BaoMing was in the kitchen cooking lunch for DongWon and DongHyun’s parents when her phone rang. She took a look at the caller ID; it was DongHyun. They were supposed to be in the US, there concert was the day after tomorrow and in about a month they were heading to Taiwan. She was about to pick up the phone but the call ended already. She goes back to chopping veggies when her phone rings again.

“Hello?” she picks up her phone, the other line was quiet for a bit, “Hello?”

“Why didn’t you answer you phone?” he sounded kind of mad. Why he was mad was the question.

“What wrong with you?” he was hesitant, he didn’t expect her to reply that way, “Just because I didn’t answer the phone doesn’t mean you can yell at me.”

“I was calling to see if you’re okay?” he sighs, “You not answering scared the heck out of me. I almost call Lisa noona to come check up on you.”

“I’m fine. Is this what you really called me for?”

“I was just call to check up on you and DongWon.”

“We’re fine. DongWon is playing with your dad. They’re getting along just fine.”

“How are you doing?”

“I’m fine…we’re actually preparing to meet up with you guys at the airport in Taipei.” She puts the veggies into the pan, “DongWon is staying here with you parents.” She looks at the time, “Okay I need to finish lunch for the family.”

“Okay, goodbye Ming. I’ll call to check up on you later.” She felt her heart skip a beat,

“Bye.” She hangs up and finishes cooking, just then her phone rings again; this time it was an unknown number, “Hello.”

“BaoMing?” she was surprise at the voice that she heard from the other line, “Hello, BaoMing?”

“Jessica? Where are you? How have you been?” her mind was filled with questions, “Do you know how worried I was?”

“I’m sorry for not contacting these last weeks. I know dumping him with you was the wrong thing to do, but I had no other choice.”

“No need to apologize, I need to know where you are? We’ll talk later.” She was hype and anxious, she needed to so that DongWon would have an umma again.

“I’m- I’m at the hospital.” BaoMing got even more scared.

“I’ll be right there.” she runs into the living room and tells Mrs. Kim to watch the food, “Umma I’m going to go I’ll be back really quick. If I don’t come back by night fall just have DongWon sleep with you.” She runs out the door with her keys.

Jessica was sitting on the hospital bed with an IV. The color was flush from her face, almost like a ghost. She was so sick she didn’t want to move anywhere. She missed DongWon like crazy, her beloved son who she treasures most. Her life was growing short and she didn’t want to regret anything. She closes her eyes and drift off to sleep.

“Jessica.” DongHyun hugs her from behind, “What did you want honey?” Jessica slowly holds his hand and sighs.

“I just wanted you to hold me for a bit.” DongHyun kisses her cheek, “and I wanted to tell you that I’ll be leaving, but I’ll be back.” Her smile slowly fades, DongHyun hug got tighter.

“But I don’t want you to go, I want you to stay with me.”

“It’ll just be for a little while.”

The next morning

“Jessica!” DongHyun runs around the house, “Jessica!” he runs into the living room and found a note from Jessica.

DongHyun,

I’m very sorry; it was the best thing I could do for us both. I love you very much honey. Don’t be upset with me and just move forward. Start off with someone new. I know that after Sunny’s death you really never got over her. The only reason you married me was because you needed someone to fill that whole in your heart. I love you very much Kim DongHyun, if it really is meant to be we’ll meet up again someday.

Jessica gets off at a bus station, her head feels heavy and she felt sick. She ran off to the side and started to throw up; that when she realizes she hasn’t been on her period for a month now. She ran to the closest drug store and grabs a pregnancy test. She paces back and forth waiting for the test result.

“No.” the test was positive, “No.” Jessica drops to the side and cries, “I can’t do this. I also cant let him know.”

 “Jessica,” BaoMing rushes into the room. Jessica was asleep, “Jessica.” She walks to the end of her bed and looked at the report. BaoMing was speechless; the whole reason why she left was because she had a brain tumor.

“Ming?” BaoMing heads snaps up, “When did you get here?

“Jessica.” She felt her tears coming down her face, “You have brain cancer?”

DongHyun kept staring at the picture that was sent to him, why was she at the clinic. He couldn’t help but wonder why she was there. Since the beginning of the tour he felt like he was lonely. He couldn’t help but try calling her; every time he tried he would hang up.

“Hyung!” yells Youngmin, DongHyun quickly hides his phone, “Do you miss DongWon and noona?”

“I miss DongWon.” In two weeks he was going to Taipei and meet with the person he wanted to see most but he wouldn’t let his mouth speak that one person’s name. He misses her hair, her perfume, her milky soft skin, and especially her smile. He know he only started his tour and pretty soon he’ll be going to Hong Kong, London, Europe, and then Taipei. The last two weeks felt like months to him. Now he is extra worried that BaoMing went to the clinic and he hasn’t been gone that long.

