hapter XIV - Tears From The Past -Ten year old Soo Hyun was kneeling on the couch facing the front lot through a window; on a raining afternoon. A black truck pulled up to their parking lot, looking out the window he heard the front door opened and then moments later slammed shut. A man came out and opened the door in the backseats; an older man and boy exit the car together. The old man was in his early 30s and dressed in a nice suit while the boy was soaked in water and had messy black hair.
Soo Hyun stared as he noticed his mother leaving the front door and walked out to greet them. She was in a black and white loose dress with a white apron tied around her waist. The quiet image of them encountering one another shortly turned into a heated argument in the parking lot.
Minutes later the older man shoved the kid to the younger driver and slapped Soo Hyun's mother to the ground. "Mom?" Soo Hyun called under a whisper then the man appeared to have ordered the younger to take the boy inside. And as they were approaching the front of the door, Soo Hyun kept his eyes on the slapping and kicking the man were landing on his mother. "Mom!" Soo Hyun called louder this time and quickly got off the couch then ran around the corner toward the front door.
There he almost crashed into the man and boy. "What are you doing? Go back inside." The latter demanded and Soo Hyun couldn't help but keep his eyes on the other boy. The boy was around his age but maybe a few years younger since he was a lot smaller.
"Move! Dad is beating mom!" Soo Hyun shouted but the man took a step forward forcing Soo Hyun to step inside. Soo Hyun tried to stand his ground and pushed the man but he didn't budge, instead he wrapped his arms around Soo Hyun and carried him into his room. The man set him down on his bed and then walked out, locking and pulling the door shut. Soo Hyun bang and kicked the door as he struggled to open it but it wouldn't budge. The man was a lot stronger than him.
After a long while, Soo Hyun had fallen asleep while sitting and leaning against the door to his room. He woke up to the slamming of the front door and unclear screamings and shouting.
His parents were fighting.
Again.
Soo Hyun opened the door finally when the man was no longer outside his room. Then coming from the front, his father, a scary man appeared and looked directly at him. "You, come out here this instant." He said in a rather heavy voice.
Before the night ended, Soo Hyun found himself sitting across from the boy while his father sat in a couch facing them. "He's your step-brother brother, your mother's second son, say hi." His father said looking at him, Soo Hyun sat quietly with a dark expression on his face. The boy waited for him to speak first as he sat with an uninterested face.
"W-where's mom?" Soo Hyun asked with hesitation, his father slapped the arm chair causing him to flinch.
"Don't talk about that woman again, she's not your mother. When your real mother visit tomorrow, be sure to greet and call her mother, you understand brat?"
Soo Hyun sighed heavily as he sat, criss-crossed with his hands on his laps, alone on the green grass near the sidewalk in the park. His eyes were red; he has been crying. Soo Hyun was trying to calm his nerves when it was getting hard to breath, he could feel the rising pain in his heart.
He was well aware that the only woman who raised him was not his biological mother, but she was the only woman he had treasured as a child.
And when he learned that his biological mother abandoned him and his father for another man and had another man's child, she returned to Soo Hyun's fathe
