Pristine
Against It"Do I look okay?" Seohyun asked from the bathroom. JungKook laughed as he swung by the door and pecked her cheek.
"You look great. Why are you worried? I should be terrified. I'm the one meeting his girlfriend's parents," JungKook reminded her. Seohyun turned and smiled at him.
"You'll be fine, I promise," she giggled, pressing her lips on his in soft kiss. "Okay, let's get moving, Kookie."
"Okay. Do we need anything other than the stuff in the car?" JungKook asked. Seohyun shook her head and smiled. "Let's go, then."
When the couple arrived, JungKook was nervous as hell, and anyone with common sense could see that. Seohyun's parents lived in a pristine neighbourhood, filled with smart kids and beautiful families, with moms and dads, or two moms, or two dads; no single parents lived there. It seemed nice to look around and admire the gorgeous and upbeat people, or smile in the warm sunshine and sit in the glossy green grass. Everything about the place was perfect, which was the main reason why JungKook was so anxious.
"Maybe I should just stay in the car," JungKook offered, leaning against the driver's side. Seohyun furrowed her eyebrows and tilted her head in confusion.
"What do you mean, JungKook?" Seohyun asked innocently. JungKook bit his lip and looked at the road, and even the black concrete was clean and smooth.
"I mean, everyone here seems so bright and proud and happy, and I'm not like that," JungKook told her softly, looking around to the other people. He noticed people looking over, and he was happy to see one kid wave at him. JungKook cheerfully waved back and smiled at the little boy until the mother called him inside. "Oh my god, Seohyun. She literally just called him inside. Did you see that?"
"JungKook, she was calling him in for lunch. Didn't you hear her?" Seohyun assured him. He looked around to the other houses and yards. Kids didn't look at him, and he swore at least one dad scowled at him. He sighed and looked back to the ground. In Busan, he was the happiest and most optimistic child of his grade. Here, he was frowned at and parents shook their heads at him.
"I don't like it here," he said.
"JungKook," Seohyun whispered in his ear. He looked over with a sullen expression, so Seohyun smiled brightly to make up for it. "I promise I'll make you happy to be here. C'mon, let's go inside. We can unpack after you meet my parents," she said. JungKook nodded and held her hip as he walked to the door with her.
And of course, judging looks were exchanged as Seohyun's parents opened the door. "JungKook," Seohyun whispered as she pushed his hand off her hip. JungKook almost cursed and couldn't breathe, because he had already made his first mistake before he'd even met the people.
"You must be Joo-hyun's boyfriend. It's very nice to meet you," Seohyun's father said as to break the awkward silence. JungKook nodded proudly and bowed.
"Hello, my name is Jeon JungKook. It's great to meet you as well," JungKook replied, plastering a smile on his face as he spoke in awkward formal language. Mr. Seo smiled brightly at the couple and allowed them inside.
"Joo-hyun, we haven't seen you in so long! How are you, sweetie?" Mrs. Seo asked, hugging Seohyun tightly.
"I'm great, Mommy. How have you two been?"
"Fine, just fine. Not as happy without you, of course."
"Oh, stop," Seohyun giggled. JungKook roamed his eyes around the room as he tuned out the polite conversation.
"Oh, you have... piercings," Mrs. Seo remarked disappointedly. JungKook pressed his lips into a thin line and nodded shamefully because that was perfect. Absolutely perfect that he was still wearing his black square earrings and two silver studs in the next two earring holes.
"Yes, I have piercings," he replied awkwardly.
"Don't they look cool, Daddy? I think they look cool," Seohyun stated happily, holding onto JungKook's arm. He smiled at her.
"Do you have three of them in each ear? What's next, tattoos? rings?" Seohyun's mother asked in disgust. JungKook blushed furiously up to his ears at the line.
"No, ma'am. I promise you that I have no... such, umm, things," JungKook answered.
