THE PRACTICE
For You In Full Bloom
"This is awesome, don't you think so?" Chanyeol exclaimed excitedly in his loud voice, he was bouncing in his seat.
I hummed in response. I lounged back on the bleachers and shot murderous looks towards the court. It was Saturday and Dorm 2 members were in the school's gymnasium practicing for the basketball tournament that was scheduled for next week.
"I could practically hear you planning to kill Sehun so you can take his spot on the team." Kai nudged my feet harshly.
I rounded on him. "I did not!"
Chanyeol dropped the ball that he was twirling on top of his fingers and looked at me in hesitant. "Er, you did, actually. We heard you said it loud and clear."
"We did, too." Came a squeak from behind us.
I slowly turned around and saw Xiumin and Kyungsoo sat at the very back of the bleachers, waving happily to us.
I cringed and scratched my head awkwardly. I let my gazes travelled to the court and found Sehun had a deep scowl on his face, his eyes boring into mine. I grinned sheepishly and cleared my throat. I'm guessing he heard me planning his death, too.
"I was just kidding, haha" I called out to him.
He scoffed and turned his back on me, getting back to his warmup.
Chanyeol bumped his shoulder into mine. "Hey, chill out. At least we made it as a substitute players. That's still something, right?"
"And, Sehun volunteering to play, that's a miracle right there." Kai said softly.
I glanced at him and saw his face softened as he looked out at the court. I smiled to myself.
"That is so gay" I deadpanned.
Kai coughed. Chanyeol and I cackled loudly as I thumped Kai's back. His face darkened as he shoved me away.
"Quiet, subs!" Kris hollered at us. "Get your butts here ASAP"
We scrambled to stand up and jogged to where the captain was waiting. Kris had his arms crossed behind his back and was tapping his foot impatiently.
"I want you guys to practice dribbling for 15 minutes, go." He pointed to the corner of the gym.
Kai grabbed my arm and tugged. "Let's go" he whispered as he picked up a ball and threw it at me.
I caught it and walked towards the corner, Chanyeol following behind us quietly with a ball of his own.
We practiced dribbling at the assigned corner. I could see that Kai was somewhat decent in sports, maybe it was because his body was more flexible and lean from all the dancing that he did. He could keep up with the rhythm once I showed him the correct way to do it. His movements were so fluid.
Chanyeol on the other hand, was all over the place. He didn't have the hands-eye coordination, in short, he was clumsy with the ball. Maybe it was because he was so lanky it's harder to control his limbs and movements, which was a shocker because he could drummed like a boss. That k