BaoMing gives Jessica a glass of water to drink. Her mind was blowing with questions wondering where she went.

“If you keep staring at me like that I’ll feel bad.” Jessica smirks at BaoMing. BaoMing quickly outs the cup back on the table, “I know you have tons of question and I’m willing to answer them.”

“Then answer me this, where have you been?” Without a doubt Jessica knew that question would have been coming.

“I went to help you with your current mission.”

“Bwoh?”

“I found out your profession when I left; I was pretty amazed at what you did for living.”

“How did you know what my mission was?”

“I know who your employer is, and I know who you’re protecting.” BaoMing becomes absent minded and hopes that she wouldn’t misunderstand.

“Jessica, please don’t misunderstand.”

“No, I understand…it your job. There is something more important I got to tell you.”

“What?” Jessica pulls out an enclosed document from the night stand, “What is that unnie?”

“Remember me telling you about my ex-boyfriend, it happens to be the guy you’re looking for. This is something that will help you guys capture Lee EunHyuk.” BaoMing took the document in amazement. Jessica was so brave and she wasn’t’ even part of the team, “It the least I can do since you helped me with DongWon and found his appa.”

“It part of my job; but I’m still not finish with my job. I have to reunite your family like I promised.” BaoMing holds her hand, “And I know somebody who misses you the most.”

“DongWon.” Jessica’s eyes became teary, “Has he been fine?”

“He asks for you often and he gets along with DongHyun quite nicely. I think he’ll be happy to see you. I’ll bring him tomorrow.”

“Thanks Ming.” BaoMing stares at the document.

“Unnie how did you manage to do it.”

“Let just say there have been something on his mind lately. It was almost as if he wanted to get caught.” Jessica thought for a second and remembers something, “Song JiHyo…someone name Song JiHyo.”

“Song JiHyo.” BaoMing whispers, then she remembers while they were on JeJu there were note initialed with ‘SJ’, “A Female, there was somebody warning us about what was to happen and the initials on the note were ‘SJ’. Could they be the same person.”

“I don’t know, maybe.” They both sit and think for a bit.

“Unnie let not worry about this. All you need to worry about is recovering.”

“I’m not recovering from this, Ming.”

“What are you saying?”

“I’m dying; I’m at the last stage.” Jessica avoided eye contact with her, “I have less than a year left.”

“Don’t say that you have to live on for DongWon and DongHyun. You can’t give up hope yet.”

“I will.”

A Couple Days Later

DongWon was sitting in the living room waiting for BaoMing to come back. He nmotices that she been gone a lot lately, but today she had a surprise for him, “DongWon ah.”

“BaoMing umma.” He runs to the door and saw something he wasn’t expecting.

“Look who I found.” DongWon was on the verge of tears

“Umma!” Jessica was standing on the other side of the door with a huge smile. Her son who she left for over a month had grown so much.

“DongWon ah.” Tears escape Jessica’s eyes, she bend down on her knees waiting for a hug, “DongWon ah.” DongWon runs to his mother and embraces her while crying.

“Umma, I miss you.”

“I miss you too.” BaoMing was almost in tears as the two were reunited.

DongWon sat at the table beside his mom while they at lunch he was so happy to see her.  BaoMing couldn’t help but be a bit jealous at the site. DongWon didn’t know what he was doing, he was glad he was reunited with his mom but at the same time he felt bad for his BaoMing umma. They played all afternoon until DongWon fell asleep.

“What are you going to do after this is all over?” Jessica asks BaoMing who was cooking dinner, “How are you going to leave?”

“Hopefully if we can catch EunHyuk by next month I can leave you guys quietly.”

“Where will you be going?”

“I don’t know yet…but as long as nmo one can find me I should be fine.”

“What about your job?”

“I’ll still be part of the agency just I’ll be somewhere else working on smaller cases.”

2 Weeks Later

Everyone on the team members sat around the table huddling to see how they were to catch EunHyuk and keeping DongHyun safe.

“So what is going to happen is Lisa and I am going to be on both side of the stage. Junsu and YooChun are going to on the bridge along with the two other, BaoMing, you and Yoohwan are going to be backstage and keep watch on anything suspious.” said Jaejoong

“You guys will go first,” said BaoMing, “ DongWon, Jessica, and I will head out on the next flight.”

“Waeyo?” ask YooHwan

“I can’t let DongHyun know that she here. He doesn’t even know that DongHyun is his son either, so seeing DongWon and Jessica together will be dangerous.”

“Why is she going?” ask Junsu

“Because it isn’t safe for her to stay alone either; she stole documents for us, do think it safe for her to stay alone?” they all nod their head in agreement, “ So whatever happen don’t let him know that she is here.”

