forty. Krystal's wavering feelings.

We Just Couldn't Have It All© : Book 1

Experiencing your warmth on my fingertips

Maybe, it would be a smart choice.

To choose you over him.

Krystal was always working hard. She’s always doing it, just to keep herself from thinking that there wouldn’t be another day.

She’s always practicing, kicking that ball into the far-off horizon. She was so scared that the bond between the two of them would be severed. It would be implemented for forever if she couldn’t do it right anymore.

Just this early morning, she asked her senior, Oh Luhan for aid. Luhan gladly helped since he’s the captain of the soccer team. Luhan appreciated how devoted she was, but the truth still hurt.

If you were not cut out for it, don’t force yourself to be.

But on Krystal’s case, there seemed to be a glistening hope that she could mold and polish her skills to that of a regular player. She did try her best to be one of the regular players and she played, yet she had to be hospitalized for days.

“Is your injury not hurting anymore?” Luhan asked, wiping his sweat.

“Nope, not anymore, Oppa.” Krystal beamed. She wanted to assure the captain that she could still do soccer.

“I’m glad…Sehun’s been talking about it for a while.” He avoided her gaze, averting his own to the soccer ball on his hand.

“Sehun did?” Krystal smiled even more. “I’m glad he’s worried about me.” Krystal couldn’t help but to see that there were still many people who cared for her well-being. She was glad that Sehun was one of those friends she could depend on.

“I hate to tell this to you but…” Luhan paused.

Krystal’s eyes were in anticipation. “Waeyo, Oppa?”

“…please don’t hurt my brother. He doesn’t deserve what he deserves when he’s with you.” Luhan pointed it out to her.

Krystal felt the stinging pain. She’s really hurting Sehun even more. Realizing it, she couldn’t help but to think about her own doings.

“I’m sorry for hurting your brother. But, it’s just that I wanted to be friends with h---“

“Stop that crap! He doesn’t see that. He sees something surpassing that of friendship between the two of you. And, you don’t deserve Jongin’s treatment to you.”

Krystal flinched. “Oppa…it’s alright if he doesn’t notice me.”

“Then, try to not be so carefree. My brother’s been acting like a brat. He would burst into tears in no time.” Luhan assured, sympathizing the pain of his brother.

“I don’t think you know the situation fully-well.” She commented, trying to kick the ball one more time.

“Krystal…I know it. That is why I wanted the two of you to be together. You wouldn’t be hurt if you could only try to appreciate Sehun’s care. I’m saying it as your sunbae, not only Sehun’s brother. From the start, I knew that the both of you suit each other. Sehun was always looking at you. Are you aware of that?”

“I’m aware when he confessed to me.” Krystal honestly muttered. She fetched the ball at the far-side of the grassy lawn.

And the things that transpired before that? Do you know how much Sehun liked you? Luhan gulped. “Practice’s over. Just do it, right after classes.”

“Mnm.” Krystal nodded.

Luhan turned back, scratching his hair. “And…Krystal. Please think about your own welfare. If you continue acting like this, you’d get hurt.”

Krystal knew about what he was saying. She knew too well, even more that’s why she was also hurting. She tried to keep calm and think about it.

Krystal was thinking about it for more than weeks now. She honestly pictured the scenario if she accepted Sehun’s confession.

But, the only thing that she pictured was she hurting Sehun’s feelings even more. Being friends would be happier for their case. That was what she intended.

She felt that everything about Kai and her was only an illusion. She was the only one who wanted his warmth more than any other.

She stole a glance on him. She blushed instantly, as she saw him flinch. Looking and thinking back, there was only one resolve. It was she wanted to save this person and to feel that she could replace Choi Minah by his side. That was the only thing that mattered right now.

Yes, maybe she was really hurting a person’s feelings.

Yes, she was ruining a person’s love life.

And yes, she was only hurting herself.

But, this was the only thing that could make her happy.

And, this was the only decision she could come up with.

She smiled again, assuring that she was leading the right path. She focused herself in front of their math teacher. She avoided any more of those hideous look on her face and looked with a nice smile capturing half of the class’ attention.

