Jungkook wakes up nice and early. 

However by early enough.

"...what the hell." Jungkook yells when his phone wakes him up from deep sleep. His ringer won't stop and when the boy picks up his phone, Jimin is calling.

"What the hell do you want? It's 8am. On a Saturday." Jungkook groans, sitting up in his bed.

"Uh Jungkook? Did you forget that finals is today and warmup started at 7:30?" Jimin says, his tone almost too calm for Jungkook to believe him.

"What?" Is all Jungkook can muster out before he spots his bathing suit, hanging on a hook in his room. His goggles are set on his bedside table and there's multiple reminders buzzing on his phone.

"No of course no Jiminie, I was just resting for the big race okay. Be there in a sec." Jungkook says before hanging up how phone and throwing it with annoyance.

How could he forget about finals?

The lifeguard manages to get himself to Blue Bee pool by 8:30, not caring much about warm up.

When Jungkook walks (runs) over to the pool, he sees a big field full of tents (not like full tents just the like ones that have 4 poles and a roof...) each representing a different pool.

After searching around the field for a bit, Jungkook finds a blue tent farther away where he spots a few familiar faces. He quickly rushes over to the tent to meet up with Jimin first.

"Yahh look who's finally here." Jimin says, looking up at Jungkook and crossing his arms.

"Yep, that's all that matters." Jungkook says, discarding his swim bag on the ground under the tent before searching his eyes for the other swimmers.

He spots multiple kids sitting on a blanket playing cards, a few parents sitting on chairs watching them. 

Jin is sitting with some of his swimmers, talking to them about how finals works. 

Jungkook looks around more, seeing Yoongi sitting on a chair alone with his earbuds in and his hoodie up. Laying on the grass next to where Yoongi sits, is the one Jungkook was looking for.

Jungkook approaches the boy who's laying down, eyes closed. He has a big grey sweater on and his hoodie up just like Yoongi. His hair is spread across his face, covering his eyes a bit as he breaths slowly. 

Jungkook smiles.

"I don't think you should sleep right after warming up." Jungkook says, nudging the boy's side with his foot.

Taehyung's eyes open abruptly after hearing the lifeguards voice, startled to see that he's hovering over him.

"I'm not sleeping.." Taehyung says with a little bit of a cocky grin. Jungkook rolls his eyes.

"Whatever, get up." Jungkook says to the boy, sticking his hand out to help the younger up.

Taehyung grabs Jungkook's hand and gets pulled up easily. 

"You gonna watch my race?" Jungkook says as he's letting go of Taehyung's hand. 

"I might." Taehyung says to the lifeguard, his lips as they make eye contact.

"You better Kim Taehyung." Jungkook steps closer, a hint of threat in his voice that rather excites the younger.

"What if I don't?" Taehyung gains confidence, deciding to also take a step in so that the distance between them is even smaller.

"You'd recieve a-"

"Jungkook? Come here a sec I need to get you ready." Jimin snaps both boys back, startling Jungkook out of his trance.

"Why?" Jungkook sighs, his eyes lingering over Taehyung for a few more seconds before he makes his way over to the short lifeguard.

"Just hear me out! Over there is the marshalling area. Right by the fence. You'll wait at the gate of the fence til your name is called and then that lady will bring you to your lane to swim. Got it?" Jimin explains, pointing multiple times to the small gate that leads to the side of the pool where the lanes start. 

"Gotcha." Jungkook says with a thumbs up.

"Oh and Jungkook.." Jungkook turns back around.

"Make sure your swimmers are nice and warmed up..." Jimin says more quietly, winking to Jungkook subtly.

Jungkook nods slowly before walking away with a little bit of confusion. However he feels that he kind of understands what Jimin is insinuating... he just wasn't expecting it.

After stretching and changing out of his warm clothes, Jungkook is finally lined up at the gate where he awaits his name to be called.

Since he's swimming front crawl, it's the first event of the meet so he didn't have much time to prepare. 

However Jungkook has confidence in himself. He's beat almost everyone so far, and today he plans to do the same.

And not only is it for himself, 

But Jungkook really, really wants to impress Taehyung.

"Jeon Jungkook."
