hapter VIII - Unknown Fault -Ga In froze in her seating position as Sungjong pulled away slowly with a cheekily smile, "I think I'm falling for you, Teacher Han." He confessed and looked at Ga In's unreadable expression. The silence was broken when a phone call came and Ga In apologize before stepping out and answering it.
"Ga In, where are you? A case came in and we need to investigate it now." Soo Hyun said on the other line.
"Right now?" She asked in a whisper and Soo Hyun hummed.
"But where are you right now? Why are you talking so low?"
"I'm.... It's nothing, I'll be there shortly so-" Ga In continued to whisper until someone pulled her phone out of her hand. Ga In turned around to face Sungjong who was holding onto her handphone, then he shut it off and slide it into his pocket.
"Teacher Han, I'm paying you by the hour. Why are you on the phone when you're supposed to be spending this time with me?" He asked and Ga In quickly apologized.
"Sorry, it was an important call so-"
"Teacher Han," Sungjong cut in again, "let's establish some rules before we really get started. What do you say? Shall we?" Sungjong asked and Ga In hesitated but slowly agreed.
"Then, let's do that." She said and they returned to his room.
Soo Hyun was sitting in the office where his and Ga In's desks are. Soo Hyun's desk was facing Ga In's, but he was closer to the door. Basically his chair was aligned with the door to his left vertically.
While waiting for Ga In, he was looking over the papers that was faxed to them. The case happened this morning after a homicide took place leaving a mother and her teenage daughter dead, the culprit was simple referred to as 'Uncle'. He rubbed his chin and drew in his breath as he focused on reading.
As time passes Soo Hyun was becoming anxious when Ga In was nowhere in sight. After ten minutes he grabbed his handphone on his desk and called her, he had her on speed dial under "2". When his call couldn't go through because her phone was off, his face was washed with worries. But a call came in and it was another detective.
"Detective Kim, we've found the whereabouts of the culprit! Tell Detective Han to turn her phone on, why is it off? Hurry to the location, I'll send it to you via email, hurry with Detective Han!" Then he hung up and seconds later Soo Hyun received the text message.
He drew in his breath and tried calling Ga In's phone again. Still no answer.
Instead of waiting for her, he grabbed his jacket wrapped in his chair and put it on as he headed out.
"Here you go." Sungjong passed a piece of paper over to Ga In, in which she grabbed a hold of on both sides and viewed it slowly. It was the contract during tutoring sessions.
"Teacher Han, please sign on the bottom right." Sungjong said as he passed a pen to Ga In. Ga In looked over the contract and then signed the paper, passing it to Sungjong. "Thank you." He said with a wide smile and tucked the paper into his backpack. "Then, shall we continue?" He asked and Ga In nodded while biting her lip.
Soo Hyun was sitting in the car as he waited for orders from the upperhand. In his hand was a walkie talkie. He kept his eyes wide and cleared as he was looking out for any signs of the culprit. "Detective Kim are you there?" He heard Jae Suk's voice through the walkie.
"Yes Chief."
"You and Detective Han need to spread out, there's two route the culprit can take toward your direction. Do a good job, don't disappoint us." Jae Suk said and Soo Hyun answered with a strong "yes". He turned to the empty passenger seat, glanced at it for little then exit the car.
Soo Hyun was hiding near the center of the merging roads when it was reported that the culprit would be arriving soon. A man in a blue cap, worn out jeans, and brown leathered jacket was making his way down the road. Soo Hyun waited quietly and then as the man was about to passed their eyes met. And quickly the man turned back and ran back up the road on the hill with Soo Hyun behind him.
Every time when Soo Hyun was getting closer to the man, he would make sharp turns, pushed items into his way, and even people; slowing down Soo Hyun's progression.
After a long chase Soo Hyun cornered the man into a crowded alley and both were panting heavily. "Seo In Hyuk, today is your last day to be roaming about the streets of Seoul." Soo Hyun said through a pattern of shorten breaths. But the man laughed instead in a mocking way.
"Me? It will be my last day? Look behind you, you brat." He said in a harshed voice, Soo Hyun peeked behind him and noticed five older men moving in. The one in the front had a dragon tattoo that ran from arm to the other arm, and Soo Hyun can assumed over his chest too. He was in a black tank top and was holding a cigar in between two fingers.
Soo Hyun exhaled sharply as he turned back to Seo In Hyuk, his main target. "That's right, today is your last day on earth kiddo." In Hyuk laughed aloud as his men moved in closer. The two at the side growled as