She hugged her books as she went for the cafeteria. Their tests were coming up, so she should better head to the library after a quick bite.

She asked the ahjumma to have some of those salad and cup of tea. She was served happily. She circled her eyes to look for the tables not fully-occupied. She saw one, the one with Kim Yaera and the others.

She waved at Kim Yaera who completely ignored her and continued eating.

“Still…so cheeky.” Krystal mumbled. She neared their place a she slummed her tray opposite of Yaera’s seat. Yaera looked in fright.

“What?” Yaera questioned, suspicious of that eerie grin on her face.

“Nothing.”  She wafted her food. “This looks delicious.” She didn’t mind her and continued eating.

“I don’t have anything to do with you anymore.” Yaera emphasized, afraid that she’s mess up again.

“I was just eating so EAT.” Krystal commanded, after saying that all of them dug in their food like their mother caught them not eating the vegetables red-handed.

She gulped the tea in one go. “I’d be going.” Krystal concurred that they were very tense when she’s with them. She bolted upright and tried to damp the tray.

She looked one more time as she saw Kai coming inside the cafeteria. She heaved out a sigh.

“I think I would still avoid him at all cost. I wanted to think about many things. “She alleged, driving herself out of the hall. She went to the biggest library in their school at the far side of a building at the south. There were trees lining the way and Krystal took the scene of peace as a relaxation spot.

She slid the door and it made cracking noises. The librarian hushed her to keep quiet. She held her breath and took some minute steps. She tried to go to the ‘Literature’ section of the library to grab some potential books she could read in their mansion.

Of course, she wanted the books in the school. She hated the complicated books lined in her father’s study room the most.

Those were pure Old English pieces, and it the whole time for her.

She went to the ‘Social Studies Section’ right of the ‘Young Adult Section’. Nearing the place, she grabbed a book. Surprisingly, on the other side of it, a hand was also grabbing it. She pulled harder, unable to take her eyes of the book she laid upon.

The other hand was forcibly snatching it. This made Krystal groan.

“Krystal, is that you?” Sehun peeped through the space. They were talking with the big shelf separating them. Sehun giggled, looking at Krystal’s flustered look.

“Sehunnie…” She gasped, unable to take the book anymore. Good. And, I wanted to escape from him as well.

“Why do you want this book so badly?”

“None of your business. Just, some reference I might admit.” She said, snatching the book.

But of course, she had a tight spot. Sehun had these strong and long arms to wave it in the air. And, she was placed to put her hands inside the shelf, passing through it just to try and reach it.

“Fine…fine, let’s take a seat there.” Sehun muttered.

Krystal nodded. “All right.”

They took their seats beside each other. Krystal was looking at the book all these times.

“Of course, you could have this.” Sehun slid the book on the table, passing it to Krystal.

“Gumawo.” Krystal clenched the book.

“Haha.” Sehun chuckled. “What a peculiar world. I was avoiding you this whole time and to see you here…don’t you think it is strange?”

“No..it’s pretty obvious that many people would flock their heads in here. Tests are coming, you know that?”

“You know what I’m wondering how Kai passed the entrance exams for transferees here. Many people said that it would be a miracle to transfer here due to the hard questions in there.” Sehun tried to catch her attention and she did.

Krystal caught on to him. “Why is it with him again?”

“Look you’re blushing already. Why don’t you admit that you wanted the whole world with him?”

Krystal blushed instantly.

Sehun tried to pinch her cheeks. “Oh…our cute, little Krystal.”

“STOP IT!” Krystal remembered Luhan’s words. She couldn’t quote it well, but it was ‘From the very start, I knew that the two of you were made for each other’ like-sentence. She paused for a while, looking intently at him.

“Earth to Krystal?” Sehun looked amused.

“Never mind.”

Krystal allotted all her attention to the book she read beside him. Sehun just looked at her, trying her best all the time. He heaved out a sight and tried to do his own things.

Good thing, I came to this place. He thought, feeling the relaxation on his nerves.

Krystal never saw Luhan on the field. She was shy to the other girls on the girls’ soccer team. She felt like it was her fault for not helping much to them. She gulped, thinking that she had a dried-up throat.

