Himchan 102

B.A.P. Oneshots III

You reached over for the beef and stared at it. “Hmm, what do you think?”

Himchan stared at the package in your hands with an expression of distaste. “I think for the meat, you should let the son of a Korean barbeque restaurant owner decide. Look at the sides. It’s too fatty. We’re going to all keel over and die.”

You placed your fists on your hips and gave him a challenging look. “Oh yeah? But my mom is the owner of a butcher shop. Don’t you think I’d have more experience?”

Himchan opened his mouth to argue but closed it again. “Whatever,” he muttered.

You smiled in satisfaction. “Besides, I’ll get rid of the fat anyway. The fat just indicates that the meat it surrounds will be tender, and you’ll have a good time eating it.”

“I get to decide the side dishes.”

“Oh really now?” You once more fixed him with a sassy look. “And are you going to be cooking them?”

“I can,” he said. But you knew you won this round too.

“I didn’t think so. So why don’t you be a good boy, Himchan, and let me decide our menu? You can go down the list and buy the appropriate houseware stuff.”

“I don’t dare. Because then you’ll complain that the odor doesn’t match the aura you want the house to smell like.”

You paused to think about what he said for a second and then you grinned. You patted his arm. “Aww, Himchan. Am I that scary?”

            “Not scary, picky.”

That earned him a smack to the arm. “Good bye. Tonight you can leave the house. I’m pretty sure you use more air freshener than I will ever use, and I’m definitely sure you are the one who says the laundry smells amazing every time you slip on a new shirt.”

“Oh yeah? And what about when you wash the dishes? Whose complaints was it I heard about how coconut simply does not meet the same standards as lime? You can buy everything. You have an issue with whatever I get anyway. I don’t know why I try.”

That was true. But it was really because you had a vision of how the house should be, and you wanted your together life with Himchan to be perfect. Tears were prickling at your eyes but you were determined not to cry.

“Fine. I won’t complain. You can buy things and do things your way.” You turned away from him.

“Aww, aren’t you two cute? Just like a married couple. Shopping together and even having a lover’s spat in the middle of the supermarket.”

“We’re not cute,” the two of you said at the same time.

Daehyun was smirking at you as he hoisted his baby carrier onto his shoulders. “Whatever you say.” But the obnoxious comment by the obnoxious man had already settled over the two of you and you looked at Himchan.

            “Sorry,” you mumbled.

“Come again?” he cupped his ear and leaned towards you.

“I said I’m sorry,” you said again.

“I’m sorry, I may have lost my hearing or gone momentarily deaf, but can you please repeat that again?”

            “Kim Himchan!”

At the sound of your raised voice, he backed away. “Okay, easy there. It’s okay. I made a bigger deal than I should. I like the scents you choose too.”

“Do you?” You asked him sweetly.

“Of course. I’m a man with a strong opinion too. If I didn’t like what you were using, I would have long told you.”

You scoffed and continued pushing the shopping cart along the aisle. “Do you think it’s true?”

            “What’s true?”

“The fact that we’re a cute couple.”

            “Do you?

You thought about it a while. “Well, I wouldn’t necessarily use the word cute but I would say we’re pretty darn compatible.”

Himchan winced. “You don’t have a better descriptive term than that?”

            “What’s wrong?”

“It sounds so dry and gross. Like, oh yes, we are compatible, as if we met each other through match.com. Our interests match ninety-nine percent, our horoscopes are within the same moon.”

He would have continued if you haven’t grabbed a free sample and stuffed it in his mouth. “Alright, that’s enough from you.”

You pushed him into a secluded aisle and kissed him on the cheek. “You’re perfect. We’re perfect. But I still get to call the shots when I’m cooking.”
