluttered your eyes open from amazement "Eh?"

 He huffed and ruffled your hair "You keep on calling me sunbae, it just sounds a bit stiff when you call your boyfriend that"

As the boy took his hands off of your head, it left another tingling feeling. Even though he does that often, it never fails to make your heart race and face red.

DING!

"Be right back"

Lu Han took off to get your order, a Caffè macchiato for Lu Han and milk tea for you. 

The setting of the coffee shop wasn't too different from other coffee shops but the music that played made you relaxed. The place wasn't too big either, but it was big enough to have an acoustic band to perfom in.

You were mesmerized by the sweet melody of the vocalist's voice, her voice really blended well with the sound of the guitar.

Without even realizing it, you already had your eyes closed, head swaying with the tune of the music. It sounded truly romantic.

"What are you doing?"

the boy said in a rugged tone, looking at you weirdly as soon as he came back. You fluttered your eyes opened again and repositioned yourself from your seat. Then cleared your throat awkwardly.

"Tsk tsk" He clicked his tongue, shaking his head at you as if you did something wrong. You looked down to your drink and quietly took a sip.

"Your friends really are something" he scoffed. "They seriously kept on asking questions like they were some kind of reporter."

you released a small laugh as you were playing with your straw "No kidding" you remarked.

For a while it became silent, all you could hear was the band playing and laughter from other people. You snitched a quick glance at your sunbae and his eyes were only directed at you. Right away, You lowered your head and started to stir your drink trying to avoid eye contact 

"This place is really set out for couples eh?" Lu Han pattered as he had his head up on the cieling, looking at the designs. It somehow reminded him of his past.

"Yeah.. it's pretty" you laughed nervously.

"Have you ever been to these kinds of places?" he asked while he was still scanning through the coffee shop.

A grin was casted on your face as soon as he asked that "No, I have no one to go with. I haven't really experienced dating" you admitted. The boy's head shifted to you again, nodding from understanding 

"Have you, sunbae?"

"Oppa" he corrected you. "

Oppa" you recited. 

"I haven't either" he confessed, staring off of something as he was suddenly bind by a flashback. It was like a scene replayed from a movie."Actually.. you could say that I dated, but I don't really want to consider it to be a real relationship"

You widened your eyes in curiousity and leaned a little closer hoping for the boy to go on with the story. "Why? what happened?"

He slapped his palm on his face and shook his head. But you still had your eyes at him and he eventually went on

"I was still in Beijing then, I was 14 and I only had 6 months left until I had to go to Korea as an exchange student. She was the same age as me and her name is Xin Yuan, she was really an amazing dancer, very refined and elegant, she was kind to her parents and friends, and she was quite good in school too" He smiled to himself as he was reminiscing his past.

Even though this was 5 years ago, you actually felt jealous of the girl who you never even met. From Lu Han's description, she sounded really perfect, she was like another version of him or Krystal.

"I liked her for 3 years and she lived next door of our house, and whenever I'm outside, reading, I see her practice dancing. And so, one day, we met and I took up all the courage to tell her that I like her. Then she unexpectedly asked me out and despite of our young age we just decided to start dating"

"Omo" you blurted out "That fast?!"

"Well. She said that she liked me too, Although, our relationship only lasted for a week"

You can clearly see the disappointment in Lu Han's face, did he really love the girl? you thought. "how did it--"

"She only liked my face and then ended up being dissappointed because I wasn't acting myself, even though I really was" he shrugged and drank off of his coffee. "Come to think of it. Most girls do like my face huh?" he sneered.

You felt guilty of this, one of the reasons why you liked him because of his angelic face. Since most girls think that he looked like he came out of a manhwa, they expected him to act like those typical perfect guy character. But you actually thought so too.

"I guess I can't really blame her. it's human nature" he continued "People get blinded by looks and eventually get tired, it's just funny that it only took Xin Yuan a week to grow tired, that's why I feel bad for those girls who actually chase me around and find out that I'm not the person who they think I am."

A little pain struck into your heart. The way he spoke sounded like he hated himself for looking like the way he was.You felt the same way since you experienced a lot of bullying pertaining to how you look on the outside as well. It made you realize that not with being ugly, but just looking like a certain way can affect oneself. 

"But you're popular, doesn't that satisfy you? "You furrowed your eyebrows

The boy laughed a little "It's not really satisfying, it just feels normal. I can still do whatever I want, just with girls chasing you around" 

You remained silent for a moment, just thinking of how lonely he sounded. That's why you only see him alone and reading somewhere there's no sight of other people, it's like he's isolating himself from others like what you were doing.

"Even though I don't know that much about you" you paused for a moment and gazed at the boy

"And even though you really are handsome, from the days that I've been with you. I think you're really kind since you helped me a lot." You demurely said. And he can be a jerk too you thought. "And I know how you feel. I don't like the way that I look either, that's why its hard for me to talk to guys" You said slowly. 

"But I like you oppa, not because of your appearance, but because you're just.. you" 

He was shocked by your response. Though it sounded cliche, he still felt his heart flutter and simply couldn't hide his rapture. He laughed and patted your head like you were a puppy.

A tint of blush appeared on your face as you looked at him with a confused expression.

He knew that it was all from the past and he already had moved on and didn't care about love anymore. but hearing those words from you made him feel relief and content. Although you were younger, he felt as if you understood what he went through after his first love broke up with him.

"Well I think you're.. weird" he joked.

*cringing* sorry for the late update. I was trying to figure out how to write this chapter, because I want to write more cutesy scenes, so I'm making some kind development with their relationship so yeah... Thanks for the subs and comments <3 I'll try to update faster.