Then, she saw Kim Jong In waving at her. She looked around, pointed to herself and asked, “Me?”

“Of course. Luhan-hyung told me to coach you.”

“Really?” Krystal cleared . Is Oppa testing me or what? He knew that I couldn’t force myself to love someone just because he loves me back. This statement lingered on her head.

“Hey…let’s start. I’m going to my sister’s place so let’s finish this.” Kai pointed on his watch.

“Yeah, let’s not waste time.” She uttered meekly.

From the start, Krystal was out of it. She didn’t know why but she couldn’t make any goals. Her injury even ached very badly. Kai felt sorry for her and tried to stop the practice.

“No…I could go on.” Krystal forced herself to do another more kick. Her injury kicked in again, self-inflicting her.

“Hey…hey…” Kai was in panic.

“I could do more.” She snatched the soccer ball on Kai’s hand. “I could do…even more.” She believed at herself, even losing the energy to voice her real feelings.

“Hey…you looked tired. Let’s stop this.” Kai seized for her hand, squeezing it tightly for it to stop.

“STOP? Yeah, let’s stop this!!!” Krystal was out of her mind. “I’m really having a major dilemma here.”

“Is this related to your injury?” Kai remarked, pointing at her reddish knee.

“Yeah…it’s because of you who forced me to do this. This is why I’m committing a sin right now, you know that? I’ve been committing a sin of loving someone who doesn’t love me back. Even Luhan-Oppa knew that I’m only hurting myself, why am I like a pabo for loving you?” She fell into his arms, punching her chest lightly.

“Krystal…you knew that loving someone couldn’t be rushed right?”

“Am I only hoping for nothing at all?” Her heart ached even more, crying out loud. “TELL ME!!! When…when will it be? When will that time come, huh?”

“Let’s go home. Call your butler…”

Krystal collapsed on his arms. Luhan who was looking at the two of them all along, phoned Sehun. He came to his aid. He supported Krystal alongside Kai.

But since she passed out, Kai, being the stronger guy between the two of them, piggy-backed her. Krystal sniffed her heart out, on his back.

“There’s no choice…there’s no one home on their residence.”

“Let’s just catch the bus and head to their place.”

“Yeah. Good thing, we knew the address.”

“Yeah.” Kai resisted his tired eyes from losing its glow. He was as well tired from studying up all night. But, he couldn’t leave a girl alone. He was the real definition of a gentleman.

Kai put her beside him, trying to lean her head on his shoulder. Krystal felt calm and at peace. Sehun was relieved all of a sudden.

He knew too well that he couldn’t give that kind of thing to her.

It was about time for Kai to stop on his noona’s place. He hushed Sehun to support Krystal on his place. Sehun transferred seats with him quietly, not alarming a tiniest bit of Krystal’s conscious mind. They were successful to keep everything a secret. Yet, Sehun felt suspicious.

“Why… do want to dump her to me so badly?”

“I’m not dumping her. It’s just that I know that you could give more love to her than I could.” Kai bade farewell, and got off the bus. He waved looking at Sehun, Krystal’s head was leaning on his shoulder.

As they neared Krystal’s place, Sehun woke her up.

Krystal gasped, feeling something strange. “Are you the one here all along?”

“Why?” Sehun tried to hide the fact that it was Kai. He tucked it away due to Kai having his own simple secrets for himself. “I am…”

“Really?” Krystal touched both of her palms. “I thought that it was someone else who piggy-backed me. His back was so warm and cozy. My thoughts were so fuzzy, but it truly calmed me down.” Krystal realized that it was Sehun. “The pabo me. Thank you Sehun for taking me home.”

It was time for her to get off. Sehun nodded to assure her.

“Annyeong~” Krystal waved at the last time. Sehun’s back felt so warm. I felt that he’s pampering me. Maybe, I should consider Luhan-Oppa’s words. Maybe, Sehun was really the one right for me.

Arrgghh....Tomorrow is Kai's birthday.

Hehe~ the twenty-year-old him promises to show more of his handsome side this 2013.

Haha! I cracked up when I saw his drawing of the snake.

I haven't been this LOOL. haha. I just checked it out.
