Jongup 103

B.A.P. Oneshots III

“Remember, if you win this round, then we can move onto the next mission. Are you ready?”

Jonghae blinked at his dad and nodded. He turned to face Yongwon and the two of them shouted out, “Rock, papers, scissors!”

Jonghae let out a tiny scream and threw his arms around Jongup’s neck. They had won, scissors to paper. They went to the mission man to receive their next card. Please go to the amusement park and find the designated book bag for your team. They were currently starring on Running Man’s celebrity children edition. They had invited B.A.P to bring their kids and the six kids formed their own type of Running Kids.

Jongup got into their assigned car and once more gave his son a high five. “Alright, we’re already in the lead. Do you think we can beat the rest of them?”

The little boy nodded with confidence and he bounced in his seat happily. “I think I see Jaylie Noona!” he pointed out the window and sure enough the father-daughter pair was also getting into their cars.

“Looks like we have to drive faster to beat them, right?” When his son nodded, Jongup stepped on the pedal, earning him shouts and indignant looks from Youngjae, who was also ready to go.

As expected, the Moon pair was the first to arrive. “Yeah!” Jonghae clapped his hands together and fist bumped his father as they were handed the mission card. Find the designated book bag and find the tallest ride. Take it and when you get off, there will be a quiz.

Quiz? Jonghae blinked up at his father. “But that’s not fair! Yongwon-hyung would win! He’s the oldest!”

“Don’t worry. Maybe the quiz will be about Pokemon and then we can both answer.”

They took off at a run. Jonghae ran ahead of his father and started looking around the benches and rides. Jongup did the dirty work by looking in the grass and bushes. “Daddy! I found it!” The little boy hauled the green book bag and waved it in the air.

“Quick!” Jongup gestured for the boy to come to him.

“Daddy, is that the biggest amusement ride?” He pointed at the large ride that shot straight up into the air. The sheer height of the ride made even Jongup’s mouth dry.

“I think so. Do you see the Running Man banner?”

The banner was indeed there and it was with a new burst of speed that the father-son pair ran to the ride. “Sir, can we ride that?”

Jonghae was unable to due to a height issue but Jongup was able to go twice. By the time he was off the ride, his face was tinted green. “Appa, are you alright?” He peered up at his dad and Jongup nodded.

“Let’s go answer questions. But buddy, you’re going to have to take up most of the slack. My head is still spinning.”

Luckily, the question was a simple mathematics one and Jonghae, having just learned how to subtract was able to scream out the answer. Fifty minus twenty was thirty. Just as they finished Yongguk came up to them.

“Are you done?” They looked at the pair in shock.

Jonghae nodded. “Yup! See you at the final mission!”

The last mission was the iconic tearing of the nametags. Each father had to protect their child and the kids had to find the hidden pieces of gold. Each child put bells onto their shoes and started to hide. Jongup whispered to Jonghae, “I’ll cover you while you search, okay?”

The game started and Jonghae wiggled his small body under the staircase to search. “Oh, found one!” he whispered excitedly. Jongup pocketed the gold to keep it safe and they boldly went up staircase. The sound of bells alerted them to someone down the corridor and Jonghae flew into an empty room to hide.

“Daddy, get down,” he motioned frantically. Jongup wiggled under the table with him and they held their breath until the bells passed.

While underneath the table, Jonghae’s eyes caught on another gold piece underneath another table. “Dad!” he pointed at it and carefully maneuvered himself to get it. As he put away the gold, however, the doorknob turned.

It was Daehyun and Jaylie. Immediately, Jonghae lunged at her and caught her arm. He pulled the older girl to him and reached for her back. His father was struggling with Daehyun to keep the two from interfering. There was the sound of the nametag tearing and Jonghae cheered.

The classic bell sound rang out and the two made their getaway before the other teams could discover them. It was frustrating for a while because they had no more sightings of the gold bars. There were many close calls and too many sighs of relief as one by one the pairs were ousted.

The final battle was between him and Himjong. The older boy circled carefully behind his father but Jongup made the first move. He lunged forward and grabbed Himchan’s arms, keeping him from being able to move. As the two fathers tried to get the other out, Himjong suddenly attacked.

Jonghae twisted out of the way and grabbed onto his hyung’s shirt. The two boys rolled on the floor trying to grab the other’s backs when suddenly Jonghae felt the familiar fabric. He tugged and the nametag came zipping off.

            “Yes!”

Himjong groaned and sat up. “Help your older brother out,” he held his hand out. When all six pairs were gathered, Yoo Jaesuk walked out, clapping his hands.

“Congratulations to Jongup and Jonghae for winning the Running Kids’ prize. You get to keep all your gold and will have a special guest appearance of your choice on Running Man!”
