“Wah~ Baekhyun-ah!”

Stepping into the house, Baekhyun immediately got attacked by a big hug from his sister-in-law. After work, he decided to go visit his brother’s home just to hang out. “Wow, we just met three days ago, oh?” He laughed while pushing her off gently. He started looking around, the different atmosphere grabbed his attention right away. “Seriously, why does your home always look different every time I visit?” He asked in amusement. Soyeon grinned, proud of her own work. Ever since they moved out of Baekbeom’s parents and got their own place, she’s been very interested in interior designing and she likes to play with her own home.

For this month, her theme was brown and orange, classic fall inspired accents all over their home.

“You’re good at this, seriously.” Baekhyun complimented as he walked to the living room and sat down the couch. “Baekbeom just got home too, wait, I’ll call him.” Soyeon left for a while to go to their bedroom. Baekhyun’s eyes lit up when he saw his nephew, Sunwoo, next. He came out of his bedroom while holding a text book. At a young age, the kid already had glasses. “Bro!” Baekhyun beamed making the kid walk over to him. “Hello, uncle. Good evening.” He greeted politely and bowed before walking straight to the kitchen. “Ah, what the—yah, talk to me~” Baekhyun called but couldn’t help but to chuckle.

Sunwoo has been showing an awfully familiar personality as he grows up.

The kid made a quick U-turn and walked back to his side. He climbed up on the couch and placed his book right on his lap. “Uncle, would you like to talk about Trigonometry?” Sunwoo asked leaving Baekhyun dumbfounded. “Where’d you even get this?” Baekhyun snatched the book from the kid and realized he was holding a book of Advanced Trigonometry. “I found it in Appa’s book shelf. I liked what it looks like, it’s very interesting, uncle. Can you teach me? Appa wouldn’t teach me, he said my head will explode and it’s not very healthy for the soul. Is my head really going to explode?” Sunwoo answered again, making Baekhyun facepalm himself. He couldn’t help but to laugh while covering his mouth.

“It’s not that it’ll explode. . .” Baekhyun leaned on the couch and turned to the kid. “You’ll just prefer to have your head exploded than do this thing.” He replied playfully earning an innocent confused look from the kid. Soyeon finally came back with Baekbeom. “Hey, what brings you here?” Baekbeom walked over to the couch and the brothers shared a brief hug. “Yah, hyung. Sunwoo is getting weirder and weirder by day, what did you guys do?” Baekhyun muttered as a joke earning a glare from Soyeon. “I don’t know, neither of us are smart enough to have an intelligent son to be honest.” Baekbeom answered. Soyeon arched her top lip and slapped her husband’s arm because of what he said.

“Anyway.” Baekhyun sat down again and ruffled Sunwoo’s head. “I just stopped by before going home. How’s Eomma by the way? I haven’t visited her yet to be really honest.” He admitted earning a light glare from his brother. Soyeon grabbed Sunwoo’s hand and dragged the kid to the kitchen so the brothers can talk privately. Baekhyun leaned more on the couch while massaging his temples. “And also Appa, how is he? Have you talked to him?” he added. Baekbeom sighed and leaned sideways on the couch to face his brother better. “I did talk to him but it was really quick, the line was cutting off. He said he’s still in Japan.” The older one answered. Baekhyun groaned in frustration, he still cannot believe they’re going through something like this at their age.

“So, he hasn’t contacted Eomma since then? What about eomma? Has she tried to? Wha—they’re too old to be doing this, seriously.”

Baekbeom went silent making the younger brother nervous. “What?” Baekhyun asked while nudging him on the arm. “Appa wants a divorce.” Baekbeom revealed. Disbelief surged into Baekhyun’s body when his brother said that. That would be the last thing he expected his father to ever do, after all these years. “Are they a bunch of babies? Like for real? This is—wow.” Baekhyun exclaimed and stood up. Baekbeom pulled him back down while flicking his tongue. Being the older one, he’s still the one who stresses more about the situation between their parents.

“Nothing’s sure yet, he just mentioned it to me. He’s thinking about it.”

The two brothers fell back into a brief silence while both staring in space.

Baekhyun stretched his neck on the head of the couch. “Is that why eomma’s been really silent lately? She didn’t go to work for like straight three days. I wanted to check on her but she’s just gunna about things again so I just kept my mouth shut. I’m not siding on anyone. I knew about this childish fight they’re having but I never knew it was this serious.” He revealed making his brother look in surprise. “Really?” Baekbeom asked, obviously taken aback by the fact that their mother abandoned work that long. “Like. . . how the hell did things get this serious. They were literally fighting over a freaking trip. Oh my god, my head cannot take this pettiness.” Baekhyun grunted while holding on his head.

“It’s not just that, it was Appa’s idea to go on trips with her around the world, wherever they want to go. He wants to finally relax and just enjoy life with her and all those things aka RETIRE but Eomma didn’t want to because she doesn’t want to stop yet saying they’re still too young to be retiring.”

Baekhyun groaned again while messing his hair up. “Even so, why the did the word DIVORCE even come up? Like for God’s sake. Isn’t Appa used to her yet? I’m so used to her that I’m sick of it, even. I don’t even feel anything about all her anymore. Appa’s thinking too much and Eomma is so paranoid, she doesn’t even need to be at work anymore, I’m there now and I’m doing pretty well. OH MY GOD, I’m so pissed.” He hissed while rolling his eyes in irritation. Lately, they’ve been feeling like their parents are getting old backwards. They have to admit that Mrs. Byun changed too, she got a lot nicer when Baekhyun finally got introduced to the Han Family and officially started managing the company a year ago although she’s still as workaholic as ever.

“Anyway.” Baekbeom cleared his throat and decided to cut off the stressing conversation. “How’s Soojin?” He asked. Baekhyun’s face finally softened. “She’s okay, still the same.” He answered with a light smile. “Are you excited for the engagement party?” Baekbeom then asked while nudging the guy.

“Well. . . there’s no reason for me not to be, right?”

Baekhyun sighed, his lips arching up for a gloomy smile. “Things. . . are going the way it should be. I’m all mature and stable, I’m the president of a big company. . . I’ll be married to this perfect girl. There shouldn’t be any reason for me not to be happy with what’s happening with my life right now.” He muttered, sounding as if he’s convincing himself to agree with his own words. “Are you in love with Soojin?” Baekbeom asked seriously. Baekhyun sighed with a beam. “It’s not hard to love her, Hyung. I care for her a lot.” He answered without any hesitation. “That’s not my question. Are you in love with her?” Baekbeom repeated his question more clearly this time while peeking at his brother’s face. He saw how Baekhyun’s expression fell back into misery although he tried to cover it with a smile.

“I don’t even want to remember how it feels to be in love anymore.”