“Ming, what happens if he knows?”

“I fail my mission.” Everyone looks at each other, “ By the way does anybody knows a Song JiHyo.” Jaejoong went wide eye and she caught him, “Oppa you know don’t you?”

“Ani ani… the name sounds familiar so I was surprise.” He had direct eye contact with Lisa, “We leave in a week we need to be prepared. Any questions?” no one raise their hand, “If not then we’ll see you in three days.” Everyone pick up their things and leaves.

BaoMing leaves to her car, as she sticks her key in the door she felt a sudden pain from her abdomen. She winced in pain and leans on the car.

“Ani ani.” She bends down, “Not now.” She heard footsteps inching closer to her, “Please.”

“Ming?” she turns and sees Jaejoong. He notice the pain look in her face right away, “Ming.” He goes to her side, “Are you okay?”

“Oppa, my stomach hurts really bad.” She slowly slides down onto her , “Appo.”

“Let go to the hospital.” He helps her into the passenger seat and gets into the driver seat and drives off to the hospital. He grabs his phone and starts to dial Lisa’s number when BaoMing grabs his phone. “What are you doing? “

“Don’t …call unnie.” She strain to say

“Why?” he was curious. She just shook her head and lay back on the seat trying to bare the pain.

1 hour later

Jaejoong sits outside the emergency room waiting for the doctor to come out. Not too long afterward one of the nurses comes out.

“Is she alright?” he quickly asks

“She is fine, her baby is fine too. She just been under a lot of stress lately.” The nurse walks away to the front desk. But Jaejoong didn’t believe what he just heard, baby? If he remembers correctly the fetus passed away 2 months ago. The doctor finally came out.

“Are you Miss.Han’s husband?”

“Ani, I’m her oppa. Can you please tell me what exactly is wrong with her?” he sighs, “The nurse said something about a baby, but if I’m not mistaken the fetus was dead the last time she came here.” The doctor had an uneasy expression.

“Ms. Han never had a miscarriage.” Jaejoong was totally lost now, “She faked her miscarriage for her own safety and the child’s.” she looks at Jaejoong, “I know Ms. Han wanted to keep this as a secret but for her safety now I must let someone know. Ms. Han is fine though, she just need rest and please don’t let her worry too much; she just started her second trimester she can still have a miscarriage.” She bows “Please let Ms. Han know and tell her I am very sorry for this.” The doctor leaves.  

BaoMing Pov

When I woke up I was in the hospital, I was still on my work clothes, everything was blur to me. Then I notice someone standing by the door staring at me.

“You’re finally up.” It was Jae oppa. He came and sat next to me, “So do you want to explain to me why you lied to all of us?” I was confuse about what he was saying

“What are you saying?”

“I’m talking about your four month old fetus, which was supposedly dead two months ago.” I was shock at what came out of his mouth. How did he find out, “Wondering how I found out isn’t important, what I want to know is why you lied? Why didn’t you let anyone know that you were still pregnant.” He scoffs, but I felt the tears coming, “You know how bad we all treated DongHyun because we all thought you lost the child.” He kind of raises his voice, “Do you know how dangerous this mission is, one mistake and you can really lose it.”

“I really didn’t mean to do it. I – I really couldn’t stand it anymore. Having the child out of the way help me get this mission done and over with.”

“Why, why do you want this mission done so bad that even the life of your own child doesn’t matter?”

“Because he has another child, another life, I’m nothing oppa. After this I’m leaving.” I should have never said that

“You are what?” he leans in, “Leaving? Why?”

“Because I can’t stay here anymore; I want to leave and do side missions from the agency in the smaller cities.” I can feel him stare into my soul

“You know you can’t lie to oppa. Ming I knew you since you came to Korea.”

“I know I can’t lie to you but I can lie to myself.” I took the IV out and took the blanket off of me

“What are you doing?” he quickly grabs a hold of me, I could see the anxious look in his eyes

“I’m going home.”

“You can’t leave.” I stare at him and try to get his hands off my shoulder

“Leave me alone. Let go of me.” I struggle under his tight grip

“Why are you being like this?”

“I said let me go!”I felt the tears run

“Ming! Stop it, stop!” I felt a sudden sting on my cheek, both Jaejoong and I were speechless, “I’m sorry Ming, I didn’t mean to slap you.” I punch him, making him land on the couch behind him.

“I’m not.” I got up grab my shoe from the closet and ran out the room. I heard footsteps right behind me.

“Ming,” I stop in my track, “Ming I’m sorry I didn’t mean for that to happen it just happen.” I heard him sigh; I slowly turn to face him, “Tell me why you want to complete this mission so bad.” I took a deep breath

“Because it takes me one step closer to finding out who killed my parents.
